Friendly and fast service! Food was great and it's a lot of food for the price. I'm not a meatloaf person and this was so good! I will be back!

New soul food lunch was great. Loved the fried chicken and Mac-n-cheese. Red velvet cake was delicious. Well done.

I'm with Mike's previous review. Normal hotel bar/restaurant. My first visit I just came in to look around. Sat at the bar and was pleased to see they have six local beers on tap. Breweries right down the road actually! Nice to travel for work and taste something local when you can. Bartender was extremely pleasant and we had some good conversation before more people came in to eat. He continued to check up on me and take table orders. Expedite food and check with the kitchen. I give him a five star and the bar experience a four star. Second visit just had breakfast. It's seat yourself and my food came quickly. Also knew what I wanted and told my server immediately after sitting down. Been to other Holiday Inns with a larger breakfast menu. Picked a healthier veggie option but don't think it was worth the $9 tag. Still if you are on vacation and with children this is a solid easy option. Chinese nearby and Pizza Hut walkable. Otherwise drive. Staff is nice enough. Just never felt they wowed apart from my first visit.

Newly renovated bar in the restaurant.

So we have eaten here for the past two days. Considering this is a hotel restaurant, the food is surprisingly good! We had the jambalaya pasta and Reuben sandwich. Both were seasoned and cooked well. The devil cheese fries are excellent! The jambalaya had large shrimp and good seasoning. A good place to eat!

I got food poisoning from the steak nachos, I wouldn't suggest eating here. I had eaten breakfast here a few days ago without issue.

This was a lovely experience, and I'll start with the two reasons this place doesn't get a 5-star…read morereview. When I made the reservation for 3 I specifically asked that we "not be seated next to a kitchen or bathroom," and we were seated right next to both. There was an endless stream of people/bodies throughout the entire meal, and it was disappointing to make a simple request that could not be filled. Secondly, I ordered the Chilean sea bass and was underwhelmed by the dish. The fish felt slightly overcooked, so I only ate a bite and focused on my sides. Those two things aside, this was actually a nice experience. Our server, Haita (an attractive young man from Morocco with piercing blue eyes and a delightful accent) made up for the seating disappointment with excellent service. He was attentive, brought and presented food in a timely manner, and was knowledgeable about the menu. Speaking of the menu...we'd gone here specifically for lamb chops because someone in my party had been craving them. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and lamb chops were not on the curated, Valentine's menu (we dined on the 15th). We considered leaving to find lamb chops elsewhere, but we ultimately stayed and the person in my party ordered a ribeye instead. GREAT choice. It was a beautiful cut of meat, cooked to medium-well perfection, and perfectly spiced. There's always a chance that when a place doesn't put salt/pepper on the table that they've wildly overestimated their abilities to cater to the general palate. Not so here. It was a treat to discover that everything that came to the table was perfectly spiced. The ribeye had a perfect char on it, the juices were succulent, and the meat was fantastically tender. According to one of my guests, it was "divine." She also used the same word to describe the shrimp and lobster bisque, but I disagreed. In all honesty, the best thing about this dish was the presentation (I made a little video, so you'll see what I mean!). This just felt like a regular lobster bisque with a piece of shrimp tossed in (on a crostini) to "fancy it up." I wasn't too impressed, but the other at the table seemed to enjoy it. The decor is lovely: old-world steakhouse vibes with dark wood paneling, bold artwork on the walls that speaks to the state's leisure culture, and a beautiful bar area. The decor alone can rival that of any steakhouse in a major metropolitan city on the East or West coast. From the truncated menu we ordered the ribeye, the Chilean sea bass (with green beans), mashed potatoes, asparagus, and copious drinks. Make sure you order your asparagus grilled, you won't be disappointed. Perfect seasoning and perfect texture, truly. The lemon drop cocktail is a winner for anyone who likes a sweet beverage. I've never known Maker's Mark to disappoint, and you can't mess up a Gin & Tonic. But throw in some fancy beveled glasses, and heavy encrusted tumblers, and you've got yourself a drinking experience. I love visiting the bathrooms in places like this to see if the overall aesthetic tracks to all of the guest spaces, and unfortunately here it did not. It's just an okay bathroom that feels like a bit of an afterthought, but I get it. It's a bathroom. I just couldn't help but expect someone close to grand (grand-ish) given what the front of the house looked like. One thing I did see which I cannot end my review without mentioning is the attention to detail the servers placed on the small things. It did not take more than 2 minutes for a dirty table to be cleaned and completely re-set. The bussers move quickly! The waitstaff moves with purpose and incorporates the tiny details into their regular routine. Thanks to the unglamorous seating nearly the kitchen/bathroom I had a chance to see how the waitstaff handled plates/cutlery/etc. The wine glass cabinet was to our right, and I was impressed to see EACH AND EVERY SERVER who pulled a glass take the time to hold the glass up to the light to check for smudges before using them with the guest. Glasses that weren't clean weren't just wiped and used, they were put away with the dirty dishes and staff pulled another glass. It was impressive to see this was clearly a part of their training to which the waitstaff adhered. Finally. There's serious sticker shock with this place, but that's going to happen if you go to a decent steakhouse. This was better than decent, my friends. If I had it all to do over again, I'd get a steak from a steakhouse and stop trying to chase the Nobu-inspired Chilean sea bass high I got hooked on a few years back in Vegas. I was in a kingdom of red meat and got the fish. Girl, bye.

