Not only does this restaurant provides futures for underprivileged youths, they provide this delicious combination of flavors. The Donny in the back & the Cafe Hope burger upfront. The Donny is a chicken parm on homemade focaccia bread!!!! You guys go support them! @phidingthefam

This place can be hard to find if you are not too familiar with the area, but once you find it, it is so cute and worth it. The glass windows overlook the gulf course. It is one of the prettier places for brunch on the Westbank for sure. The service here is a little strange but the workers there are really nice. Just make sure to bring some patience, you are supporting a good cause. I got the shrimp and grits and the gumbo. I thought the gumbo was a little salty for me since it didn't come with any rice like the other places. The potato salad in the gumbo was pretty different and that helped offset a little of the salty flavors. If you like creamy shrimp and grits, you would love this version. The sauce was rich and flavorful. The creamy cheese grits and the fresh juicy shrimp added a decadent punch to the meal. I would like to go back to try the lunch menu that they offer.

First I must state I love the mission of this place. Helping at risk young adults get training in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Now my review: I had the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and the gumbo. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS. Everything about this dish was done right. The grits and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The andouille sausage was the perfect compliment to this dish. I have nothing negative to say about this dish. The shrimp gumbo was really good also. I recommend this place without a doubt. This is not restaurant fast food, this is delicious take your time and enjoy the flavor experience food. Great food and service. Without a doubt I'll be back. Even if I have to drive all the way from Lafayette to enjoy this great food with a purpose.

Food was good, had the brunch burger. It came out fresh including the perfect French fries. It's a little pricy but is a great treat. I haven't tried the normal lunch menu. I recomend not getting the water. It tasted like tap water. Also the service was okay, nothing special. I do want to come back and try the lunch menu.

Café Hope is such an amazing place. Not only is it a restaurant, but it's a program designed to train young people between ages 16 and 24 in the restaurant business. They are trained in every aspect of the restaurant from the garden to the kitchen to the dining room. They then go on to a job at another restaurant. It's a really incredible program. I have been to Café Hope twice. The first time I sampled a little bit of the entire menu and the second time was a typical dining experience. This review is of the second time I went, but if you are curious about any of the other food I tried (see pictures) feel free to ask. My dad and I stopped in here because, although I had been here for a sampling, I had yet to try the shrimp and grits, so that's what I got. I have been on a real grits kick lately and I have no idea why. If I go to a place and grits are on the menu, they are a "go" for me. I also got a side of potato salad, because during my sampling I loved it! The shrimp and grits came and they looked so good! There was a good amount of shrimp served on top of yummy, creamy grits. I added a little hot sauce and this just put the entire dish over the top. It was amazing! My potato salad was delicious, of course. The potato salad here is diced potatoes with a nice dressing mixed into it, so it isn't heavy at all. The menu does tend to change a bit, but I found that it's eclectic enough that anyone is sure to find something that they will enjoy and there is even a kid's menu, so be sure to bring them along as well. Lunch is served at the restaurant, Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 2pm. There is also dinner on Fridays from 6 to 9. I will absolutely return to Cafe Hope and support this amazing restaurant. A meal here is one you can really feel good about.

Love this place. Very clean Nice and quite. The freshly squeezed Leamonade was so good. Best fresh food I had in a long time.

Back again but I want to give some constructive criticism so that you guys can improve. The service- it is soooooooo slow. I know it's a training program and I'm all for that but you really need to train on attentiveness and promptness. It's waaaay too laid back and I'm decently chill when it comes to understanding that waiters are overwhelmed. However, when you only have 1 table in the whole place- I shouldn't have to wait 15 min to get my coffee. Then another 5 to get the creamer. Then gotta go back for the sugar. Then get entrees out at separate times (like 10 minute difference). Then ask for syrup for pancakes and still don't have the syrup 10 minutes later. Just give a larger portion of syrup y'all. 1 oz is not gonna do it for 4 pancakes :) simple things like just keeping the sugar on the table or holding food on the warmer until everyone's is ready will go a long way. The food is outstanding as always :)

This little gem! I can't believe I have never tried this place before today. The brunch burger was amazing and the the shrimp and grits was cooked perfectly.

