TL/DR, food was only ok, service was attentive, but overall experience was disappointing. Selected "anniversary" on the Open Table reservation...and added in the notes that it was our 30th. Nonetheless, nobody said a word about either when we were greeted or seated. Sigh. When we ordered two glasses of champagne, the server asked if we were celebrating. Yes, we were...and were surprised nobody knew... Our meal was fine but only fine. Had the mushroom soup and endive salad, both specials, both pretty good (and the salad big enough to share). She ordered the salmon, I had the lamb shank (both on the menu). I like my food hot...and I am as a result confident that I have never written this before...the food came really hot. TOO hot. Inediblly hot. Both dishes, and especially the lamb. Once it cooled down enough to be edible, the lamb shank and basil whipped potatoes and vegetables were good (dried out a little from the heat?); the salmon was only ok and a little fishy tasting. Her glass of Pinot Grigio was quite nice; mine of Bordeaux was delicious, but served surprisingly warm for a restaurant/glass at this price point -- I'd have expected them to have a proper wine refrigerator. Then, finally... We asked about, and then decided not to have a dessert. The server was kind to bring us a well intentioned delivery of two glasses of prosecco (which we didn't drink --- had already had a champagne and a glass of wine) and asked if we'd like that dessert after all to have with it. We said "sure." They then charged us for the dessert... For the record, our server was kind and attentive and professional, and the rest of the team were equally so. But, in summary, for a pretty aggressive price point, this was a disappointing experience on a night we hoped would be special. Perhaps we're victims of a holiday weekend meal...we're hoping ours isn't a typical experience.

Both were outstanding & I'd order them again and again. The creme brulee was a fan favorite for dessert. I'd definitely host another event at Miramar - they make it smooth and comfortable!

My husband and I wanted a quick and good dinner one Sunday recently, and we picked Grill House after I read some good reviews on Yelp.  Although it's a casual, fast-food-style restaurant, the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a wide variety of healthy Greek dishes. It was definitely helpful to look over their menu online before we visited, because the menu board inside could be a bit overwhelming.  I guess I still looked quite confused when I saw 2 kiosks in front of the ordering counter.  A staff behind the counter offered to help, and I just ordered directly with him.  Later of the evening I discovered that he's the friendly owner Gus. After placing our order at the counter, we were given a table number, and our food was delivered promptly.  I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Plate ($17.50 at the time, it's now listed online for $18), while my husband ordered a Filet Mignon Souvlaki Plate ($25.50).  Each souvlaki plate included a soup or salad, rice and potato (1 piece), a side of veggies, and pita bread in a paper bag.  It was a generous amount of food! We both chose the lentil soup, which was served piping hot in a nice ceramic bowl with a lid. It was flavorful and comforting. My chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, never dry, and both the rice and potato were delicious. We were both impressed with the quality and value of the meal. I ordered a lemonade, which is considered a fountain drink ($4.00) and comes with free refills, though I couldn't even finish my first glass. My husband would have ordered a glass of wine if we hadn't had plans afterward, so we were happy to see that Grill House also serves beer and wine for a future visit. The service was another highlight. Everyone was warm and welcoming; a special shout-out to Kevin, who was very attentive and checked in on us several times.  When I was taking photos around the restaurant, the owner Gus greeted me again, which was a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself was bright, clean, and inviting. There's also a pleasant patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu.  I am glad that we finally gave Grill House a try!

