I tried this place bc it was recommended from a Facebook page supporting MoCo restaurants. And I was craving a burger. I was willing to drive the distance to try this place due to the raves (it was 40 min from me). We ordered ahead online so it would be ready for pickup during these COVID times. We ordered burgers and fries. We asked for ketchup on the burger and extra ketchup for our fries. And we got no ketchup at all in our order. The burger was a pre-made burger (not a fresh patty) and had no flavor. The fries were the only decent thing even though I didn't have ketchup. We ordered bottle drinks and they were hot. So no fun eating a tasteless burger with a hot soda. I only gave it two stars bc ordering online was easy and it was ready when we picked it up. read more

Definitely the best sports bar around the area that I've gone to. The wings are good, but pass on the burgers and nachos. Also sitting in the tv section can be hit or miss in terms of service. Odd thing: I thought today's server was good, but some of my friends didn't like her spunk. I think she grouped me with their opinion and yelled something at me as I left alone. So I guess it was good up to that point if that's how it went down. Just a weird end to the night. I don't blame her though, she was cute! Caddies appears to be a decent spot to grab a drink and watch some sporting event. I came in recently after a game with my softball team. We enjoyed the outdoor patio area as it was a nice night. The outdoor area is definitely good for socializing and enjoying your groups company. Head inside if you're more interested in watching the games. Staff was friendly enough, even though they claimed they closed at 12:30, they made us leave at 11:30, they were nice with their request though. Bartender was nice too, nothing special about his service but decent enough guy. It was a Monday night so the place wasn't overly-crowded, I could imagine football Saturdays or Sundays could be busy. Plenty of TVs to entertain the group and standard alcohol and various beers on tap. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices, drinks were on the cheaper side for the DC area, only bonus because the location will keep me from coming on a regular basis. Spotted a Rob Lowe lookalike at the bar. Free comedy open mic nights every second Wednesday upstairs at 8 pm. Half the taps are tolerable (312 Urban wheat, Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, Flying Dog Underdog Atlantic lager, Goose Island IPA) and slushy options in the form of rumrunner, pina colada, and margarita. Typical bar grub: pizza, sliders, sandwiches, finger foods. Nachos and tater tots were both huge portions, enough to share amongst five people. French dip was okay, not too guilt-inducing and with fries that were coated, crisped, and herbed. I'll have to try the BBQ pork and reuben next month. read more

Y'all, Caddies delivers chicken noodle soup and it is transcendent. I can't believe it either. The broth was flavorful, the chicken had good texture and taste, and the celery and carrots were beautifully, amazingly al dente- they tasted super fresh and had a nice crunch in the center. Non-soggy soup vegetables will change your life. (The noodles were vastly outnumbered by all other elements, which is fine by me.) I cannot speak to the atmosphere of the bar or other foods, but I am compelled to sing the praises of this excellent soup. read more

Worst bar experience I have ever had. I was closing out my tab when a bouncer aggressively yelled at me to put a mask on. I looked around and saw no one wearing a mask at the bar. I told him that I was closing out my tab and about to leave. Next, he grabbed from behind and threw me to the ground. The other bouncers physically threw me out and refused to give me my credit card back. Instead, they charged me a convenience fee for holding the credit card over night. Needless to say, their service is terribly rude. In addition, their drinks are way too expensive and you can get a better bargain at Tommy Joes or Saphire. The bartenders at these bars are extremely helpful and the bouncers are really nice. Never going back to caddies again and considering pressing charges. read more

My team decided to host our coworkers Bachelor Party here on Thursday and it was pretty decent. I love the rooftop vibe and the fact that we pretty much were able to take over a certain area in the bar. Unfortunately the golf Master was on every TV so it kind of killed the vibe a bit, but was understood. The food was amazing, the wings, the spinach dip, so delicious! I wasn't that impressed with the happy hour selection nor the happy hour prices, but I guess that's just a Bethesda thing. If I had to choose between a night at Union Jack's on St. Elmo or Caddies on Cordell, hands down, I'd pick Caddies. Perhaps my experience was a tad unique since we were in the upstairs bar area for a "farewell" happy hour for one of my co-workers but I had a decently good time here. Our bartender was really friendly, efficient and willing to make new drink concoctions at the suggestion of some of my co-workers. There were also half-price appetizers going on so that was a pretty good deal. I ended up getting the sliders sans fries (gave up fried food for Lent). My only beef (haha) with the sliders was that they put ketchup and mustard on them for you. I do not like either condiment so I had to scrape it off and made a mess but oh well. They were still pretty tasty. I have no idea how much my food / drinks ended up costing because my branch manager showed up and put everyone's tab on his card but I think everything was very reasonably priced. I didn't go to the downstairs area but I really liked it upstairs. The booths each had its own HDtv for watching sports games and there were a couple other bigger tvs around the room. There is an outdoor deck area which I imagine fills up pretty quickly in the warmer months. I could totally see myself coming back in the spring/summer and enjoying a beer on the deck. read more

