Came here for a nice brunch and because I previously saw pictures of the cheese steak, which looked super yummy. My girlfriend and I have also seen this place quite crowded when walking by in the past. Now that we've finally tried it, I can report that it's totally fine but really nothing special. The seating first of all was pretty good, and I liked that they set up a drape to block the cold air from outside coming in. Service though, was a bit slow in terms of both our food and things like water refills and the check, but nothing too bad for such a busy place. I think my main issue was just that the food was not very good. My cheesesteak was hard to eat as the pieces of meat were both thick and super tough, so I had to gnaw and yank to rip off bites. Even still, a lot of the steak would just fall out because of how it had to be eaten. I think chopped or thin sliced meat would have been a lot better, and also with peppers added. The fries were ok but soggy, and the salad on the side was both sad and just not necessary. Again, nothing was terrible but I personally wouldn't recommend this place based on the food. I think at best people like the crowded diner/bistro vibes inside, but that's not enough to warrant a recommendation from me. read more

Came here for lunch/brunch with a friend and we both loved it. I got the homemade gnocchi and it was absolutely delicious - gnocchi was the perfect texture and you can't beat the flavors from the olives and basil vinaigrette. My friend got the nutella french toast and was very happy with it as well (I couldn't try since I'm allergic to nuts) but said it did get very sweet towards the end. The quality of the food here is great and there's really something for everyone, depending what mood you're in (breakfast food, sandwiches, or pastas - you name it). The only issue we had with our experience was the bees that kept on flying around us! But that is probably unavoidable with most outdoor dining places right now. read more

I was expecting a wait when I arrived but my friend and I were able to get seated immediately. There's plenty of seats and they have outdoor seating in front of and behind the restaurant. We were unfortunately in the back of the restaurant and the lighting and decor wasn't as cute as the rest of the place. My friend ordered their eggs benedict ($15) and I got poached eggs with gravlax salmon ($16). Both of these dishes came with french fries and salad. The portion was quite good, but taste-wise I was only able to finish half the meal. The salmon was too salty and the egg wasn't particularly tasty and a bit overcooked. We had to wait a bit to get a seat during this covid era. I would suggest seeing if you can make a reservation because we walked in. There are two bathroom when you walk inside down the hall and turn left. The staff are very friendly and kind. Props to them for working hard in this weird transition. I ordered the pancakes and they were absolutely delicious. The sides were a little crunchy WHICH I LOVED. I did put quite a lot of honey onto it just to make it feel less dry in this scorching heat. The pancakes were so tasty and worth the price. I couldn't even finish it. My friend got the corned beef sandwich(?) which came with a little salad and some fries. According to him, the fries and sandwich were amazing- one of the best. The coke came in a tiny bottle so I don't think it's worth it but it is cute to see, ngl. My cousin and I also agreed that the mac n cheese was thin. It wasn't very cheesy, and we expected it to be much richer. Kind of disappointing. This is my favorite brunch spot! They are best known for their perfect pancakes. Light, airy, FLUFFFYYYYY, and perfectly crispy on the edges complemented by their special syrup. I love that their brunch dishes come with fries and salad. There's no better combo to go with your food. It's all about balance! My go to is the open faced western omelette. It is consistent and perfectly cooked every time. This time we also had a yogurt with fresh fruit which was very generous considering the price and all the fresh fruit you get. The pressed vegetable sandwich was delicious and portioned well that we had leftovers from that. This place is cash only so don't forget to bring cash although they do have an ATM in the back. They probably keep their prices low due to being cash only. They have a few outdoor seats and a nice back patio. And for all the dog owners: they are dog friendly!!! Usually for the back patio, which is nice they accommodate that at all. And they will even give your dog a nice ice cold bowl of water if you ask. Service is always great here. Such a mediocre brunch experience. We arrived just before 12pm on a weekday and got a table right away. Service was not attentive and we had to flag them down to take our orders and bring us water. For a French cafe I was expecting the environment to be a bit classier but everything seemed a bit run down and dusty. There were a couple of mosquitoes flying around too which irked me a lot. Food took a while to come out but still within a reasonable amount of time. We got the Eggs benedict and it was nothing special. The poached eggs were kind of bland and the fries were not crispy. The mixed greens salad was pretty good though. Of course we also had to try their famous pancakes and those were much better. Very fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Amazing first bite but a couple of bites in and it started getting boring real fast. The portions are very big as