Stopped at Noon on a Tuesday and we were the Only ones there for the first 30 minutes, which made us a little wary! But it got busy later.... Obviously got great service and liked all the choices. The Pastrami was on Marbled Rye, which was great, and since I am not a huge fan of sauerkraut the waitress suggested Cole Slaw instead on the sandwich which was surprisingly GOOD. This past summer, the Black Mountain Tavern became Copper Bull. It still has an extensive bar, multiple tvs, and good food. It's the same location, so still no patio with a view, but I really like the new look with the wood up the walls and bull decor sprinkled throughout. We didn't have big enough appetites for appetizers, but the pretzel bites and jalapeno hush puppies walked by us and looked good. The kids shared chicken tenders and fries, and they were pretty good. Us adults shared two flatbreads: the bbq chicken and steak & blue. Both were very good. I also tried the Rosy Bee gin cocktail. It wasn't my favorite that I've had (that's just personal preference though) but it was a pretty presentation, and there are so many more to try. This is a nice lunch and dinner option nearby when you don't want to drive all the way into downtown Cave Creek or busy Desert Ridge. read more

Wings are Amazing - probably best in town! They were big, juicy and perfectly cooked! Also the fried pickles are the best I've ever had! We hadn't stopped in since the name change so we decided to try their Happy Hour. We had a couple drinks, then ordered some HH munchies. First we had the hush puppies and the pretzel bites. The hush puppies were legit, especially when dipped into the cheese sauce that came with the pretzels. The pretzels were good but there weren't many of them. After a bit, we tried the potato chips and the chicken wings. The chips were subpar as many were undercooked and rubbery. The wings were huge and good but not great. We used the leftover onion dip from the chips on the wings. All in all, it was okay but nothing special. read more

Sandwich was decent but definitely wasn't "fresh sliced turkey and ham" as described . It was pre-sliced processed packaged deli meat. Didn't make an issue about it , because there isn't a way to ask about " fresh sliced" when processed deli meat is being used. Probably won't go back... just an ok place. read more

We are regulars at the Copper Bull. Good food, local bar ambiance, great waitstaff. They make their own potato chips and tortilla chips; just excellent. Good selection of food with the fish sandwich, pastrami sandwich and steak and walnut ( my favorite) among other great dishes. The ice tea is very good and nice selection of wine, draft and bottled beer pleases my wife and my differing tastes. They have a trivia note that is well-attended and live entertainment on some nights. Our neighbors told us of the Copper Bull and we have recommended it to others. Copper Bull was an unexpected treat. It's an unassuming , dimly lit spot in a strip mall - the outside of which boasts a vast parking lot, but still looks a little out of date. That said, the food was sooooo good. We happened in at happy hour and got most of the appetizers - we loved all of them. They seem to make most items in house and from scratch. We went to Copper Bull last Saturday for lunch. I left hungry. The service: There was only one person taking orders and he was both bartender and table server. But he did a great job and we appreciated how hard he worked at keeping up. 5 Stars! The atmosphere: The restaurant had a very clean feel to it, including the restrooms. 5 Stars! The food: Here's where it goes downhill. We ordered the jalapeno hush puppies appetizer. To say they were hard as a rock is not an exaggeration. We couldn't get a fork through them so finally just broke them apart by hand but found them to be inedible due to their hardness. We were shocked that they would even serve them that way! My husband ordered the fish taco for his entree. It looked really good and my husband said it was and he would order it again. They give you a very large piece of fish. Much more than you usually get in fish tacos elsewhere. I ordered chicken wings that, once again, were cooked within an inch of their life and were so hard and overdone that I finally just gave up trying to eat them. 1 Star!! All in all a pretty dismal experience. I left hungry and we were both pretty disgusted at the quality of the appetizer and the chicken wings. I am giving a 3 star rating only because of our server and the cleanliness of the place. We won't be back. read more

