I went to Caboose Commons as part of a work happy hour event on a Thursday evening. We coordinated with the staff a few days ahead of time so they knew when a group of 20 was expected to arrive. We had our tables ready right at our agreed upon arrival time and the group had a great experience! This is was my first time at the venue and I was really impressed. The property seems to have been a warehouse in its previous life, but is now restored to be a two story brewery with large patio area. There are very high ceilings, lots of hightop tables, a small merch store, and plenty of outdoor seating. The ordering system made it really easy for our party; we had a designated QR code that the whole group used to order food and drink. The orders all went to one tab that we were able to close out at the end of the night. Servers brought out food and drink quickly and with a smile; unfortunately, some servers had difficulty tracking down exactly who ordered what but for a group of 20, you can imagine how tough it is to find the owner of a beer. They have HH until 6pm on Thursdays and we took full advantage of this by order lots of beers, ciders, wines and cocktails at the beginning of the evening. I heard nothing but good things about the quality of everyones drinks; I had both the bitter cider and a citrusy IPA and both were really delicious. We all enjoyed the food too; I tried the wings, chicken nachos, and chicken tenders. Everything came out hot and delicious. Because we were seated inside I didn't get a chance to enjoy the outdoor patio, but the vibes looked more than ideal out there. Lots of picnic tables larger enough to fit 6 people, umbrellas, lounge chairs, and fire pits. They're really set up to host lots of guests. And yes, the outdoor are is dog friendly - bring the pups! If you're looking for a spot to meet up with friends, family, or coworkers for some social time and quality drinks then you need to check this place out. I went for a weekend catch-up at the Caboose Commons. It was a little crowded because it was weekend but there are spaces outside and inside where guests can wait while waiting for the next available table. The menu is focused on light meals and shareable snacks - some are vegetarian-friendly. You can order from your phone and everything will be brought to your table. Even though the place was crowded, our orders (Fries, Nachos, and a few flights of beer) came out quickly. The serving sizes of the Fries and Nachos were quite generous. I also ordered some growlers to go and it arrived in our table in no time as well. Overall, the service is fantastic and while the food selection is limited, the quality of the beers make up for it. What a cute, fun spot by Mosaic District! I went for some refreshing drinks and food post-hike with friends. There were tons of outdoor seating available. With our party of 5 + dog, we had no more than a 10 minute long wait on a holiday. The service is awesome. You use the QR code at the table to order and pay online, and the food and drinks came out no less than 10 minutes later! Super fast! I had the ahi tuna poke which was really great and refreshing. The burger and fries is hearty and lives up to expectations. (I love their shoestring fries!!! amazing taste!) Also got an order of the mac and cheese which was delectable; I highly recommend. Our party got an array of different drinks - all of them tasted delicious. The flight was a great price of $11. The cocktails, which range from $11-13 are really strong and were decently priced. The Dragoon Punch was mild, tasted almost like tea! The guavarita was pretty strong but really delicious and was so nice to have on a hot day. A beautiful brewery with outdoor seating. The only tricky part was the parking--even in a Sunday afternoon. I had to park at the garage across the street. There are tables out side and QR codes and they bring the food to you. I got the avocado toast which has creamy gochujang, avocado, nori, micro greens, sesame seeds, sea salt, country bread. This by far has been the best avocado toast I have every tried in my life 10/10. I wished I was not so hungry so I could have take a photo ...but I'm not terribly worried because I will definitely return! I also got a side of Crispy Brussels Sprouts: flash fried Brussels sprouts tossed in a sweet chili sauce. Super delish when freshly made. I am all for fair wages and know the pandemic has had an effect on many things but i find it strange they are charge a go tab fee (and you can't order inside?) and 15% gratuity for just brining out your order, yet they still expect ANOTHER TIP on top of all that. Come on now. And what is up with charging an EXTRA 75 cents for a basic sweetener like sugar or honey in my tea?! I have never heard of such a thing. Feels like they are just trying to nickel and dime anywhere they can. Also some of their servers are not very friendly or well trained in providing decent customer service. My friend accidentally ordered the wrong bacon for her sandwich and actually payed $2 extra for it. When she told the waiter, instead of just bringing back two pieces of regular bacon, she first seemed perplexed at what to (you go back and just bring back the bacon) and then went back to check before returning to say no. It's just good customer service to just give the customer what she wanted, especially if your system inside is down. read more

The space is beautiful and big enough that I felt like we were safely spaced apart from other people who seemed to be there for the same thing. I got there early and sat downstairs and got a mocha and it was so comforting and yummy. Once my friend got there, we moved upstairs and ordered some lunch. They make it really easy with QR codes on the table so we could order at our own page. We finally ventured out to our first non-take out experience in a month and Caboose aced the experience. I had a ton of trepidation given how some other places don't seem to have a safe set up at all, but Caboose Commons has it down pat. The set up is ingenious. They have shaded tables easily set six feet apart. Each table comes with a QR code where you can order food and drink online. The app was unwieldy, but it resulted in minimized contact and no errors in the order were made (and it resulted in much quicker and easier check out). They also have "to go windows" open and the mask rule seemed enforced there. Otherwise, everything was good. We got mixed drinks and lots of beers. The beers were delicious and the Pimm's Punch really helped cool down the hot summer day. My wife ordered a brisket sandwich and it was incredible. The cheese burst with flavor and the brisket was juicy and flavorful if just a tad too thin-cut. We ordered coffee drinks to go and my biggest complaint is my mocha coulda been more chocolatey (that's a word!). That's just a small quibble in an otherwise excellent experience. read more

