My boyfriend and I went to dinner here a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, but I left hungry after paying $13 for an entree with no meat. I had the ginger stir fry and my date had the enchiladas. I thought both were good but he didn't care for his dinner. Service was just 'meh', nothing to complain about but if the service had been stellar we'd probably give the cafe another chance. The portions are very small, but delicious. It's incredibly overpriced. It always takes a long time to get your food, even if you're the only table in the restaurant. The staff is friendly. The ambiance is nice. They have more gluten free and vegan options than most places in Marquette. That being said, many items say "can be made vegan" but I think it's misleading to put a V next to a menu item like a cow burger because once you make it vegan all you're left with is lettuce and tomato on a bun for the same price...They don't offer vegan cheese or plant meats like seitan. read more

1st time. Walked in at 6:30PM Friday nite for dinner, and no problem getting a table. Fabulous menu, but every dish was terrible. Service was similar. Poor. We will not be returning. It's a shame, as the menu all sounded great but food quality and prep did not deliver. Perhaps breakfast is better, but not worth giving it another try. read more

Thank goodness for cafe bodega. I frequent this place thanks to their vegan options! I love the orbit pesto burger made vegan with bodega fries and a side of tahini sauce. I could put their tahini sauce on anything, it's that good! I also enjoy a mimosa sunrise on the weekend, it's so crisp and refreshing. My girlfriend likes the mole enchiladas and the chorizo based tacos. My mom is a very picky eater and enjoys their soups and tahini sauce as well ! read more

Our 2 pm lunch was extraordinary. The place was empty and our waitress was solicitous. The BLT is complicated, with so many layers of flavor that each bite was a delight. The whitefish tacos are clean and fresh. The prices are normal for a nice cafe. read more

Wanted to like this place, but I just can't overlook all of the mistakes we encountered. We came for dinner, so I can't speak for breakfast, but our experience was poor for the price tag. We came here because we have some dietary restrictions and this looked more promising than most places in town. Our drinks were fine, not anything special, but my fiancé was charged extra for normal ice in his whiskey on the rocks. One of our glasses was dirty. We ordered a chicken quesadilla on corn tortillas, which they incorrectly made the first time on flour tortillas and then when we did get them they did not have the chicken like we had requested. I had asked for a regular burger, with all of the fixings, adding an egg and without the bun for dietary reasons, but received a burger with just cheese on regular bread. It was disappointing at best. My fiancé got the whitefish and with all of the pesto (which was fresh) you could almost not taste how blah the fish was. For the price tag this was a disappointment. Mostly kitchen mistakes, so we can't fault our server, who was very sweet, but we won't be returning. read more

Stumbled across this place while in town for a beer festival - absolutely amazing food, good service, and awesome coffee. We loved it so much we came back for breakfast the next day! Some of the worst service I've ever had. I came in and waited more than 10 before having to wave down a member of the wait staff and ask if I could bother them for a menu and possibly something to drink. This person acted as if I was completely inconveniencing her. It was not busy. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla witch wasn't bad but was served to me without silverware. Very disappointing. Ordered pancakes, bacon, and fruit for breakfast and, 45+ minutes later as a cool party of 1, I have 3 flimsy, soggy and irregular pancakes (the last one counts as a 1/3 pancake since it was so small), a cup of obviously not fresh fruit (is this going to make me sick?), and 3 slices of atrophied bacon in front of me. And this costs, with tip, $22. Nah, avoid this place. read more

We were seated quickly, but had to wait 45 minuets AFTER ordering for our food to arrive. When we asked about our order after 30 minuets we were treated to that old restaurant favorite, "the kitchen got slammed..yada, yada, yada". This excuse translates to..we are a poorly managed place, who didn't put enough staff on or have incompetent folks in the back we pay dirt wages, therefore they are on one speed...SLOW! WAKE UP THERE BODEGA, how you think we're feeling after this loooong unacceptable wait? Swallowing frustration with each bite of your over priced grilled cheese with pesto and fries ($13.09). Ordered the beet salad "to go", with white fish added. I wanted a double portion of the fish, which the cafe accommodated, but I ended up with a $25 salad that was just ok. There were only two beets (cut into wedges), and not much else to recommend this rather expensive meal. read more

We had to wait over an hour for two simple lunch orders. After about 30 minutes, the server said it would be 10 minutes but it was actually 30. The place wasn't crowded and the server said something about 4 people called in but they seemed to have a lot of serving staff. We assume the problem was in the kitchen. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Great food, great service. I like breakfast for dinner. They now offer all day breakfast. I get an omelette with Muenster cheese, bell peppers, avocado, basil. They are always accommodating to my gluten allergy. For dinner I always get the nachos with a Trinidad sour mix drink. read more

i've heard so many great things about this restaurant but upon eating there it is safe to say i'm HIGHLY disappointed. i went there with three other people and between all of us, we had pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and their club sandwich. the food was straight up not good. the only reason we ate it was because we were starving after waiting an hour for a table. their ranch was watery, sprite was flat, pancakes were terribly bland (also cooked in bacon grease???), the biscuits and gravy were dry, the sandwich had way too thick of bread and was made with mediocre ingredients. the water glasses were literally the size of shot glasses and constantly had to be refilled. i wish i could at least say the service was good but we had to wait 30 minutes for the bill to come after we finished eating. it's like our waiter disappeared??? i've worked in a restaurant for the past few years so i understand what goes on behind the scenes and what good service is, let me just say this was nowhere near what it should have been. trust me when i say there are better places to eat in marquette!!!!! read more

We had 8 of us adults for dinner. We all enjoyed our dinners. Everyone got plenty to eat. It use to be the Sweetwater. Recently new owners and redecorated inside. The feel is warm and cozy. Our table shared whitefish bites to start. Two of us split the beet salad. Nice fresh dark greens, plenty of beets and right amount of dressing. There was enough to pass around as we also ordered dinner entrees. I had the pasta special that nite with fresh veggies and mushrooms and added chicken to it. Not over sauced and just right. Very good. The other entrees served were the fresh whitefish (you can choose from 3 choices how you would like it prepared), ginger stir-fry, chicken mole. I can't remember the others but all had very good meals and we had excellent service. The only glitch was it was a bit too long wait between salad and entrees. Bodega has a great menu for those that are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. They also serve their breakfast and lunch menu in the evening. I would eat here again. Reasonably priced. read more
