Long restaurant with banquet seating on the left and minimally spaced tables on the right. Remind my loves to be mindful of their movements. The place was filled upon our arrival and we shut it down, leaving a party of three guys. The cuisine aa expected was delicious. We kicked off with appetizers and a side. Bacadillos for two, empanadas and postings replenish. We shared two entrees of Cameron's Apollo and coco cabana pollo. All parties were satiated and that explains why we did not feed the camera prior to c consumption.

My family used to come a lot. I think the service definitely isn't as friendly as it used to be and the food is okay. I used to love the chiccarones chicken dish but found the chicken to be dry this time. The yuca fries were also very dry. However I really enjoyed the fried fish cakes appetizer. It's so crunchy, flavorful and the guacamole keeps it real fresh. I also enjoyed the Maduros and the shrimp dish. The paella had a decent amount of chorizos and seafood but I found it a bit on the saltier side. I

Very disappointed today. I used to purchase this salad for $13. I went there yesterday. I was told. The salad now is $27. I was shocked. Omg

Very disappointed today I used to purchase this salad for $13. I went there yesterday. The salad now is $25 plus tax $28 never again. Omg.

Empanada on the left. Produce sticker on the top, it was wrapped in the tomato bit beneath it.

Dined in, really enjoyed the drinks and food--had a mango capirinha and empanada entree with maduros. Went home with one leftover beef empanada and about half of the maduros. When I started to eat the empanada the next day, the flavor was still there but I thought the rolled up tomato bit inside looked pretty thick so when I unfurled it, I saw a sticker from the produce wrapped up in there! Last time I shall be visiting Cabana as I'd prefer to not eat paper/plastic logos.

Nancy the server is just an amazing human being!! She went above and beyond to provide great experience. It was my day off and I was looking to take my mom out and honestly I couldn't have chosen a better place. She recommended a passion fruit margarita which was delicious and a piña colada for my mom. We started with a shrimp salad and then a salmon specia!!! It was all great thanks Nancy!

Empanadas were friend and good. Nice outdoor seating atmosphere and a little more upscale vibe in the inside. Went here before a concert and they made sure to get us our food in time before the show started. The food was decent! Nothing insane but good

Dinner last night was good as usual, drink was good had a mango mojito. And the dinner special skirt steak with shrimp sweet plantain coconut rice with black beans. The water was attentive and professional. It was a Friday night so it was full inside and outside, so it was loud.

One of my favorite spots for Cuban food! The paella is absolutely delicious, and you can't go wrong with the skirt steak paired with chimichurri sauce. Drinks are reasonably priced--highly recommend trying the mojito or the sangria. If you arrive early, there's outdoor seating available, which adds to the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Definitely worth a visit!

Went to Cabana twi Fridays ago after work. This restaurant has been a staple here in Forest Hills for so many years. I still remember the seafood salad i ordered here years ago. We ordered the seafood salad - La Plata Ensalada , which is still as delicious as I remembered. With grilled scallops and large shrimps on it. We also got the Parrillada , a combination of different grilled meats- chicken, steak, chorizo. Was not so impressed by this dish as it's lacking some flavor and seasoning. For drinks we had the sangria and the regular mojito. They do their cocktails right, i would recommend it. Overall, the restaurant was not that crowded that night, probably because of the cold weather. The staff were very gracious and attended to us really well.

9/21/24. We stopped here because they had a few outside tables. Valerie, our server was super friendly, and bubbly I hate sending drinks back but the lemon drop martini was beyond sweet, undrinkable even. The second was better, but I would def not order it again. Steak arrived as ordered (med rare) with tasty garlic shrimp. Tostones were well done as requested, just needed some salt.

Mariscadas - looks good but not a lot in there for $34

I had not been to this restaurant for a few years, and only came to meet up with some friends who live in the area. We met up for lunch, there was only the regular menu, no lunch menu. We ordered way too much and had to bag some of the food. The server did not tell us we ordered too much - I mean, we each ordered two food items, as we weren't sure of the dish sizes, but he could have warned us. The food portions were big, but the prices are high for the area. I live in the city and all the Latino places I can think of offer much better value (for lunch). For example, Mariscadas (seafood stew) was $34 and there was only one piece of fish, 2 small pieces of scallops, and mostly small mussels and some sandy (!!!) clams. Not worth it imo.

Great Cuban restaurant. Good service . Fair prices. My paella was filled with fish. Warm atmosphere.

My boys (husband and sons) decided to take me out to dinner on my birthday. It was around 9 p.m., and the timing was perfect. With only a few patrons left, it felt like we had the restaurant all to ourselves like VIPs. While exploring other cultures through food is always an adventure, it can sometimes be a challenge with dietary restrictions. Our server was thoughtful enough to ask us questions beyond the standard food allergy checklist. The menu was full of delicious options, and we decided on coco cabana pollo. It was so hearty that I had to save the rest for later to make room for dessert. The staff sang Happy Birthday and presented me with their coconut brownies. SO yummy!

We've had Dominican food plenty of times, it's not something we eat often but since this place had great reviews, I wanted to try it; the pernil was really good here. It wasn't overly seasoned. I did throw away the excess oil from the pork, other than that, it was tender, juicy and delicious. The lil salad was a great side to the fatty meat. Will definitely return to try other items.

