They have great food, great drinks, and it is a cute little coffee shop. My only complaint is that two times now I've stopped in for lunch and the kitchen was closed. If you are going to stop serving food at strange times and strange days, make a note of it on your website. Or have a sign. Decided to try this place out based on reviews. Reminded me of some of the cafes I've been to in Portland. Got a Lox bagel, hubby got a tuna melt. Service was a little slow, food was decent, but what turned me off more than anything was how loud it was inside. It was maybe half full and I honestly could not hear most of what my husband was saying. We had a silent breakfast because it took too much effort to yell over the noise. Not a place to catch up with anyone or have a good conversation if you are sitting inside. $21 for two bagels and coffee/OJ is steep so this won't be a regular spot. I really enjoy coming here for coffee. The atmosphere is cool, the art they showcase is usually interesting and the coffee is great. However, it's always a crapshoot when ordering food. I've eaten here a handful of times and the food is mostly decent. In the past, though, I've ordered and never received my food until I went back to the counter to tell them my order again because they never made it. That's happened twice. Today, I didn't get what I ordered and what was served to me was not appetizing and definitely not worth the price of the sandwich. I ordered a turkey sandwich that they keep in the case by the register and they said they would bring it out to me. About ten minutes later, they bring out a toasted sandwich with one slice of turkey, one slice of cheese and soggy lettuce. As a result, I just went across the street for pizza. I would come back to get coffee, but I'll never order food again. It's just not worth the aggravation of wondering if I'll get what I ordered. read more

I dropped my entire coffee outside of the café as soon as I walked out. They were kind enough to make me another one free of charge without me even asking. And one of the best Chai teas I've had in a long time. Sad that one got wasted :) Great spot! Thank you! read more

My husband and I absolutely love Seven Stones. We go there every weekend for breakfast. They serve our favorite coffee, La Colombe. The waitstaff are great. Since we are regulars they usually remember what we like which we enjoy. Love their veggie cream cheese. When my husband can't decide what to eat he just asks Natalie to fix something for him and its always delicious. Great to go after dinner as well for coffee and dessert. They have the best chocolate cake and apple crumb cake. Perfect little coffee shop. read more

Five stars for Seven Stones! This place is so lovely. My go-to beverage is the Harmony Latte- a coffee and chai tea latte with honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. It tastes like a perfectly toasted marshmallow. I always get my coffee to go but the dining area is very quaint. The food, especially the baked goods look delicious, although I have not yet tried anything edible. read more

I love this place! I've been a few times just to get coffee and tea and it's always good. Went for lunch once and it was tasty! Seems like a good place to have lunch and catch up with a friend or to sip coffee and work remotely. I'll be back to try other items on the menu as they have a lot of yummy looking things! read more

There are few vegan options in Media for brunch, but I've always liked the food at Seven Stones and baked food options that favor vegan opportunities. This morning the cafe was crowded but that's typical. When we got in line there were 5 customers in front of us but soon a long line accumulated behind us spilling outside. The workers were having difficulty with their POS system not connecting to the kitchen with orders, but took our order on paper, so I confirmed our order was written correctly. I ordered a black bean veggie burger no cheese and my son ordered a Macchiato. After 45 minutes I changed the order to go as my son had to go to work. After another 10 minutes I asked about the progress and was told our order would be next - mind you 5 customers were ahead of us in line. I asked if the order was already started as I may have to get a refund as we had run out of time. The cashier said there was a 45 minute wait time when we got in line. There was no explanation on how the customer would know that, nor any mention when the order was placed, but from the attitude there was an expectation that I should have known that as the 5th customer in line. The workers could learn a great deal on how to manage crowds, fix their POS system which does not support the volume they routinely get, training on how to handle customer service, and a more efficient way to process orders, which in the end would benefit the store financially. We finally got the to go order. My son received a cappuccino not a Macchiato. After getting home to sit down and enjoy my sandwich, I opened it and it was full of cheese : ( read more

I love this little place for their small amount of vegetarian/vegan options but the place is severely overpriced for the meals they make. The atmosphere is cozy and is a great place to spend time with friends. The staff is not the friendliest but the food/drinks make up for it. Highly recommend the tuna melt, tomato and corn soup, and their smoothies! read more

A friend told me about Seven Stones and I was amazed I had never been there before. It's hidden in the back of State Street but is a nice place to stop for coffee or a light breakfast...has a very creative menu and occasionally you can hear some live music in the courtyard. That's a nice touch you won't find at Starbucks! read more

Good food, very filling and a nice selection. I wish the service was a little better/more friendly, that's all that prevented my five stars!

