I ordered a half dozen freshly shucked oysters of 2 varieties and when I asked the food runner which variety was which, the food runner didn't know either. Overall the decor and menu items really emphasized their seafood focus. They served their clam chowders in a couple of sizes, including a dinghy size that is just a few spoonfuls so you can get a 'taste'. My first time at Duke's and we in on a weekday afternoon for happy hour (ends at 6pm) for an early dinner. Overall a solid experience with good food, great service, and a prime location in downtown Bellevue Food: We split a large (12oz) chowder between 2 people and I had a chipotle havarti burger. The chowder had great flavor and lots of toppings in each bite. The burger was a large portion and came with a side of fries. I personally thought the burger was a little bit dry (I couldn't tell if it was from the bread or the meat) for my liking, but it came with lots of toppings such as bacon and avocado. Service: The staff here was extremely kind and served us extremely well with refills on water and bread Price: I'd say this is in line with what I'd expect in downtown Bellevue. This was my first time dining in at Duke's--I've only ever gotten takeout before, so it was a different experience. The restaurant is actually pretty large, with a big menu and a solid selection of seafood options. It's casual, but definitely not cheap--more of a once-in-a-while kind of place. My friend and I decided to share a bunch of items: clam chowder, calamari, a lobster roll, and the honey scallop and shrimp skewers. They also bring out a bread basket when you sit down--sourdough with butter--and it's really good. Pro tip: save some for the chowder, which is a must-order. Overall, everything tasted great. The clam chowder stood out, and the calamari was crispy and well done. The lobster roll was a pleasant surprise--it had a generous amount of meat, which we weren't expecting. Also, kind of random, but the sweet potato fries were really good too. The only dish I was a little unsure about was the honey scallop and shrimp skewers. Came here for a corporate dinner, so it's a good spot to accommodate large parties. We got a few appetizers to split with the table, with the most memorable being the lobster risotto bites (highly recommend). The crab dip was also good. For the main course, I decided to get the seafood mac and cheese. This was a $40 dish that tasted extremely bland... emphasis on extremely. It was creamy but lacked all other flavor. Even the protein (salmon, halibut, lobster) barely had any flavor. For the prices, the food here did not feel worth it. While the appetizers were good, they are priced around $20-$30. We found Duke's Seafood by chance when searching for raw oysters after shopping in Bellevue Square, and it already becomes our favorite for oysters in Bellevue. The restaurant locates in Lincoln Square, just across the street. We usually come here for brunch/lunch and always get seated right away. Except for the bar area, most of their tables have a very nice window view towards the Bellevue Square across Bellevue Way. The tables and booths are spacious so we can sit comfortably. They serve warm sourdough and butter here the moment you sit down, and we enjoy that very much. Their menu has many seafood options ranging from fish, clams, to crabs, and lobsters. There are occasionally some seasonal options as well. Of course our favorite is the oysters. They usually have 2-3 types of fresh oysters daily and we always try all of them. We especially love the combination of the sauces that come with the oysters that we cannot find it anywhere else. The oysters are sweet and fresh, pair greatly with the sauce which strengthens their flavor. They are also famous for their chowders and crab un-cakes, but we are not as impressed as the oysters. In overall, Duke's Seafood is a decent restaurant with a very good location right in Bellevue Downtown. If you don't want to reserve ahead of time or stand in line for a table after hanging out nearby, this is a pretty good option for seafood and fresh oysters. read more

The crab cake was tasty, but not quite $27 for one crab cake level of tasty. They did live up to their promise that it was more crab than cake, so that was nice. My wife had the cioppino. It was a watered down tomato soup that was semi seafood flavored. I had the fish and chips. These were actually tasty and well fried. It was the most dense panko batter though, if it was panko at all. Again though, $35 for two pieces of fish and a cup of fries. Our server was nice and professional. But we did wonder why every table in the restaurant had what appeared to be a complimentary basket of bread except us. read more

