We had a reservation at this restaurant on a rainy Sunday evening and were not expecting a full house. Walked in and the place was packed! We were told that it would be a bit of a wait to get seated. But since they had outdoor seating, we decided to just go for that. It was actually a better choice as it was calmer, less crowded, well lit, covered and spacious. Our servers were very pleasant, professional and attentive. We were pleasantly surprised that our food came out pretty quickly. We were very impressed with the food. Good portion and the flavors were on point. For starters, we enjoyed the delicious bread dipping oil. The calamari fritti appetizer was so good! It was lightly battered, crispy on the outside, fresh and tender on the inside. The Tortellini alla Michelangelo, Linguine con vongole o cozze were excellent! We ended the meal with a couple of delicious desserts... the tiramisu and chocolate mousse. We had a very pleasant dining experience and will definitely be back next time we're in town. read more

Food - Good quality, but tiny portions. Be prepared to leave hungry, the size of the veal is very very small. And of course it's very expensive. For such a price for a small amount of food, everything should be good. However the steamed vegetables that came with it were bland, and the mashed potatoes had a weird texture. However the veal itself was very good. The desert was a rip off. Almost $10 for a scoop of ice cream. Skip dessert. Service - Honestly it was not great. Took a while to get water, and not many refills. Servers didn't check in on us much. Other than that the restaurant was easy to carry a conversation in, not too loud and the location is good. We decided to have a family dinner at Cafe Figaro celebrating 3 birthdays! I did put in a request when I made the reservation. And it was mentioned while we were talking to the waiter. Though sadly, nothing was done for our birthdays. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable. And suitable for families and date nights for couples. It's a tablecloth kind of place, yet there's a laid-back atmosphere. We started off with calamari fritti and carpaccio di manzo. Both appetizers were tasty. As for entrees, 2 ordered linguine con vongole and 2 ordered petrale sole. Then there was a rigatoni alla vodka and a vitello al funghi e marsala (veal marsala). To be honest, portions aren't big and there was nothing left to take home. We even had room for a chocolate mousse and crème brûlée to share. The food is good and flavorful. Desserts were perfect and lightly sweetened. Just so you know, pastas are not house-made, though prices reflect that and are reasonable. We were told they have 2 other restaurants. One is in South San Francisco (Andiamo In Banca) and the other is in Mountain View (don't recall the name). We've been to Andiamo in Banca and their food is similar. All in all, we had a good time and the food was delicious. It would have been nice if they had just added a candle on the desserts for the birthdays. The lavender spritz was excellent and I would have had another if we weren't so full! We got complimentary bread with oil and vinegar. We made a reservation for lunch on a weekday since it's a rather large group with 10ish people and there aren't tons of seatings. It's a very cute Italian restaurant with yummy food. There are outdoor seating available still. We were seated right away and they weren't busy the day we went. The service was great and food came out pretty fast. Bread was good too. The appetizers we tried were calamari, bruschetta and burrata appetizer special. They were all delicious. The linguini vongole and ciopino are both great, I was expecting the portion to be bigger based on the price. Overall, good experience, but a little on the pricey end. read more

The food is quite good, we enjoyed the risotto, and gnocchi, and appetizer of fried calamari, the grilled scallops were quite small but tasty, other items well portioned, making reservations is the best option it does get busy, I've noticed on this 4th visit quite of few regulars and they have the better spots, they have tables and booths, the booth in the back is reserved for a regular so forget about getting that booth, the service is great except the cleaner the one who removes the extra plates and silver, a Middle Eastern man who rather seeming gives commands to past unused plates and silverware, I guess the word please is not in his vocabulary sort pissed me off commanding my wife, I wish I was quick with a reply but we were leaving, but simply a rude man which distracted from the dinning experience everything was fine our server was good and quick, just watch out for this cleaner and keep your utensils and plates close until you are finish with your meal. read more

Our family had its first meal at Cafe Figaro Friday evening. From start to finish the service, food and ambiance were terrific. Two of us were a bit early - actually prior to opening - yet we were invited to sit at the bar and offered a drink while we waited for the rest of our party. The cafe is quite small but the owners were able to comfortably fit in a very well stocked bar. As the restaurant filled the maitre-d' saved the booth we requested upon our entrance. Absolutely incredible! Had the absolute best dinner at Cafe Figaro on New Year's Eve. I ordered the short ribs with polenta and I've been thinking about this dish ever since. The short ribs were mouth watering deelish and very tender! My first visit here was about 20+ years ago. I recall I loved it back then but never managed to return. My second visit was just this past December to celebrate my birthday. My best friend dines here with her family frequently so when she asked me to choose a place to treat me for my birthday, I chose to celebrate here. I ordered pasta with clams and it was perfect. It was so delish, that when New Year's Eve came I knew this was the place I wanted to dine at! The restaurant is very charming-love, love the ambiance. And the food, oh the food...absolutely deelish! I visited Café Figaro for dinner Sunday evening. There were three of us, and we were celebrating my nephew's birthday on our way to SFO. We were greeted in a very friendly manner as we entered the restaurant, which is a small space with a cozy neighborhood feel to it. At 5:45 pm, it was almost full. It wasn't noisy but the energy was great, with lots of laughter and a general sense of relaxation coming from other diners. The server brought menus, water, bread and told us about the specials. They were attentive and helpful when I asked about whether they could accommodate my food allergy. All their sauces are made when ordered, so they had no problem with my requests. They had a sommelier to answer my nephew's questions about a wine to go with his pasta dish. We enjoyed the veal Marsala, pasta with pesto, and squash ravioli (house made with an amazing sage butter sauce). The wine list is extensive and there are a good number of wines by the glass. We didn't have time for appetizers or desserts but that's just another reason to return, which I would do without hesitation. The proximity to SFO made it a perfect spot for a pre-flight visit. read more

