If you're looking for Puerto Rican food and in the area, it's a decent spot which is why it gets 4 stars. The Jibaritos were tasty and so was the arroz con gandules! I think the restaurant is a unique concept: it's a combination of a small Christian book store and a home-like cafe combined with a Puerto Rican restaurant. The menu is small. The servers are kind and bring the food quickly.

It wasn't a negative experience. Per se. It looked like the owner was pretty chill about it. And I get it---ppl can be rude, I'm sure. Having to take an order while someone is on the phone is annoying. But it's also strange to police people's behavior to that extent. So anyway, I got my coffee and decided against getting food. My friend and I decided to try a cup of their coffee, and we split several pastries to try together. OH MY GOD. We couldn't stop talking about the pastel de nata de chocolate! It was the most perfect custardy, chocolaty, melt-in-your-mouth, pastry! The seasonal coffees were equally dreamy. It was one of our favorite stops on the crawl, and we cant wait to come back for a coffee date! I only wish they were here when I lived just a few feet away a few years back!

Overall, this is a very solid neighborhood coffee shop and one I'd happily return to. The ambiance is a cozy cool coffee shop with touches of combo road bike and auto racing highlights. The car panel coffee table with stripe graphics is a great idea! What I found funny was my beans came with cheese...really, they couldn't have just tossed some over my chilaquiles!‍. My sister liked her poblano chilaquiles, which were good and mom had mole enchiladas, which she enjoyed. But the overall star of the meal were the strawberry pancakes we got for dessert! They were absolutely delicious! They came with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a side of strawberry sauce (more of a coulis sauce) that tasted homemade. We didn't even ask for syrup, that's how good they were (reminded us of true Mexican pancakes...IYKYK). In spite of the businesses of the day, our waitress was attentive and nice. I'll go back, but will try something else and definitely get the pancakes for dessert! Another note to be aware of, they don't have a waiting area, so if someone in your party can't stand for long periods, like my mom, take that into consideration before going on a busy day (like Mother's Day). When we did ask, the guy taking down the reservations said "you can wait in the car" with a bit of nastiness and smirk...unnecessary attitude. He might have not meant it that way since they do text when your reservation is ready, but he needs to work on sounding like an a-hole and could have said "I'm soo sorry we do not, but please feel free to wait in your car since we will text when your reservation is ready" in a compassionate tone, or something to that extent. La Catedral management, please work on that!