We headed there for Happy Hour, which runs from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM and is definitely on the short side! We actually thought we'd be the only "early birders," but the bar area filled up surprisingly fast, so clearly this happy hour is popular with the locals. Sophia offers a fantastic $10 Happy Hour menu featuring cocktails, beer, wine, and five appetizers. Between the two of us, we ordered four of the five appetizers offered, and honestly, every single one was a hit. The Potato Croquettes were incredibly light and fluffy, the Ahi Tuna Crisp was absolutely delicious, and the Nashville Chicken Bites packed great flavor. The Meatball Sliders were another standout -- flavorful and juicy, and actually held together instead of falling apart after the first bite! To make the evening even more special, the bartender heard we were celebrating our anniversary and surprised us by comping a dessert: the Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding. Absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Even better, our total bill came in under $100! I chose to sit on the inside because I wanted a not because I wanted to feel the heat and humidity. Note that parking here is truly a challenge. You can valet for free or if you get here early enough as we had a 5 o'clock reservation we were able to find street parking and walked less than a block. The street parking also happened to be free, which was lucky. As you can imagine in Lake Forest, there is no residential street parking allowed Dinner itself was absolutely delicious!!! The food quality was delicious. Everything tasted incredible and just about everything got finished, but because we ordered too much food we are very happy to have some leftovers. We are also very lucky to be here on a Saturday night in order early enough to get the prime rib special because apparently they ran out at 6:30. I am definitely coming back here again whether it's a good occasion or not the food is fantastic!!! Our server, Noel was awesome!!!! The manager did actually forget to charge us for the bottle of wine which I did call out because I am an honest person and they added it to the bill. One disappointment of the evening is the fact that the desserts are covered in nuts and we have a nut allergy in our party. So we had to get a sundae, which was a little underwhelming as well as the Atlantic pie, which is basically a Keylime pie. The second disappointment was the side order of asparagus, which is awfully pricey and you only get six pieces you would assume that they would be generous with the truffle, but they're not. Wanting to ensure I could eat safely, I called ahead and spoke directly with the restaurant manager, who confidently assured me they could accommodate a celiac/ gluten-free diet and recommended arriving two hours before curtain time. The evening began smoothly in the dining room with their specialized prix fixe theater menu, and the server was wonderfully attentive from the moment we sat down. After I informed him of my celiac diagnosis, he clearly outlined my safe options and checked with the kitchen to confirm that the chopped salad starter and the vegan chicken enchiladas main course were completely gluten-free. While the salad was swimming in a bit too much dressing, both dishes tasted fantastic. Because the standard dessert options were off-limits for me, the kitchen went above and beyond to prepare a custom treat, surprising me with a rich and delicious flourless cake with pecans that rounded out the meal perfectly. I did order an Aperol spritz separately, which was not covered under the dinner package, but it was well worth it. Between the fantastic service, the peace of mind regarding cross-contamination, and the seamless transition from a relaxing meal right into a phenomenal show, it made for a fantastic celebration that we both thoroughly enjoyed.

Making reservations was easy through their website and making last minute changes was just as easy. Three Embers is located in the Marriott hotel. It was a larger, open space room with tables well spread apart and comfortable seating. We sat at a nice cozy table by the window. It was perfect for the 2 of us. I can imagine the view being stunning during the other seasons, but being January my view was of snow and more snow amid branches. We were quickly greeted by our server, Anna, who was warm and welcoming. We had bread and butter (delicious), served water right away, and another staff member switched out our table light for a brighter one that was fully powered. Anna took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. We started with the calamari which was delicious! It was perfectly fried with the calamari being nice and tender, complete with our favorite parts the tentacle ends, and well seasoned. Hubby ordered the porterhouse which as prepared spot on, medium rare! The fingerling potatoes were SO DELICIOUS!!! They were crispy, fluffy, tender, and such a good accompaniment to the steak! Honestly as a carb lover, I'd be happy with just a big plate of the crispy fingerling potatoes. The carrots were sweet and prepared just enough to be tender, but with a crunch. He appreciated that it wasn't boiled or steamed to death carrots. I ordered the Black and Bleu salad. It was a large portion salad, perfect for dinner without being heavy. The steak was prepared a medium rare and topped with delicate crispy fried onion strings. Everything in the salad worked so well together making it a nice cohesive entree. The really enjoyed the grilled corn in the salad! The dressing was a light dressing and had a hint of sweetness, but not overpowering the flavors. Unfortunately my steak was a bit on the fatty and gristly side so quite a bit had to be discarded. This was the downside to the salad. Overall, the meal exceeded our expectations and didn't fit into what some would think of as "hotel restaurant food." The prices are on the higher side, but for some of the conveniences and location, it was worth it. The service was wonderful! Anna was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and so sweet! We never felt rushed. She checked back after serving us each course to make sure everything was good and had perfect timing sensing when we needed our check to make the show. I can see why other Yelpers rave about having her as their server! I would certainly come back to Three Embers for dinner before a show. Parking was easy as we were there before the show, parked at the hotel and entered through the hotel. We walked from the restaurant to the theatre without ever having to step foot outside in the freezing single-digit temps.
