I shopped around suit makers all over and The Cutting Room is one of the only (if not THE only) shop in the Orange County area to even mention LGBTQ+ on their page and that was really important for me. He took time to meet with me via Zoom (since I wasn't super local to the area) and answered any of my questions prior to booking an appointment with him. In each appointment, I never felt rushed as my friends and I overanalyzed every piece and detail of the suit in hopes of creating perfection. There was a bit of a hiccup that happened with the fabric mill, but PJ jumped into action and took care of the issue. PJ made me an amazing garmet when I was looking for a blazer. The jacket is now one of the most flattering items in my wardrobe. It drapes like a dream, moves with my body, and is slimming without being slim fit. I was delighted by the attention to detail and elegant touches indicative of bespoke. Full canvassing, subtle pick stitching, and Milanese button holes. Many "custom" made to measure shops upcharge for each of these. Here, you get nothing less than the standard you would expect of bespoke. It's got to be Cupro lining. Full canvas is a given. All that while remaining quite price competitive. PJ was great to work with. I came in with a good idea of what I was looking for, so our initial conversation was quick and efficient. PJ measured me with speed and purpose. He guided me through the design process and reigned in what would've been questionable choices on my part. He made excellent suggestions, such as the gorgeous dark horn buttons I ended up going with. Choosing to get a garment done by a local tailor is a bit like going to a local jeweler. You could certainly get a great suit from Zegna or a great ring from Tiffany, but you will pay through the nose for house style and brand. He went into deep detail on the comparisons of fabrics, going as far as explaining the different fiber lengths and even the farms where the fabrics come from. He's really easy going and makes the entire process stress free for you. I came in with a pretty good idea of what I wanted and he brought it to life. We went over every detail. I have a hard time buying suits off the rack as a tall slimmer person, dress shirts and suit jackets just never fit right. Even after tailoring, things did not sit how I wanted them to. After taking all of my measurements and making the suit, I came in for my first fitting and everything was exactly perfect. There are no surprises, and when you take everything into consideration, it has been such a good use of money. Getting married in a few months and wanted to look my best for the occasion. Prior to visiting the The Cutting Room Bespoke, I did my research on what made a good suit, and visited a well-known upscale men's clothing company with the intent to purchase a Made-to-Measure suit. When I got the quote for the MTM suit however, I was shocked at the cost for something that was a compromise between a bespoke suit and an off-the-rack suit. I figured if I was going to spend that kind of money, I should invest in a bespoke suit. The quote I got from The Cutting Room Bespoke was no more than for the MTM suit. A no compromise suit, made just for you, with more options to choose from, at a similar cost--it was a no-brainer. P.J. is a knowledgeable and personable craftsman. He took the time to figure out what it was that I wanted, presented me with options to choose from that met my requirements, explained what the quality differences were between options and how it may affect cost, helped me to prioritize those options to stay within my budget, etc... The things he told me were consistent with my own research, so I knew I could trust him. He was careful to set appropriate expectations, letting me know that things may not be perfect right off the bat, that I may need to return for multiple fittings, etc.. and that he would work with me to get as close to my expectations as was reasonably possible. He never oversold. Today I went for the first fitting, and was thoroughly impressed. This suit is by far the best looking and highest quality suit I have ever owned or worn--I have had a few off-the-rack suits and rented suits for weddings. The fit was spot on, and the design was ideal for someone of my short stature. I am very excited for the wedding day now. I know my fiancée will be really surprised when she sees the suit.
