The drinks were just okay and small-portioned (my Paloma tasted a little off,) and this is the first Mexican restaurant I've been to in my life that charges for chips and salsa. Server: "Chips and salsa?" Us: "Yes, please." Receipt: Chips & Salsa $4. Of course guacamole isn't complimentary, but chips and salsa is like bread and butter. While Cactus has been around quite a while we surprisingly have never been. My wife and I went for brunch on the weekend. We had avocado toast and eggs Benedict with brisket. I don't give 5 stars often but will here for sure. The service and food were great. They asked if we had ever been and we answered no so they brought us a complimentary dessert. My wife and I had a wonderful meal today. I had the steak salad and she had the chopped chicken salad. I loved the combination of steak, blue cheese, bacon, avocado and a lime dressing. Delicious! She said she liked the chopped salad as well. We got the flan and it was a great delight. The server was very nice despite only getting a few items and no drinks. We have been here multiple times and I'm not sure why I've never left a review...We keep coming back, so it must be better than good! We prefer this location to the Kirkland one, for some reason the food tastes better. The decor and atmosphere at Kirkland is nice though. The food is always delicious and the service is always great as well! Tonight in particular our server Branson D provided exceptional service. We LOVE the nachos and the TexMex Queso! We've had the carne asada, shrimp and grits, tamales, chamayo enchilada, chicken quesadilla, spa chicken and all are delicious! The only thing we haven't cared for was the chimichanga. The cocktails are usually pretty tasty as well. We've enjoyed the tequila old fashioned in the past and the seasonal Christmas Negroni tonight. Cactus is a good sized restaurant in Bellevue. They have an extensive menu with many items that look delicious. We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole...an additional charge for each. All of them were tasty. The chips thin and crispy, a good pairing to the salsa and chunky guacamole. The Baja margarita had jalapeño and cilantro but was surprisingly not spicy at all, which was disappointing. The southwest chopped salad was full of protein, garbanzo beans, cheese, seeds, chicken with a chipotle vinaigrette. Everything left me wanting for more! Service was good. Ok, let me start off by saying Cactus at 11:30am on a Sunday is a straight up disaster. We thought we'd sneak in an early brunch and didn't think it would be super busy, but there was already a wait when we arrived. Because the place was packed, service was dismal. Our server was running around like a bat out of hell and we had to flag people down to get stuff. All things considered, the food was meh and unmemorable. The chips and salsa was pretty paltr and my husband's bloody mary was literally almost all ice. He had a few sips and the glass was empty. For $10, I'd expect more of the actual beverage, not a full glass of ice. My bacon & egg quesadilla was a soggy ass mess when it arrived, because it was smothered in green chile sauce. Put that ish on the side! Who wants to eat a soggy quesadilla?! My husband's chicken fajitas were serviceable, but overall, Cactus totally missed the mark on our visit. We just felt super rushed given how slammed the restaurant was and it seemed like they were understaffed. read more

As I'm sure you've already gathered I am most always recognized and kindly greeted by the amazing staff of this establishment. With your first visit they provide a complimentary flan, which if one of the best I've ever tasted! (They do this upon request for birthdays as well!) I used Cactus for a large ($500+) catering order so my review is in the catering process. The booking process was easy and allows you to select all your items up until the day before your catering. There was a great variety of items which was helpful for a group with varying tastes. The pickup process has some hiccups to work out. I was instructed to park in curbside pickup and call the restaurant. No one picked up the phone the first few minutes I tried to call. When I finally got ahold of someone, they didn't know what I was talking about, and had to go get a manager. Thankfully once the person who came down to my car arrived he was SO helpful and helped me pack my car, showed me where everything was, and made sure I had everything. The food was still hot when we unpacked it at the destination about an hour later so I would call it a win! read more

Another friend of ours came early and it was surprisingly busy for a Thursday night - wait was about 30 minutes total? My friends and I ordered Nachos for the table, and our waitress brought out Chips and Salsa for us as well (more on this later)! Personally I love the chips here - they just have that quality to them that I love about restaurant tortillas. The brisket itself was full of flavor, and the entire meal left me feeling so full afterwards! It was tender, smoky, and paired well with the sauce drizzled over the burrito. My only complaint honestly is the fact that we were charged for chips and salsa? We never actually ordered it since we got the Nachos to share but the waitress just brought it out so we assumed they would be complimentary similar to other restaurants? Whenever I come to Cactus I always have a great experience. I went for lunch with my mom and we sat at the bar. Despite being the middle of the lunch rush, we were served very quickly and our server was kind and efficient. I ordered the Diablo Shrimp and a Cactus Coffee, both were delicious, the shrimp is my go-to and it never fails to fill me up while also being packed with protein. Because it's in downtown Bellevue, this location always has good vibes. The other customers are always super polite and it's always busy with people no matter the day. read more

I'm not sure if things have changed over time or if it's the location, but my experience was definitely lacking. I was definitely disappointed given all the recent reviews highlighting the service. My friends and I grabbed a seat at the bar. Initially, the service was quick and we placed drink and appetizer orders. After we received our food, we waited over 30 minutes before our server coming by to take our entree order. Throughout the meal, we asked for additional chips and salsa three times before we finally got it. Unfortunately we got it after we got the check and had to take it to go. For the food, the chips were thin and crispy, just what I wanted from a tortilla chip. The queso had good flavor and was a nice consistency. The salsa was a bit too sweet for my taste and my friend commented about it tasting like a jar of Tostitos salsa. The Camarones D' El Diablo had good flavor but wasn't crispy at all. The quesadilla was well made although I found the bacon to be a bit overpowering.