This is such a great dining experience on so many levels. First of all, the food is wonderful. It's a rotating, seasonal, local menu of Louisiana classics done in new ways. The place itself is beautiful, set in an old chapel with shady courtyards. Finally, all "employees" are at-risk teens learning career skills and completing their education. If you're in the area and have the envie for a fabulous lunch, definitely stop by!!

What a wonderful find. Thanks, Yelp! If you're looking for an inexpensive but delicious lunch, take a trip out to Cafe Hope. The setting is charming, the food good, the price right, and the staff very friendly. Google the restaurant first, so you know the "why" of the restaurant, and you'll enjoy it more.

The food is fantastic for lunch, and better yet, when you go there, you're helping out a great cause. It is also really affordable. I love the mac 'n cheese and the bread pudding, but everything I've had on the menu is tasty.

From the moment we arrived, the food, service, and ambiance were absolutely outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The portions are generous one of my sisters ordered a salad that was so large she had plenty left to take home for her husband. My other sister ordered the breakfast croissant, and I had the smash burger, which practically melted in my mouth. Of course, we had to save room for dessert! We shared the vanilla bean crème brûlée and the beignet fries, and both were absolutely delicious. If you enjoy a good cocktail, you'll love their drink menu too the cocktails are amazing, and the prices are just as impressive. What really set this restaurant apart, though, was the customer service. I had a small issue with my debit card, and the owner personally called me afterward to make sure everything had been taken care of. That level of care and attention is rare and speaks volumes about how much they value their customers. Brown Butter Depot has definitely earned a spot on my list of repeat visits. If you're visiting New Orleans, don't miss this hidden gem in Gretna. I gave them five stars, but honestly, they deserve ten!

Comfortable but classy atmosphere, with football on the TV in the dining room. (Welcome to Louisiana!) Owner took our drink and food orders (we were ready! - we had already previewed the menu on Yelp) and everything was delivered quickly. Husband had the Smokey Mountain Burger ($16), medium, with fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was so good! I'm not a big burger fan, but it was cooked just right and had plenty of flavor. I opted for the Thai riblets app ($14) which was served with a small side of their slaw and the "fried" Brussel sprouts app ($10). O...M...G! The sprouts came with a side dressing of mayo/lemon/garlic (?), of which I was not a fan; eat them plain - you'll be glad you did. Slaw was great - not too much mayonnaise - but I scraped off the seasoning topping because it was too salty for me. Thai riblets were fall-off-the-bone good without being over seasoned/sauced. We finished my husband's burger then took my leftovers home. They reheated very well. It's not the cheapest place, but we felt like we got our money's worth from our meal and would totally return. There's some other things on that menu calling our names. :)

This has been a go-to for us for years every time we came home. And we were very hungry of course so let's see how things went. Once we unpacked and rested for a bit, we went online to check out their menu. For our orders, we usually selected their seafood platters which are reasonably priced. Their drive-thru system is pretty good for pickup orders which can get backed up once in a while. But no worries here for us. My selection was the any two choices platter which were thin fried catfish and soft shell crab. Everything was good and well seasoned. The only setback was they didn't have enough fries in the box. Normally, their to-go orders would have plentiful fries or other sides to your liking. But not this one. Other than that, I was full with my order. We'll continue to use New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood the next time we come home :)

So we went outside of the city and located this place for breakfast that turned into lunch. I wanted to try the King Cake daiquiri but it wasn't frozen enough and what they let me sample tasted terrible. I ordered the two meats or proteins plate with the garlic butter fries and slaw. My two proteins were the thick fried catfish and fried frog legs. Also, the plate comes with two hush puppies. I also got the fried green tomatoes. The fish was fresh and frog legs were fresh and the fried tomatoes were fresh the slaw and hush puppies were crispy and fresh. The service was kind and professional. Service was not long there was confusion one side of restaurant was sit down and the servers take your orders. The other side was place your order at the counter and get a seat/table and the server brings the food to the table. There restaurateurs seemed like family and friends and longtime patrons. We got fountain drinks (sweet tea, soda, water). I recommend if not use to butter garlic fries get it on the side. It was ok for me but my friends didn't like it. It tastes like onion sour cream potato chips.
