What an experience! I called ahead to remind the service staff that we were celebrating an anniversary and they did not disappoint. The ambiance was incredible. We have our monthly dinner five of us Dinner first. Cigars and Bourbon thereafter. Been doing that for at least the last 8-10month. There policy is if you smoke your own cigars there is a $10 charge, for the entire time we have been enjoying our time there they never in forced that policy UNTIL this past Monday night. The 18th. We all over sudden with out letting us know they but the $ 10 on the bill what's not an issue about the $10 BUT if the bartender was good enough to let us know we could have purchased a cigar and we all would have won. We questioned him his answer was his boss told him so. Not even going back to his Boss letting him know 4 out of five people where unhappy, Poor training or just don't care since business is very good ! Three stars because we were very disappointed this time mostly because it's supposed to be an experience in an "upscale steakhouse " Not anymore. There were customers in jeans, shorts, crocs, sandals , sneakers, and baseball caps. When we asked the manager about the dress code, which we adhered to ( dress and suit) she essentially stated that NOW most attire is permitted other than wifebeater t-shirts and caps, which obviously is not true as a person walked past in a dingy baseball cap as she was mentioning such. It truly lessened the experience, especially when we are paying over $175.00 to $200.00 for a meal and ambience. . We won't be returning. Very disappointed. The food was good and the service okay. This was my first time visiting the restaurant but the other 5 people in our party had all been here before. We were celebrating a very big birthday for someone and I had heard good things but my overall experience was ok but not great. - No bread plate on one of the place settings. - wait staff was slow to get drinks or get back to us for drinks. They didn't take empty glasses from the table when they brought new drinks. The waiter would ask one person if they needed drinks but not others who were clearly out. They should have checked on the whole table. - Caesar salad was good. - On the main entree's, 4 out of the 6 plates came out at one time without the rest of the parties plates coming out. Had to wait about 5 mins for the other two plates, which caused some items to not be as hot as they should have been. Time frame management appeared to be off in the kitchen. - Lobster scampi was good. - Petite Filet was cooked to correct temperature and tasty. - Prime NY Strip 10 oz was cooked perfectly but the overall taste was a little less than I was expecting for a prime NY Strip. - Creamed spinach was very good along with the Brussel sprouts. Asparagus with hollandaise was ok but the hollandaise was cold and hollandaise sauce should be warm when served--never cold. Bathrooms were clean. Pastries were good. Chocolate ganache was the least favorite but the cheesecake, homemade vanilla gelato with strawberries was very tasty. Carrot cake was great. Crème brûlée was probably my favorite. They did apologize about the service as they said that there was a big party that took a lot of their time. Even a manger came over and apologized. They took 25% off the bill for the Inconvenience. However, this shows that they were probably attentive to their every detail and forgetting about trying to take care of those smaller groups or tables that make up a majority of their business. Bartenders in the cigar/bar area of the restaurant were great, very attentive and quick with their drinks, which is more than I could say for the wait staff at our table. Another amazing dining experience! Came here for a business dinner with colleagues. The ambience was great. My only qualm is that there is an inclosed section off of the dining room that allows cigar smoking. I'm not a fan of cigars but it wasn't a deal breaker. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, oysters, and fried lobster tails as appetizers. I ordered the daily special which was the 14 oz Wagyu and it was cooked to perfection! A bunch of shareable sides like the creamed corn, broccolini, Brussels, and other items. Ended with a few desserts including the chocolate ganache cake. Service was top tier! Went to dinner with 3 friends. The miso glazed grouper was excellent but the lobster scampi was really chewy and didn't seem fresh. The wine selection (by the glass) was good. Parking: free valet parking First impression: I was not very impressed to say the least lol. As soon as you walk in, there is another door to a cigar smoking room. It's very faint (to some, not me) but you can smell it. And I know most people who come here would know that but I had no idea. It reminds me of being in a casino restaurant lol. But otherwise, the place has old school vibes and upscale ambiance. Food: Fresh Oysters 10/10. They're huge! Cabernet sampler: included 2 fried lobster tails, shrimp cocktail, & crab cake. Delicious! 22oz bone in ribeye medium rare. It was cooked to PERFECTION. I love that didn't try to get fancy and salt the heck out of it. I hate when my steak taste salty. Creamed corn: 6/10. I'm surprised by the reviews here presently averaging to a 3.8. Ive been here several times and the food and service is very good to excellent. "Not perfect" but again the 5 stars on YELP is for "great" and 4 stars is for "good", 3 "ok". IDK i feel people may be judging this place a bit harshly. Given the quality of the food and the attentive service, I think this place has very good value for an Atlanta area steakhouse. I also enjoy the ambiance. I do admit, some hiccups here and there with the food. One time my prime rib was more medium than medium rare, but this was addressed and I had a new proper medium rare steak in front of me within a few minutes. This place is very nice and very fancy. There is valet parking or you have to pay for parking if you don't do valet. Overall the food is pretty good. The filet was great but the ribeye was tough and dry. I wasn't a big fan of that. The twice baked potato was AMAZING. It was so good. The creamed spinach wasn't that great. I would personally skip that side. The crème brûlée and peanut butter chocolate cake was great! I would also like to shoutout Lemonte (not sure about spelling) but he was honestly the nicest waiter I have ever had. He was great and he represented this restaurant well. Celebrated our 22nd anniversary. Chose 2019 Faust for $95. The waiter brought us a 2022 bottle. It was questioned ... they said were out of 2019 and they brought an Animo 2019 Cabernet and said it's about equal to Faust 2019. Things were going well until their water boy dumped our bottle onto the floor after we were only poured 1 glass each. We told the waiter who told the manager and things seemed taken care of until we were charged for two $95 bottles...and it took forever to get it corrected on the bill. What the manager ended up doing was charge the bottle price from. $95 to $125 for their mess up. We waited a long time and decided we were done with the games. Paid the bill and left the Cabernet and our leftovers with them. Not worth the time and BS. We won't be back. Seems like a silly game they play when they screw up. read more