omgggg this place gives me nightmares.... I hate hate hate this place. It's like a frat party you didn't want to go to, but someone told you there would be a lot of alcohol, so you gave in. Yes, it's a bar... so there is a lot of alcohol... but that's where the good things stop. It IS a frat party. People here are often too wasted to be considerate or polite. I was paying my bill on the first floor once when some girl crowdsurfed right over me to get to the bar, knocking my bill, pen, and credit card out of my hands, then declining to (a) apologize or (b) help me find my stuff in the dark. This is not unusual... this is how most people who go here behave. The ONLY somewhat redeeming factor is that the outside upstairs level is usually a little less crowded... you can most likely find a seat... but typically only if its not during the popular times in the summer. Try to go outside in December when it's 32 degrees (if they keep it open) and you may get lucky. By the way - the po-po's stalk this place like no other. If you park in the garage next to Caddie's, take a left out and go out to Old Georgetown versus Wisconsin. I have seen way too many promising youngsters outed by the cops once they made that fated right hand turn out of the garage. read more

Especially if you want to see those depressingly fratty guys that gained 20 pounds from tons of beer If these do not apply to you, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I wish I could come up with a better word to describe Caddies, but Douche-tastic seems to fit it the best. The people are super obnoxious and loud and love to chug the not-so-cheap buckets of light beer. This was clearly not the case, as any casual observer would notice from looking in through the huge windows. But I put that aside because I didn't want to make a big deal of it. Not more than 2 minutes later, two girls get out of a cab and walk right into the bar after saying hello to the bouncer. I ask him what the deal is and he says, "They're regulars, you expect me to turn away regulars?" Hell yes!! If it's actually because of some kind of safety consideration you're damn right I do. My last bad experience was when I foolishly bought a Groupon thinking that at least I could assemble a group of people who would want to get a drink there early in the night and then go somewhere much better for the remainder of the night. But that was optimistic because no one I know wanted to go. Finally, my girlfriend reluctantly agreed to accompany me and we went for dinner around 6:30. There were maybe 6 other people in the place and the TVs were deafeningly loud for no apparent reason. Our waitress gets us some water and beer and says she'll be back in a minute to take our order. 20 minutes later I'm finally able to flag her down. Her excuse for not being there "I'm sorry, I totally spaced out." I wish I was making that line up. read more

I'll be honest, I had BIG doubts about Caddie's before going in. I've rolled by on numerous occasions when the patio has been overrun by guys who all seemed to be in competition for the title of Maryland Frat Boy Archetype. Now I went to Maryland, and I love Maryland, but frat dudes at Maryland-- with their text book sort-of good looks, overt sense of entitlement, loud mouths and soft brains-- aren't really my idea of a good time. Pairing that crowd and a Bethesda location, and I had pretty much written Caddie's off as someplace I was never going to go. A couple weeks back, however, I really wanted to watch both a Raiders game (Raiders, baby!) and a Bills game (Marshawn Lynch, baby!) and after surveying the bar options I settled on Caddie's because it was close and the staff swore on the phone they would have both games. For those reasons alone I went in, and was pleasantly surprised. I don't know what Caddie's is like when it's not a football Sunday (nor do I want to know, honestly), but for football it's really pretty good. The bar and dining area both have numerous quality TV's, including one large projection screen. The game schedule for the TVs was clearly outlined on the door, so you could find where you wanted to be easily and didn't have to fight with someone else over what game to watch. The dining room seating was crowded but not over run, the other patrons were friendly and not overtly fratboy-y, and given the crowd the room noise was surprisingly manageable. The dining room bench seats were comfortable, the tables were spacious, and the staff was attentive without being bitchy when we didn't really order a hell of a lot during our four hours there. We didn't get a lot of food or drinks, but we did order a plate of nachos and asked that half have black beans and half have refried. The waitress split the order willingly and brought out two enormous plates of nachos-- so big we had to ask her if she had actually placed two orders. She hadn't. Soda refills were free, which was generous since most people were there for several hours and nursing sodas along with their adult beverages. Our vodka crans (yeah, boring, I know) were decently stiff and not outrageously priced. I was really quite pleased with my experience at Caddie's and would willingly go back to watch football or another sports event. Caddie's happy hour on a summer night, however, still ain't gonna be my cup of tea. read more