The staff was a little snooty, but with the delicious Lox bagel I had, I do not mind. I had it on a gluten free "everything bagel," don't ask the woman behind the counter what is in the everything bagel unless you want a hard stare down. Regardless, it was delicious. Both my husband and my friend really liked their breakfast bagel sandwiches too (a standard Lox, and Santa Fe I think). The place seemed a little dirty in the corner where we sat, and a little run down, but nothing that would keep me from going back. read more

Love, love, love the food, coffee, and chill ambiance. Great place to sit back enjoy your food, read, etc. The only downfall is that sometimes there is a little bit of a pretentious vibe going on but if you're like me and think people that are "too cool" are ridiculous and fun to laugh at then it's not really a problem. read more

Disappointing. They do have potential but don't seem to care. First, they put some sort of spices on everything. I had gone there several times and had an allergic reaction--trying different items each time figuring it was something that I ordered. I had asked numerous times what was in the food only to be told, "nothing." Finally, when I pinpointed the issue myself, I let them know, and they said, "Oh, we put that on everything!" Yes, I found that out. Unfortunately every time I've tried to go back, they seem to mock as opposed to being understanding that people might have allergies (actually, I do not normally have food allergies at all so I can't imagine what someone with other allergies might go through regularly). They also don't take direction well at all. The first time I got a tuna melt there, it was quite good. The next time, it was burnt. I had toyed with the idea of trying to eat it and actually began trying to cut it (to not avail as the bagel was rock-hard). I took it to the counter and asked for it to be remade. They gave me another, raw this time, but with the re-used, tuna with now extra burnt, greasy cheese. I took that back too. I've tried to like it there. The food can be good. One of the girls who works behind the counter seems to care (dark haired girl with nice smile), but the rest--not so much. Today I asked for a tuna melt and asked that the tomatoes be grilled--I don't like them raw and when I make my own at home, the tomatoes cook slightly when melting the cheese. (The first time I went there that happened as well--not since however). We waited for 35 minutes for our order and finally when my fiance' inquired as to whether they'd forgotten us, they said, "well you asked for the tomatoes to be extra grilled, so that is what is taking so long." Are you serious? How does one say that to a customer with a straight face? Needless to say, they were not even extra grilled so next time spare me the lame excuses. They try to have a hipster vibe but with pretentious prices. The coffee is good--sometimes. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places to go in Media, so I guess in comparison, people actually think this place is good. As I said, it's got potential, but right now...needs work. read more

I really want to like this place. It's cute, I love the atmosphere and the descriptions of everything makes the food sound so good, and I like that it's an independent cafe. Too often, though, I am disappointed. When I go, I'm often with 2 or 3 people, and at least half the number of times I've been there, one of the coffee orders is wrong (i.e., a vanilla latte with no vanilla, for example). That happened again today. Also the pastries and desserts often look wonderful, but upon trying them I find they are stale or have clearly seen better days. Today there were slices of chocolate chip cheesecake in the case that clearly had a hard/dried crust over the sides. Not good. Finally, the staff is not overly friendly. I will say, however, that the few times I've gotten a fresh sandwhich it was ok... but not a lot more than ok. I think it's time for me to find a new coffee place in Media. read more

I enjoyed Seven Stones Cafe very much until last spring. What turned me off had nothing to do with bad food or a rude waitress. My mother, sister and I take part in The Great American Bake Sale every year. We throw our own little bake sale in Media to help raise money for the charity. On the day of our sale in April 2011 we had set up our tables and business was good. Then an older gentleman and young lady approached us and asked to see out permit. My sister showed it to them and started to explain what we were raising money for. Before she could finish the man cut her off by saying that he could not believe that the borough of Media would allow for us to sell baked good between two bakeries. They then asked us when we would be done and briefly complained to each other that we were taking business away from them. My sister and I were upset but held our tongues because we are not ones to start an argument with a stranger. We later found out that the two who approached us and complained that we were taking business away from them were the owners of Seven Stones. I could not believe that a place that seems so community involved would be upset about us selling cookies to raise money to end child hood hunger. This experience just put a bad taste in my mouth. It is sad that this place that seemed so cool and community conscience would be owned by such greedy people. read more
