Second thing, they said they updated their POS so for some reason the person who had the most alcoholic drinks had been put in with a really high autogratuity, but it was strange because everyone else at the party had the regular autograt of 20% I believe and the only person who was drunk ended up getting 30% or something of the sort. It was very different from the meatballs I'm used to having served in a rich sauce. For the main course, we had the brie-filled pasta with Argentinian shrimp. We traded pieces of flatbread for bites of their Steakhouse Nachos (made with potato chips rather than tortilla chips). My wife hosted her bridesmaid proposal brunch in Carlino's private Alberni Room on July 4th, 2026…read more Twelve guests, two weeks of detailed planning emails, and a final bill of $1,061.16 including a 20 percent automatic gratuity. Breakfast came at approximately 11:00 AM, the salad course at approximately 12:00 PM, and the mains at approximately 12:40 PM. A morning meant to end at 1:00 PM ran to 2:00 PM. In between, nobody checked on the room. Her mother, a bridesmaid and her brother each had to leave the table and go find a server, roughly every ten minutes, across all three courses. There was no water service. The only pitcher was the one left in the room during setup at 10:00 AM, shared between two tables for the entire event, never refilled. Her father and brother, seated at a connected table Carlino arranged, were never offered the mains at all. Staff assumed they did not want to eat and never asked. Three requests later, the fix was to take food off the platters already on the main table. Nobody asked about allergies or dietary restrictions at any point. One guest has a dairy intolerance and received her replacement main at approximately 1:15 to 1:30 PM, while everyone else was eating dessert. We raised it with the assistant general manager before leaving, and were told to email the events manager. Carlino spent three weeks acknowledging in writing that several of these things went wrong, asked what would be a meaningful resolution, and then on July 31st refused every single option: no gift card, no refund of the automatic gratuity, no credit toward a future visit, no gesture of any kind. The space is lovely and the food was good when it arrived. But if you are trusting Carlino with an occasion that only happens once, understand what the recovery looks like when it goes wrong.