I had a birthday celebration here (party of 12). The place was nice but a bit cramped. Our reservation was at 5pm so there was still a lot of room in the beginning but the place filled up quickly. Which is good because I feel that it's a testament to their food. We ordered burrata with grilled peach and prosciutto which was one of their specials. It was delicious! The cheese was not overwhelmingly salty and the peaches' sweetness balances out the salt in the prosciutto. Of course we had many servings of the complimentary bread with the olive oil and vinaigrette dip. I ordered the fettucine All'Adriataca which is pasta in creamy garlic, sun dried tomato and white cream sauce with rick shrimp and scallops., Four people in our party ordered the same and we all loved it! Service was really good as well. They continuously filled up our water glasses and cleaned up the dishes for the next course. I found my new pasta spot! I'm here in northern California for a day trip and walk around this place 8 PM, checking out the menu from the outside. And I'm greeted with such an incredibly warm invitation inside and simply can't refuse. The service is top tier. They're so caring and friendly and you really feel like you're friends with the waiters. The food was absolutely amazing for the price. The portions are just right, not too salty, not too bland. Just a little bit of the freshly ground pepper they provide and you're all set. Don't even get me started on the atmosphere, the cleanliness, silverware, glasses, and everything. There's such a cute and compact, aesthetic bar with everything you'd want to drink. The lighting makes the place so romantic and I swear it made the food taste even better. I have found my new Italian spot in Burlingame. Walking down Broadway and indecisive about where to eat lunch, we finally ended up here at Cafe Figaro for our first visit. It did not disappoint. We were greeted by Will who made the afternoon meal that much more special with his joyful personality. The food came out quick and nice and hot, not to mention absolutely delicious. My wife and I decided to split the Eggplant Parmesan along with an arugula salad. Both were very tasty. Really glad we made this choice. My daughters enjoyed the bruschetta and the spaghetti bolognese. They ate it all up. The decor was nice as well, giving that Italy feel. I'll start with the good things here. The ambience is adorable. Very romantic and intimate feel. The servers are all very nice. And the Burrata and prosciutto appetizer was delicious! Definitely the highlight of the meal. They also had a nice wine selection. I got the seafood risotto. The salmon and shrimp were overcooked which I expected. The thing I didn't enjoy about the dish though was that it just tasted like they put a can of tomato paste into rice and cooked it. I couldn't taste any other flavors in the rice. It did taste better the next day though! My fiance got one of the chicken dishes with rice. It was ok. The chicken was overcooked on this one. For dessert we had the chocolate mouse (he liked it) and bread pudding. Good classic desserts done well. They were more comforting than exciting but sometimes that's a good thing. Not sure we'd try this one again with so many Italian options nearby but I can also see why some people really like it. read more

When we first saw the tiny wooden bar to the right of the entrance, we weren't sure we'd made the right choice with our reservation, but once we were seated and perused the wonderfully traditional Italian menu and extensively stocked bar, we were happy we'd taken the chance. We split the gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce and had saltimbocca and cioppino entrees. But the best part were the cocktails - we asked the bartender for his favorite to make and he offered up a tasty paper plane and a lovely white Negroni. The place was bustling and parties stacked up behind us as they waited for tables to turn over, but we never felt rushed and though it was full and lovely, it was never too loud. Such a yummy cute Italian place! My friend and I came here a while ago and loved it so much I recently had to look for the place again so I could review it! We sat in the outdoor area which they made very cute and cozy. It's one of those fenced off portions on the street but they put down turf and ambient lighting and furniture so it's very homey! We got some glasses of wine and calamari to share. I can't remember what we got for entrees but remember it was delicious!! It seemed like the restaurant was family owned. This is a cute place. We went there for dinner on a Tuesday and it was pretty full, but had room for the two of us. The service was good. The food came out a little slowly for me, but I was hungry. They had the most wonderful bread with a great crunchy crust ( my favorite) served with an olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and herbs (fresh basil and thyme?) mix that made the bread even better. We started with a caprese salad. I would not recommend this because the beefsteak tomatoes weren't very good, but they usually aren't, especially in winter. The fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil were good, especially with a drizzle of the oil mixture. Then they brought our entrees-the smell was amazing. I had fettuccine with a cream sauce, scallops and shrimp. The pasta itself was a delight and the seafood cooked perfectly. I wasn't crazy about the fresh tomatoes-I found them a bit sour, but my husband loved them and the sun-dried tomatoes were tasty. It was delicious and my son loved the left overs. My husband got the steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The potatoes were good, I found the veggies just a tad too cooked, but still delicious. The steak and its sauce were so very delicious-don't think I've ever tasted a better one. My husband loved it. He had a glass of red wine which was a perfect foil to the richness of my pasta and was wonderful with the steak. We had their tiramisu for dessert-so light and flavorful. My husband asked if we should save a bit for our son- no way, it was too good. Their espresso machine wasn't working, but my husband said their regular coffee was so good it didn't matter-and he drinks it black. The menu has so many items that sounded delicious, so if our choices aren't for you there are many others. read more
