We arrived at Ashley's just around 5 on a Sunday and even though there was a wait it wasn't too long before our name was called. Our waitress Kelli was right over to take our drink order. Unfortunately once she returned she had a list of items they were out of, chicken parm being one of them and sadly what hubs was going to order. They offer an extensive menu with entrees, sandwiches, burgers and even flatbreads so a short moment was needed to rethink our meal. Opting for stuffed chicken (me) and hot turkey dinner (he) both with house made stuffing and accompanied by home made mashed with gravy. These meals felt like home. So much so that I didn't even take pictures! As the primary cook in the household it is nice to have a home cooked meal that I didn't cook myself. Something about it just tastes better. This is the feeling eating at Ashley's gave me. In addition to a whole full service bar with live music, Ashley's has a separate dining door with a salad bar that runs almost the full length. Packed full of any salad topping you can think of. In addition to the salad bar regulars you will find blue cheese, radishes, chick peas, mushrooms, peas, multiple salads, jalapeños marinated cheese, raisins, craisins, tortilla strips and also... hot bacon dressing. As much as I wanted to try, I passed and stayed safe with the balsamic. In the end Ashley's delivered what we didn't know we needed. A cozy and relaxed Sunday dinner without the dishes. They've really done wonders with this place - which in the 2015-18 ish era was an old-fashioned Irish pub. Now it's more like a diner - with a large menu and a huge salad bar. $14 at lunch time - all you can eat. The grilled cheese ($9) comes with either fries or sweet potato fries. Very good. My friend and I came here for the first time on a Friday night. We were sat right away in the main dining area. I noticed the bar area had live entertainment going on. The menu is expansive. Many options caught my eye. If you order an entree, their salad bar comes with it, or, for $8, you can add it to your app/sandwich. For $16, the salad bar can be your entree. The salad bar was a great treat and has everything you could want along with fresh fruit and desserts like bread pudding. We shared the buffalo chicken dip. It was ok. Not bad. I got the prime rib queen cut with a side of horsey sauce. It was cooked to the temp I wanted. I got their homestyle mashed potatoes as my side. The meal was delicious. Took home half. My friend got the ribeye melt sanwhich. She could only manage a few bites before packing it up as she also added the salad bar to her meal. We split a chocolate mousse pie for dessert. So fresh and decadent. The cost was reasonable too! Will definitely go back to try more options. My only gripe is that they brought out our app just minutes before our entrees. All of the food the 7 of us ordered was next to inedible. The best thing was the salad. Brisket was burnt and dry. Chicken Marsala was tasteless; pasta had no flavor; burgers were not cooked the way they were ordered - medium to medium well - all were just about rare. Oh and the flies. Manager said nothing they could do about them. Worse birthday experience I've ever had. Service was slow. Took more than 40 minutes to get our food. Did I mention the large amount of flies? Been here a few times and it's a fairly well run establishment. They have a great salad bar and the pizza is pretty good! Service is always attentive and the place stays clean. Bar service can be slow however. I tried the turkey dinner a while back and though it was lacking in volume it was tasty. Dunno if I'd trust the entrees again after taking my wife there the other night. The Steak Diane I ordered medium came out raw. I mean really raw like barely seared. The first and only bite I took revealed that not only was it raw but the Diane sauce was absolutely horrible. There was no cognac in the sauce whatsoever (which is a key ingredient for Diane sauce) and was flavorless. It tasted like a very basic "tan" gravy was used. I'll be back for the salad bar. I was there the other night and if you care to look at your own menu under "Steaks" you'd see it. The fact that YOU aren't even aware this is on your menu on the hard copy menu your hostess gave us that night and on your website shows your knowledge level (not the one here on Yelp that you haven't updated). So you still serve your "Baked chicken wings" too listed on your Yelp menu? Not! This speaks volumes!! Coming from a saucier like myself I know darn well there was no cognac (nor red wine) in the sauce as the description on your menu in the "Steaks" section states: Steak Diane $32.00 Sirloin steak covered with black peppercorns in a rich mushroom red wine sauce and served with mashed potatoes and grilled onions. Very family oriented local restaurant. Good food. Excellent service! Meet Jen our server. Wonderful! Pleasant and friendly. Large salad bar having fresh lettuce, many different salads including tuna, egg, chicken. Fresh veggies and fruit. Desserts included with very good rice pudding and bread pudding. Do try. Noodle dishes included as well. The pot stickers were delish. The rib eye steak sandwich was tasty and filling. We were very satisfied. I was there Friday, had gone out of my way to go there was really looking forward to Pizza with goat cheese and peaches, my husband chose some Mexican dish he had. Boy I was so disappointed my pizza was a mess crust was soggy so much peaches not much goat cheese. Very disappointed I Thur most away. My husband was 1/2 the size we had all summer. Just a mess. I reviewed it when we had it at least once week. The menu changed was to much. Prices really went up. That is to be expected with are wonderful leaders tariffs like everything else. I don't mind paying if you can enjoy. I will try again in a couple of weeks. The help was