Cockney Kings is located on Hastings Street in North Burnaby. Free parking in the Kensington Plaza parking lot. Great place for fresh fish and chips! They also have calamari, shrimp, salad, etc. This is a casual restaurant with dine in and take out available.

One of my friends recommended this place and I tried the cod fish and chips. You have to ask for the tartar sauce. The cod is so soft and the skin is crispy. I ordered it on doordash and I changed my mind to dine in onstead. The servers are really nice to let me dine in even though it was so busy in the evening. Overall, this is a great experience and they are really nice. The cod fish does have a mild fishy odor inside, so if you don't like it, get more of the tartar sauce and white vinegar to cover it up. They also give a lot of the fries which is great.

Food was amazing... Must try the halibut and the Louisiana shrimp the sauce with the shrimp is soooo good. I asked for one to go :-) There is plenty of parking and cute inside. Heather was the sweetest. If I ever visit Vancouver I will definitely go back

I absolutely love fish and chips. I was so excited to try out the bottomless option that they had here. After trying a whole bunch of items on their summer menu, I learned that I much prefer their grilled items to their fried items. The grilled items taste more fresh and flavorful, and I could eat so much more of those whereas the fried fish, onion rings, fries here specifically were heavily breaded and just left me feeling icky. The staff here is fantastic and the vibes are super cute. I'll definitely come back for the prawn tacos and the Cajun Caesar salad.

Got a chance to re-visit this one lately - tucked inside the Kensington Plaza with the Safeway. Monday- Wednesday they offer their all you can eat fish and chip special ~ And since it was a Wednesday , that is what we indulged in. Pricing for the special and other options on the menu seemed fair and reasonable - https://www.instagram.com/vanleo.eatsfood1015/ Fries were honestly pretty lackluster - there was no flavor what so ever , but condiments are available on each table - but would of preferred some sort of seasoning? Fish was fine - batter was nice and crunchy - ( now craving more crunch , thinking about it) - Oil used seemed clean as fish was coming out golden. In terms of service - it was on the slower end of things - waitress doesn't really check on you - however when she does - she was very friendly. The other service members basically ignore you - seems like they have the "not my table , not my problem" mentality - but not sure. Will likely visit again in the future~

Prompt service and delicious fish and chips. Very light, not too greasy, and the 2 piece with chips was the perfect portion. Def would be back again!

I used to think fish and chips need to be a La carte since it's so rare to have good ones, cockney AYCE nights changed my mind, it is sooooo delicious and the fish is huge, recommend to starve urself a little bit before u go otherwise u won't last two rounds. We got a bad corner seat so it was very hard to get server's attention, but otherwise we were pretty happy.

Great fish & chips made an establishment that's been around for eons. I appreciate that this is a local small business that has been in existence for over 55+ years! They've been voted the best in Burnaby & New Westminster, but I'd Vancouver too, if I could! Fantastic variety of battered fish - tonight we had salmon. Ordered a family pack via delivery, so it came with 5 salmon (wrapped in paper - classic!), super large fries (also wrapped in paper), 2 large cole slaws. Also ordered my fav mushy peas in large. Got a bonus small cole slaw for free (a special tonight). No disappointments anywhere - fresh salmon that was moist inside the batter, fries were not greasy, coleslaw had a perfect balance of dressing (others over-drench it IMHO) and mushy peas were the perfect amount of mush, still seems healthy - if that makes any sense. *They have AYCE pollock & chips offer during the week, tho I have never tried it. Otherwise, prices are all fair. Sorry about the pics, I almost forgot to take any before all of it was gone. My first time ordering delivery (have dined in pre-covid) and obviously not my last.

Came here after reading the reviews and hearing recommendations from several people.. The staff is very kind and courteous.. The location is very convenient and accessible.. The place didn't have a single table empty and seems to be a favorite among a lot of folks.. Ordered a mix of Cod and Halibut with chips. The taste was decent but it wasn't as light as was expected i.e. a little much on the oily side for me.. They also do bottomless chips which is nice... May try this place again and order some other items like Calamari that I didn't get to try in the first visit...

I don't know why I don't go to Cockney Kings more often! Their service and food quality is consistently great. My last visit was no different. Of course, since we're in the midst of a pandemic, I didn't get to dine in this time. I picked up my order and enjoyed it at home on my deck. While I was eating, an eagle swooped overhead--he knew how good the food was, but I wasn't sharing! The fries and the batter on the fish remained crisp, the containers of coleslaw were filled to the brim, and there was plenty of tartar sauce! I was very pleased. If you're craving fish and chips, look no further.

It's an amazingly cute family-esque restaurant with lots of selection and affordable pricing. From what I experienced and witnessed while I was there, the decor and the staff created a friendly space for people of all ages. The menu I also felt was reasonably priced, generous and large in portion while maintaining deliciousness. The tartar sauce complements the fish so well adding that needed hint of sour to the heavy frying. Although it looks like a lot to digest, the haddock and salmon were delectable and not as heavy as it might seem. I personally preferred the haddock to the salmon because it was a lot more light but that's for the individual to decide. The gravy and cheese for the poutine was divine and I inhaled everything. My only nitpicks was that the calamari dinner didn't say it had onions in it - would have wanted it without onions but ultimately everything else was great.