We ate today at Copper Bull Restaurant for the first time. We felt the food was good but very disappointed in the nickel & dimming on cost. They charged us $.56 for barbecue sauce which was a surprise charge. Then they add 4% if you use a credit card but they hand you the bill without asking if you are paying cash or card. I thought 4% was higher than typical. We are not going to return since we really do not feel comfortable not knowing all there up charges we could be billed. read more

This was our second time visiting for dinner. We had a party of 9. Albeit it was a Friday night and pretty crowded and very loud, but the service was a bit lacking... friendly but not very attentive. The burgers were as good as last time but the chicken sandwich came with the bun burned and chicken dried out, Pastrami Rueben was also not very good. So Thursday night is karaoke night and tonight was a disaster! Unfortunately management was not on duty. Kindergarteners were given the microphones time after time and were allowed to attempt the lyrics at full blast. At least 6/7 long songs during the hour we were present. This is a BAR NOT A BABY SITTING JOINT. There was no thought given to the few of us trying to eat. The two adults who were given a couple of songs were great, but had to step down for the kids. Apart from that the food was not near the usual standards. We gratefully escaped as quickly as possible. It will certainly be our last Thursday night there. read more

But the reason I wish I could give you a SIX STAR review was that my elderly parents' car wouldn't start after we had already left and YOU GAVE THEM A RIDE HOME!!! Oh my gawd if that's not a neighborhood bar, I don't know what is. We found out later that their car wouldn't start, and they had forgotten their cell phone. We had already left like dummies, so this was a comedy of errors. They informed us that they went back in for an assist, and you gave them the ultimate neighborly assist with a ride home. Place is a complete joke. Not sure how the owner is still in business. Had a party of 16 people and the OWNER kicked us out because we "didn't order food fast enough." Told her we would spend close to $1000 and she said "you won't spend close to that." Never seen an owner turn away business before... I bet their competitors love how incompetent the owner is. Just lost 10+ recurring customers. Also the owner basically called us liars and said we were in the wrong...? They said they were "holding" tables for us but our whole party was there so I'm not sure how they were "holding" tables when we were there already ordering food and drinks. This restaurant/bar has such a great neighborhood vibe. The decor is comfortable and the cool lighting is perfectly set. We were greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. Service was friendly and efficient. We got buffalo wings and fried pickles (not the healthiest I know) and both were very good. The wings were everything you want from a great wing, meaty and tender in a great sauce and the pickles were definitely homemade. I am looking forward to trying other menu items. My brother was in town and we had exhausted our goto places so I got on Yelp and looked for an adventure. Hit on Copper Bull because of the reviews. Walking in we passed a long bar and went over to the tables on the right and were immediately greeted with a smile. We could sit where ever we want as we were their pretty early. I had looked at the menu online and saw a Walleye dish I wanted but alas it wasn't on the menu anymore. The place is just opening as Copper Bull so small things can be overlooked. Nothing to worry about too much. I switched to the Pesto Chicken sandwich. The chicken breast inside was cooked perfectly, not overcooked and dry like so many places, and the sauce really made it stand out. My brother ordered a Double Burger which might have been called Diablo burger on the menu as it had Diablo cheese sauce along with green chili, grilled onions, avocado and more. He said it was cooked perfectly very rare which is unusually difficult to find and a big plus. On the negative side it said it was 2 1/2 lb patties and that was really suspect. It looked much more like 2 1/4 lb's to create a 1/2 lb. We didn't weight it of course but he seemed a bit disappointed although a pound of meat on a sandwich is kind of excessive, smile. I did not get a report on my wifes meal. We also had Onion Rings and Fries and both were in the higher end of great quality and flavor. The look inside is very pleasant, plenty of wood and there are artists paintings of bulls on the walls that are face on to the bull who is clearly running hard. They are full of action and energy and really pleasant. Finally we didn't stay but it was trivia night and the TV's were changed to permit and encourage the whole bar to participate using cell phones.
