    Veggie & cheese omelet.

Never had Latvian food before. Cafe Smilga is great. Very unassuming from outside. It's a grocery store and table service restaurant w/ indoor picnic tables. Super nice people, speaking Latvian to patrons. Food is great. Lots of meat (I'm a pescatarian) so I ordered a veggie & cheese omelet. Very good and came with a bread basket. Potatoes, sliced tomato, cucumber and pickles. Very fresh and very good. Il come back to try the fish dishes.

I visited this place in 2011 and was very happy as it was exactly my childhood food memory (my parents were Lithuanians who I lost a few years ago) This year I was coming back to Chicago and off course I went to the places with my childhood memories but this time there was a disappointment Chicago is the only one place where I can find cipilini and if the first time they were given with proper bacon sauce this time I do not know what it was but that was not traditional sauce. It was God knows what kind of bacon with strange sour flavor and was not able to eat... Big disappointment Hopefully next time I will be back it will be old fashioned!

Enormous breaded pork tenderloin with fries and beef stew with boiled potatoes + beet/cabbage/pickle garnish. Five stars!!!

Delicious, friendly cafe just 2 minutes off of I-55... totally worth it! The menu is mainly traditional Lithuanian fare, but don't be scared... there are basics for kids and picky eaters (the French fries were A+). Attached to the restaurant is a small, Lithuanian-inspired food and beverage market - grab a basket! Service was delightful!

I went in and got some Zeppelins, they were to die for! I am definitely a fan of all the potato dishes in the Lithuanian culture! Yum!!

    kharcho soup, beet salad

Food was amazing , service attentive and friendly. We shared kharcho soup, beet salad, potato pancakes w pork and homemade cookies. the Lithuanian black currant wine was a fun pairing with the peppery soup :)

Absolutely AMAZING authentic Lithuanian food. Holy cow - we are addicted. Huge portions very reasonably priced. We ordered a variety to try: the pan fried fish with veggies, stuffed cabbage, farmers sausage with stewed sauerkraut, and beet soup. What a hidden gem we will be back!!!

Unfortunately, there's probably a reason this isn't the most sought-out and reviewed place on Yelp. When I found out there was another Lithuanian restaurant in the area, I got excited. Real excited. Why? I dunno. I like the food at the other two. But my love of trying new places bit me in the ass this time. We came right when they opened, and the family that runs it seemed to be all gathered around one of the tables. We weren't even sure the restaurant was open, but after asking, we were told it was. So we sat down and ordered two cups of mushroom soup, a cepelinai plate and an order of kugelis. If you don't know what those things are, you probably aren't reading this review. And if you still don't know, feel free to google them. But basically, they're heavy, traditional Lithuanian dishes made from potato, grease, bacon and love. Unfortunately, aside from the soup, the food wasn't good. It tasted like it had been made about a week ago and was reheated in the microwave. In fact, I'm kind of thinking that's exactly what happened. It was steaming hot, but extremely gummy and just...bad. While the service was quick, and the server was friendly, the food was just lacking to the point that I had to leave half of mine uneaten. And if you know my love for Lithuanian food, that just isn't how I roll.

Customer service so disrespectful. If your body not perfect they will laugh at you. I will never go to that place again.

THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN…read more Sometimes it's nice to venture to the far end of where you live, even if it's just a beer run. Of the two Meijer stores in Bolingbrook, this is the eastern location near I-355 & Boughton Rd. It's off of Janes Ave in the same general vicinity as IHOP, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Discount Tire. The store is laid out in a mirror image of the one I'm used to, so it took me a while to find what I needed. A 12pk of Half Acre Daisy Cutter was marked down to $18 (normally $25) and a 4pk of Stella Artois tallboys was $7, also a very good deal. I only bought booze on this trip, so I can't comment on the quality or availability of produce. The shopping floor seemed clean and well-organized. I made use of the US Bank ATM inside and couldn't help but notice it was much smaller than the behemoth at the Meijer on Weber Rd, AKA Bolingbrook West. I stood there slightly hunched over, punching in my PIN on a keypad that seemed tiny by comparison. Were Derek Zoolander present, he would've said "what is this, a cash machine for ants??" During self-checkout, the guy who came over to scan my ID for the beer waved his badge and was greeted with the classic 21st century nuisance--dude's password had expired! He politely retreated to his master terminal, coming back several minutes later to finish ringing me up. A minor inconvenience, plus I got a decent chuckle out of it. Glad I'm not the only one that happens to. * TL;DR * It's not the one I usually hit up, but Bolingbrook's other Meijer is A-OK. The store was tidy and I found what I needed. Self-checkout took longer than I would've liked, though not a huge issue. I don't imagine I'll come here much in the future as the one on Weber is merely a stone's throw from my house. This strikes me as a decent Meijer servicing the people of eastern Bolingbrook, Woodridge, and Darien.

Rather convenient nearby grocer. Nothing special though. Prices usually better than Jewel (same…read moredistance for me), but I do hate when they make you buy multiple of something to get a decent price. Jewel way worse on that though too (or to download their app). Normally, I'd give 3 stars, but I'm currently avoiding due to the fact they sold me moldy buns (Dave's). I bought them on November 10th, but the expiration date was 10/31 (which I didn't look at until after I noticed the green bread I was holding and almost bit into). 6 month ban for that. Sickening. Oh, and one more thing, not even any surprise, or even an apology, when I returned them. Just business as usual.

That makes groceries here effectively super cheap. The selection isn't as big as Mariano's or Whole Foods, but it's not too bad either. Also, they have quite a bit in the way of packaged dry goods, and a small deli section and prepared food section as well. The customer service is mixed. My wife thinks it's pretty good, but I think that a lot of the staff are clearly untrained, and there was very much a "not my department" sort of mentality when I had questions. However, everybody who helped us was super friendly. So I think will come back if we need to grab the one off item. I almost want to support Mariano's, but it's not like they are a small locally owned family run grocery store either. They're also part of a large publicly traded company. So... The organic options are quite limited, so if you're looking for that sort of thing Whole Foods is probably your best bet. There's a cute little alcohol aisle as well, where you need to show your ID to even be admitted into it, pretty cool. Finally, one small hiccup we had was that we were overcharged for items. We grabbed four boxes of spinach to check the expiration date, and ended up putting three of them back. However, we were charged for all four! That would usually be a star or two off, but Amazon makes disputing these sorts of things on their app super easy, no questions asked. I almost wonder if somebody could abuse it. I think the sensor technology and all of the cameras and electronics aren't quite as sophisticated as the Amazon go store. At the end of the day, I'm not sure how competitive this place is compared to other stores. They're clearly doing quite a bit of customer acquisition, with the coupons and flyers that come in the mail. However, when the coupons expire later on, I think I would probably go somewhere else. One real benefit to this place is you don't have to interact with anyone. I guess there is self check out at most stores too, but you also don't have to go through that process because you just walk out of the store as if you're stealing everything you purchased.
