Food: Loved their beers, highly recommend the coffee flavored beer for our coffee lovers out there! Noticed how they have a lot of high alcohol content beers. Jalapeno chips were crispy jalapeno fritters which comes with special mustard dip and pimento dip. It was delicious with the beers! Would definitely have it next time. But skip the pretzel bites and fries, as they attested just okay. Nothing special about it. Love that they have GoTab. It makes it so easy to order food. For folks here who don't know, they have a mobile ordering system, you need to register on gotab.com and scan the Qr code on your table, it will show you the menu and you can order from your table without waiting for a server to attend you! Such an amazing concept to reduce human interaction. But this is NOT a Happy Hour place! One it ends at 6 PM, and you would never know it's going on unless you find that one chalkboard which says $1 off on beers, no food specials. Caboose Commons is a great place. There is free parking beside the restaurant. It can be difficult to find a spot, depending on the time you come. I love the ambiance of this place, it's super laid back. There are 3 floors, you seat yourself. After you place your order with the cashier, you are given a number card to place on your table. They also have a QR code ordering system at the tables, which is great if you are using Apple Pay. Cashiers are all friendly, helpful, and patient. There is no waiter service here. Restrooms were clean enough. They have a baby changing station in both men and women's restrooms. I love it when restaurants do that! We tried the Hillbilly Philly and Farmhouse Burger. Both were delicious. Quality ingredients are used and you can taste the difference. The Hillbilly Philly is made with a house made hoagie, house made pimento cheese, brisket bbq, and fog ipa bbq. The Farmhouse Burger is made with seven hills beef, blue cheese, garlic mayo, tomato, baby lettuce, applewood bacon, house made sesame seed bun. It's also served with fries. The donuts we tried were also good. They weren't too sweet and quite light. We really enjoyed our meal. The only thing that was a bit off was the piece of string we found in our Mexicane Cola. So cool! Not only does this awesome craft brewery have great beer, it streamlines their service so you can order at your table or an ordering counter. Very unique, modern, and versatile! LOVE IT! This is a great spot to bring a diverse group of friends. They have house made coffee, beer, food, stuff for kiddos to do (including a massive concrete patio sidewalk chalk was being used on) and so many cool events. Don't forget your growler at home (or buy one there) to take some great beer with you. They have a range from stouts to pilsners to dunkel to ipa's - something for everyone. Overall I enjoyed Caboose! It's cute, and they have tasty food and drinks! They do seem to hold private events in the upstairs as well. This place has some very good acoustics so the giant jenga and (spontaneous?) karaoke made it a bit difficult to have a conversation, but I'm not sure if they typically have that going on. Definitely a place to check out if you're in mosaic or fairfax area. Ambience/service: Hanging lights, dim lighting, in an industrial feeling open space. Their ladies room is also very cutely decorated! My friend and I went on a Saturday night and it was very tough finding an open table, but doable. Service was good, but it was rather confusing where lines go to order and where lines are to pick up food. There are servers who walk around so it was hard to tell if they take your food order or if you go to the register. You first go to the register, they give you a number if you get food, then you go to the bar area and they call your name to pick up your drinks. Key Lyme Gose: it was good, the perfect amount of sour. But not too tart or overwhelming. Mac and cheese: SO good! They use an amazing blend of different cheeses that is tasty and balanced. They top it with breadcrumbs. The noodles are perfectly cooked also. Commons Nachos: These are definitely shareable between 2-4 people! The three story building is lovely on the inside, artsy open and welcoming. There's plenty of seating inside as well as outside. Once you decide what you want, you walk up go the bar and order what you want. In addition to beer, of course, they have coffee and food!!!!! I was here for an event and while I did not have a beer, the Ethiopian coffee I did have was freaking fantastic! The menu was preset consisting of wings (nice and crispy), Mac and cheese ( not grandma's - don't count it out, it's still tasty) and last but definitely not least, the best dang brussel sprouts I've had to date! This place was suggested by my gf as a place to meet up for breakfast. I really enjoyed how polite and professional the employees were. They helped explain the process of how to make certain drinks and brought us a high chair for my gf's baby girl! I enjoyed the uniqueness of the mango matcha latte with vanilla. It wasn't bitter and it wasn't overly sweet. It tasted light, healthy with a touch a sweet from the vanilla and mango got stronger towards the end. The caffeine woke me up! I think the food is priced too high. I was skeptical of the avocado toast. Breakfast sandwiches were going from 6-8 dollars! so when I saw the avocado toast for 7, comparatively it sounds like a good deal. I really enjoyed their unique twist on one of my favorite breakfasts. I appreciated that they left the avocado to be the main component of taste for the dish. They complimented it with Nori, alfalfa springs, spicy cream sauce (almost like yumyum) and a scrambled egg (+$1). I was not disappointed, and I was satisfied after eating it! When this place opened up shortly after I moved to this area, I immediately knew I had to check it out. This place is one of those establishments that scream "COME CHECK US OUT!". From the patio lights and tables, to the lifesize chess board outside, to