Porterhouse steak cooked medium rare
Laura H.

My husband & I came tonight for the first time. He has always passed it while driving for work & wanted to try it. We arrived at 8pm on New Year's Eve, and didn't know we needed reservations due to never being here. The host was amazing & bussed a table for us so we can get seated. Our server was very busy but did a great job as well. The atmosphere is like most steakhouses, wood, neat decor that you'd see in a barn or around cowboys. I thought it was pretty. The music was there but not over abundant where you couldn't hear & the music was good. Now, let's get down to the food, we had the appetizer that was tator tots, these aren't your normal tots, they were huge & magnificent! Very Delicious. Our steak order came with a salad, soup, roll & a side. My husband got the porterhouse steak & he said it was very good, cooked medium rare perfectly, & was well seasoned. I ordered the filet & wow it was so good. The portion was big, it was seasoned well & not over seasoned & cooked perfectly. We had so much food & left with leftovers for tomorrow - our server wrapped it in aluminum foil & shaped it like a bull, That was cool. We will definitely return, I highly recommend this place if you want a great steak.

The service is very good. We went on a Tuesday. I had the filet and my husband had the surf and turf. The steaks were cooked well. The cook favors the rare side. The lobster was amazing. The bartender was great - we had a cosmo and espresso martini. The onion soup was good. My only complaint really is that the restrooms need to be updated badly. And the soap was out. The place was very quaint and warm feeling. Small type feel.

Shrimp cocktail. Stupid price

A very old place. The bathrooms are old. Parking is extremely limited. The only meat I could order medium rare was the steak tips. I could have had a better meal at longhorn steak house! Truely.. no seasoning, VERY BLAN food. Sorry South siders you don't have a Nalyas or The Salt or Harry & Izzys. So much better steak places out there!

My husband picked Bynums for his birthday dinner, we have never been here before. We got there about 5:15pm, people were there but still had quite a few empty tables. Our server was a tall man and I don't remember his name. He grabbed our drink and appetizer order. They had coconut shrimp as the special appetizer. We received 6 coconut shrimp and a sauce that was fantastic! Our server brought over some bread and butter which was also very good. My husband ordered a New York strip with baked potato. It also came with onion soup and salad. I ordered the roasted chicken with baked potato, and I also got the onion soup and salad. Our soup came out first and it was very similar to French onion soup except the cheese was on the bottom, very good in my opinion. Our salads arrived and it was a mixed greens salad with onions and tomatoes. Our food arrived and looked really good, I was hungry so I dived in. Hubby said his steak was cooked perfectly. My chicken was slightly crispy on the outside but moist inside, very good! After we finished our food, we asked to see the dessert menu. Good selection of cheese cakes, cakes and cobbler. We went with the peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. It came out warm and it was delicious! We had a great experience with great service and amazing food!! We will definitely be back!

I know a lot of folks swear by this place, but I can only give it an enthusiastic 'MEH'. I visit occasionally when someone else really wants to come here. The interior is just so gloomy. Not sure if it is supposed to be romantic? If it is, it's missing the point. As others have mentioned the decor is really outdated and the sayings along the walls, well I just don't know what to say there. Usually the onion soup has been great, but during my last visit it was so salty it was barely edible. I did enjoy the Bam Bam Shrimp though. You get 6 with your order and I have to admit they were delicious. I am not much into their steaks, I just find them not worth it. So I ordered the Tenderloin with loaded frites and it was ok. Not bad, not great, just average. Service.... hmmm... not the greatest by a long shot.

Food is outstanding and specifically their steaks are hot, juicy and delicious! The atmosphere is like a legendary steakhouse, it's a classic.

Just went there for my bday! Had their prime rib and it was perfection. Their soup is salty but you get salad a side too and their want bread which is also good

Steak ordered medium

Never again will we go here. The waitresses were more concerned about the company Christmas party going on next to us. My salad has soft mushy tomatoes, no carrots and no cucumbers. Soup was good. I ordered a fillet medium but it came out medium rare. The baked potato was hard. My husbands steak was undercooked also but he didn't mind. I was only offered for them to take the steak back to be cooked again, no taking it off the bill even though I told her I wasn't happy and didn't want the steak anymore. I didn't eat any of it. I cut into it and noticed it wasn't cooked the way I ordered it. Then they added a 20% tip on our bill! We weren't given the option of a tip. No way will we go back

They gave us free cake on his birthday!