I ordered the Float30 Seafood Chowder, which was rich, creamy and filled with clams, smoked mussels, salmon, snapper, prawns, bacon, corn, red pepper and potatoes. It was served with grilled sourdough and was absolutely fresh and delicious! My friend ordered the bestselling West Coast Link Cod & Chips. The cod had a wonderfully light and crispy tempura-style batter and came with house-cut fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. She really enjoyed it! We also had the Strawberry Mojito mocktails, which made us feel as though we were relaxing somewhere in Mexico. They were soooo good and incredibly refreshing! The waitstaff were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, which made our first visit even more enjoyable. We loved everything so much that, before leaving, I ordered another seafood chowder to take home for my husband, as well as the Link Cod & Chips for my son! A wonderful first experience at Float30. We ordered mild flavored and I had asked at the cashier if we could have some mango flavored sauce to try (at other similar joints, there would be bottles of sauces to try), and was told it would be a $1.50 charge. I declined. So it was a nice surprise when the other staff brought a white (think it's garlic something) sauce and a hot sauce for the wings. Then she asked if we wanted water and got us some. The place was quite busy and it took some time for the food to be ready. Saw some customers grumbling about the long wait. Think it took about 15-20 mins for our food. There was lots of orders for delivery. The place was half packed with dine in customers. My friend had the quarter chicken with grilled vegetables and they were good. I had the chicken and rice bowl. I also added pineapple to it. I was expecting grilled pineapple rings but the pineapple was chopped up and mixed into the rice bowl so I could barely see it or taste it. Not recommended to add pineapple. But the chicken rice bowl was delicious! We had the wings to share and they were yummy too. This place also sells cheesecake slices from Cheesecake Factory. It is $10.45 after tax for a slice. I think that's pretty close to what it costs down in the US after currency conversion. So if you love the cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, you don't have to cross the border. This place closes late, around midnight on weekend, so it's great for late night food. As I had not seen my friend in a while, we stayed for quite a while catching up and did not feel like we had to vacate the table immediately after finishing our food. I would come here again for the food and if I get hungry late at night. Side and street parking are available.

For lunch we tried their steak and fries, seafood linguini, calamari, white wine mussels. Considering it is a seafood based restaurant I'd probably would skip the steak and fries next time as the meat was a bit chewy. Favourites was the calamari and mussels for sure! Flavourful and good portions. For happy hour I had the half order of Thai green curry mussels and baja fish taco. Compared to the white wine sauce I enjoyed the Thai green curry and was glad the waiter introduced me to it! This whole experience started off wrong they reservation ended up 30 min late, which these things happened so we weren't put off yet. We finally got seated and the waitress was so apologetic and handed out the menus. Now half the menus were for the brunch service instead of the dinner service. Again it's not a big deal , she took our drink orders and we didn't get those for thirty minutes. Now we're getting put off so it's now an hour past when our original reservation time. We get ignored after the initial seating and only have water and are waiting for drinks. She finally takes our meal order and totally messes that up. Half the table got there mains before the appetizers (after another 30 min). Made another drink order two people didn't receive their drinks after 45 min. Half the food was cold asf . Orders were missing and we essentially had to beg someone to clear the tables we had. By this point it's been 2.5 hrs 1 round of drinks missing food orders and food coming out cold I was done and ready to go. Most of the time if there's a big group of the waitstaff you'd ask what the special occasion was about? Unfortunately that didn't happen ( it was our friends birthday) so at this point the birthday girl was not in a good place and was feeling bad because she wanted to eat here. We at this point requested to talk to management cause the whole situation was out of control and it's clear to me that there was a complete breakdown in the back of the house and the front of the house was not prepared or untrained or understaffed or all of the above. Many of us have worked in the food industry for years so we gave them more than enough grace to get their act together. They failed spectacularly, they did comp parts of the meals and services but that was too little too late. Now when we were leaving we actually bumped into other customers and they had a similar experience as well. All in all I must say that this was by far the worst dining experience I've had in years. I will not be going back anytime soon. I'm not sure what broke down during service and if someone doesn't get disciplinary actions over these issues I'd be very surprised. If you go you've been warned is all I can say

They offered to split our lobster bisque so we could each have our own. We've also tried their tableside salad and desserts before and enjoyed the shows. My toddler wanted to get a closer look. The first time was amazing--the portion was generous and the steak was cooked really well. The second time wasn't quite as impressive, but still enjoyable. This time, however, the Tomahawk was noticeably below the standard I had experienced before. The doneness wasn't quite right, with quite a bit of over-charred exterior, and there was also a lot more fat than I expected. What I found particularly strange was the way the steak was presented this time. Normally, a Tomahawk has the meat on one side of the bone, but this one seemed to have the meat separated into two sections, almost as if it had been cut through the middle of the steak. It just didn't feel like the Tomahawk I was used to having here. The steak also cooled down very quickly, and once it got cold, the texture became noticeably tougher and less enjoyable. The service was also particularly slow this time. We were seated around 7:30 PM and placed our food and drink orders within about 30 minutes. The drinks came out within roughly 20 minutes, which was reasonable, but we waited almost an hour before the first appetizer finally arrived. Considering it wasn't an especially busy evening, the wait felt quite long. That said, the other dishes were still pretty good. I especially enjoyed the Stuffed Squid appetizer. Overall, I still think Alta is a nice option for a small gathering or dinner with friends. I've enjoyed my previous visits, which is why I keep coming back. I just really hope the Tomahawk can return to the quality it had on my first visit.
