    Raw naked oysters

I attended their Oyster Festival this past weekend. The grilled and fried oysters were delicious. However, they did not have horseradish for the oysters. Horseradish is a must for oysters. I hope they consider it for the next event. It is a great atmosphere. They have outdoor seating with activities. They also have live music if you like to sing or dance. The establishment is huge. It reminds me of a warehouse or Barndominium. I belive there is an upstairs providing a loft style vibe. The service is more food drop off, not a lot of interaction with the staff. They also have QR codes to provide self services. The drinks were great. They offer beer flights if you are into beer and they also have cocktails. Overall, it is a family friendly place. They have good food and you will be entertained

Went for brunch. Solid potato bowl with add on options and the aioli sauce was great. Granola yogurt was good too. Fast and casual. Plenty of seats inside and outside.

Brewery & coffee shop with a bunch of food options as well You can either order at the counter or through a QR code I came here with my fiance for breakfast. We each got a latte and we split a yogurt bowl and a BEC - everything was delicious! Food came out very quickly

Very cute interior. Probably great for cocktails and booze. Cute outdoor patio outside, which is kid and pet friendly. That said, I probably wouldn't come here again and call myself enjoying coffee. I met up with a couple of colleagues and ordered the Biscoff iced latte. It was absolutely terrible. I even had them remake it because the first time it was made, it tasted like nothing. They gladly remade it, and it was a bit sweeter and more flavorful the second time, but it definitely wasn't worth a nine dollar price tag. I also appreciated how kind the staff members were, but we waited more than 15 minutes for coffee when we placed an order through the QR code whereas people who walked in and purchased coffee got their coffee almost instantaneously. Overall, it's a cute little craft brewery vibe. Not great coffee, but there's ample seating and it's really close to Mosaic.

I have been to Caboose last year and had a good experience and this year I went back with friends for some after dinner drinks and snacks. Since it was a warm night we decided to sit outside, there was still plenty of space available on a Friday night. I do have to say that the tables were a little dirty. I got the Drunken Barista cocktail and really liked it, it wasn't too sweet which I liked. The menu has something for everyone and the food quality is pretty good for a brewery. I also like the fact that you can simply order from your seat with a QR code and they bring out the food shortly after. I love their bistro lights outside, it really makes for a cozy atmosphere! It also wasn't too loud despite it being pretty busy. They have ample parking on site but you can also park in any of the adjacent garages at Mosaic District.

Came here for some late night drinks. The brewery is very open with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, beers were tasty and we had a good experience. We had no issues with parking as well.

I've never been to a brewery that also serves cafe items before. I ended up hanging with friends here and it seems like a great place to hangout or have larger group meetings. I ended up getting their kid's meal hamburger with the additional cheese, lettuce and tomato and it was a decent size. I also really liked the crisp fries that went with it.

This is a very open and fun cafe/brewery that is great for hanging out at and even dog friendly in the outdoor area! Also great for brunch. Came here to do some remote work for a few hours and I liked the convenience of being able to scan a QR code at my table and order food either to stay and/or to go. So far I've tried their avocado toast and was pleasantly surprised by their gochujang mayo (as a Korean too)! I really liked how there was a good amount of flavor going on there, especially with the over easy egg because Koreans do mix fried eggs with gochujang flavors often. :) I also got the falafel wrap with chicken and also loved it! I'm a big fan of goat cheese too! 10/10

There was like no chicken in this wrap. I had probably 2 bites where I could taste the chicken. It was mainly lettuce. I would NOT recommend this wrap. Very disappointing.

    Cold Brew

My friends love coming to Caboose Commons to get work done. One of them is a big coffee snob, so he recommended that I tried their cold brew because it's his favorite in the area. I stopped by with them a couple days ago and was surprised that a tap room could be this cozy and warm. There's a lot of space on the second floor that's more like a cafe/study area. A lot of people here were getting work done while sipping on a beverage or munching on a side of fries. The ordering system is pretty easy -- scan the QR code on each table, place an order, and someone will bring it up when it's ready. Since my friend was adamant about the cold brew, I got the cold brew with light ice. The cold brew here is strong (like really, really strong) with a good chocolate flavor but also pretty tart/citrusy. I would not recommend light ice. Definitely get the regular ice and let the ice dilute a bit. Overall, pretty solid. I was shocked at the strength of the cold brew here. Good space to get work done. It's a bit far from me, but if I'm in the area, I know Caboose Commons is a reliable location. They get their beans from Lone Oak Coffee Company out in Winchester. I'll have to try their other coffee drinks and grab a bag of beans in the future. Oh, I'm sure their alcoholic drinks and food here would be pretty solid, too!

Happy hour Commons Nachos - Half

This is such a great spot for happy hour! There's such a huge selection of beers, and the one guy let me sample some pale ales before I ordered. He was so knowledgeable and patient. I was trying to find a beer that I had a while ago that tasted like black tea with a hint of sweetness! They also have seasonal drinks and the menu switches up. I also order their half nachos. It's so good and they do not skimp on their toppings. It's good and enough for one person!! It's a great time here :) Tip: there's additional parking on the left side closer to the light if you don't want to park at moms garage and walk over :)

I had lunch at 3pm and I didn't want a full adult meal, so I literally went onto the kids' menu and looked for the greatest quantity of protein, so I chose the chicken tenders with a side salad. The chicken tenders were everything I expected and more (they come with Heinz ketchup) -- crispy and flavorful. But the SIDE SALAD. It was perfection. I don't know what was in the dressing but it tasted almost yogurt-y and it was so refreshing and light. The latte was creamy and had a light natural sweetness even though I didn't get it with any sweetener. The interior is super spacious and very industrial feeling and would be the perfect place to get some work done. There is free WiFi and a parking lot in the back, and you order on a QR code and they deliver all of the food right to your table.