A meat lover's paradise. I felt like I just stepped into a steakhouse in the middle of Texas - not downtown Indy. Every single steak is as big as your head and juicy, cooked to your definition of perfection. Especially the Prime Rib was a fun one - everyone gasped when they saw the massive rib sticking out of the 2 inch thick meat The ribs were perfectly done, easy pull apart with little fat. they have only two BBQ sauce flavors: regular and hot. Both were Servers seemed like they had been there years - making it fun by boxing up our leftovers for us in fun shapes made of tin foil. Kinda the only good way to carry large hunks of meat home! They brought out a birthday surprise for our friend (free of charge)! Drinks were poured heavy and for the amount of food our party received, we got everything really quickly which shocked us. Very unique interior - natural wood with sections of seating 5-6 tables, as well as one huge room in the back where they placed our group since they knew we would be rowdy! So much stuff to look at on the walls, and antiques here and there. Might be a good place for a company party for large gatherings.

This place is all wine, all the time. I'm not even sure they offer any other adult beverage! As a consummate wine fiend, I didn't even consider any other kind of drink, because I don't need any other adult beverage other than wine, you feel me? I love Solely's commitment to wine. They have wine to drink, and also, the walls are lined with bottles of wine. Just don't touch them! If you see an interesting bottle, don't take it off the shelf. Just tell the people at the counter about the bottle you're interested in, and they will help you. I wasn't in the market for a full bottle of wine during my visits -- just a glass. Solely Wine specializes in "unique, low-intervention wines from passionate small producers," according to their website. So whether you buy a bottle or get a glass, you know you're drinking a thoughtfully chosen wine. I had a glass of the Grenache Syrah blend and the Cab Franc, mostly because I rarely see these kinds of wines offered in the wild. They were both delicious! My only comment is that the pour is very small. The Cab Franc especially felt like it was maybe 4 ounces! I have weighed my wine at home, so I know roughly what a typical wine pour (5 ounces) looks like, and this felt like slightly less. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my wine! And the ambiance is killer. During the day, Solely is a cool place to grab a glass of wine and hang out. It's super close to the Monon Trail, too, so you can just bop over and get a cheeky drink. During the nighttime, the lights are lowered and the ambiance is very romantic and intimate. A great place for a solo drink, and a great place for a romantic date night.

I also love that they're connected to an art gallery, it really adds to the overall experience. I came here for a Yelp event and had an amazing time. Inside, the space is peaceful and inviting, with comfortable seating, games to play, and lots of natural light and live plants that create such a relaxing vibe. The owner was incredibly helpful. I wanted to try a wine flight, and she guided me through selecting options based on my preferences. The wine flight comes with four glasses and is about $24, which felt a little on the expensive side. They accept cards and also have a rewards system (which I definitely signed up for). There's a wide variety of wines, from dry to sweet, so there's something for everyone. I really enjoyed my flight. There was one red (Gamay) that wasn't my favorite since I tend to prefer sweet to semi-sweet wines, but I've been trying to expand my palate, which is why I love the option of flights. It also said it paired well with pizza, so maybe if I was eating that, it would be better. I enjoyed browsing their wine selection for purchase. I really admire how everything is well organized and easy to explore. They sell Stellar pretzels which I've had before and are so good, but solely had cinnamon dolce flavor that I never had before, neither had Kiara, so she bought some and I got to try the them (thank you Kiara!), they tasted just like a churro, so delicious, like a dessert! I can definitely see myself coming back here with friends or even just to enjoy the space and unwind. Such a great vibe overall.

