Pork tamales, beans, calabacitas, fried jalapeño corn and flour tortillas.

Decided to try this for breakfast, bad idea. The food was OK, just not alot of choices. What killed it for me was the price. $32 for breakfast? I mean seriously, that's ridiculous. I had calabacitas, beans and 2 pork tamales. The tamales were OK, not great. The calabacitas were pretty fresh, but no cheese in them which was odd. The beans were good, refried and hardy. Also had corn and flour tortillas, and a fried jalapeño. You can't really mess those up honestly. The tortillas were nothing special to be honest. The one thing i did enjoy was the churros. Very fresh and warm, encrusted in sugar and cinnamon, so good! I would have rated this place a 3 if the price was half off. The service was great, everyone was nice but this place is a rip off.

If you are looking for a authentic cozy Homestyle Cooking like you walk into your grandma's house or a friend's house that welcome you to have dinner or party it's like that type of cooking. . When you first enter you will have to pay first and then they will see you and then you go to the buffet line and they will serve you because there is no self-serve. . The buffet is included with soda juice and coffee. I had their coffee and it was really good with spices and cinnamon. Also we did get a Diet Coke as well. . For the buffet line it went pretty quick and did you serve you and ask if you need more portion or less or if you like a specific piece you would just let them know. . I went during Thanksgiving weekend so they did have something special which they did have a whole turkey. They also had a pineapple and strawberry tamale which was different and homemade and it was on the sweet side like a pastry. They also have your Savory tamale as well with jalapeno and cheese or pork tamale. . They also have your Mexican soup like menudo and pozole which was really authentic and I really like the menudo because it has the beef stomach in it. The pozole has a lot of chickpeas and chunks of pork with ribs too. I also like how the garnish was not self-served so you can put as much onions and cilantro and any spices you need for the soup. . I really like their steak fajita with cactus stir fry it was really great and the meat wasn't dry and it was actually flavorful and had a nice tenderness to it. . They also have a lamb leg or beef leg I wasn't sure what it was but it was really great and I do love the presentation where they do cut pieces out of it to serve you. You do not get the bone but there is a big bone attached to the meat while they're cutting it for you. . They also have your chili relleno which was really authentic and it was a great texture and flavor. They also have your chips and salsa with guacamole and different sauces at the bar where you can self serve. . Overall I really like the cooking because it really reminds me of walking into a friend's house that welcomes you to their party and you get to try their cooking. It's very cozy and a nice selection to choose from. The price was about 30 bucks for an adult and 10 percent off for seniors. Thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.

    Horchata

Food was very delicious and with many authentic flavors. I was not too happy with being charged 8 dollars for the Horchata since it was nothing extraordinary or extravagant. I think they should have horchata in their included drinks since it is a staple in the Mexican cuisine just like drinking Coke-Cola. The ambiance is nice, good music playing, servers in the buffet area are attentive. The dessert area does need some attention since it is a small area and during my visit didn't get much options besides mini concha's and cookies. Was able to get some fresh churros which was glad to see they offer that. I am glad that a restaurant like this does exist since you can try many delicious Mexican dishes but dont get fooled to pay too much for regular horchata drink.

Food is unbelievable good, a lot of home flavors... the environment is 100% for the whole family, people at the front desk at friendly an bilingual, great service overall.

The Cactus Mexican Buffet is super welcoming with a check in for the waitlist right near the door. There isn't a ton of seating to wait inside. They offer all the favorites and some cool specialty non-alcoholic drinks. It was super busy and staff checked in a bunch. The buffet area was clean and labeled and staff serving were friendly. My favorite things were the tamales, plantains, chilaquiles, and rice pudding. Everything was very well seasoned and warm. I got the strawberry horchata, which was super creamy but the strawberry on it was a bit wilted. My only concern was that certain parts of the restaurant in the dining area and the restroom were not as clean as they could be. It was a great value and I'd definitely return for another visit to try the items I couldn't this time around.