the renovations made to an existing older warehouse... this place is nice. The vibe is chill and cool, for sure. This will be a nice place to bring your kids on a weekend afternoon to mingle and socialize. The place serves beers, wine, cocktails, etc, but it never turns into a party spot unless it's someones birthday. Don't expect loud music on a weekend, this isn't a club scene. Imagine college commons but less homework and more socializing. You can go to a starbucks and get some work done, or you could come here to do the same thing and grab a beer and burger before you go. The open and airy space lets you feel relaxed and focused at the same time. Oh... did I mention they have great coffee? The only cons about this place is that there aren't any televisions, so this isn't the place to catch a sporting event. There also isn't much parking during busy times. If you can't catch a spot here, you'll have to walk over to from the Mosaic District. I'm not rating the food in this place... this is just a rating on the coffee and the atmosphere... I'm sure the beer is great... that's what it is... a brewery... with coffee and food! But for a place that does so many uncommonly paired specialties they do them pretty well. Their roaster, Lone Oak Coffee, has a variety of single origin offerings. My personal favorite is the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. It's going to be great hot or iced. It's nutty, complex and has mild acidity... the kind that makes it a bit sweet! The atmosphere is the best part! There are 3 levels of seating areas offered... it gets more intimate and comfy as you go up. The staff is friendly and there is a beautiful outdoor seating area as well as a giant chess board/corn hole game area! The only "difficult" part in our trip was trying to find a parking space. It is a small parking space for the size of the place. Some of the surrounding parking space is prohibited and so it's a bit of an inconvenience. The Farmhouse Burger was juicy, filling, and delicious. I wouldn't say it's my favorite burger, but it's a great choice when hanging out at Caboose and craving a burger and beer. My favorite beers are definitely the Vienna Lager and the Earl of Hops. The Earl of Hops has a hint of earl grey tea, which is where it gets its name. If you like earl grey tea, and beer, this is definitely a must-try! The staff is friendly and always greets you with a smile! I have been to Caboose Commons twice now, parking is a hit or miss depending on when you go and the time of day. Luckily there is parking available across the street. Caboose Commons is a great spot to come and hangout with friends, the outdoor seating area is even dog friendly! There are QR codes at each table so you can order your drinks on your phone and staff will bring them to your table as soon as they are ready. If you aren't tech savvy, no worries, you can go inside and order at the counter as well :) The menu inside has more drink (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and food options btw! My friends and I came here just to hang out. There is an outdoor area and the inside has three floors. The outside is pretty nice with a lot of tables and pretty lights in the summer. They are able to give you samplers of the beers and wine so that was really great to be able to try everything before you buy. The only thing I didn't like was that the tea cake sugarless and I didn't realize I would have to pay for sugar separately. Prior to the year that is 2020, my hubby and I would frequent Caboose for their fried pickles, bowls, cafe drinks, and beer. Nowadays, we come primarily for the delicious breakfast burrito on the weekends (which we have tried to recreate at home but just don't have the same burrito wrapping skills as the Caboose team). Caboose has taken great precautions to ensure a fun but safe time on their property. Since COVID, we've either ordered takeout or socially distanced on their patio. Fun fact, dogs are welcome on their patio all year round. They are a cashless establishment, which makes ordering a breeze. I admit I have some mixed feelings about some of their cafe drinks (cough chai tea latte and Mexican mocha cough). But I know I can come for the food and expect scrumptious breakfast burritos and fried pickles time and time again. Plus, the staff is always so friendly and accommodating. Parking can be a smidge tricky, particularly since they took away half of the lot in order to expand outdoor seating. read more

A first time visit with a friend of mine on a Friday night at around 5:30 PM. Packed!!! The day we went was also so frickin' HOT!!! In the high 90's, so even inside was hot as heck! We were both sweating like crazy. Dunno what happened to the A/C. Guess they forgot to turn it on? Not sure... Anyways, we ordered a couple of draft beers, 2 Iced Americanos to start with. Then after we sat down upstairs, used the mobile QR ordering system to get some food. We got Fried Pickle Chips and some Nachos. Both were alright, not that tasty for the most part. The Beer was kind of warm and not as cold as it should have been, too. There were a lot of people inside and even outside, so it was quite a happening place. However, probably won't be a regular joint to go to, especially if you're hungry. Hipsters' favorite! I always wondered what this place would turn out to be whenever I go to Mosaic, and I like the change! I loved their outdoor seating. I liked how indoor has a high ceiling with wide open space. The place itself is very artsy. AND they sell beer and coffee together! It's perfect for accommodate a group. I want to try their dishes but I visited in the late evening so maybe next time! They have 2 floors and half loft so It's very interesting interior structure. Such a chill place! I sat on the patio with friends for a bit, but even with the shading it was way too hot. We eventually ended up going inside and finding seats on the second floor. I loved that they have QR codes on all the