Keagan Fife (Manager) - A team player, receptive to feedback and conscientious. We had a issue while there and he was able to step in and problem solve with me and come up with a solution that really won us over. We had a moment where it was feeling a bit "why did we come here" but his customer service exceeded expectation. That's good management. (He's the gentleman in the video below.) Let's get the negative out the way 1st. The first waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. I told her we hadn't received menus. She came back sat them down and walked away. We never saw her again. A new waitress came and she seemed pleasant enough. Once we were all seated she began to take our orders. She made a point to say she needed to write it all down or she was get it mixed up. She then did not write anything down. Our food came out extremely slow but that wasn't a huge deal because we all were mingling. A lot of her team had to step in and deliver our food, give drinks, check on us etc. She was pretty non existent. Two of the ladies never received food. This was after we had been there for 2 hours and everyone else had received their items. At the end when we asked for our check they were all mixed up and confused. The waitress then blamed us for adding things and moving around. We never moved once and she only came around the one time when she originally took our orders. We never got a chance to add things. (it was quite comical that she tried to say that) I ended up asking for manager because she seemed overwhelmed and a bit bias about our group. Assuming that we wouldn't want one check and splitting them because she figured we would want it that way and then blaming us because she did it when we never asked for split. There rule is parties over 8 have to have 1 bill and we never asked for an exception. There was just her assumption that a group of black women wouldn't want to do that. (I digress) There were a few more things but I will end it there. That was the big negative. Now the positive!!! Ambiance 10/10 - great views, great music, great location, umbrellas on roof were great although a but wobbly and scary. Also, they come around with complimentary sunglasses while dining. I thought this was a nice and luxurious touch! Food 8/10 - most food received was delicious Service 9/10 - everyone except for our server was great! Everyone who pitched in to help was awesome! Ended up tipping a different server who basically helped us the whole time. Bless his heart because I know he was super busy. As stated above management handle the situation well. I would definitely go back! I try to give people a chance. I think our server may have been overwhelmed and had a past experience that left her bias against our group but hopefully she can grow and get better. Her actions don't reflect the restaurant as a whole! Go and enjoy the vibes and views!

Note: they also have a decent selection of bourbons and local beer on tap and by the can. 3.) I can't stop thinking about the homemade ricotta bacon jam with sliced baguette. All thoughts of eating healthy were swept aside when this dish rolled out. "Healthy who?" 4.) I'm always advocating that beets could use more representation on menus (besides in salads...). Very knowledgeable staff and servers described all the ingredients and notes of flavor to look for in the dishes very well. Everyone form the hostess to the bartender and bus boy were friendly and welcoming. definitely 5* for service. The menu is a mix of several cuisines from Korean to Italian and even some French with a twist. The menu has great vegetarian options. Unfortunately the chef's tasting menu wasn't available as my reservation was made same day, but I decided to go with the two specials of the day. Dinner kicked off with a shot of Champaign on the house They like welcoming their guests that way. Water kept being refilled immediately. The staff again was very attentive. As an appetizer I went with the Scallops crudo with house made berry vinegar. The crudo was a healthy serving of scallops. Crispy raw carrots and radish provide some texture, while greens including endive provided some bitterness. This dish was a bit heavy on pepper and bitterness from the endives and could use some acidity to balance it out. Scallops were not as sweet as I was expecting. A bit more of the homemade raspberry vinagrette would have been perfect. The dark blue ring caused by the marination process would have shown more on a different color serving plate instead of a black bowl. For the main course I ordered the Beet linguini with sea bass. Interesting take on linguini Pickled rhubarb, rainbow radishes, fresh dill and a 'beet marinara' sauce reminded me of borscht. Unfortunately the linguini was overcooked and soaked up a lot of the butter and sauce. The pickled rhubarb provided a break from the heaviness of the dish but overall the dish lacked brightness. Sea bass was perfectly cooked. Seared and crusted with salt and pepper on one side, simple. Well executed but nothing special. For dessert I went with the Strawberry dacquoise which was delicious. The white chocolate bark with pink peppercorn stole the show. It should be layered inside the dessert! I wanted more of it. This dessert was not overly sweet. it was a great mix of pistachios and strawberry and fluffy cake. Gelee was a bit too dense but otherwise fantastic end to a good meal.

The service was one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant/bar and I was insulted by the owner. The Bar: Horrible service and over $14 for a 16 oz draft beer and a glass of Ecco Domani wine. The bar service was impressively slow, involving over 15 minutes at the bar twice. The bar was not that busy, and after being asked for my drink order 3 times, (after the 2nd time, I could see my drinks sitting at the other end of the bar), I was handed my bill for drinks without actually receiving the drinks or asking for my tab. Considering I'd been at the party for less than 1 hour at this time, I told them this was ridiculous and I didn't want my drinks. The OWNER was there, and then proceeded to insult me stating that I didn't understand service at a busy bar because I didn't have a business degree (there were never more than 3 people ordering at the bar at one time, they had self-imposed issues causing issues with the tab). I was respectful, but critical, and did not cause a scene or raise my voice. Several friends witnessed the interaction, and all were amazed at how confrontational and condescending he was. Food: There were 3 appetizers set out - wings, meatballs, and spinach dip. All were standard frozen fare, not bad, but sat there open for over 3 hours with no tending. I was going to order dinner, but after the bar service, decided against. Atmosphere: Standard - not especially inviting. Final: Considering the horrible service and insults directly from the owner, I will not be heading back. Prices for drinks are more appropriate for clubs downtown.