A friend recommended Caboose so we came to check it out. We ordered some food and drinks. We missed brunch by a few minutes, but no big deal. When we came in, the dining area was still decorated for Christmas in some areas. Seems fine as Christmas was just 2 days ago. We placed our orders through the QR code on the table. The food and drinks came out super quick. The fries and pickles were delicious - I didn't eat the pickles, but my daughter said they were delicious. The Buffalo chicken wrap was good and a bit hotter than I thought it would be. I thought there would be a side of ranch to dip it with, but I must have read the menu wrong when I chose ranch instead of blue cheese. No worries, I still ate it. My daughter got the chicken parm sandwich, but she said she didn't like it and it made her stomach upset. She said it wasn't flavorful and the sauce could have been more to bring out the flavor, but it was barely on there. Some may have eaten a quarter of the sandwich and most of the fries and pickles. Overall, we had a great time hanging out with friends and family. The atmosphere was great and we were able to catch a college bowl game.

Ask the Community - Caboose Commons

What day of the week is Trivia Noght?

Hi Sue! We do trivia every Tuesday night

Is smoking cigars permitted outdoors? Thanks!

Are the outdoor dining options still open? How long will they stay open? (I'm asking this in October 2021, during the pandemic, so outdoor seating availability is a big factor in my restaurant choices.) Thanks!

    CABOOSE COMMONS - FAIRFAX…

Is it okay to bring our dog?

If you're in the outside seating area, yes.

Do you have heaters on the patio?

We have fire pits available for reservation (www.caboosebrewing.com/fire-pits) but no heaters at this location!

I drove by and Caboose seems packed to the brim at night. Not much distancing, optional masks. I like this place and wish the owners the best, but they seem to be not doing the right thing here. Are they taking the pandemic seriously at all?

Hi Brian, Thanks for the feedback! I would like to reassure you that we are taking this pandemic very seriously. To give you an idea, these are some of the safety structures…

Can you bring your own non-alcoholic drinks?

We do not allow outside food and drink unless you bring in a dessert. We charge a $2 fee for outside dessert.

    Do they serve alcohol?

It's a beer and cider mostly place. But they do have great cocktails

Why did you stop doing refills on coffee? Was happy to pay an extra charge, but now that's not even an option?

Hi Aaron, Our products are from a local roaster and a high quality coffee bean. Because of this, our products are a bit more expensive. We can no longer offer refills due to…

Is it still packed to the gills on Saturday nights?

It sure is. Most of the day, in fact. It's difficult to find a seat on weekends.

    Is it kid friendly?

Totally! I love hanging out on the couch on the third floor with my kiddo. They even have events aimed at kids.

Does Caboose believe in happy hour?

We have happy hour at Caboose Commons Monday - Friday 3:30 - 6:00 PM!

    Do you have card/board games?

We do not as of right now, but possibly in the future! We do offer corn hole outside.

Has anyone died crossing the street yet?

Not yet. We are working with the owners of the road and the local authorities to make it safer.

The Korean noodle bowl and the Korean steak is awesome. We also had the avocado toast which was decent. The breakfast taco was delicious and can be made dairy free. It is absolutely delicious with all the flavors coming together. It has eggs with roasted onions and mushrooms and sweet potatoes. It has since left the menu. We wish they would bring it back. The pancake is very good and can be served with coconut milk,dairy-free whip cream in lieu of regular whipped cream if you need to have it dairy-free. We love the Moscow mule that is made by the manager, Michelle. Their Thai peanut noodle bowl was very good. You can add your own protein to the plate but it makes it a little pricey but healthy. The desserts are all really pretty good: vegan/dairy free cookies and cream, and the vegan squash pie is delicious. The flourless chocolate cake was also delicious, not too sweet. We like the new espresso Martini. They can also make you a dairy free affogato, which is a scoop of their dairy free coconut ice cream with a shot of espresso. If you like coffee, this is delicious. Their shot of espresso is bold and tasty. This place has great options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and health conscious people. They use fresh and healthy ingredients.

As soon as we entered, General Manager Sam welcomed us like old friends. After we were seated, my wife asked if he had previously worked at The Dabney, and sure enough, that's where we recognized him from. It was great catching up as he shared what he'd been doing since then and how his dream had always been to open his own restaurant. Seeing that dream come to life made the evening feel even more special. The restaurant was busy (definitely make reservations), but we were able to enjoy cocktails while we waited for our table. My Grey Goose martini with bleu cheese olives was phenomenal and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We started with the Bison Tartare and the Ceviche. The bison tartare was leaner than traditional beef tartare, and the crispy chips added the perfect savory crunch. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and bright. For our entrées, I had the ribeye while my wife ordered the Dory. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My wife couldn't stop talking about how buttery and delicious the fish was. To finish the evening, we ordered the 100-Year Port Flight featuring 10-, 20-, 30-, and 40-year ports. Vertical tastings are such a fun way to experience how a wine evolves over time. The 40-year was absolutely outstanding, and the 20-year was another favorite. The 10-year was enjoyable but still showed its youthful character compared to the older vintages. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and relaxed. The main dining room can feel a little tight when the restaurant is full, while the bar area has a few TVs for anyone wanting to catch a game. One thoughtful touch that stood out was the women's restroom being stocked with amenities like hair ties and hair clips. We noticed they also offer a tasting menu, and after this experience, that's already on our list for our next visit. Between the outstanding hospitality, exceptional food, excellent cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere, Evelyn Rose absolutely earned five stars.
