This Cactus Grill location has been around for a LONG time and when I rolled in for lunch with some old friends it really hit me that I hadn't been here since probably high school. That being said, I really had no baseline and no memory of what it was like so I went in with an open mind. Yelp reviews here are all over the place, and it's a local tex mex chain so I felt like the experience could be really just about anything. That being said, I was really happy with my lunch visit! I had a lunch combo of a taco and an enchilada and it hit the spot. The food was hot, tasted great, and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The service was also really friendly and prompt. I wasn't so blown away by the food that I'm craving it now, but would I go back for lunch again soon? Absolutely. Definitely really good tex mex, and reasonable prices for a sit down place.

Veggie fajita

Great food and service. Good quality and quantity. Ambience is very casual which I like. Drinks were ok for the price.

I was THRILLED when the new Cactus Grill location opened in Lenexa, as it's close to my house, but sadly it left the original CG in the dust. I went to lunch at the Leawood location late one afternoon and left disappointed. It took so long time to be greeted at the door we wondered if they were closed. We saw people eating at a few booths so we stuck it out and waited. Once seated we met our server. I won't say he was rude, but he was not friendly-at-all. He never said hello, thank you, or even smiled. I know he had the capability of smiling because I saw him laughing with a coworker. Our food took an unusually long amount of time considering how empty the restaurant was, but I was excited to eat my favorite item on the menu....in my estimation it would be worth the wait. It was not. The crab and shrimp enchiladas I have grown to love at the Lenexa location were honestly disgusting at this restaurant. The shrimp was "shrimpy" and seemed a little undercooked. I didn't eat them. The enchilada itself was swimming in grease. It was all very unappetizing. Thankfully Cactus Grill has incredible chips and salsa and a dynamite Jalapeño margarita that saved the day. After this visit I think I will stick to the newer shinier location instead.

Guacamole Dip

Went here a year ago and it was amazing, the same goes for now. The Guac is delicious and so is the tacos! Service was great too, will be coming back.

We stopped by Catcus Grill for Mothers Day and enjoyed a nice family meal. They had great portions of food for adults and kids. I ordered the fish tacos, fajitas, and three kids' meals. We liked all the food. I do wish the fish tacos just had more flavor. It was missing some kinda sauce that would have made it really pop. The presentation of the plates was excellent. Service was also very good. This place is worth a try.

Extremely happy with this restaurant. The food quality is high and a very robust menu. Everyone is friendly and they have extra large booths for 4-6 people! Enough food for take home left overs. They also have a discount for veterans.

Party of 5 gals. I couldn't control my obsession with free tortilla chips (Yikes!) FUEL after overconsumption of chips I ordered avocado toast. Surprised they now have brunch items. ATMOSPHERE typical chain restaurant with Tex Mex flair. SERVICE awkward waiter vibe, food arrived quickly. Finally, this chain restaurant was satisfactory. Recommended for regular schmegular folks.

Great service but not one TV is on! It's a Saturday night and Royals vs Cards are playing. Restaurants next door have it on!!!!! Not a great vibe

Service was good, food was awful. The menu doesn't have much variety and everything our table ordered came out the same. Not a fan.

The service was okay! Nothing super special but they answered questions and were helpful at the counter. This was our first time here so we ordered a few things to sample and share amongst ourselves. The first thing we had was the chips and queso, which I thought was a bit expensive at $7.99 but not too bad. The queso was fairly spicy but otherwise nothing special. I usually love queso so it surprised me how neutral I felt toward it! The chips were good, thin and light with a crispy bite to them. We unfortunately didn't get to try the salsa, noticing only at the end of our meal that there was a sauce bar near the counter! The birria tacos were also...okay. They were very juicy but not very uniquely flavored compared to everything else we tried. The meat was tender and I loved the texture of the tortilla, but didn't care for the massive handful of cilantro dropped on top of everything on the plate. The dipping liquid (birria sauce?) was alright! It was the same flavor as the tacos themselves so it didn't add much, but it definitely wasn't bad. The "main course" of what we ordered was a combo of soft chicken tacos, rice, and beans. The chicken tacos were unfortunately very cold by the time we got them which was a bit strange, as almost everything else was hot! They tasted good but I'm really not a fan of eating cold chicken, so I passed them off to my friends. The beans were just okay. There's really not much to say about them. The rice also left me disappointed! I typically devour Spanish rice. Not only was it cold, there were also odd, hard grains of rice mixed in. Not enough to get one every bite but enough that the experience of eating it was off-putting. It was also quite bland. Another note: While we were eating, there was this constant loud droning coming from the air conditioner. I'm a MASSIVE fan of air conditioning so I'm grateful it was on in the first place, but that is something they really need to get fixed. Two women seated near us actually got up and walked outside after commenting multiple times about how disturbing the noise was. My experience here was definitely a mixed bag but it leaned toward the positive, so we'll likely try them again! They had several other menu items I'd like to try, including some American fare that I found intriguing.

We had some great chips and dip and asked for the hot sauce from the back. Delish! The cheese dip was epic! Fantastic!! The large is no joke. It fed 5 of us and we didn't even finish it because the food came out so fast. My order was wrong. I asked for no chicken enchilada and 2 cheese and a beef instead. I got a chicken enchilada and 2 cheese. I don't like chicken enchiladas. Luckily my wife had a beef chimichanga and she shared that with me and took my unwanted fowl. Her margarita was huge and delicious. The kid that was bussing the tables and brought the chips was better than our server. He killed it. She didn't. Meh.

The menu is fantastic -- so many great options to choose from. We went all out and tried the spinach enchiladas, the Mexico Lindo special, sizzling fajitas, a burrito, and of course some tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious. We also started with some appetizers -- fresh guacamole, their new birria Mexican pizza (a must-try!), and some creamy queso dip. To wash it all down, we tried a few of their amazing cocktails, including a super cool black margarita. On top of the great food and drinks, the service was fantastic and the staff was super friendly. They even have a fun burrito challenge if you're feeling brave! Definitely recommend checking them out if you're in Kansas City. And if you want more foodie adventures, feel free to follow me at Neyan Ventures on Instagram and TikTok to see where I venture next!

This place specializes in seafood in Mexican cuisine perhaps this is the second location there's another location in the downtown, which we have been to, but let's get to how we like this place Food I would say was not amazing but good we didn't like the paella the rice was mushy. It was smelling different because of the clams and oysters that was definitely not fresh. We didn't smell a lot of saffron added to the food the crab meat queso was amazing and we also ordered another Spanish or Mexican shrimp with spicy sauce. That was amazing. The margarita was great.. There was literally one person available in the restaurant who was taking care of the bells bar food any requests coming? My waiter was Kara she let me know upfront she had not been working here that long, but she also was pretty knowledgeable and when she didn't know something, she found the answer for me. She was great at helping me find options and she was really nice. Drink: I love that their drinks weren't pre-made I got a ready fire aim with rum (bellows) instead of mezcal and it was really good. Perfect hint of spice and sweetness. The water was really nasty though. Food: Everything is made to order and customizable which is rare. -(6) Grilled chili butter oysters my favorite very great flavor -(6) Grilled Stuffed Oysters this was very different but still good I was nervous about the octopus idk of if I necessarily taste it was a fishy flavor but still great to try. I would probably try it without octopus next time. My waiter suggested using the premade lime mixture to cut the fishy taste and it worked perfectly and I also tried the habanero lime mixture. That's on the table and that tastes good as well it cut the fishiness. -Ceviche tostadas no carrots and light cilantro no (btw this is the Pacifico one): probably the best ceviche I've had and I added the habanero purée and it was perfection.
