Etienne helped me look for a car for a little while, he was able to listen to all my preferences…read moreand continued to update me on any new car options, the day we purchased the car was very smooth and he had been a big help from beginning to end.

It's pretty well established that one of the things that helps when dealing with the used car world…read moreis a connection. In this case, I had a friend who knew I was looking for a car and knew that I had a fairly unique situation because I'm a driver who also uses a wheelchair. I do not drive a van. I typically drive a 2-door automatic with hand controls. The catch here is that I have to make sure that there's enough space between the driver's seat and the door frame to make sure I can slide my wheelchair into the backseat. It's harder to find than you might expect. Sports cars typically are too small. Luxury cars tend to have extra amenities that take up more space. When I was younger, it was easy to find such a car. These days, it's much harder. My friend made arrangements so that she could drive me to Shelbyville to try out three cars that I identified as possibilities I wanted to try. Basically, I wanted to try to get my wheelchair into the back seat. My friend knew the general manager here, and I have no doubt that helped. He was super friendly and very attentive. When we arrived, he had the three cars ready for me to look at and a fourth one he thought might work. One car that I wanted to try ended up not being ready. I tried an Audi 5 (didn't work), a Ford Mustang (didn't work), and one other car where the type is currently escaping me. It didn't work. For fun, I looked at a 2008 VW Beetle (that didn't work). We did try a Honda Civic that did work - but it had way too many miles on it. This is definitely a smaller lot, especially for being a Hubler lot. I'd never actually dealt with Hubler before, but I was impressed with this visit. I'd been checking their lot for a possible return visit, but I did end up finding what I wanted elsewhere. Overall, however, I appreciated that they seemed to have an understanding of what I was trying to do and went out of the way to let me try cars. That's rare in a world where most car places either don't quite get disability or are ready to pounce and exploit. While I've purchased a car (still waiting on it to arrive), I'd easily return here in the future.

Looking at a car this dealership had for sale. We were going to drive up and test drive. We noticed…read moreupon pulling the car up again the next morning, they had increased the price. The description they wrote on the car was all about how they have dropped the price to increase traffic on the car. Spoke with a salesperson who told me this dealership and her manager practice this "bait and switch" type sales tactic all the time. She explained it gets us to call in about the car and then they have the opportunity to sell us a car. It generates leads for them. They have no intention of selling the car at that price (will make it up by changing numbers around on fees as she stated "the numbers are easy to manipulate"). Obviously they walk a dangerously thin line legally. I knew car sales had these practices 50 yrs ago before consumer rights were becoming more protected, but you just don't see this anymore. If you look at all their pricing online, this is the tactic they use to generate leads and sales. I would stay away from this dealership because if they still utilize the old "bait and switch" methods, what else are they being dishonest about. Honesty and integrity are just that, in an industry that historically had a bad reputation, it is sad to see a dealership still doing things that make the industry look horrible and cause consumers not to trust. STAY AWAY! They will probably honor the base price but they will recoup in fees to the untrained buyers eye.