Prices are also really good for the amount of food you get. And everything I've tried has been delicious. The beans though... oh my God. I'm still thinking about the beans. For the amount of food you get for the price, it's amazing! I can't wait to keep ordering from here, and I'm honestly already thinking about placing larger orders for events in the future. Every Friday, my four of us pick a different takeout spot, and without fail, someone always says, "Can we just get The Door?" We've had the curry goat, Rasta pasta, jerk chicken, fried chicken, oxtail, Esco chicken, soups, and the chicken patttttttties... mi God. Mi never taste a food wicked suh yet! Everything is consistently flavorful, fresh, and cooked with love. It's honestly become one of our go to spots because we know exactly what we're getting every single time. In my previous review, I mentioned a less than stellar experience. Looking back, maybe they were just having an off day or maybe I got the pot bottom. Whatever the reason, they've been nothing short of amazing ever since. Whether they changed chefs or tightened things up, whatever you're doing... DON'T CHANGE NADA! And I have to give an honorary shout out to Desrene, one of the wonderful team members who takes the takeout orders. She is ALWAYS pleasant, professional, and genuinely kind. It honestly brightens my day whenever I hear her voice on the other end of the phone. Consistency is everything in the restaurant business, and The Door has absolutely earned this updated 5-star review. Keep doing what you're doing!

Why did I wait so long to come here?!…read more I mean, I know why. It's a bit of a trek from where I live. But I'll happily travel for good food, and Trinciti absolutely justified the journey. As an Indian, I don't say this lightly. I know my Indian food. I was already aware of the historical overlap between Indian and Caribbean cuisines, but Trinidadian food fascinated me. The familiar spices and flavors are there, yet they've evolved into something entirely their own. You can taste the migration story, the adaptation, and the creativity in every bite. A quick practical note because Instagram reels had me misinformed. They do take cards. You don't need cash. Also, parking isn't exactly abundant, and there aren't many nearby places to sit with your takeaway. My advice is to grab a table and eat there. The space itself is small and pretty no-frills, so if you're coming for ambiance, this isn't that kind of place. But if you're coming for flavor, you're in exactly the right place. The setup is simple. You line up, order when it's your turn, and move things along. It's a busy spot, so a little menu reconnaissance goes a long way. The staff are efficient and patient, but they're not mind readers. Asking them whether shrimp or chicken is "better" feels like asking someone whether you should prefer chocolate or vanilla. Both are good. It depends on what you like. We ordered the dhalpuri roti, which is a soft flatbread stuffed with seasoned ground lentils. If you're sharing, ask for it not to be wrapped. Otherwise, it comes rolled up like a wrap. We filled ours with both the curried goat and the oxtail because we weren't there to play it safe. Both were excellent, paired with those comforting, home-style potatoes that soak up all the flavor without overwhelming you with spice. I also couldn't leave without trying the doubles, and we kept it plain. Oh. My. God. Flavor bomb. At its heart, it reminded me of chole bhature's distant cousin. The same comforting chickpea soul, but interpreted through Trinidad's lens with pepper sauces and chutneys that make it unmistakably its own. I honestly think the chutneys are what take it over the top. For the bake and shark though Pay first, take your number, and when they call you up, tell them how you'd like it dressed. Personally, I have a "trust the chef and give me everything" philosophy, so I said yes to it all. The result was a glorious mess of crispy fried shark piled high with pineapple, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and an array of vibrant chutneys that I am still thinking about. They do not skimp on the fish. Watching them assemble it from the front row is part of the fun. Before you leave, do not skip the cassava cake. The raisin dessert was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's entirely personal and worth trying if you have a sweeter tooth than I do. They also sell plenty of snacks and hot sauces, so take a look around before heading out. One final thing I appreciated. They have a restroom and a sink stocked with soap. Trust me, you are going to get messy. That's part of the joy of eating here. If you're the kind of person who side-eyes people for eating with their hands, this might not be your scene. If you're willing to embrace the delicious chaos, Trinciti will reward you generously. I left full, happy, and wondering why I had let distance keep me away for so long. Some places are worth the drive. Trinciti is absolutely one of them.

My Trini friend was shocked that I;ve never had doubles and so this day was my lucky day. When you reach, the servers take your order along with as many toppings and additions. They also had bake and shark, bake and saltfish, and other items to choose from such as dhal puri roti, pholourie with tamarind sauce, it was my first time so I didn't go too crazy and wanted to appreciate the essence of the doubles. I would go back again. It is takeout, so don't get too comfy. Make sure you're ready to grab your order and take that first bite after you leave or reach your destination!

The space itself is pretty small--even with the upstairs seating area. It was actually smaller than I expected. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded at all when I went. I had originally considered hosting my birthday dinner here, and after seeing the layout, I'm glad I didn't. The space doesn't really lend itself to an intimate vibe for larger parties. It feels better suited for smaller groups or a casual dinner. Our host was very nice and offered helpful suggestions, which I appreciated. The menu is a bit limited, but the upside is that many of the appetizers and sides are shareable--and even some of the entrées can be split, which works well for a group. We ordered the oxtail lo mein, scotch bonnet fried chicken, yuca fries, and lobster fried rice. Overall, everything was tasty and enjoyable. The oxtail lo mein and lobster fried rice stood out the most for me in terms of flavor. The yuca fries were solid as well. The scotch bonnet fried chicken, however, didn't wow me. It wasn't bad at all, but there was nothing particularly memorable about it. It's actually one item I wouldn't mind seeing replaced with something a bit more unique. I didn't order any drinks this time around, but I might try a cocktail if I visit again. Overall, it was a good experience with solid food and friendly service--just keep the cozy size in mind when planning your visit.