wonderful very pleasant helpful with the new menu. I liked the old menu better easier to read. Perfect pub and restaurant for an after Longwood Gardens visit. Also on Baltimore Pike and very easy to get to. The food is decent and the prices are very reasonable. I chose the soup and salad bar option. Could have just gone with the salad bar as it had a good variety of greens, prepared salads, proteins, dressings, etc. Can't go wrong with the salad bar. My soup was tomato based with chicken. I got a bowl and the salad bar was only $8 as an add on. My total was just a little over $18 + tip. Bar side of the restaurant is loud on a Saturday night. Live music as the drinks are pouring. Fun atmosphere. Only negative... if you get the table way back in the bar it's really the corridor to a rear access door. It literally just fits the long table and unoccupied chairs comfortably. Barely any space between the back of your chair and the wall. Went there the evening of November 22 and it was pretty chilly outside. Every time someone used that rear access door it was like the arctic freeze hitting you. This is not your mamas diner, but then again it is! Ashley's restaurant and bar has the great traditional diner food in an more modern Environment. This restaurant has everything you want as far as dining choices, a bar and a dining area. You literally can bring the family dine in one area and have a drink at your table or the bar. When you enter this restaurant is a bright, clean, organized modern diner, you have no idea what you were in store for. We sat at a nice booth, not too far from the salad bar. Since we were early, we were basically the first few people to make choices from the salad bar. The salad bar is very reminiscent of a childhood diner, of 50-80's and those of you from Jersey this place will make you proud. Every salad I tried was delicious even the potato salad believe it or not and that's a hard feat. The the prices are fair the food is good, and the service is excellent. I didn't sit at the bar but it's a nice space for those who want to come and get a few appetizers and something quick to drink. I was here for lunch recently with a large party. I had never been here before, even as its earlier iterations as Poz's or the Hilltop. The inside looked totally refreshed and stylized like a 1980's NJ diner with salad bar and booths. The menus is quite extensive and anyone should be able to find something they might want to try. Service here was exceptionally pleasant and generally efficient. I found it odd that prime rib was available at a weekday lunch but I tried it anyway. I'm not sure if this was reheated but I asked for mine cooked medium (which it was) but the outside was brown on both sides as if it had seen some external heat. Whatever happened, it had no flavor or seasoning. Interestingly, baked potatoes are not available at lunch so you have to pick a different side. Steamed broccoli was over cooked but not mushy. Crabcake was supposedly made with lump crab but no lumps were found so they were either overmixed or a different kind of crab was used. The table ordered some appetizers. The best thing was the pretzels. Chicken nachos were bland even though they looked promising. Sandwiches that others ordered looked good and generous. If I were to return here, that what I would order, just as I would at a NJ diner. read more

2nd time there. 1st time was excellent, in May. Crab party was excellent, lump meat throughout. This time was terrible. Service, terrible. Waited and waited for the waitress to take our orders. Never mentioned happy hour drinks or clam night. Crab patty was more filler than anything and spicy. Food was barely warm. We had to ask to see the dessert menu. And it wasn't only our table. You could hear others complaining as well. I bragged about this place to the friends i was there with. This is where I wanted to go for my birthday. Very disappointed. I'm quite positive i was at Ashley's. Your website shows Wednesday clam night. I do stand corrected about the dessert MENU. There is none. It's written on the chalk board inside. We were outside. The only place in the area that has a salad bar. It's pretty good and we all got it. The teriyaki chicken was decent this trip. The quesadilla was pretty meh. Mostly onions and peppers, despite our server saying it's just cheese. Easily the worst iced tea I've ever had. It's like they tripled up on the tea bags. Horrific. read more

Gross experience. I ordered the $32 broiled seafood platter and there was a shrimp tail in my crab cake. The still charged me even though I ate only two scallops. Won't eat here again. Okay so this place was absolutely packed. Almost the entire lot was full and it seemed like most of the crowd gravitated to the room with the bar. It's a bit deceiving how large this place is inside. There is a large room with a bar, and then a separate dining rooms with booths, tables, and a salad bar. Yes you heard me correctly, a salad bar. I cannot remember the last time I was in a restaurant with a salad bar! We decided to sit outside because it was a beautiful night and their patio was cute had tons of tables! I was a little confused because there was only one other group of people eating out there. This menu is huge. There are so many options that range from sandwiches, italian specials, seafood, Mexican etc. We decided on the baked Brie for an appetizer which was okay. The crostini it came with were tasty, but the Brie was barely warm. The sauce it came with was smokey and sweet and the peppadew peppers were sweet with a little spice. I didn't touch the mixed fruit because I'm allergic to pineapple and did not realize it was in there when I ordered it. Also, I didn't feel like the app needed fruit since the sauce was so sweet. I ordered a meatball sandwich since it said the meatballs were homemade and