My review is about the restaurant that they have. We were some what hungry and we decided to eat there because my husband had to check out a gun so we thought that we should have lunch. We ordered a hamburger it came with fries and a drink. When we received our order we had more bun than burger. The burger was so thin and we barely found the lettuce and tomatoes. The fries were tasty but we wanted a burger and not get filled up with fries. I gave them 2 stars because it came with a drink. I think with all the money Cabelas makes they would at least offer a juicy big burger. read more

Wow, what a disappointing experience. My wife and I stayed the weekend in Reno, while retrieving our daughter from her first year at U of Nevada. I was very excited to visit the Cabelas store front as we do not have one in Las Vegas. What a let down. Not one person knew one thing about a single product and not one person showed any interest with answering a single question. This stuff is super expensive. Your ego can't be so big that you don't have competition. I love most of the Cabelas branded products, but there are other choices I hope you realize. This coming on the tail end of a horrible experience with a return where I was advised incorrectly by a rep on the phone, had to mail some products in only to find that I can't do that. The amount of merchandise is amazing. The animal displays are great. Prices a little over the top. Trying to get any help was a total failure. Groups of employees standing talking to each other was evident in every department. Knowledge of the products sold was lacking. Management is the problem at Reno Cabela's. The employees are allowed to gather in groups and complain about store policy and discuss other topics vice assisting customers. When you interrupt and ask a question they vanish like smoke in the wind. Bottom line I have their card I use their merchandise and now I am looking at alternatives. Regional managers must not exist in the corporation. read more

I took a trip from California to Cabela's for Ladies day out on Mother's Day weekend and it was fabulous! I was most interested in learning archery. Eric was a fantastic teacher and I learned a lot! We aimed at balloons that had prizes inside, and I won a 20 dollar gift certificate. There was also a duck and goose call demo by Jake and Hailey, they were awesome and very informative. There was also a very thorough and interesting seminar on shotguns put on by Susan and Solome from the Northern Nevada shooting chapter, and I won some shotgun accessories and received some free gifts. At the end of each seminar I received a VIP badge for attending that allowed me an employee discount for all of the items I purchased after the seminars. All the employees are knowledgeable and professional. Very highly recommend attending ladies day out! read more

I'm not a hunter, fisher, skier, or experienced "outdoorswoman" but I have to say that Cabela's has it goin' on! They have pretty much everything you could need for your outdoor adventures. Their prices are very competitive and I was able to get a Columbia 3-in-1 jacket for much less than other retailers in the area! Also, I was able to score my dad's Christmas present - men's all-terrain clogs, usually $70 for a whopping $20! Thanks Cabela's, for saving my pocketbook this holiday season! read more

Cool stuff. Nice that its outside of Reno, but inventory can be better. A lot of stuff I was looking for was out of stock or not available. Don't come here if you are not looking for anything hunting or fishing related because you will not find it. Kinda cool its located next to Boomtown. I give it five stars bc I'm rating as if I'm my hunting father. He would love it here, well-organized and the associates aren't breathing down your throat but they're there if you need them. Expensive, but they seem to have the best. The displays of stuffed animals is pretty cool if you're into that stuff. You could come just to look at the displays honestly. Cabela's stands behind their name! A couple of weeks ago I was fishing the South Fork of the Snake and lost the tip of my 9' 5wt MTx rod. I called Cabela's Reno to see if I could purchase a new tip. They told to bring it in, there is a 25 year warranty on all Cabela's rods. I took it in last week and after explaining what happened, they credited me the price of the rod, waived the shipping and 4 days later a new 9' 5wt MTx rod was delivered to my house. As soon as I walked through the doors I felt like I entered man heaven. This was my first time here and I was literally a big kid in a candy store. All smiles and a lot of "OH, look at that!" They had a clearance section at the very front of the store which caught my eye. Am I cheap? Perhaps. Am I frugal? HELL YA! I got a Cabela's tourist type of tshirt for only $2.88. $2.88!!!!!!! Then some soft cabela pants for only $12. BUT now was the time to walk through the rest of the store. I even brought my camera. No really, I was excited. You find out REAL quick that this place is expensive and that my $75 cabelas gift card that I got for Christmas would go fast. Funny thing is, after walking around for an hour checking everything out I was having trouble deciding. I really didnt want to go very far over my gift card. After taking 15 or so pictures and looking at everything multiple times I grabbed a heavy duty sweatshirt(open range camo in case you wanted to know) and a Browning tshirt. GOOD TIMES! They have a diner there and I was tempted to eat but realized I wasnt hungry and that it would probably be a bad idea. Anyway, AWESOME place, nice service, great stuffed animals/mounts, neat exhibits, cool fishies and everything you could ever want to go camping/hunting. I hope I get another gift card next year! I've seen this so many times but never had enough time to stop and see what is in there. If you like guns and ammo, this is definitely the place. It smells of testosterone or maybe it was just dust. It's got everything you ever need to be outdoorsy. Their "stuffed" animals are better than the museum back home. The one thing surprised me was the cafe. They have bison burger and elk burger. The special of the day was bison french dip sandwich. It comes with French fries, but they let you pick a different side. We picked cilantro coleslaw, which was mild in vinegar, so it was very good to my taste buds. Once I got passed the chewiness of the sliced bison, it tasted okay and seems very healthy (low in fat). The servers were very nice. I like the condiment bar. Along with ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise, they had Ranch dressing. Food prices was reasonable, but merchandise was a bit steep. I don't know how they can make money to run such a big place. read more

