I really love this store. I used to always go to IFA before moving to West Jordan, but this is a regular go-to for me for all my needs as a chicken mom. They have pretty much everything you need for tending to small animals, and even some supplies for large livestock. They have great prices and watch the ad that comes in the mail, they usually have good stuff in there in the spring. read more

Product selection and store layout are pretty good-but you'd better know what you need, because the likelihood of getting help is pretty low. It's disappointing to walk in to a store with intention of dropping some coin, but can't get anyone to help you. If you do make eye contact with an associate from across the store, by the time you get to them, they disappear down an aisle. I hate to think it's because I don't look the "type" of their traditional customer, but I was frustrated with the lack of service. How do you adequately describe a CAL Ranch store if you've never been? It's something of a mix between a hardware store, a clothing store, and a sporting goods store. Oh, and also a tack & feed store. Makes sense, right? This is a big ol' store way out on 78th South on the west side. Too big, really. There's a lot of empty shelf space here, but there's also a lot for sale. Hardware? You betcha. A whole thwack of country clothing including cowboy boots, legit cowboy hats, and a really big selection of Carhartt merchandise, too. And some outdoorswear. And speaking of outdoors, you've got a fishing section, sporting goods section, and a small gun counter and ammo section. The back is part feed store with sacks of poultry and horse feed, fencing, and everything you need for your ranch, urban or otherwise. The surprises just keep coming. It's not all fancy. For a feed store, it's actually quite nice, but there's not a huge emphasis on presentation and endcaps and merchandisers. But it's definitely worth the trip to wander around to see what you can find. read more

Horrible interaction with an employee named Sky ! Situation came around that some bully sticks were miss labeled . This employee took it upon herself to Throw what can only be described as a full blown tantrum ! She got on her mic, proceeded to yell stating she was going to kill someone for not reading the labels and then proceeded to leave the check stand to go pull the product . In the meantime time I was left at the register while she stomped off . Once she returned with the bucket mislabeled she proceeded to rip into two other younger male employees and called someone up for an override and a key ! I understand we all have bad days but this young lady from the start was tearing into other co workers and flipping out in front of customers . No acceptable ! My order was small this time and give her the credit for being nice enough to honor the price since it was miss marked . In no way shape or form should an employee begin arguing scolding or demeaning other employees . Regardless of it being in front of customers or others at any given time . Myself and the guy checking out next to trying to buy an air soft gun we're left watching a fight between three of your employees that was started by this young lady . I almost walked out and left all my stuff there ! Not sure I'm going back anytime soon after this incident . Store on a side note was fully stocked , had a lot to offer in way of pricing and goods. I come here often for chicken supplies and I can find what I want and the prices are decent. Right now, masks are mandatory to enter the store. There are several signs that say so. Apparently, it's to enter the store, but not while you're inside. I lost count of the folks I saw walking around with out the mandatory mask AND I saw one employee without one. If they're mandatory, who's enforcing it? For the most part it's a good place to go although if you need help good luck finding someone to answer questions. You can almost never find an employee when you need one. read more

This store lacks customer service and intelligence. I went into buy food storage buckets of which all were on the very top shelf with a sign that says ask for assistance. People standing around all over and you think I could get anyone to help me. Screw this location. If you want people to buy stuff put it where they can get to it and clean up your customer service issues. I ended up leaving and will have to find them elsewhere. read more

This place is a joke! The manager is a clown and needs to be retrained on company policies! I was denied purchase of a firearm because my very valid and legal utah motorcycle permit was "unacceptable" to the manager. I have purchased firearms with my motorcycle permit from the Draper cal ranch store so I called and asked and even they said it is a valid form of ID and I should've been able to purchase the firearm. The gentleman behind the counter also verified he had never heard of them not accepting a valid form of government ID. Don't know what her problem was or why she wants to lose customers, but that's very poor management. From now on the Draper Cal Ranch will be the only one I go to. read more

I've only been to this store once. Was not impressed by the way the store was set up. I went in around 11 am and they had carts in aisles that made it hard to get what I needed. A lot of the things I needed they were out of but said they had stock in the back. After they worked diligently to try to find what I needed in the back, they couldn't find it. So, I unfortunately only got a few things of which I didn't even go for. I had to go to IFA to get what I needed. Not very many staff there to help either. I had to hunt someone down, and finally found someone up at the front who seemed more interested in talking to their Coworkers rather then helping me. Will most likely go back because there aren't many alternative options. read more

Full of odd and ends that may not sell for years but it's that one part you're looking for. Sure, it's farm oriented and many of those items are probably not used for their intended use but that's farm life, improvisation. Employees are not trained to handle customer question. I can never find product because it keeps moving locations and the employees can't seem to find anything either. and I wonder why they can't keep the good employees, they are fired, or employees quit on the spot and walk out. CAL ranch needs to figure their stuff out. Will not be shopping there any time soon. Isles are not marked and you never know what checkstand is open because there are no lights or signals to tell you where to go. read more

