So I've only been to two Cabela's in my life... the 1st one that is located right off the freeway(sr23?) in Dundee, Mi and this one. I'd thought forever that these would not all be the same but I was proven wrong the night we visited this one. It seems like they are all built with similar layouts. The clothes, the outdoor equipment, firearms, ammunition, archery nuts and candy, jams and now they appear to have smoker and bbq cooking equipment, wood chips, and rubs&bbq sauce. It's all kind of expensive to me but honestly, I'm not an outdoorsman but my wife was looking for a jacket as a gift. Always dun to walk in and see all the taxidermy work and especially the fish tank. read more

Things have changed for Cabelas a bit since they were bought out by Bass Pro. In my opinion it has been a bit of a downgrade. Cabelas had what I would consider higher end outdoors items such as jackets under their brand name. While they still have some things under their brand, now Bass Pro's lower end line Natural Reflections has moved in. I cant say its anywhere near the quality. It now makes it a bit more of a discountish store. I recently had ordered several items online for their after Christmas sale and had to return about half the order. The staff was super helpful and prompt about completing my return. They are always very knowledgeable about their products here. The store is always organized and clean. Join the rewards program (Free) as it is a great deal to earn points with every purchase. If youre not familiar with Cabelas, It's not just fishing and hunting by any means. They have a great selection of camping/backpacking goodies, outdoor clothing, and even dog stuff! If you are at all an outdoor person but not a hunter, this store is still for you! If you do hunt or fish, obviously it's paradise. There is a decent selection of products the company sells (from website) at this location, well laid out, and nice scenery. Their prices are competitive, especially with sales and promotions. My favorite part is the Bargain Cave - literally make a beeline for that anytime I'm at a Cabelas! Thank god they haven't done away with that during the transition. read more

No complaints really. Although, these places are all starting to blend into the same kind of thing. Do yourself a favor and shop for pricing. If you're in the store and you find something you like, check that price other places on your phone before you buy it. Sometimes the prices can be a little higher. But, that is subjective and it depends on what it is. I found that some ammunition is quite a lot cheaper here than other places. They have a fantastic selection of ammunition as well. When it comes to clothing and some of the other sporting equipment, that's where you want to make sure you do your price shopping. Would I go back? Yes. Everybody I've interacted with every location has always been helpful and pleasant to deal with. read more

Stopped in after work last week as online the store listed quite a bit of IN STOCK 12 ga. ammunition. Upon entering the store I was greeted by friendly staff and a nice large fire. Seemed great. I then made my way to the firearms area and was shocked to find nothing but barren shelves. Confused I inquired with some individuals working the firearm counter who simply looked at me as if I was asking for martian organs? One individual stated that nothing online on the company's website can be trusted in terms of stock status because it sells so fast. I CALL BS After leaving I immediately checked the store site again only to find all of the same ammunition still in stock. Better options exist for your business and hard earned dollars. This review is only for Santa. I am so disappointed in my daughters first Santa experience. I guess I should have done more research. The Santa looked very authentic but was unfriendly, didn't spent any time asking my daughter what she wanted for Christmas, actually didn't say a single word. We did get a free photo but frankly we were shuffled through like it was only for the picture rather than the experience. Also, don't bother making a reservation. It didn't matter. Generally this is a good store. However, on more than one occasion their parking lot seems to be over taken by what I call Fast & Furious wannabes. You know those immature males who's parents failed to provide them with enough attention. Now they are intent on making everyone listen to their engines, mufflers and radios. Went here for the first time ever. Smelled cinnamon when I first walked in - followed my nose to where they were roasting cinnamon pecans. I bought some - delicious! Bought a 2 person float for $23.99 - great deal! Haven't tried it out on the Little Miami yet but hope it's good & sturdy. My online order was a nightmare. My items were shipped out late, which wasn't a bid deal, but both shipments were sent to the billing address rather than the shipping address. I put the shipping address in my order, and when part of it was delivered to the wrong address I called Cabellas and talked to a person who stated that the other shipment would be delivered to the shipping address, but it was not. Now I'm out $35 for reshipment all items and the shipment will be super late. This is the second time this has happened in the last year. There is too much good competition out there to make these kinds of mistakes. You guys need improve your shipping terms and customer service. I will never make this mistake again. read more

I am basing this review off my first in-store experience with Cabela's West Chester. I needed to pick up a handgun I had purchased online. When I first walked in I was greeted by a nice man who was helpful in directing me to the pickup location. I got to my destination and a man by the name of Bob helped me. Right off the bat I could tell this guy wasn't very friendly but I thought maybe he was just having a bad day, which I totally understand having worked customer retail service for 10 years myself. But this guy made me feel real uncomfortable. It was like I was a bother to him for wanting my item. He had me fill out some forms on his laptop and he snapped at me because I wasn't using the touch screen. Next I had a question about the address and he got super upset because I told him I wasn't sure if I should put my new address or the one that is on my I.D. I'm a first time gun buyer so I didn't know and it was a simple question. Next he snapped at me because I didn't understand a question on the laptop and I answered it wrong. He said "READ THE QUESTION!". At this point I felt like I was a kid in trouble with a teacher. You should never make a customer feel that way. Finally we got thru everything and I stood there for a moment not knowing if we were finished because he didn't say anything, and finally he says... "You can go." No goodbye, thank you, see you later, nothing. I thanked him anyway and told him I hope he has a good day because I'm better than that. Truly unacceptable and I really think management needs to monitor their employees a little better. read more