DUKE's SEAFOOD @ BELLEVUE I've been here twice already and have always really enjoyed how delicious everything is. I'm a huge seafood lover! Parking can be a hassle since it's at the heart of Bellevue Square Mall, I'd recommend parking for free by Macy's and then taking the cross walk to this place. The service is great, they have amazing service and you can get seated fairly quickly. We decided to get the clam chowder, which was good but it definitely could be seasoned a bit more, it's also hard to eat the whole thing because once you do, the bread is left soggy and sad. I finally got to try the Bellevue location and I ended up getting oysters to share as well as the crab cake sandwich combo with a side of chowder. I came to Duke's Happy Hour at the invitation of my girl friend. There were a few customers inside the bar area. We sat at a comfortable booth around it. My girlfriend ordered "Peaches for me" from a Happy Hour drink menu. And we ordered the fresh oysters we wanted. On this day, there were Kumamoto oyster and another type of oyster. We ordered six oysters each. I recommend this season's oysters. Kumamoto oysters had an exceptional aroma and flavor. You should eat seasonal oysters. The food is to die for! It's delicious. The fish and chips are thick pieces and perfectly cooked. The chips are also fantastic and taste almost of truffle fries but they're just potatoes, salt pepper and oil. The drinks are good and note weak. Thanks bartender. All of the staff are so friendly and attentive. I've never had to wave anyone over, because they do such a great job checking in frequently, and refilling our drinks without us even having to ask. They always give great recommendations for food too. We always order oysters (whatever is on special for the day) and they are always delicious, fresh, and chilled. We've also tried the fish and chips, coco loco prawns, and several of the chowders. Everything we've eaten as been delicious and perfectly prepared. I love Dukes and I love that there is a Dukes in Bellevue. I see the safety rating is excellent, which is important. It's so dark in the restaurant by the bar. I could barely see the menu not a problem. The menu hasn't changed for a while. We had the salmon sandwich which comes with sweet potato fries. I was surprised I thought it was going to be the regular fries, but apparently the seafood comes with sweet potato fries and the beef dishes. Come with regular fries. I'll have to remember that for next time. We started with one server in the bar, and I got a little nervous when I heard him say that he was going to go on break because our food was already taking a little bit longer than I would've guessed. Somebody else brought our food. I had the mixed green salad with candied pecans and blue cheese and it was so delicious. The bowl of soup was lukewarm. Two people walked by servers that were wearing heavy cologne. I really don't prefer that in restaurants My son ordered a Diet Coke and when it came, it was super flat when we asked about it. They told us that they carry seattle soda. Beverages so he changed to the root beer, which was not tasty but more carbonated. I ordered tartar sauce with my fries and it never came. The food was very good, but everything about the ordering process was a little bit confusing. I guess when we come again will know more about the fries and the soda. My husband really enjoyed his salmon sandwich. I will return, I like their food now that I'm newly versed in the details I hope to enjoy the restaurant with less confusion in the periphery. read more

It's been a while since we visited Dukes. Stopped in for a quick meal. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are fun, and the service is prompt and courteous. The Dungeness crab salad was plentiful, and while not chock full of crab, the crab portion was adequate and the salad portion was generous - enough to share. The large tureen of ciappino style red chowder was just a large bowl - no tureen, and large chunks of fish but a smaller portions of other seafood. For the price it seemed lacking, and the tomato broth was surprisingly a bit bland. The bill came to $109, which included a beer and a house wine. It felt a bit high for what we ate, but that seems to be the case for alll the restaurants in Lincoln Square these days. I think Dukes has other entrees that may be the better choices, but it may be a while to return given the recent visit. read more

The service was stellar! Best thing we ate was the coconut prawns. So crispy on the outside, the flavor of the prawns went well with the sweet sauce. Also loved the crab cake and it's presentation, and the chowder dingy. The latter is the perfect size and we all loved the original chowder. It was loaded with tasty bits, and robust but not too thick. Really great chowder. The warm sour dough bread was a treat. So fresh and crusty on the outside and tender inside. We had 3 entrées, all good but maybe not as perfect as the starters. The sugar snap peas were fresh and cooked well. We liked the additions to the rice rice. The stuffed lobster tail itself was ok. I actually ate the lobster separately from the "stuffing", just so I could taste the lobster itself. That flavor was hidden with the richness of the crab, shrimp, and cheese stuffing (itself tasty, but not lobstery). The ginger crushed salmon was cooked as ordered (med well), and the sauce went well with it. The stuffed salmon was also well cooked. We shared a carrot cake and it was big enough for the 3 of us to enjoy. The strongest flavor in the cake was cinnamon and while there were no perceivable mix-ins (such as orange or pineapple) the cake was tender. I absolutely loved my visit to Duke's. I was doing some shopping at the mall across the street and Google told me I should pay Duke's a visit. The place was low lit and not packed. My gf and I didn't have a reservation and were seated immediately. Before I get to the food I want to point out how good the service was. There were two people at our table CONSISTENTLY. I'm such a huge fan of restaurant staff working as a team for their patrons, and that's exactly the experience we received. They always had a smile on their face, checked in on us, and provided great food recommendations. So now let's talk about the grub... Everything I tried was finger licking good. The appetizer was the clam chowder, and it was the best chowder I've ever had (but take this with a grain of salt...I haven't consumed much chowder in my time.) For the main course I had the blackened salmon + pasta and it was good and filling. Luckily we came on a night when there was half off wine, so we grabbed a bottle of that to complete the meal.