Excellent dinner at Cabernet this week! This was my first time dining at this restaurant in a few years, and it's still as good as I remember. Sitting inside you feel like you're in a great steakhouse and the meal lives up to it. Our party of 4 each ordered steak. I went with a 12 oz filet, medium rare, with brandy peppercorn sauce. Outstanding! The steak was cooked perfectly. Sides of creamed spinach, twice baked potatoes, and mashed potatoes, made for a memorable meal. We had to of course, order a nice bottle of Cabernet, and Brandlin from Napa Valley was perfect. If you're in Alpharetta and looking for a great dinner, I highly recommend Cabernet! read more

First of all, we were mistakenly an entire day early and the Manager, Jason was wonderful in accommodating us! The dining room has well spaced tables & soft lighting & as the room filled with patrons noise level remained muted. The sides are well portioned and delicious. The appetizers are plentiful and tasty. And let's not forget the desserts. The Bananas Foster is an event and truly enjoyable. The service here is off the charts. They are quite attentive and always make sure that our needs are met frequently. Also, they make great recommendations for their menu and wines. The ambiance can be loud at times and sometimes you may get a whiff of cigar smoke from the bar. It doesn't bother me that much, but I know others may not like it. Came to Cabernet for a team dinner after work. I was surprised to see everyone is required to valet. I don't think I've ever seen such a thing for a suburb restaurant. We were sat promptly in the service was fantastic. They strangely only brought one drink menu for six of us. We all had to share until they brought us another. The specials they offered were great and several of us took advantage. We successfully shared the tomahawk between three people. Not a single person was disappointed with their dish. They perfectly prepared one of the steaks to the temperature of blue, which is cooler than rare. I know the guest loved it. Important to note the acoustics are not great. It can make conversation difficult at the peak hours of the night. Neat feature: I was shocked to see it was a cigar bar with its own area for smoking. I don't think I've seen one of these in a long time. I can say I successfully did not smell any smoke while sitting there. This place was good but not great. We came for a late father's day and the server was wonderful. She was super attentive and friendly and patient with us and I really wanted to love the food but my entree was ok in my opinion My husband and I got the rock salt herb ribeye 27 oz to share and it was a huge portion but this steak was so sweet. Like, it tasted like they dipped it in sugar instead of salt. It had no saltiness at all, just sweet and I tasted nothing but the sweetness, no herb flavor really. My dad got the prime rib so we dipped the ribeye in his horseradish sauce just to hide the sweetness. The meat had a nice texture amidst huge pieces of fat in the middle. my dad's prime rib was medium but was more like medium well & dry for a prime rib cut. I did like the twice baked potato, it was very creamy & delicious My brother got the chicken and I kinda wanted that instead of the ribeye. It was juicy and tender and so flavorful. We also had an order of fried lobster which was ok.. sauce was also pretty sweet on this. Date night is definitely something I look forward to and more so I look forward to venturing out to new restaurants! After doing some digging and researching I decided that making a reservation here would be good! Well I was wrong. Upon arriving it gave me an old-school steakhouse feel with dark wooded interior. The greeter was very nice and showed us to our table and it seemed that they had tables spaced out for social distancing which was nice. To start off we ordered a margarita and a glass of Malbec. My Malbec arrived shortly but it took about 20 to 30 minutes for my husband's margarita to arrive and we had to ask the waiter twice to check on it. Luckily they put extra tequila in it to apologize for the wait...nice touch. Attached to the restaurant is a cigar bar but each time that the door was opened by staff going in and out from the dining room, the cigar smoke started to fill the dining room which was unpleasant for me as I was eating. They definitely should have another entrance to access that bar area! The food: She Crab soup was really good! (2 stars for that) Hubby finished his lobster scampi but said it was meh with the tiniest lobster tails we have ever seen. I had the 8oz filet and added the "Oscar". Well when It arrived I can say that I have never seen filet mignon Oscar style with a crab cake on top? Ummm...I know Oscar to be lump crab meat, asparagus, topped with béarnaise. NOT HERE! I guess they have their own definition. Wished that was clear prior to ordering. I ordered a second glass of Malbec to eat with my food and it never showed up! I didn't even bother asking again... We all want to go out and have a wonderful time during this pandemic but we want to feel safe at the same time! You will not find this here. Staff talking to patrons with masks hanging from one ear, masks on chin, or not wearing one at all is completely irresponsible and damn right scary! I looked over through the glass window where the bar was and there was a singer dancing with unmasked patrons and a unmasked bartender laughing and making drinks! TRULY UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! Overall a good experience. Food was good in quality. Steak could have been trimmed a bit more professionally. Ambience was high end with an easy valet experience. Service was slow and overall lacking-- possibly due to either staffing issues or personal issues with the waiter we were assigned. We really loved our evening at Cabernet and will certainly return! They were on point for so many reasons: 1. Beautiful dining room- we loved the really big booths for two where both of us could face out into the dining area. 2. Friendly service- Sarah our server and Danni our Asst server were both wonderful. Very friendly, never rushed us. We noticed the rest of the wait staff and manager mingling around the dining room visiting with customers. 3. Cocktails- great and reasonably priced. 4. Food- great and a nice variety on the menu. 5. Bar- A cigar bar with a musician on a Saturday night. Lots of energy. 6. Parking- Don't understand the need for valet only parking, but at least it is complimentary. read more