In the handling of their TRQ 25 Reel pricing error - terrible handling on their part. They might as well have chased me down in the parking lot and taken my reel away there. Truly disappointed in the easy way that they are making customers pay the consequences for their mistake. Recieved a very friendly and helpful greeting at this store. Cabela's has quiet the impressive entrance with the gorgeous Christmas tree and majestic forest animals all around. I was instantly drawn to all the little gadgets and gifts even not being an outdoorsy person I could find something for everyone on my list. Clothing merchandising was well done not cluttered and well curated. I found many pieces on sale and quite reasonably priced. Only downside was the grumpy down trodden elves in the Winter Wonderland children's area. Walking around pouting trying to find something to police. This was a place I once loved. Im sad to report though, that they are slowly catering to the left wing gun control extremsit. After researching a firearm on line for the last month, I was prepared to make the $949 purchase. The determining factor was going to be the feel of the trigger pull, which I planned on sampling before purchase. After asking the clerk to see the firearm, I asked if he could remove the trigger lock to sample the trigger. I understand gun saftey and respect that. But how can you expect someone to purchase a $1000 firearm with out examining a gun. As an outdoor enthusiast, hunter, fisherman, and gun collector this new policy may end up costing this company several thousand dollars over my life time. I know im just one guy and they wont miss me, but it sucks to lose a store I once loved. read more

Everyone makes mistakes but those who own them and fix them are the businesses that will thrive and have customers. Kudos! Berlin, Massachusetts store complete chaos. Manager Jeff Zubak refuses to sell trailer talking to their own customer service rep! Imagine that, I couldn't if I didn't see it. His salesman Terry Downing tells me they have trailer in stock i go to store Terry is out but manager Jeff says no but we have bigger one. Then refuses to sell that one. Then next day I call talk to Terry he says I don't remember anything. Spend 4hrs driving and talking to them and ended up with nothing but frustration. I put a complaint woth their customer service, on Twitter and Facebook and got replies to email them. Guess what no response after emailing. Even tried contacting regional manager for east, still waiting for it. All I want is to buy a trailer for the price I was told. Apparently that's not possible. Take your money elsewhere. read more

To all my friends and family members who love hunting or buy weapons for home protection. Let me take this moment to vent out the horrible experience that I had at Cabela's out in Hoffman Estates. I get in line as they told me if I was there to pick up a firearm. So I get in line and knowing that they are busy it was going to take a while, so after waiting in line for approx 25 minutes and being the only customer in line at that time. No one had the curtsey to acknowledge my presence nor anyone else came up to me from the other part of the counter to help me or tell me that I would be attended soon. After the customer that was in front of me was done. The associate stared at me from head to toe and not saying anything walked away. So I waited again patiently for another 10 minutes until someone came up to me and said "what are you here for". I replied I'm here to pick up my weapon as I was told it was ready for pickup. He takes the audacity to ask me; "did you already pay for it? And has your background cleared". Again I replied by saying yes or why else would I be here. So he decides to ask for my ID's and walks in the back and doesn't come back for another 10 minutes. As I start looking at the other people who were there that came after were leaving allot faster than I was and they were treated with the utmost respect. I again patiently waited for them to bring my firearm. Once they brought it they didn't even give me the chance to reinspect the weapon as I was told "everything is there". Again I ignored the comment as I just wanted to leave. Still noticing that everyone else who came after me was leaving allot faster than me. Last I'm given the final paperwork to sign and fill out as I hand over the paperwork he sees something on my paperwork and crinkles it up and mumbled "need manger approval". Walks to the manager on duty in the department and asks if he can sign the paperwork. As he was inspecting another weapon; decides to stop and stair at me and makes the comment that threw me over the edge inside; "tell him that he's going to need to wait". The service person walked away and the later comes up to me and put my weapon in a bag and nonchalantly tossed it to me and says "there you go" and walks away. All this happened in front of my 12 year old son. I know this is a long comment but as those who know me. My patients and respect to others is big, especially in the service industry as I was once there. Cabela's please do not treat people different just by their appearance or by their ethnic group as you never know that you might have a repeat customer as I was planning on buying another weapon today from then but not anymore. read more

When I attempted to return it they lied and said it is a federal law that ammo cannot be returned. They lied. There is no law about that. Don't buy ammo from these crooks. read more