My favorite is the Buddha Bowl because it'll definitely bring you all the fresh flavors to make you feel healthy, whether it's after a workout or after a couple beers. I would say that the feta can be a little overwhelming so I would probably put it on the side before mixing the entire thing. Another gem is the breakfast burrito. It goes excellently with the sweet Thai chili sauce to give it an extra kick of flavor. It seems the menu is different between the Vienna and Fairfax locations so I'd definitely check out the menus before heading out. read more

It has a lot of open space and I saw that there's seems to be 3 floors of seating (although the 3rd was blocked when I went) and outdoor seating too. We easily got parking but my friend who has come a few times mentioned that usually it is hard to get and that she would park at mosaic and walk over in that case. This is the easiest place to split your bill as every table has a QR code also with your table number so everyone can buy or open a tab for themselves and drinks get served to you really quickly. My friend had the fog hazy ipa which is a fruitier beer but still with a lot of that wheat flavor. I got tangerine gose which I personally liked much better since it barely had that wheat flavor most bears have. Meh at best. $100+ for a family of four to have 2 burgers, 2 beers and 2 kids meals. This is in part because they add a smug and sketchy 15% "fair wage" tax to everyone's bill. You want to pay your employees a "fair wage"--price the effing menu so they can be paid a fair wage. Don't tack on an automatic tax on top of the menu prices. And if the service is any indicator I doubt Caboose employees are paid any better than employees at other restaurants in Mosaic. Other than the guy that dropped off the drinks and entrees we didn't interact with anyone during the entire meal (ordering is by phone with QR code). Our table was sticky with spilled beer and I couldn't find anyone to clean it so I just grabbed some napkins and did it myself. And ordered a pitcher of water for the table that never showed up. And the food was very uninspiring. Wife got chicken sandwich with "kimchi slaw" that seemed like unfermented purple cabbage boiled soft and doused in Korean bbq sauce. No tanks! I recommend a flight to test the various selections then hone in on one or two beers. I was personally a fan of the Session IPA and the Mexican Cerveza. Also the Orange Jalapeño Mule was fantastic. The super high ceiling is a really nice touch and Caboose really uses to its advantage given its derivation from an abandoned warehouse. It was cold when I visited, but the dog-friendly patio (empty at the time) with the small, controlled fire pit is also a fantastic touch that I'm sure is used more during the warmer seasons. - Service was great, and ordering food/drinks was unique! My visit to Caboose was my first time ordering at a place where i could order from my seat on my mobile device without having to wait in a line to order in-person, but that is an alternative as well if that's preferred. I understand the transition period many establishments will have, considering the new COVID related requirements, but this place needs to get things in order if they're going to be open to the busy public. The whole process of being seated is unorganized, with no staff members available to help. Instead you wait till someone leaves then try to "grab"a table. Once seated you order from a scan code (which is totally fine) however there's no indication how long this process will take to even receive your drink/appetizer/meal. The food itself was totally fine. Not bad, but nothing special. It was prepared well and about as standard as it comes. The beer I had was quite fantastic but I have a hard time praising these guys when the service was so poor. One of the servers even mentioned out loud that they were "short-staffed". We came here at 4 PM on a Friday thinking that we would beat the crowd. How wrong we were, there was no parking and we had to park across the street at the Mosaic District. We found the last available outdoor table. I guess this is a popular location for happy hours. We came with our toddlers because we thought sitting outside would allow the kids to run around. To our surprise the kids were able to sit still for our entire drink while they did a puzzle so that is a real parenting win! I was surprised by the large drink selection. I am not a big beer drinker but they had a decent number of cocktail options. They also had a number of sweet ciders including a raspberry cider which I ordered. It was delicious at first but got a little sweet at the end. Even though the glass was not huge, I had a slight buzz by the end so I'm guessing the alcohol content is on the higher end. Overall, I had a great time. My only knock is that I wish they had more shaded seating outdoors. A lot of places now have QR codes on the table that you can order from but this was definitely one of the smoothest execution of ordering food/drink on your phone and having it promptly arrive tableside. We ordered a few IPAs, the frickles and poke bowl. Both food items were okay but the poke bowl wouldn't be something I would order again because it had way too much sesame oil in it. This attempt at being "efficient" failed because she messed up the orders; she put in an order for nacho fries even though I clearly said nachos and she forgot to add vanilla when I said "iced vanilla latte". The mexican mocha coffee was odd according to my friend, she felt that the cayenne was really spicy. I've visited this place a few times before, there are definitely hit or miss items on the menu. They have their own micro-brewery, and their brews are very good. I would totally give them 5 stars, if it weren't for... Ok; this one thing really grinds my gears; and it doesn't apply to everyone. Upper management doesn't seem to care/do anything about are the two electric vehicle parking spots (the Floor Managers find it annoying, but they can't do anything about it). They (or whoever owns the parking spot) paid tens of thousands of dollars to install those two charging stations, however, they just let anyone park in them. It's so annoying! Why have them if you aren't going to make them available to those it was made for? Sounds like a terrible business decision. All other EV spots at Mosaic are enforced; if you aren't charging, you get towed or ticketed. read more

Food: Loved their beers, highly recommend the coffee flavored beer for our coffee lovers out there! Noticed how they have a lot of high alcohol content beers. Jalapeno chips were crispy jalapeno fritters which comes with special mustard dip and pimento dip. It was delicious with the beers! Would definitely have it next time. But skip the pretzel bites and fries, as they attested just okay. Nothing special about it. Love that they have GoTab. It makes it so easy to order food. For folks here who don't know, they have a mobile ordering system, you need to register on gotab.com and scan the Qr code on your table, it will show you the menu and you can order from your table without waiting for a server to attend you! Such an amazing concept to reduce human interaction. But this is NOT a Happy Hour place! One it ends at 6 PM, and you would never know it's going on unless you find that one chalkboard which says $1 off on beers, no food specials.
