I love what I ordered. I got a Venetian liver. They cooked it perfectly and very tasty. One of my friend ordered a shrimp and zucchini, but they gave her a shrimp and mushroom. It was hard to communicate with them. They said they're going to change it. End up, they gave us two orders of shrimp and zucchini. After all, they took it back and fixed the bill. :) read more

Which restaurants to choose for dinner among the hundreds of reputable places in Venice and near our hotel, the Moresco? Our selection on the first night was a bust. It had great reviews, but disappointing food and service. The second night was fine, but not worthy of a return. The third night was a fantastic multi-stop tour of the Cannaregio District. Finally, the fourth and final night. We walked by Dolfin on several occasions and always admired the atmosphere, but hesitated taking the leap because we favored outside dining in these times of Covid and it only had 4 tables for 2 out front. However, the place was so inviting we broke our rules...and glad we did. - Location: Hard to describe. It was 3 or 4 blocks from the Hotel Moresco, but that involved a number of twists and turns as with most things in the original part of Venice. - Ambiance: Homey. Although we were 4 strangers in this part of the world, the ambiance, smells and staff of Dolfin put us immediately at ease. It reminded me of the great family Italian restaurants in the New York area which every neighborhood seemed to have in the 1960s and 70s. - Menu: Something for everyone. My wife and I are mainly vegetarians (with fish) and had no problem with lots of choices. Plus a nice list of beer and wine. - Food Quality: The best. Dolfin might not serve the fanciest of food, but all 4 of us couldn't get enough. I forgot what we ordered, but everything from appetizers to bread to soup to main courses brought a smile. Great comfort food. - Food Portions: They don't skimp. We're all fans of Italian food and none of us left hungry. - Service: Friendly and attentive. They didn't try to pull a fast one over on the tourists. - Wait for a Table: None. We arrived at 6 PM and were easily accommodated. - Price and Value: The best. We'd normally pay 50% more for a similar place in the US. One of the more interesting facets of our meal - at least for me - was watching people enter Dolfin who seemed like local residents. With all the choices beckoning diners in such a popular destination, it was a welcome sight to note how many patrons were greeted as regulars. Walking through Venice there is a lack of public restrooms. Many of my restaurant selections were influenced by my need to use the restroom and Ca' Dolfin is no exception. There was a gentleman standing in the doorway attempting passersby to eat here. We came in and there was one person eating a seafood soup which my wife immediately identified that she wanted the same thing. We sat down and I had decided on the Diavolo Pizza with "spicy Salami" known as pepperoni. I also ordered a cheese tortellini in cream sauce with ham. After we ordered we used the restroom after hours of walking and shopping. The food arrived and was not bad. The seafood soup hit the spot for my wife and mine was OK. 3.5 stars! read more

This was a great dinner spot. This restaurant was located near our hotel and as we were passing by we decided to try it out. It was very busy at the time. The service here was amazing. Any questions I had, the server helped me out. We sat down near the window, but there were heaters all over so it stayed warm inside (December). Everything looked great, but because we were trying to go to several places, my boyfriend and I decided to get a pizza and the pasta tortellini. We also got a bottle of wine. This is a large menu with first, second and third plate dinner menus. The tortellini is a must ! Out of all the foods I tried in Venice, this specific dish was my favorite ! The sauce was so delicious ! The restaurant feels very cozy and homey. I really enjoyed the food and the overall atmosphere here. read more

Two times within a few days we were in Ca'Dolfin during our stay in Venice. You might get a good pizza anywhere, but if you want to enjoy delicious, homemade, fresh Venetian food, this is the place to go! The host radiated from a passion for the delicious specialties and warm hospitality. Extremely attentive service, never pushy, with a sense of humor, and as someone has already written, "the feeling of being invited to dinner at an old friend's place". No tourist trap. In addition to various antipasti, we tried the "frittura", a huge plate of freshly caught, delicious seafood and fish and vegetables baked in a delicate batter, noting compared to the frozen products that are occasionally found more far away from the coast. Then on the second evening the "Squid Venetian Style" - the best preparation of this classic I've ever had. The "little extra" of grappa or limoncello, which others have already mentioned, was also available, but without it feeling routine. Most certainly an address to which we will return when we are back in Venice, hoping to find a place in the "living room" of the host! read more

We were walking away from the San Marco Square area looking for a seafood restaurant when my wife saw the food being served through the window. We decided to give it a try. We started with the seafood soup which was one of the best I've ever had. We then had the mixed grilled seafood platter for two. Amazingly fresh and incredibly flavorful seafood. And the service was second to none. I read some reviews saying the food was mediocre. That wasn't our experience at all. This place is head and shoulders above all the other restaurants in the area. The food was seriously outstanding. I'm going to be back for sure next time I'm in Venice. Highly recommended. read more