Jungle Jim's is to Foodies what Cabela's is for Outdoorsy People. Cabela's is overwhelming it's so large, and going here is a treat for the senses. They have interesting decor, a fish tank in the back, a snack bar (?), and basically anything you could ever ask for before going on an adventure. My husband and I were here shopping the Memorial Day sale for camping gear for a trip we have planned to Hocking Hills. We ended up leaving and spending way too much money, but we found exactly what we wanted, and a lot of it was on sale. Prices are a little high, but quality and selection are great. Check out was a little slow. read more

I frequent cabela's quite often, but have never had the experience like I had today. I made a trip up there to buy some ammo and magazines, but also brought my bow up. I had purchased a new rest a few months back and hadn't figured out how to install it myself. Lucky for me, Randy was working at the archery shop. Truly one of the nicest, most knowledgeable guys I've ever met in the outdoor industry. He not only installed my drop down rest, but made other adjustments to my bow and also gave me countless suggestions on how he could improve it. After he installed the rest, he had me out on the range to do paper tests. All in all I think I talked with him for at least an hour if not more about my bow, archery, life, etc. Such a pleasant surprise to meet someone like him, Cabela's is truly fortunate to have him on staff!! read more

I made my second trip to Cabela's new West Chester store last night. My first trip was shortly after the opening and I was impressed with the store then. I must say that in the short time they have been open they have really continued to improve on what was already a great store. The customer service greeted me at the door and since I am on crutches they immediately offered me an electric cart and held my crutches while I did my shopping. The level of customer service was incredible and of course the store is clean well stocked and competitively priced. What more can you ask for? read more

Ordered a tent 2 weeks ago, they gave a tracking number which showed it bypassed my town, went to Portland for 5 days, then to Troutdale next to Portland for 5 days, and the 4 days it took to get to those locations. Chatted with customer service Sierra B, who said I have to wait until July 2nd, before they can do anything, they would not let me cancel the order. I purchased a gun safe and when it was delivered it did not come with the LED light as advertised on their display model. When I called the store the sales person argued with me until I told him that I had taken a picture of it when I was there. He then told me that he was not knowledgeable with that product and I would need to contact the manufacture to get the part. I told him that it was their responsibility to provide me with the product I purchased. At that point I asked to speak to a manager which was completely worthless! Long story short, I looked at this product at 4 different companies and then drove back to Cabela's (my first stop) to make my purchase. Now knowing that Cabela's does not stand behind the products they sell and did a bait and switch on me I will not be making future large purchase from them again. Buyers beware!!!!!!!!!!! PS. There are times I enjoy going to the store to just walk around and look. There are also times I go to make a purchase. When I'm there looking around, I always get asked if there is anything I need help with. Keep in mind that the store, at times, can be very busy and it's unrealistic to think there is always going to be an extra employee to try and help you, that's just how it works in retail. When I have questions, I've always had an employee engage and act like they care about helping. They always answers all the questions I have and make sure I have all the information I'm looking for - this goes a long way with customers. I couldn't be happier to have Cabela's down the street, I plan on spending a lot of time and money with them! I've read some people complain about the prices, that's just how it is in this industry and you won't find better pricing at another big store. read more

I purchased a shotgun for sporting clays and it had a defect in the stock so I took it back and they sent it back to the manufacture. It has been 5 month now and I still don't have it back. I was informed they were sold out, only had a few of the items to start with, and probably would not get more. Asked for a rain check and they declined. Asked for similar dollar discount on more expensive item, they declined. Emailed customer service and had their legal right to limit quantities quoted to me. Poor business practice of baiting the consumer with a sale item when they had no realistic chance of getting the item. First off, I will say that I don't give reviews that are not well well-deserved. I have been a bass pro shops rewards club member and held their MasterCard for several years, and have always been loyal to that company for that reason. about three weeks ago, I decided to stop in at Cabela's and take my new bow in to have the draw weight checked. after checking and confirming the weight the bow was currently set at, the tech (Shawn) worked with me for over 45 minutes and help me tune the bow for the new arrows I was purchasing. There were people waiting, but that did not stop him from giving me the individualized but attention and service that is so uncommon these days in big-box retail stores, even those of the outdoor enthusiast variety. After I was finished working with him, I walked immediately to the customer service counter. I handed them my best pro shops MasterCard, and ask them if they could shred it for me. I then immediately applied for a Cabela's Club Visa. The young lady behind the counter asked why I was doing that, and I informed her that I could have the ability to spend my money anywhere, but I much prefer spending it at places who act like they are happy that I am there to spend my hard-earned money. It seems there are endless outdoor enthusiast stores popping up all around the area, and one would think that they would compete for your business. In my mind, the best way to obtain loyal customers is to treat them like you care about what it is they want to talk about, purchase, or even return. The Cincinnati Cabela's store is obviously headed in the right direction, and I can guarantee you that I will be a long time customer of the store. read more