tables, so you could order refills from where you sit! The only annoying thing is that if you order multiple items, there's no way to keep your tab open -- you'll get multiple bills. The service for these orders though is freaky fast! Every time we though it was someone else's order, it came out so fast. I don't drink 99% of beer (I know) and there was no goses on tap, so I opted for both the ciders. Yum! We came for an early breakfast on their official opening day. Parking was easy and there's an electric charging station if you need it. There's also extended parking on the other side of the building. Since we brought our dog, we opted to eat and drink out on their patio. The wife and I took turns placing orders. The table online ordering system wasn't working yet. Although it was 7:00am, they did provide us with a few cider and beer tastings. Breakfast was really food. The fresh eggs were a nice change from the dredge that I usually get from the famous "Micky D's". Coffee and tea were brewed fresh. I saw lots of tempting bakery items but passed on them. People were coming from all over. Breakfast here seems to be popular. Management came out to check on us a few times. I imagine that happy hour and weekend evenings can be quite popular. If a brewery wants to offer coffee and breakfast services, they need to actually dedicate staff to support the coffee and breakfast services. Stopped by one morning for a coffee to go, and it took over 15 minutes for a single employee to prepare it. Meanwhile, you can hear laugher and commotion in the inner rooms for employees behind the bar, but nobody was coming out to help the solo staff member. The beer is great, but this place is abysmal for breakfasts. Invest in your staff, Caboose, and ensure the customer gets a good experience. PS- they had a trapped bird in the building but no employee was making the slightest effort to help it. read more

The warehouse-type brewery is unique. I found out about Caboose Commons through a Yelp Event and I enjoyed their setup. I fondly remember Caboose Commons as the place where I would go for Sound Check Music Trivia. It is a fun game combining bingo and music trivia. I even won a few times! I never tried any of their beers, but I have heard many good things about it. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You can order on your phone and leave the tab open. It's so rare to find a place that does coffee and food well. They also brew their own beer to boot! COFFEE: I largely come here for the coffee and pretty much always order an iced oat milk latte. I'm somewhat picky about how my espresso is pulled and am nearly always happy with the lattes here. They are well balanced without being too acidic or bitter. They occasionally skew on the bitter side, but I would rather that than acidic. My one complaint is that the +$1.50 for oat milk does seem comparably steep compared to other local coffee shops. I used to come in 3-4 days a week (that's how much I love it), but eventually found ~$7 price tag ($5 iced latte, +$1.50 oat milk, +tip, (always tip folks)) for a drink to be a bit too much for me. They have some unique offerings in terms of syrups that I would be even more tempted to try if their iced oat milk latte by itself wasn't already wonderful. If you're coming in on the weekends, I would be prepared to be patient as they only have 1 espresso machine! FOOD: I don't even know where to begin. As a millennial/Gen Z/whatever, I ordered their Avocado Toast and I love it. But let me tell you that this love transcends generations as my not-yet-60-but-almost-there parents love it too. Caboose really put a lot of thought into an item that people would've bought anyway and boy is it good. The $11 price tag + $1 fried egg (try it once and its hard to go back) is hard to swallow as a breakfast item if you order it regularly, but what a treat! I've also ordered the Caboose Hash and the favors are yummyyy. That being said, I PERSONALLY find it a bit greasy for a morning meal and can never finish it. I've ordered the TBLT as well and find it to be a solid choice that doesn't necessarily wow in comparison to how unique some of their other dishes are, but still yum nonetheless. BEER: I can't speak much on the beer, as I'm not much a beer lover. Even so, I can find a few that are light and refreshing that I enjoy (lookin' at you, Wasser Pilsner). SEASONAL: They had a delectable Vietnamese Iced Coffee for a time, but I don't see it on the menu anymore. Along those lines, I really do love how Caboose is very in touch with the seasons and comes out with new items that celebrate the seasons. AMBIANCE (or whatever you call...the vibe of the store): It's a cute warehouse style and very open. I have studied there during COVID and found that ordering with a QR code at the table, having drinks delivered by employees with masks on, not having a lot of people (weekday mornings), and the open warehouse doors/windows makes me feel pretty safe. I like that they're doggo friendly and keep the place overall fun and relaxed. I would say that the weekends are when they are busiest (makes sense) and I prefer to just pick up on these days. PARKING: Caboose made a pretty quick transition to outdoor seating and set up an outdoor dining section in one of their parking lots. Brilliant idea, but makes it touch to park. Food here us consistently fresh, healthy and so good! Flavors are farm to table fresh. All recipes so far are healthy, not over spiced or sauced. One of the few breweries in the area with a nice and relaxing vibe/ambiance to range from HH socials to doing work on your laptop. They have plenty of beers on tap ranging from lagers to IPAs to stouts. Occasionally with beer pint and pitcher deals but prices are standard and reasonable for breweries. Food is pretty good but slightly overpriced for the amount you get and hit or miss quality. Plenty of seating outside during the warmer months with nice lighting. 3 floors of seating inside as well.