A family member was ranting about the wings at this place so I decided to make a trip to try them. I placed my order through grub hub on the way, and by the time I got there (20 mins later), the app said my food was ready - fantastic! I went inside, asked the nice bouncer where to pick up grub hub orders, and he directed me to a table in the back. My order wasn't there, so I asked a waitress about the order. She said "It will be over there". Ok. More waiting. About ten minutes later, a waiter came out of the kitchen and started to pull tickets down from above the table. I said "Excuse me sir, I just wanted to check on a grub hub order?" Without looking at me he said "It's coming ok??" in a hurried tone. I then said "How do you know it's coming and you don't even know my name?" He looked at me and said "Im not in the kitchen!" I said "Why are you talking to me like this?" He looked me up and down and walked away without saying anything. My husband ended up coming inside and speaking to the manager, who was very apologetic. However, this experience put a bad taste in my mouth, and the food wasn't great so there's no need for me to come back. read more

Truthfully, there's not a diverse crowd, so if that's what you're looking for - head into DC. You'll have much better luck. read more

i was a little young for the show Cheers, but the concept was not lost on me. I always feel that reference when I go to Caddies. they always wave hi, they always know my drinks, and (shocker) theres always a friendly ex boyfriend of mine or two there. it really is THAT bar. maybe I'm not the fanciest girl, but I appreciate bar food for what it is. this is bar food at its finest. i've found myself craving a hot club, garlic parmesan wings, bbq chicken pizza, and DEFINITELY their amazing wheelbarrow full of tots. do normal people crave bar food? whether its happy hour or closing this place down, I always have a great time and I always know i'll be back. read more

Caddie's has Silver Strike Bowling. That alone makes this place totally awesome! So the BF, his friends and I came over here after our mediocre meal at Black Finn. Grabbed a table and had a really sweet server who took good care of us. The guys had beer and I had another bloody mary. Bloody mary was SPOT ON - spicy and yummy. Since we got jipped on the nachos at the other place, we decided to order nachos here. OMG!! The biggest pile of goodness on chips ever! Now these are how nachos should be done. Black bean sauce, two kinds of cheese broiled until melty on good chips, topped with HUGE dollops of sour cream, guac and pico de gallo. Our server even gave us a side cup of chili since the BF is vegetarian (the giant vegetarian boyfriend) and I don't eat beef. The other two guys thought this was awesome. We hung out, played some silver strike, and just enjoyed ourselves. As the night moved on, it got really crowded, but not in a crazy way. Everyone was enjoying themselves and we had a blast. The only thing I don't like about Caddie's is the women's bathroom situation. Seriously, when that place gets crowded, there's a lot of people in there. That means a lot of girls who have to use the facilities. Two bathroom stalls for all those girls is really not nice. So if you're there and it's crowded, plan on waiting a while to use the bathroom - DON'T wait until you're about to burst or you'll be sorry. Overall though, Caddie's does the sports bar thing right. So everytime I goto DC to visit my bestfriend, I find myself in this warm establishment. Maybe it's the fact that there are in fact, a lot of beautiful women in Bethesda. I swear it's a 34C requirement to live up there. Maybe it's the fact that they have a decent selection of beer on tap. Maybe it's the fact that I actually think they have above average bar food fare. Or.... maybe it's the fact that they make Jager bombs properly. Who really knows and I have probably already forgotten most of the good stuff due to alcohol consumption anyways. They have a solid bar staff... Meaning the two/three bartenders know their shit, don't wait for your beer to be empty, and make an effort to converse with the lowly patrons. Particularly the one like me that decides around 10:30pm on a Friday, October 2nd.... "Shots for everyone!!! Who wants some." Did that same stupid shite at McFadden's that Sat nite too. I'm an idiot. When it's warm out, they have a fun patio as well. And, after 3 years of visiting this place, I discovered the 2nd floor. How did I never see this part of Caddies? Sheesh. Creature of habit I guess. So yes, I recommend this place as a fun place to go drink, watch sports, and people watch in overly wealthy Bethesda. My lowly Atlanta paycheck can afford beer here. I will be back and probably before the end of the year. Therefore, if you like never-ending beer (just make sure you keep eyes on your tab... $150 can happen in a blink.), perfectly made Jager bombs, nachos that will knock your socks off, the 34C Happy Hour group, and just a fun overall place, then venture forth to Caddies! read more

I was lucky enough to attend Caddies for their weekly Sausage Festival tonight. After reading all these comments about Caddies being the business casual fraternity party, I was actually pretty excited. I mean, who doesn't love a good party? Everything that was said in all these reviews is probably true. This place is the dive of Bethesda. The beer is cheap and the food is low quality bar food that has more grease than nutritional value. You could sooner pass off road kill as an appetizing meal than half the crap on their menu. I probably won't frequent this place, unless I am dragged there by friends. Seriously, what is appealing except some sad desire to relive your college days? read more