well so don't overorder! Prices are not bad since it's located in Brooklyn. We came here for a Sunday brunch. Two things to be aware of: they only take cash and they do not take reservations. When we made it here, we put our names on the waitlist and were told to come back in around 25 mins. The interior of the place is adorable and really feels like you're transported into a bistro in France. The menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable. We got the spinach and goat cheese quiche as well as the infamous pancakes. The quiche was superb! Filled with spinach and goat cheese and the fries were crispy! The pancakes were amazing. Super fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, overall the experience was positive until the last bit. We had just hit the 1 hour mark of being at the restaurant and were told they need the table, basically making us feel like we were being kicked out (we were going to leave soon after anyways). I've been dining here for 15ish years at this point and don't need to tell you that their brunch, and pancakes in particular, are the best (the line on weekend mornings speaks for itself). Today I also ordered the Turkey and Brie sandwich and was severely disappointed. The fries were burnt and one half of the sandwich actually did not have any meat or cheese... just sauce!! Yum yum yum! I don't know much I can say yum buy YUM! This place is delicious!!!! I ordered their pasta with calamari on top...first off this is not on their menu. But they made it for me anyways. It was awesome!!! My friend ordered their pancakes....wow so fluffy!!! You have to go just for their pancakes! And even the Quiche I didn't take a picture of was good! Like, good luck getting a table for brunch. Even on weekdays it's crowded. The service and ambiance are fine, again nothing extraordinary. AND it's cash-only. What is it with this neighborhood and not accepting cards!? They have an ATM on-site, but it was broken last time I was there. I keep going back and have taken plenty of out-of-town guests because in my mind Luluc is a staple of the neighborhood. You get salty, sweet, and even a side of salad. The matchstick fries are just how I like them, crispy and perfectly salted. Alright. Food is 4-4.5 stars. Service is probably 3-4 stars. Cash only policy, with zero warning outside? 1 star. First off, it is extremely busy so who knows if my feedback makes literally any difference on the cash only policy - they're certainly not hurting for business. But with that said, the wait is very long because it's super busy - I waited 30 minutes outside for a table - to find out it was cash only, and had I known, I honestly wouldn't have gone. Once I was finally seated, the menu says cash only and I already was super annoyed before I even ordered. I know it sounds super complainy but get with the times. My $20 meal was now $22.50 because of the credit card fee at the ATM. I don't carry cash, I use a credit card so I can get points and the loss of 3x points on Chase sapphire makes me just..... not want to go here again over somewhere else. And they're one of the only places on the block doing this. With that said, the Nutella French toast is very good, and I love the fruit that comes atop it. It's well made and a big portion for the steep price ($16, I tipped $4 cause I'm not going to ask for my $1 back like an asshole). The service was okay - they're really busy so they can't be suuuper out of their way attentive but still filled my water plenty enough. You know what happened though? After thinking in my head about these pancakes and wondering how great they really are I didn't feel like eating pancakes. So I got mac and cheese. Stares at my feet. The outdoor area is kind of cute. It wasn't super well heated but it wasn't too bad either. I think we were just sitting out there on like a 30 something degree day back in February. First of all - the prices on everything have gone up from older menus. Drinks are now pretty expensive. But I kind of figured. They've gone up in price everywhere. So I just ordered water. The mac and cheese? It wasn't rave worthy amazing. It was baked. Which I don't mind. The portion size was really pretty large for its value. The thing that gets me is if it's baked with bread crumbs it better still hold it's creaminess. Instead of being creamy it was weirdly oily and my stomach felt like death had warmed over on my 3 mile walk home. Like my mind was willing me to walk faster/struggle run to get home to my porcelain chamber pot. My friend on the other hand ordered the stuffed nutella french toast and her commentary was: "I wish I got something savory instead". So I guess we both didn't have our expectations met. But I'm still giving it 4 stars because I really want to believe they have some of the best pancakes in Brooklyn and that we both just didn't order the right things. Fluffy, cloud-like, dreamy pancakes! These are some of the best pancakes in the city and just the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning! I love cafe luluc, they're old school in the best way possible. I asked for a cappuccino and they don't offer alternative milks which was okay with me but just be aware of that fact. That being said, they make the best traditional cappuccino out there. It's so fluffy and the foam is just perfect. It's a joy to drink They also offer outdoor seating but it's very limited so I would wait for warmer weather to come here. The inside space is quite small but cozy and they follow covid guidelines.
