Hey, a place for the "youths" of Bethesda! ;) So Caddie's is a dive bar and it has its charms and annoyances, but mostly it's a decent place. Happy hour isn't bad. If you are on a sports league (bocce) you get specials, too. The food is so-so (but then I'm a vegetarian and that's my assessment of nearly everywhere). However, you do have a few choices and that is good. It's very filling, greasy type bar food. There's ample space which is a huge thing in Bethesda. It's got nice outdoor seating upstairs and downstairs. However, it would be much more enjoyable if the smokers didn't always camp out there giving me the gift of their lovely second hand smoke. Oh and I did trivia on Tuesday and I thought it was a great space for trivia. I should note here that one GIANT PLUS for Caddie's is that YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR YOUR NEIGHBOR and the acoustics are good. This bodes well for trivia and that is a nice sectioned off area of the bar. Oh and lastly the management is always nice. No one has ever been rude or inattentive here. So... that explains why Caddie's is a nice hang out. read more

Stiff drinks! Great place to grab a drink or two...ok I'm lying ...or 10. Fun bar with a good young crowd. Clean place, good bar food, in fact very good food! friendly staff, and the bartenders hustle which I always appreciate. Owners are usually present, working, and always friendly. Only small knock is warm pint glasses, but understandable when the place is busy. If you are in town don't pass this place up weather its a warm up spot before the big nite out or just hangn' local. Came here on Monday night to watch football and for a friends bday.. The place was packed so you can imagine the service was anything but good, in fact I asked for a glass of water 3 times so I ended up going to the bar to get one myself. You would think that since I ordered food the server would think I need water or some drink other than alcohol to go with it. The prices are pretty high too for a bar I ordered the chicken tenders that came with fries but for added $2 they put cheese on the fries so in total it was $15 kind of steep for the portion size and the cheese wasn't cheesy, but the tenders were good. I also ordered the veggie pizza it was pretty good as well.. Overall I had a good time that's why I gave this place 3 stars.But the service needs improving or hire/schedule more people on game nights! read more

As a social sports bar, Caddies on Cordell works. Don't go to this place looking for high sophistication, go for having some beer with other late 20's, early 30's folk, maybe grabbing some average pub fare and watching a game. The place features two outdoor sitting areas, one upstairs and downstairs, as well as an individual bar for each level. The food is good for the typical sports bar, but again, it's hard to find much under $10. Service here is above par for your typical sports bar, with bartenders being very friendly and very quick. A quick note: you have to be 21 to get into this joint(don't bring your fakes as they have a license scanner), or else they will escort you out, as I witnessed on Friday night. Yes, I can see where some people would be bummed by the presence of frat-boys for life (and no one dislikes this genre of human being more than myself) but I don't think that stereotype applies to the majority of the crowd when we go to Caddie's, which is on Sundays to watch NFL games. (Plus, it's a sports bar. If you don't want to be surrounded by uncouth sports fans being loud and occasionally obnoxious, go eat Thai somewhere.) We go here on Sundays to watch the games, since we can't get a dish at our apartment and seeing only 4 games a week is not enough, especially since we are actually interested in west coast teams. Caddies plays every game on at least two screens, so if we arrive early enough (especially if the Redskins game is on) you should not have a problem finding a seat with a view of the games you want to see. Parties of 4 or more can slide into the back booths that each have a television screen you can tune to any game you want. The waitresses are generally very nice and attentive, and they have really good bar food (delicious hot wings, really good pizza and, as previously mentioned, the sliders) for decent prices. Plus, it's really close to where we live. So overall, Caddie's is a great place to go for a Sunday or Saturday afternoon to mingle with sports fans from all over the country, have some good beer, and enjoy the game. read more

Negative! NEGATIVE! Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS! There was a "hidden charge" added to my credit card that I DID NOT sign for. When I called the restaurant to inquire about this, the person answering the phone challenged me to "Come down there and do something about it!" in a threatening manner and then hung up on me. This is after I left the brain-dead so-called waitress a tip that was more than she deserved. The service on the patio did not exist. My drink was left unfilled for an hour at a time. I might be back to this hell-hole soon only to absolutely stiff the waitstaff on their tips. Only pay cash to avoid hidden charges. And leave the waits your pennies. They deserve pennies. read more

