First customer in at 4:00, great service until another table came in and then we waited on waiter to correct the check and return with it. Added things to check to raise balance for bigger tips which he added on to the check himself and then asked for more at the bottom of check. Was trying to decide where to go for Valentine's dinner. Since this place is close to home and had an open reservation, we decided to give them a try. Arrived at 6:10 for our 6:30 reservation and was seated right away. Out the gate service seemed to be slow. It took about 8-10 minutes before our server came over to get our drink orders. As the evening continued the service seemed to get even slower. Although this was a holiday weekend, I don't think that was the reason for the slowness. It appeared that they were under staffed and only one person working the bar. They had a set menu for Valentine's Day which ended up being pretty good. I didn't really like that they didn't allow you a choice of regular menu or the set menu. Appetizers: Caesar Salad & Shrimp scampi. The shrimp scampi was seasoned to perfection. Main course: Steak mashed potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were seasoned wonderfully. The steak was cool. Not nasty but the waiter made it a point to say the executive chef was from steak 48. Shouldn't have mentioned that because there was no comparison on food or service. Dessert: We went with the apple pie and ice cream pie which the pie was more like apple bread pudding. We ordered the filet, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, the grilled Brie, and the coffee and chocolate rubbed ribeye. Also macaroons and a very nice crème brûlée. The Brie was baked (not grilled - not sure how you'd do that anyway), and the au gratin potatoes could have been cooked a little more. The sprouts were great. We decided on this spot for our pre-Thanksgiving meal because it kept coming up in my social media pages. I believe it's been different things and even rebranded very recently. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly in a surprisingly empty dining room. JoJo was kind and attentive. We started with a drink called the "porn star" simply because of the name. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes or seasonal vegetables, though I would've loved to have tried the creamed spinach. The Gorgonzola was very good, but strong so use in moderation - probably would've been better with the ribeye, but I enjoyed it. The creamy tomato Parmesan sauce is my favorite. I recommend ordering extra - put mine over my rice and dipped the pork chop in it. I wanted my pork chop, medium, and they cooked it perfectly. It was very tender, mildly flavored so the creamy tomato and gorgonzola were a good choice. Service was stellar, ask for James - he is excellent, made good recommendations. He informed me that everything is made in house, fresh, not frozen, not shipped in. The flavors and texture (especially shrimp) were spot on. This might be because the servers are apparently also doing some bar service (wine pours) and bussing tables. The food: Steak was not seasoned at all and mac & cheese was incredibly salty. I went here for an organizational lunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised! Sorry no pics this time. But the restaurant is quaint and nicely structured. Our meal was buffet style. Loved the pan roasted salmon! It was perfectly seasoned and cooked very well. The fall salad with vinaigrette was flavorful and the candied nuts in it were a nice touch. The roasted smashed baby potatoes had a nice saltiness, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Enjoyed the zucchini and carrots side as well. Despite being in the warmers, they stayed crisp. The paccheri pasta with cheese was a nice twist on macaroni and cheese. Delish. Our meal ended with a choice of cake. I decided on the chocolate. Talk about moist and rich! The mousse between the layers was light and smooth. I don't know if it's normally on the menu, but if so, try it if you have a sweet tooth like mine! The staff was outstanding! Came here on a Saturday night. The ambiance is nice for a strip mall. I like the affect of the chandeliers. Food was not worth the price. My 16oz ribeye was full of huge chunks of fat... so much so that I asked if the $50 steak was choice or prime grade (see photo). The waiter confirmed it was prime. Steak did not come with a side, and I was not that hungry so I ordered the she crab soup ($14). Not sure on what planet this qualifies as "she crab soup" ? It was simply a flavored butter broth with a mound of fresh crab in the middle. I don't do well with butter sauce, so asked for some bread to settle my stomach, which the waiter had offered when we sat down at the table but never delivered. After several minutes it was explained to us that the restaurant was completely out of bread and all tables had to wait 20 minutes for them to bake some more. What ? The restaurant was not even busy. We were there around 5:30 and there were maybe 10 customers in the whole restaurant. When the foccacia bread was eventually delivered, it was very tasty. I also got the prickly pear mojito cocktail ($14). It was very good but absolutely full of ice and the straw was one of those horrible paper straws. Hubby got the chocolate crusted NY Strip over mashed potatoes with veggies. The veggies were very thickly sliced. If I ordered this, I would ask them to cook the veggies longer. We shared the chocolate bomb for dessert ($12). It was very good. We learned that the chocolate bomb and macarons were purchased by the restaurant and only the NY cheesecake and creme brulee are made in house. There were 2 waiters that did check frequently on us and had a pleasant attitude. Women's restroom was pretty. Overall, I doubt I will go back. After paying $175 for the meal not including tip and having sub-par food, this is not the experience I would expect. read more