Generally good selection of items related to farm animals and country clothing. Firearm section is similar to a low-grade store, and should either be improved or dropped. Good selection of Stihl, Honda and Dewalt make it a nice place to stop in and shop at; although regular prices are much higher than online or other retailers, so be sure to watch for sales. Several weeks ago I purchased a 22 Long rifle caliber pistol. I took it to the firing range that day and found that it had a serious and dangerous flaw which caused it to fire like an automatic weapon. I took it back to the store and asked if it could be exchanged for the same model or if I can get a refund because of the serious nature of the defect. I was denied balls and told that the only option was to have it sent to Georgia to have it checked for flaws and to be fixed or replaced. So they had my money and I had no product and no option. The gun was sent to Georgia and after several weeks of calling the store to get information on where my gun was what process had been taken to fix it or to replace it I was given no information but reassured that they would call the manufacturer and call me back with updated information. No such thing happened in fact in most occasions when I spoke with employees at the store I was spoken to very rudely especially when it was with a manager. I was cut off numerous times spoken over and told that there was nothing that they would do to assist me. I then decided to contact Georgia myself and speak with the manufacture and got all of the information that I needed within a matter of minutes. The managers of the store where I purchased a gun we're not only rude condescending and spoke down to me but would not even take the time to contact the manufacturer to provide me with a little comfort in knowing that I hadn't handed over hundreds of dollars for a gun that I would never see you again. DO NOT GET PROPANE HERE !!, I stopped by to fill my bbq bottle went in and told guy at counter I needed propane 10 minutes later I went in again and asked to get propane about 10 more minutes went by and asked inside again at the counter for propane seen a woman in door way asked her if she was getting me propane she said no only the guy at the gun dept counter can do it ! The were 3 women 1 guy with long hair at the counter not able to get propane !,"why don't you CROSS TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE ?? , You had four people at the register standing around why don't they pump propane!! I waited at gun dept in line to get propane about 8 min then a manager named JAMIE came to gun dept. to verify gun sale she was asked to get me propane when I went out to get it their was a woman waiting now too said she has asked 2 times inside no one was sent out !! total of four timers I asked plus almost 30 min wait to have MANAGER JAMIE DO IT FOR ME WITH AN ATTITUDE , DON`T KNOW WHAT IS WORSE YOUR LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE OR MANAGE OR JAMIE`S ATTITUDE !! This store is terrible at customer service. I've spent over $ 2000.00 on chain saws and equipment this month. I can't get anyone to do any service work for me. When i call to schedule an appointment they tell me to call back in a couple of hours. I've been doing that all day. Now they said call back tomorrow. Really!!!!! I can walk around the store looking for help and All I get is dirty looks from employees that just stand there talking amongst themselves... Managers are absolutely no help. I stopped in at Cal Ranch and was amazed. Sure, there is all of the hardware, pitchforks, and animal stuff. But there is also a great selection of everyday apparel. I loved the purses and jewelry specially selected for the clientele that shops there. Also, a great home decor area with artwork, nicknacks, etc. That, along with friendly employees, and a clean and attractive store will have me coming back. read more

First of all I like the store itself the selection is great and prices competitive but the people that work there can never answer any of your questions, employees jest not knowledgeable. The big problem I had the last time I was there was horrific the check out lines was backed up half way through the store , they had two registers open on one side and one on the other . Of course when I finally got up to the register the guy in front of me had a problem with his purchase so they needed to C-A-L a manager. It took probably five minutes for the manager to show up they got the problem fixed, then the manager looked seen how long the lines were she walked over and opened another register on the side they had two already going . Instead of opening two on each side to help all people she choose to help the line that was moving faster THANKS FOR THE BIG HELP MANAGER. I will not be back to the West Jordan store again read more

Nice place, lousy customer service. Only one of the associates I encountered bothered to smile and ask if I needed help. All the others, glared at me and acted as though they were doing something else. I wasn't looking for assistance, but I wasn't looking for dirty looks either. I got attitude from the lady at the check out too. She acted annoyed that I didn't know they have not updated their card readers. (like most other merchants already have.) I have been going to this store for several years now, and I see it going down hill fast. The middle aged guy that works in the back with the chicks and the feed is friendly and helpful, but he is the last one. You can tell the female associates that work there are all very unhappy, and have caustic attitudes that are spreading to everyone that works there. Some of the things you can find here are great. The customer service is awful, though so we won't be returning. I was needing a barrel of timothy hay for feeding and what they gave me was straw (basically not edible). I looked at the bags of hay they had, they only had alfalfa and i wanted a barrel anyway and asked a young man to assist me, to which he rolled his eyes and told me to wait. I didn't mind waiting, but the attitude was not necessary. I asked him if they had barrels of timothy hay for feeding and he directed me to the front. I asked the girl at the front about barrels of timothy hay and she asked if I meant straw (at the time I didn't know the difference), I told her it was for feeding and asked how they were different. She said they were basically the same so I paid and was told to wait outside for someone to get it for me. After waiting for a while and finally getting home I realized my animals weren't eating the straw so I looked it up and it's not edible, not even really good for their bedding. So, this trip was mostly a waste, except now I know they don't have what I'm looking for and even if they did I wouldn't go back.. read more