my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich. When the sandwich came out I was excited because it looked great, but biting into it was a bit of a different story. The tomato sauce was super chunky and overwhelmingly sweet. The meatballs were pretty small, so I feel like you couldn't really taste them much because they were drowning in the sweetness from the sauce. The cheese melted on top also had no flavor at all. Everything involved in this sandwich just tasted like a tomato sugar bomb. I actually took one of the meatballs out of the sandwich to taste it by itself since it said they were homemade. They are definitely all beef meatballs with not much herb or cheese flavoring you'll sometimes get from a meatball. It was a really juicy meatball by itself which I think people would be able to enjoy more without so much sauce. The fries that came with it were super dry and had no salt on them. There was no salt on the table otherwise I would have added it. My wife enjoyed her sandwich. Again, heavy on the sauce to the point it was falling apart but she didn't have any complaints besides her fries as well. She was excited by the salad bar at first but said she probably wouldn't get it again. The service here was very friendly, and outstanding if I'm being honest. I'm not sure if I just ordered wrong or what because the reviews here always seem great, but I'm not quite sure if I'd return. read more

Well, i read the reviews before going! And yes, the salad bar is terrific, and the other food, not so much, but our service was excellent. The salad bar is worth the trip; fresh, very well thought out with pretty much anything you could want from a salad bar. And while i did't enjoy the bread pudding, others in my party did, so I'll defer. My wife had liver and onions (don't judge) and her reaction was meh... Three of us had shrimp cocktail, sort of as a main along with the salad bar, and on this I won't defer, the shrimp were not good, a bit mushy, and the cocktail sauce was just ketchup. So, get the salad bar, and ignore the menu is my advice. Although I will say the corned beef special at the next table looked good from 12' away... read more

This is our second time going to this place. First time we had a great experience and the food was very good. Unfortunately this time the food was mediocre and not much of a selection. They didn't even have regular bread/toast. And when I asked for my eggs over medium, they don't do that which they did the first time anyways They were not very accommodating with any request. I really want to post a great review, I have been here four times now and the food is delicious most of the time. The most recent one does affect my overall rating though. We came in a few days ago and the place was packed. We got seated and ordered some appetizers quickly and our main dishes also. 10 minutes later, a new group sits next to us and orders, the manager is talking to them every few minutes. About 40 minutes later, we ask about the appetizers because we have not heard anything, waiter says he will go look at it and it gets brought out. Got a bacon wrapped shrimp, and the bacon is not cooked (the outside is), so we could not eat all of it. At this point, the restaurant is emptying. That is how long we had been to it. The table next to us that the manager was giving a lot of attention to had gotten the food and left. A new group comes in behind us and orders and somehow gets the food before we get ours. We ask our after 1hr in if any update on the food, he says that he can look and a few minutes later, and brings out the food. The food is not warm at all and some of it is cold. The fries are not warm. The wings are not warm. The pizza, which I had seen ready for about half an hour outside, was not warm, nothing was. That leads me to think that the food was ready long before, we had to be ones that ask about it. I do not know why the food would be cold, I think the restaurant forgot is all. That table that came after we got our appetizers (45 min after us)? The manager is talking to them too and they get the food before we do. We probably leave same time and the difference is, they got warm food. Like I said, I have been to Ashley's and enjoy the food. I brought others here looking to show them how awesome this place is and I left embarrassed because this was my idea. I do not want to blame the waiter because he is really friendly and obviously a lot of the staff are young, which is fine because we can encourage that. Came here after election night. My husband and I were never greeted at the door. The hostess was gone so long we sat at a table in the bar. We waited over 15 min and no one came so we sat at the bar and grabbed some menus that were within reach. The bartender never once asked us if we would like a drink. After sitting at the bar for an additional 10 mi without anyone acknowledging us, my husband and I left & went to Iron Hill in Media. We were greeted immediately snd the waitress Melanie had our order & drinks with in 10 min. My recommendation, don't go to Ashley's, you will find the bar tender in the lounge is rude and has a personality of a dead fish. Serveice is slow, the food mediocre at best. If you want to get what you pay for and feel like you are truly being waited on go someplace else. If I could give this place zero I would. Last Wednesday afternoon we took over Ashley's by storm as I'm guessing about 200 people showed up to share and grieve the loss of my Little Brother Mike after the burial. Special Shout Out to Nina and Julia for their excellent service under the pressure of a sudden and huge demand. The food was great and the kitchen responded in a timely way. A local restaurant that is hard to beat . The parking. The menu, the food tried the smoked brisket with a braked potato fully loaded and the magnificent salad bar is a dream.