It's been a few years since I rated Caddies, and since then, it's our office's go-to external "conference room." You know what you're getting here. Drinks are reasonably priced, bar food is exactly what you expect, and the service is solid (not sure who R.H. had, below, but I've rarely gotten sub-par service in 4 years of patronizing). Decent patio area in the summers. Not too many pretentious folks, which is hard in Bethesda. If you want a martini, go to Black's. If you want a draft beer, go nowhere else. read more

Caddies is what it is : a sports bar for watching local college games and Redskins/Wizards, and to a lesser extent the Caps. The best times to go are 1) Saturdays after SSB football games. They have awesome food and beer specials if you wear your shirt from the game. Super cheap omelette's, mini-burgers, and pulled pork sliders. I believe the pitchers are only 6 or 7 bucks too. 2) Thursday nights. My Thursday night social life is a dagger because we have weekly meetings on Friday at 7 am, but on the rare occasions I can tag along with my Friends, this is the place to me. yes it is a meat market, but this is where the talent in Bethesda goes on Thursdays. I've also enjoyed a few Terps football games here, and 1 "night before thanksgiving" where it seemed my entire High School was out. For a time my friends and I referred to it as "Bentleys South", because it has a ton of former UMD 20 somethings at pretty much all times. The bartenders are always really cool, and the food is above average for a sports bar. The people that knock Caddies are a little harsh I think, you just have to have realistic expectations for it. read more

***Update***I generally like this place, but the tall ID guy up front touched tapped my boys ass. They don't know each other and he didn't mistake him for someone else cause he just looked at his ID. It was weird, but I laughed at my friend all night. When the sun is shining and the weekend is nearing put your drinking shoes on cause it's happy hour at Caddie's. Caddie's on Thurday and Friday evenings are alot of fun. Great outdoor seating if you're lucky to get a table. Inside, it like your old college bar. Same decor. Same Golden Tee machine. Same old guy that hasn't realized people his age drink some where else. Crowds are usually not too bad, but if it's after 10 there usually a line to get in. The food is average mediocre bar food. You have your generic burgers, over cooked chicken fingers, and the epitome of bar foods the taco salad (10,000 calories but still counts as eating a salad). But no one comes for the food. You come for hot girls, stiff drinks and drunk rides home. read more

I used to cringe when people wanted me to meet them at Caddies... I'd find any excuse not to go. But my last visit taught me a lesson. I was slapped in the face with the shame of being a biased food snob. Shame on me! Nachos: I can't remember when I've been so excited about nachos... maybe when I was in elementary school and first experienced those round bulk chips with fake pump cheese in a square corner of a plastic tray (not a food snob back then). But Caddie's nachos are far from that... My friends ordered their usual nachos which was a generous portion of Crispy baked thin chips piled with cheese, sour cream, and guac. Surprisingly, you can order them with seasoned tender pulled chicken breast pieces as well as black bean dip AND meaty chili - both of which were fabulous (ask for them on the side) Tots: The tater tots with bacon were also so crisp and generously heaped onto a large plate with ranch on the side. Wow. Club Sandwich with side salad: Surprisingly, the bread was perfectly buttered and toasted and the salad was standard but fresh. I drank miller lite (ick) to "negate" the Nachos and tater tots -- it makes perfect sense... trust me. But there are craft beers and ciders on tap. My hubby's Macallan on the rocks was very generous. He barely finished it. Ambience - sports bar and the crowd can get kinda rowdy on the weekends. Hey, a place for the "youths" of Bethesda! ;) So Caddie's is a dive bar and it has its charms and annoyances, but mostly it's a decent place. Happy hour isn't bad. If you are on a sports league (bocce) you get specials, too. The food is so-so (but then I'm a vegetarian and that's my assessment of nearly everywhere). However, you do have a few choices and that is good. It's very filling, greasy type bar food. There's ample space which is a huge thing in Bethesda. It's got nice outdoor seating upstairs and downstairs. However, it would be much more enjoyable if the smokers didn't always camp out there giving me the gift of their lovely second hand smoke. Oh and I did trivia on Tuesday and I thought it was a great space for trivia. I should note here that one GIANT PLUS for Caddie's is that YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR YOUR NEIGHBOR and the acoustics are good. This bodes well for trivia and that is a nice sectioned off area of the bar. Oh and lastly the management is always nice. No one has ever been rude or inattentive here. So... that explains why Caddie's is a nice hang out. read more
