Stopped by BZ grill to grab lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by the portions and quality. I sat inside, and tried the classic gyro, bistek, and Greek fries. While the bistek was fun and unique in that there was melted cheese inside the meat, I found the classic gyro to be much tastier. Don't skip out on the Greek fries, as the cheese is crispy and salty, and is paired great with hot sauce. Not the most affordable spot, but it's good!

Tried this place 2 days in a row. First day, we tried the platter for 2 people, came with pork & chicken gyro and sausage/burger version with rice and it was good. Portion can be better though. Second day, tried the Chicken gyro sandwich and they added fries. Looked pretty huge but surprisingly light and delicious! Not a pretty long wait for orders to go since they make it fresh upon ordering, the staff always greets you and have been nice and friendly!

Came here after an appointment and not eating all day . I got the pork souvlaki platter it was so good it was all fresh and came to my table in 10 min . The meat was nice and charred the arranged salad was nice and fresh the cheese and the sauce was very flavorful. The place doesn't have any frills but definitely nice and clean and brightly lit . Servers are very nice and attentive asking if everything is alright occasionally. Everything was very good and I will definitely come back when in the neighborhood

    Falafel gyro lunch special

We stopped by after checking my dad out of the hospital in the city since he was famished and my uncle loves this place. We sat outside in the gorgeous fall weather and ordered three lunch specials (2 pork and 1 falafel). The server was super friendly and tended to us right away and our food was made pretty quickly. The pita was soft and stuffed to the gills with filling. The falafel was nice and hot and not spicy (I don't tolerate spice well and most places that offer falafel as an option are too spicy for me), and the lettuce and tomatoes were nice and fresh. There was the perfect amount of tzatziki on it as well where it complemented the flavors without overpowering everything. And the fries...omg the fries. Love love love! Crispy almost like battered fries with a nice chewy center, and a nice heaping portion for a lunch special. The guys loved their gyros as well and ate every last bite. The bathroom was nice and clean as was the whole restaurant (small area but good use of space with the seating). Definitely stop by and grab the gyros that live up to hype!

Serafim, the mad scientist-esque founder/owner sold BZ Grill to Margarita. And just when you think that this place couldn't get any better, it did! If you like Yeeero/gyro/doner then this is the place for you. Two types are offered: pork and chicken. I had the sandwich made even more special by the fact that BZ uses pita by Mediterranean Pita, otherwise known as the best commercially baked pita. I also ordered the pork platter to go and someone back at the apartamento will most certainly be hangry. Feeling a bit drowsy, I ordered a Turkish/Greek coffee to stay. You know the type with all the residue at the bottom. My relatives back in the motherland would seize the opportunity to flip the cup and read the coffee grinds that were slowly creeping down the cup's interior. Young women's' grind readings would inevitably go like this: [spoken by the coffee grind reader while staring intensely at the grids] "you will love a long time, see this is your lifeline and it's long [pointing to so random line between the grinds]. You will also go on a long trip and meet a tall, dark and handsome man who will sweep you off your feet...". You get the drift. Anywho, I noticed that they also had Ekmek Kataif for dessert and so was all over that like the coffee grinds to the inside of the dainty coffee cup." What a delightful calorie laden lunch! So kudos to Margarita! The King is metaphorically dead, long live the Queen!

RUN DONT WALK to this casual Greek joint in Astoria! Finally a dine in and takeout place with reasonable prices and deals. $13.50 lunch special, sandwich fries and soda, spans FIVE HOURS (11-4). Very very delicious food. Even though it's primarily takeout, we recieved good service. 6 tables inside and outdoor seating available, too. They have a wine and beer selection, as well. Under $30 for two people! Four stars because it's not ~aesthetic~ inside, but that is not an issue. Also, bathroom for patrons.

By far, for me, the best griiled meat eatery in Astoria. Gyro tender platter is a favorite. Its so fresh and delectable. A full meal. The ambiance of this eatery is modern, clean and bright. Service is top notch. Price is right. Its simply the best!! The only thing hard to find here is parking. Street parking is tough but park a bit far and walk.

Lunch Special (~$10): chicken gyro with fries and soda

Ordered: Lunch Special (~$10): chicken gyro with fries and soda Aya's take: I mean can you really beat this? Gyro, fries, AND soda for $10? Come on now. You can get this from M-F 11am-4pm during their Lunch Special, and it is so worth it. The gyro is huge and loaded with fresh chicken gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, and tzatziki sauce. The side of fries are beyond crispy, fresh, and addicting. You can't have a good meal without a drink, so the soda was a great way to tie the whole meal together. The chicken had a nice mixed of moistness and crispy parts. The tzatziki was fresh and they don't skimp out on what they give you. Delicious and affordable option for lunch! You can't go wrong.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

The atmosphere is effortlessly comfortable -- the kind of place where you just know everything coming out of the kitchen will be fresh. And it was. We started with an assortment of traditional spreads: taramosalata, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, skordalia, and melitzanosalata, all served with warm, pillowy pita. Each one was vibrant and flavorful -- perfect for sharing (or not). Then came the feast: marinated and grilled squid, swordfish steak, red snapper, lamb chops, crispy potatoes, and more sides than we could reasonably justify ordering... but absolutely did anyway. Our waiter thoughtfully asked if we had any allergies. By the end of the meal -- slightly comatose, blissfully full, and having completely lost track of time -- we realized the only thing we might be allergic to is work. Bahari isn't just lunch -- it's an escape.

We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!