    Birthday celebration

What a great find. We had to drive to Costco for work and hadn't eaten yet. After a quick search in the area, I came across Cactus Mexican Buffet. I LOVE chilaquiles and they had it. So my husband and I decided to try it. Wow! The food is great. It's prepared in small batches so what you're eating hasn't been sat out all day. We had chilaquiles, chile relleno, enchilada, gorditas, elote, tamales and more. It was all VERY GOOD. The staff were all so sweet. The ambiance is awesome. Not stuffy and not dingy. I'm excited to come back. $25/person for great food and all you can drink soft drinks is well with it.

Food was ok. Based on a buffet it was what you expected. Very clean and good service. I did like that they have kid friendly food as some kids only wants fries or nuggets stuff like that. I will say it's called cactus MEXICAN buffet but the don't JUST have Mexican food. So keep that in mind. For the price it's ok

    Marta M.

The service was excellent, but the food was just okay since it's a buffet-- all you can eat. However, they require you to line up each time you want to get food, and you may need to do this multiple times for additional servings. For example, when you're ready for your next plate, you'll have to wait in line, unlike simply grabbing what you want. I understand the reasoning, but it feels somewhat restrictive. The price per person is $30, which includes drinks, but only some drinks are included; others require a separate payment. We visited on a busy Saturday around noon, which was quite crowded.

I suspect the nighttime view is even better. I can tell this is definitely a locals favorite. I was surprised they even had a few table top slot games near the bar. Staff was epicly friendly and kind. The food came out quickly. One of the members of our party had the Chile Colorado. They said it was not as spicey as it should be. I like to refer this place as "that big orange building on the hill". They take reservations; call the restaurant directly to make yours. It can get busy during peak hours, so if you can't find a parking space in the parking lot, you can park on the street along Carnegie and walk over, which is what we did. We made our reservation at around 7:30pm and arrived on time, but we had to wait an extra 5-10 minutes for a table to open up. We got a table that had a great nighttime view of The Strip and other parts of the city. For drinks, I ordered a Raspberry Margarita on the rocks and my LTP ordered the Golden Road Mango Cart beer, a drink known to be very popular in other restaurants and bars these days. It did take a long while for both drinks to come out, but we passed the time by enjoying complimentary endless chips and dip. The dips were salsa and beans, but the salsa was incredibly spicy, so I stuck with the beans. Our food also took a while to come out - I think we waited about 10 minutes. A bowl of soup is offered with every meal. We shared a quesadilla appetizer (4), which was excellent and included a mix of sour cream and guacamole dip before moving on to the entrees. My eye caught the Torta (aka the Mexican sandwich) on the back of their menu, and I got this with grilled chicken breast as my choice of protein and fries on the side. The Torta was HUGE. It was really good and packed with sour cream and guacamole inside, but at the same time it was so big that I had to take the rest of it home with me. My LTP had the carne tacos, which were also huge and also had to take home with him. Service was a little slow, but the food and drinks were excellent. I also really enjoyed the view from our table.

My finance and I walk up to the hostess stand and there are 3 people standing there all of whom seem to be doing their best to avoid eye contact with me, none of them greet me in the slightest. I had to greet them and ask for a table, ok a little rude but ok. Then getting them to seat us felt like an inconvenience to them like how dare you make me do my job. One of the ladies (very tall in a very short skirt) actually takes her time to ask us if we want a booth or a table all while this guy in a red jacket is just staring me down the whole time as if to say "what the hell do you think your doing coming to this restaurant" which was extremely rude. I see this same guy walking around later and realize it wasn't a me thing that's just his whole thing he's just an a-hole to everyone, staff included. It very much seemed like he was micro-managing everyone but didn't actually do anything himself, clearly the definition of a manager. Once we got seated and we met our waitress everything else was fine but that initial interaction set the tone for the whole dinner and kind of ruined our experience. The food was delicious so we'll probably be back but not anytime soon which is sad since I live 5 minutes from gvr. I hope they figure out what the deal is at the just stand because that was a terrible first impression for the whole restaurant.
