Tried this place this morning on the Yelp recommendation. It was as advertised really quaint, nice atmosphere, awesome staff. Good food. We had a fair amount of off-menu tweaks and the staff didn't skip a beat. Collectively, we tried the eggs bene, corned beef hash and apple-cinnamon waffle. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Would order all items again. I'm rating it four stars instead of five though four two reasons. The corned beef hash while tasty was clearly not house made. Genuinely friendly service at this clean and bright family run joint. Went for breakfast with 5 and our coffee cups were never empty and we weren't rushed out after we had finished eating and sat chatting. The spinach & feta egg whites were delicious as well was the house breakfast skillet and southwest omelette. A very great addition to Main St. read more

When I visit Hobart, I'm always glad Cafe 339 exists-- it's a lovely little breakfast spot, with friendly service and good food-- and they take credit cards, unlike their neighbors across the street. It's good to see Hobart restaurants evolving in a modern direction. I'm extremely pleased that there is no smoking section (thank God!), and that the food is reasonably priced. read more

We stopped here on our way back from Lollapaooza on our way back to Muskegon Michigan, and had a fantastic breakfast with mimosas and bloody Mary's, how can you beat that? Our waitress Melissa(i think that's right) and the owners were absolutely fantastic and accommodating! I would 100% recommend everyone go eat here, immediately, right now! 6 adults and 1 infant were at the County Line Orchard. Standing outside the barn and looking at the huge crowd, we decided to check yelp for a nearby restaurant instead of staying for burgers or hot dogs or whatever they have. I had already eaten two or three donuts and maybe sampled a half dozen apples in the orchard. We decided to drive somewhere before heading back into the city. Yelp suggested Cafe 339 based on ratings and proximity. We arrived around 1 on a Saturday and a table was available. Our group was mixed between deciding between breakfast and lunch type fare. Prices were reasonable... almost looked so cheap compared to Chicago brunch places. They have a full bar, but my companion didn't find the Bloody Mary spicy or exciting. I ordered the Country Benedict, which was quite good. I ordered an Ice Tea which I didn't receive. I reminded the waitress when I received my meal. Thankfully it wasn't listed on the bill. Likewise, another member of my party ordered the soup of the day. It didn't arrive until we reminded the server when the main course came. Unfortunately, we should not have reminded her because she found the lemon rice soup lumpy and only ate a bite. Such an awesome place for breakfast and lunch. I've never had something here that I didn't like, and I've tried quite a few things on the menu. I was drawn here by hearing about how terrific the food is and how kind and the kind and friendly wait staff. The preceding all panned out. I came for breakfast. The breakfast was served hot and was simply delicious. The staff and yes the proprietor and members of his family were grand. The owner is compassionate. We came here two times in one week because it was so good(once for breakfast, the other for lunch)! The service is quick, and the quality of food is awesome. The space is a little cramped, but that's all anyone could complain about. Breakfast was fresh, and lunch came out steaming. The fresh fruit pancakes/French toast is to die for! I came here with some family friends and got the Nutella Nana crepe, it was watery and flavorless, barely any Nutella in it. the Spanish man came up to my table and asked me if I drank any coffee and I said no simply because I don't drink coffee, only water, the man then said you don't belong here if you don't like my coffee... mind you, I'm the only black woman in this place. seek help. read more

This is our favorite place to eat. We normally go for breakfast and end up getting the lunch special to go for dinner for us that evening. It's family owned and the food is amazing. Love this little cafe in downtown Hobart! I've been coming here for years. The omelettes and Brickie Bowl skillet are my favorite things to get here. Excellent breakfast spot and they serve boozy breakfast beverages! It's always busy but so well worth the wait. The owners are lovely people who make everyone feel welcome. Definitely a great place! Small space & you can seat yourselves. Everyone who works there seems to help each other out (refilling coffee, etc). However we did have to wait awhile for our food. I rarely write reviews but I think this place is a hidden spot that deserves much more recognition. I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant, I come here pretty often, and always enjoyed all my meals and the servers were always very nice and polite. Went here for the 1st time recently for breakfast. I can say that this place lives up to the high ratings. I had one of their skillets and the cheesecake stuffed French Toast, both were excellent. Cafe 339 is certainly a welcome breakfast spot to downtown Hobart after only having that shit hole Bright Spot across the street as a choice for breakfast all these years. They​ even serve hard liquor if you enjoy drinking that early in the morning. This place is strictly a breakfast and lunch spot only because they close by 3pm. The only 2 negatives that I can say about this place are that it has an extremely small dining room and you feel like you're right on top of other patrons when you're seated. I prefer a little privacy when I'm seated at a restaurant, but that's just me. Another thing that sucked(due to what I mentioned earlier about them having a small dining area) is the extremely long wait time you have to get a table! I waited close to a 1/2 hour to be seated and there's no waiting area so as other customers file in they're right up your ass at the front door! It's a good thing I have my smart phone to keep me occupied while I was waiting, otherwise I might have said screw it and left. This place definitely needs to think about expanding if one of the surrounding businesses ever closes shop. read more