The service isn't anything to note, the food is bar food, and the drinks are typical. I ordered the greek wrap. It was good, but I couldn't finish it. Surprisingly, the french fries were very good! We had an amazing experience here. We came to watch the basketball game, but when we come back it'll be for the service we get. This time we got Bethany. I had a beer and a buffalo chicken sandwich. My companion had a steak and cheese that was so good that I ate a quarter of it (she was mad). And the cheesy tots were to die for A note about Bethany: she really raises the bar when it comes to servers. I never had to wait for a new beer, she suggested the two best dishes and they were amazing, and she turned me on to a new beer. Thank you! Worst customer service ever. We placed an online order the Friday before the Super Bowl to be picked up at 5:45 on Super Bowl Sunday. My husband was there at 5:45 and did not leave with our small order until 7:15. We chalked it up to being very busy on Super Bowl Sunday. Low and behold we received an apology email from caddies a few days after the Super Bowl stating that they would be giving gift cards to those that received poor service. I responded to the email and heard nothing. A week later I filled out the contact form for caddies and still heard nothing. A week later I called caddies and explained the situation and he assured me a manager would return my call. Nothing. Caddies is definitely my favorite sports bar around. I have been coming here almost every week ever since I started playing SSB football and they were the bar sponsor. Even after they switched to Tommy Joes, a lot of the league still keeps coming to Caddies because it's just that good! Nothing beats the wings, chicken fingers, sliders, loaded nachos, cheese fries, the list just goes on! Prices really aren't bad, especially if you get there early. It's nice that they have the upstairs bar with the deck which is super low key, and then they have another large bar downstairs, a patio, and interior seating that is more restaurant-ish. So there is ample space, easy access to the bar, and the wait staff is all super friendly. Caddies is definitely my favorite bar in Bethesda! read more

Short and sweet: Food: 3 stars. Diverse menu, but a little expensive. Nice Happy hour specials Service: 3 stars. Went on "trivia night" and hardly got asked about or food. And I guess it got busy because it took 10 minutes to bring the bill. Ambience: 4 stars. You can't go wrong with the outdoor patio, the giant projector and individual TVs in each booth! I keep coming back to this place so I can't exactly hate on it. However the waiter/waitress service at the tables is horrible, and mixed drinks (never order a margarita here) are pretty nasty. I ordered a red bull bomb and they brought me the glass with all the contents already in the drink... isn't that a mixed drink, which is not what I ordered?? The bear selection is pretty good though and they do have the occasional deal, which is fantastic. If your a sports fan I would definitely recommend Caddies to watch football on Sundays with your friends, but I wouldn't really consider it a place I would want to go to on a Friday or Saturday night. The bacon+cheese tater tot appetizer was absolutely massive -- and fried to greasy perfection. The PBR was cheap, at least. Otherwise, the wait service at our table was pretty slow. Dined al fresco with a total party of 4 on 9 August 2015. I ordered a vegetable wrap $11 and added shrimp $3 extra dollars. It was loaded with romaine hummus and olives, plus old alfalfa sprouts and I will not get that again. The sweet potato fries were alright and my friend got chicken wings $12, fries $5 and bbq sauce was 75 cents extra. All In all, $37.75 subtotal and $40.02 after taxes. I like to eat outside and caddies has a decent patio if you won't mind people with dogs and the smell of old beer. Nice to know there's an authentic sports bar in Bethesda. read more

Random night of the week to have a beer - check. Always some sort of game on the Numerous tvs - check. You bet you. However, its roomy, cozy, and I could definitely see putting a few pints down here. You want cheap booze and bar food to satisfy your craving, all within walking distance of our little nook of 'uptown' Bethesda, boom ... that's Caddy's. You have to seat yourself. My mom, brother, and me sat in the middle of the dining room. There were lots of TVs mounted on the walls, two with the same channel on, but some were different. Good variations. The waitress was nice, but the food was not. The crab cake slider tasted way too salty for my taste buds. The pulled pork was mediocre as well as the roast beef and meatball slider. The fries on the side tasted like frozen fries. I did not enjoy them. The BBQ Grilled Chicken on top of the pizza was good, but the crust was too soggy to chew. Lastly, the wings were the best. I tried the garlic parmasean, which were okay, I couldn't really taste the garlic. I could see it. The honey bbq flavor was much better. I would not come back again. read more

With tons of TVs, outdoor seating and two bars (upstairs and down), Caddies makes for a local favorite sports bar. They have a wonderful drink selection and specials. Sadly they had to minimize their menu size but everything they kept is still clutch. Pizzas, nachos, wings, quesadillas, and all sliders, salads and sandwiches are wonderful. They post new special monthly I think and those can be fried pickles or a unique mac n cheeses (sometimes with hot dogs in it). Also, they have two floors and if you want to rent out the top floor it is great for big parties but for a price. read more

I have only tried this place once so far and that was for lunch. At first I was reluctant about going to a joint that is over ran with dudes who have large egos and no sense but I was fortunate that day. The place was nearly empty and the experience was ok. My buddy and I sat outside. The patio is large, the tables are small and the ground uneven, making things pretty shaky. But in a way it is still comfortable. We ordered wings as an app. The deep fry them and then put them on the broiler to add some grill marks and perhaps some more flavor. Either way, they were quite good and very meaty too. No tiny wings in this joint. We also tried the Reuben and the Pulled Pork Sand. Both were large in size with lots of fries. The quality was better than I expected and in line with most chain restaurants. Certainly a lot of food for the buck, and for Bethesda standards that says something. Service was friendly and quick, but remember, the place was pretty empty. I'd try them for lunch again, but will never go during busy times because the other reviews clearly describe a Caddies I am not interested it. read more