I'm genuinely disappointed to be writing this review, especially because this restaurant had been on my list for months. My husband surprised me with dinner here to celebrate our anniversary, and unfortunately, it became one of the most underwhelming dining experiences for $265 that we've had -- not because of the cost, but because the experience simply did not justify it. We would have gladly spent more had the service and hospitality matched the pricing. From the start, the experience felt unorganized and inattentive. There is no clear hostess stand, so we stood waiting to be acknowledged. Despite having a reservation, we were initially directed to a very cramped table with little room for comfort or personal belongings. I don't place my purse on the floor, and with the medical boot I was wearing, my foot would have been directly in the walkway. We politely declined and waited while other tables opened. When we were then about to be seated directly next to the front door, I approached the hostess and asked if another table was available, explaining that I wanted to avoid a draft on my foot due to the boot. Although our reservation had already been confirmed, she asked again if we had one -- a small but telling moment that reflected a lack of awareness and care. What made this interaction worse was realizing, in that moment, that she did not want to seat us in the section I inquired about. I observed her whispering to multiple staff members while escorting us to the table, and shortly after, a single couple across the restaurant was seated in a similar section without issue. This made it clear that the hesitation was not about availability, but discretion -- which was both frustrating and unprofessional. Management can easily verify this via camera footage if needed. Throughout the meal, service was rushed, disengaged, and transactional. We never felt welcomed or encouraged to enjoy the experience. Even while eating the bread, we felt hurried. When I asked our waitress for her opinion on the seasonal vegetables, her response -- "That's up to you if you like that kind of thing" -- was particularly disappointing for a steakhouse positioned at this level, where guidance and attentiveness should be standard. I ordered my steak medium plus, but it arrived closer to medium rare. While I chose not to send it back, the overall lack of attentiveness made it feel easier to accept than to address. The food itself was fine, but nothing stood out enough to justify the anticipation or cost. Small but telling details continued to add up -- I watched another server carefully box leftovers for their table, while I was simply handed a box. What ultimately stood out most was the absence of hospitality. No one asked if we were celebrating anything, nor was our anniversary acknowledged in any way. For a restaurant that markets itself as an upscale steakhouse and a destination for special occasions, the lack of warmth, polish, and guest awareness was striking. Management should take this feedback seriously and reassess front-of-house training, guest engagement, and service standards, as this experience did not align with the restaurant's pricing, positioning, or reputation. My wife and I always enjoy the Queens Feast Restaurant Week as it's our opportunity to try and find new restaurants to add to our list to patronize throughout the next year. Unfortunately, C&W Steakhouse will not be added to this list. For starters, the external facade of the restaurant makes you think you are entering a very upscale restaurant but, that's where it stops. The table layout is not well thought out in terms of privacy and away from the waitstaff. The overall decor falls short of pulling off what the facade is trying to convey. There is a logoed Coke fridge in the main dining room and an open view of what looked like an old prep-station. Not conducive to a four or five star dining experience. We opted for the set menu for the Queens Feast figuring these must be their best dishes they want to showcase for restaurant week. The starters were good as we had the Papas Bravas and sautéed Brussel Sprouts. My wife commented the Bravas Sauce was heavy on the mustard flavoring even though that is not an ingredient in the traditional sauce. For the mains we had the Tomahawk Pork Chop and the Filet Mignon and that's when the wheels came to a halt. The Filet was overcooked (asked to be medium rare and it came out medium to medium well) it was covered in some gravy that was not stated in the menu description. The waitstaff needs to tell the guest if they want this on the steak or on the side. The Pork Chop was smothered in a tomato cream sauce that made table presentation very unappealing as well as flavorless. The dishes both came with seasoned mashed potatoes and string cut zucchini that was bathed in an overly buttery and salty sauce. The final course was the dessert, which felt like the chef just went to Food Lion and picked up some items from the bakery or frozen dessert section. The "deconstructed cheesecake" was a slice of cheesecake cut into three pieces that were placed on the plate in an "artisan style" that did nothing for the flavor. Although the menu description states " decontamination allows for a focus on the individual flavors and textures" nothing could be further from the this happening with a slice of premade cheesecake. The Strawberry Bunt-Cake had the flavor of a children's sweet breakfast cereal (think Fruity Pebbles) and was obviously bought not made in-house. This strawberry cake was supposed to be the "Chefs Choice" For restaurant week C&W missed the mark every step of the way including the waitstaff; each course brought out was incorrectly placed for who ordered the dish at the table. Sorry, this is four/five star table stakes in presentation to your guests. We won't be returning to C&W and we hope that they read this review and appreciate the constructive comments made to ensure future guests don't have the same experience. read more

After we complained about the food we received yesterday, they canceled our reservation on Open Table, so we would not leave feedback. The food was tasteless and dry. The desert was literally crumbs of cheese cake. The food took a long time to come out. The manager gave us a bounce back discount card but I doubt we will be returning. None of group of 10 had a good meal. The best part was the mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. Our waiter, Randall, was attentive and knowledgeable. The pork chop but was dry, hard to cut, and tasteless. The medium to medium rare steaks were also tasteless except for the char, and the restaurant had no steak sauce to aid the lack of seasoning. The lemon chicken was dry and chalky. The shrimp and grits were a breakfast portion - 5 medium shrimp - not worth $45. Try C&W with caution. Thankfully we caught it after leaving an additional 20% tip. We had to have the manager reverse all 3 checks. I would like to be that server38% tip. So instead of the server receiving a 20% + tip.