We ordered a couple of appetizers and drinks. The drinks were good, the appetizers were good enough. We had the Surf and Turf Queso and Fried Green Tomatoes (very tasty). We decided to end the visit, pay the check and have dinner at another restaurant. I applaud the server for seemingly going to make the hostess/host aware (we saw him talking to them just after we informed him), but I just couldn't shake the experience. When we left, they both gave a warm "have a nice day" - just would have been better feeling the sentiment at the start of the visit. The host/hostess set the tone for your establishment. The restaurant is located on the edge of the River Market District. The entrance is actually below street level. Take the stairs down to the front patio/courtyard area to get to the main entrance. I ordered the Flank Steak (medium) with mixed vegetables (squash, zucchini, red pepper, onions) and mashed potatoes. It came with chimichurri sauce which was so good. The steak was very tender and flavorful. The veggies were seasoned well and were prepared al dente which I prefer. It was so much food and I couldn't finish it all. I didn't have anything to drink besides water, but the drink menu featured specialty cocktails like the Caipirinha and the Caipiroska. They also offered other cocktails, wine, beer, and NA beverages. Even with having two servers, I still feel like the service could have been a little quicker at times. The calamari had a nice little kick to it, the caviar deviled eggs were just okay in my opinion, but the cheesesteak eggrolls absolutely stole the show and were probably my favorite thing we ordered. For dinner, I got the filet mignon. It was good, but as far as steaks go, it probably wouldn't make my personal top 10. The lobster mac & cheese, however, was really creamy and flavorful, and I enjoyed that a lot. I also ordered a cocktail that my waiter recommended, and while it tasted really good, it wasn't very strong. Got there a little early and our table was ready. Since it was a fixed menu, we only had a few options to choose from. First course I chose duck and pancetta, meatball, and my wife chose the Ahi Crudo. Ahi Crudo - flavors were good, just wish they would have gone with a sashimi cut over the thicker cut of tuna. It had a little chew to it. Duck and Pancetta meatball- probably the best seasoned bite of the evening, almost to the point of being too salty. The meatball was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. Second course I chose the lobster bisque, and my wife chose the strawberry and beet salad. Lobster bisque - lobster meat was very tender, and you could taste the good salty water that they boiled it in. The base of the bisque was lacking a depth of flavor. I expected it to be more pronounced lobster flavor in the biscuit itself. It was good. It was just a different flavor than I was expecting. Strawberry / Beet salad - the salad was very good. I liked the cheese that they put on the salad. Luckily I was able to steal a few bites from my wife. Main course I ordered the New York strip, and my wife ordered the lobster risotto. New York Strip - when the steak hit the table, I was very excited. As you can see from the photos, it was cooked perfectly. From the first bite, I could tell the steak was tender, but there was zero flavor. I don't know if the steak was not seasoned at all, or if they were just playing on the drizzle over the top of the mushrooms in the steak to add flavor. But the overall plate was bland and flavor. I had to add table salt, which I almost never do. Lobster risotto- lobster risotto looked amazing. My first bite of risotto that I was able to steal was pretty bland. I tried another bite before my wife finished the entire plate! The second bite was much better had a lot of of the pepper flavor in the risotto. My wife said the lobster was tender and delicious. Dessert! I chose the Tres Leches and my wife chose the chocolate pot de creme. Tres Leches - this cake was probably the overall favorite thing of the evening. You could taste the vanilla and the cream. It was a match made in heaven. The frozen strawberries on top provided a good texture contrast. Chocolate pot de creme- this was an amazing dessert also. The depth of flavor in the chocolate cream was truly remarkable. You could taste the different chocolate. Rich and decadent for the last bite. We chose to add the wine pairing on with the mail. All the ones were pretty good. Nothing earth shattering, but all paired well with the meal. Service felt a little rushed, and I understand that valentines is a big day for the restaurant. We would not be halfway through a glass of wine when the next glass of wine for the next course would show up. It almost felt like our server was trying to push the pace of our dining experience. This review will ultimately get updated. Because I never judge a restaurant based on one experience. So we look forward to our next date night, where we can stop by and try the standard menu.