Lions Tigers and bears.. oh wait.. there are no tigers. This is a must stop for any trip to Reno for everything from outdoors to housewares but mostly to stretch your legs. They have just about every animal stuffed and on display throughout the store. It gives you a chance for kids to see how big and beautiful these things are. I typically have to pick up some seasonings , roasted nuts or fudge each visit. read more

One of the greatest stores in the area. Always a lot of people there and always something going on. I could spend hours in there but the one downside are prices. If it's not on "sale" there it's usually overpriced. The bargain cave on their website is a great place to get real sales prices on things. read more

This is a mainstream store. From a fisherman's point of view they have most of the stuff you could need. And having clothing, accessories, and boating things nearby helps. But compared to Sportsman's Warehouse and Bass Pro Shops Manteca (10x better) and Bass Pro Shops Las Vegas (100x better), this store is underwhelming. Plus they won't let my dog in. read more

OK, for those in the mountain and desert states, you might not think Cabela's is a huge deal. But for us imprisoned Californians, it is a mecca, esp this store. It is HUGE. Ok but not spectacular as I would have thought. I guess I had great expectations since I've been to the Bass Pro in Vegas. This place is huge and I noticed they actually have a restaurant in there too. This place is one huge single level complex, they have a decent aquarium. Yes and they do have every rod/reel you could ever need, the husband was in heaven. I stuck to the shoes and jackets area and was amused for a bit but then got bored realizing I don't really need any of this stuff in my closet. I really like the North Face stuff, cute girly things that I would wear if need be. Anyway, they also have a huge candy section, lots of choices. I'm still a Bass Pro fan though, they have boats in their store. read more

For some reason my friend thought it would be a great idea to eat at an outdoorsman store after being up all night drinking. I had the "philly cheesesteak" and it was ok but not great. All of the dead animals staged around the store were kind of a turn off but then again hunting and fishing is not really my thing. There are some things that are relevant to my interests, I'm in need of a knife for work and they sure have a wide variety and the salesbro was very knowledgeable about all of the knives. No real reason for me to return though, I can get everything I need from REI right here in the bay area. read more

A land of awe and wonder.....I have never seen anything quite like it.

Since I live about 25 miles from the Reno Cabela's I called them to see if they carried a certain Traeger rub. The gentleman on the phone wasn't real customer friendly but assured me that had some. Since I am on full time oxygen it is necessary to call ahead before making the trip. When I got there about 1 hour after calling they do not even carry that flavor. The lady did offer me lunch for my trouble ( which I did not take) but that was not the point. I looks like Scheels or Sportmans warehouse from now one. read more

WOW! What a place! When you think of old fashioned customer service the first place that comes to mind probably isn't a sporting goods store. This one is top notch. They may be higher priced but if you are unhappy or something is wrong they go all out to make it right. Okay so I bought a shotgun here and had it shipped to Rocklin can bass pro shop. It was tedious to say the least because both systems where not set up for this. It took a couple calls to get this figured out but it was worth it. Gun desk was polite, the call center was polite, and the same was for bass pro shop. For a request that wasn't normal this was fixed quickly and respectfully. I will definitely continue shopping at both store chains as a happy customer. They didn't disappoint as customer I did my part in calling and as a retailer they delivered. read more