I am usually easy to please, but this place kinda' sucked. I wish it weren't the case, but it was. A friend and I were simply looking for a few good eats on Friday. Of course, we're broke like most ppl our age so we were looking for a place with cheap appetizers for happy hour on Friday. We found one! Caddies on Cordell is listed on the Happy Hour website as having 50% appetizers all night on M-W and 50% from 4-7 on Fridays. As it was 5pm, we thought we'd give this Caddies a shot. Food was quite underwhelming, but maybe they're known for something other than great food as the place was packed when we got there. Great scene with lots of young professionals milling about and trying to have conversations or place orders over very lous music. We placed our order then, when time came to pay, we were told that the appetizers were indeed NOT 50%. SOME of the appetizers were 30% off, but not all of them. Of course, the ones that are even 30% off are not listed on the menu. I didn't even argue about it with the waittress (pointless). I just decided not to go back to Caddies again because of the false advertising. read more

Still have not been back to caddies since original incident. My friend contacted the police and talked to them and Caddies management. Their response was that if my friend pressed charges they would file charges against him for being drunk in public or something along those lines. Mind you at the time of the incident i was pregnant (it was very early on) and I was 100% sober and have a full understanding of what went on and how everything happened. There was zero apology offered and instead they went on the defense, which is expected for the type of establishment it is. This review is for the staff service upstairs at Caddies. Went to Caddies to watch the World Cup (4pm on a Tuesday). It was jam-packed but fun until the main bartender was drunk to the point that he barked at me and my friends to move over for the seats he had "personally" reserved for his 7 friends (all 400-lb men). Mind you, I had been there the entire game. He berated me obnoxiously and loudly for not understanding what he meant to move over (I was in the corner and already pushed up against the bar). I'm not one to complain but his lack of respect and customer service was frighteningly awful. While the female bartender was friendly and attentive, this guy ruined the entire experience. Fellas, don't bother bringing your women here if you want them to be respected. Ladies, save yourself the effort and take your party elsewhere. I don't ever plan on returning to Caddies. read more

In spite of the crowds, noise, aging frat boys, etc... this is still my favorite spot in Bethesda to watch any game. They have tons of TVs, plenty of seating, and great food. When the weather is nice, they do an open-air setup on both floors. The patio on the street level is a little grungy with dirty plastic furniture, but it's enjoyable on a warm day, and the top floor has a fun balcony. You can also still see some of the TV's from outside. I really appreciate that the servers and bartenders are fast and efficient, especially with the crowds that tend to fill this place. The main draw for Caddies is to watch sports, but the food is also excellent. Their menu is mostly cheap bar food such as nachos, quesadillas, sliders, wings, pizza, and fries, but everything is really well done with fresh ingredients. Surprisingly, a favorite of mine is the salad. I realize that doesn't count as the "bar food" I was raving about, however they offer these great build-your-own salads with over 20 ingredients to choose from, and you can add chicken, shrimp, steak, etc. Actually, these salads may be the best in the area (take that, Sweetgreen!) read more

Never going back. Food was mediocre at best. And to top it off we came early tonight (to secure a good seat) to watch the UofM ND game. And we had to endure an hour plus of obnoxious Penn State fans swearing bc Appalachia State nearly beat them to get those seats! Fast forward to 7:30 start when we were told no they could not change the the big TVs bc a band was allegedly warming up (they were on and off playing around on stage) but we could sit at the bar and watch it on one small set. They check your ID to get in to get food. I didn't have my ID on me on a Sunday with no intentions to drink. They had a former FBI agent/secret service employee working the door and he would not let us eat even though I'm 32 and look 35! Keep in mind there were toddlers in there. read more

I've been to Caddies many times over the past 4 or 5 years and typically don't have any issues. I went there a couple of days ago to eat dinner and grab some beers. The food was great - I've never had any problems with the food. The wait staff and service is extremely poor if you're sitting in the dining area. It's 2 people most of the time and they visited our table 3 times over the course of 1.5 hours. I will return but only for happy hour. Better service would make this place more enjoyable. read more

This has been a standard Bethesda bar for as long as I remember...at least 10-20 years. They have 2 floors and outside seating on both levels. It sometimes has that college bar feel. It's not fancy, but it is a fun place to hang out with friends and meet new ones. More relaxed, not pretentious. read more

Decent bar... Good bar food with healthy portions, the bartenders tend to have a heavy hand, which means that you get what you pay for with mixed drinks. The only drawback is that the crowd tends to be a bit more on the douche bag side. Go with a group of friends to enjoy the outdoor seating and strong drinks and you will always have a good time. read more
