Country fried stake
Jose M.

Twice here, I strongly recommend this place breakfast is in point! Mad props to the cooks, everything always hot! First time I came the nice server lady hooked me up with extra jelly & service was on point! First time I ordered the country fried stale, comes with potatoes & eggs with an English muffin with melted butter. Everything on steroids!! Second time ordered the omelet your choice of toppings with cheese, with potatoes & English muffin. Second time I was asked if I wanted a refill & but the persons next to us did plenty of times. Not sure what happen?? Other than that food is righteous, I think she forgot we tip good. Definitely coming back & do recommend! I'm yet to come back for lunch to try their burgers, heard good things. Ambiance it's OK small sitting area. They do have another sitting area on the other side as well. We can get a little loud but not a big deal. Let me know what you think.

Good food, fast service, and family friendly. Just not impressed on the constant flies flying around your food while being seated inside. Was very uncomfortable causing a loss of appetite.

Carrot Cake Scone

We stayed at an RV park just a mile down the road from Café 22 West. We ended up eating there four times. Each time got better and better so we refused to take a chance on any other restaurant in Salem. Their breakfast was incredible and their lunches are incredible. Even the light eaters menu was great. I had a half sandwich of a Reuben. So much meat on delicious dark deli rye bread was incredible! They also had the most huge incredible scones that we split. The flavor we chose had thick frosting on it because it was a carrot cake scone. Imagine that! The two best things ever combined and it was worth every penny. Next time we go to Salem, we are planning our trip around Café 22!

Mediocre at best. I make better food at home but my client enjoyed the chili burger.

The Hot Pastrami Reuben with potato salad.

I stopped in on a busy Monday, a little before noon. The dining area was small, and fairly full, but there was a table available right away. Service was very friendly, quick and attentive. I never had to ask for a refill on my drink. I went with the Hot Pastrami Reuben with potato salad as the side. The sandwich came out piping hot! That sandwich, at first appearances, looked a little haphazardly assembled, with the meat unevenly distributed between the bread, and the sauerkraut falling out. The first bite more than made up for this. The pastrami was rich and smoky, and smothered in melted swiss. The sauerkraut was a tangy counterpoint, and the Thousand Island dressing went well with both. The meat really stood out here, with a complex and satisfying taste that was unusually delicious! The potato salad was rich and creamy, and the potatoes were cooked nicely. I didn't check out the adjoining fruit stand this time, but next time I'm here, I definitely will. And I'm thinking my return visit will be sooner rather than later!

Everything was Amazing!! Great people and great food !! Really nice quiet diner!! Ambience is great. Service is great. food was great. We will be back! We had a fish sandwich and a patty melt & coffee. They were great to let us come five minutes before we thought they closed, but they closed at 2:30pm . Good prices too !!

Chicken Fried Steak with scrambled eggs

Tried this place for the first time today. Very busy little place, waited about 15-20 minutes to be seated, so I thought 'It must be amazing food!' I have to say Salem Eats 2.0 has overhyped this place. The staff was very friendly, but the breakfast food was not very flavorful plus, I am not a fan of country fries for breakfast. The jam was delicious and their farm store was well worth the trip. May go back for lunch or dinner, but there are MUCH better breakfasts to be had, in and around Salem.

Dirty. Nasty.

Corned beef hash was salty and the eggs were over cooked. Otherwise nice little place.

Ask the Community - Cafe 22 West

Did they improve their Covid protocols to make it safer?

We went there tonight (8/15/2021). Not a single employee was wearing a mask. It's a shame because the quality of their food product is high, but they apparently don't care about their customer's health.

Are the breakfast and lunch menu options also available during dinner time?

Lunch is available any time. Not sure about breakfast.

Oh my gosh I don't know where to start! Everything I ordered was a solid 10/10 & that doesn't…read morehappen too often LOL. Started out with the giant tower of whip cream'd hot chocolate! House made of course so it's even better than the store bought stuff in my opinion because it tastes like actual chocolate. I ordered the filet minion chicken fried steak and it was cooked to perfection. So juicy inside and crispy but not like overly cooked crispy on the outside! Topped with a hot gooey layer of house made sausage gravy. The overall size of this steak was about as big as my face. To complement this enormous steak was eggs, a biscuit & some smashed Yukon potatoes..like they were literally small potatoes they just smashed which was really different to me because I've never seen that before. I also had to order the infamous cinnamon roll pancake I been seeing floating around on other people's reviews. IT IS A MUST.. and if you are ordering it to take home make sure you have a piece of it while it's still hot and fresh because that was to die for. I won't go more into detail about it you just have to try it. It will speak for its self. Overall the dinning experience was great! Servers were more than happy to get you whatever you need. We sat at the bar so y'all should try their drinks because they looked so good and the bartenders looked like they were having fun making them. The restaurant is a literal house and while charming it is small and packed inside and the parking lot is also really small so you may need to get there early or expect to park somewhere else in the streets. We got there an hour after they opened and it was only a 30 minute wait thankfully. Will be coming back again to try other menu items!

Stairs up to entry was very dangerous with waiting customers using handrails on both sides, then,…read moreno landing at the top! We told hostess we did not want to sit at the bar, she sat us at the bar, after some more wait, we did get a table. Coffee was ok, but the cups were huge, always 2/3 full of cold coffee. The food took one hour to find our table. Nothing special, my wife had an omelet, with a big glob of Brie cheese, overpowering the omelet. I had corned beef hash that was extremely dry and salty. I also had warm rye bread. Not toasted. We were half done with our breakfast, and was given the bill, and boxes to go. Very rushed, crowded, and expensive. $58 for sub-par breakfast for 2. Sorry WOM, didn't cut it.
