We came here the other day for lunch! Being from Los Angeles my bar for Mexican food is very high! This place did not disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive! The food was so good, flavorful and authentic! I had a medley of tacos and pollo soup, both so good! People in my party had a chimichanga and carne Asada and both were also flavorful and delicious! My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. My only gripe is I 100% think they should change the lighting from sterile white to soft orange. Love their food, I'll drive from Valparaiso to Lake Station for their food every time I'm craving authentic Mexican food such as tacos de carne asada w/ cilantro y onion on soft corn tortillas and don't have time to make it myself. The employees are very friendly & hard working, I've never once had an order that wasn't correct!! Having helped with my family's Mexican restaurant years ago, I know first hand exactly how much work it takes for things to run smoothly and they do a great job taking orders & communicating with the cooks as they're most definitely on point. This is a great Mexican restaurant in an unassuming strip mall. There's a neat outdoor covered patio too (which I was told was built during Covid to accommodate dine-in guests). The menu is understandably taco-heavy (as the word taqueria is in the restaurant name), but they have many other authentic Mexican items too. I opted for the pozole as it is one of my favorites and is not easy to find. Thr pozole came in a huge bowl and was rife with hominy and big chunks of beef. All for under $10. The salsa is housemade and has a nice spicy kick. This place is definitely on my list of place to hit again whenever I'm in the Lake Station/Portage/Ogden Dunes area. read more

I absolutely love this place! I love it more because it's exactly 2 mins from my house lol! My friend and I were seated right away. They were starting to get busy around 6:00 but they offered us a seat at the bar and someone left so we were able to get a booth. Our sever was so adorable and sweet! She was also the bartender and our drinks were PERFECT! She poured with the love of the Lord lol! I ordered a Cadillac margarita and my friend ordered ordered a piña colada. For our meal, I had the chimichanga, al pastor of course. She ordered the chile relleno tacos and steak quesadilla. When I tell you this was the FASTEST service I've EVER received ..... I mean, we weren't even at the table for 12 mins and our plates were brought to us.. PIPING HOT AND STEAMING I might add. The portions, incredible! I couldn't finish mine and neither could she lol! Everything was fresh, everything tasted amazing and we sat for a good hour just talking. No one made us feel like we had to move, they just checked on us and made sure we were okay. 10/10 . I will definitely be going back.. maybe even today just for drinks lol. A very well made drink and dinner for the price of 22.46! You can't beat that! Go give them a visit! This is me and my husband's absolutely favorite place to eat. They repeat the orders back to you, are polite, and the food is always ready fast and fresh. Nothing else has even compared to Maza, and we've tried other places out. I recommend the chicken or steak fajitas... and of course, their tacos are the best! read more

I'm already paying over $22 for a Mexican steak dinner, but then they charge extra for hot sauces, plus they charge an extra processing fee for credit cards. Steak dinner and 4 tacos came out to $39. I ordered the ground beef taco salad and it was delicious along with the beef with chili de árbol. The horchata was a bit bland.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend so I took my son when he came to town. We felt very safe with spread out seating and masks. The salsa was spicy but not overly hot. Good food and affordable prices. The steak tacos were good. The kids quesadilla with chicken - the chicken had some sauce on it that my kids didn't like. So if you have picky kids just get the plain quesadilla. We were there on a Friday night and the music was SO loud, hopefully that's just a weekend thing though. We each tasted one another's, and all agreed that the fabulous flautas were best, followed closely by fantastic fajitas, and the doggone good gordita. The burrito was fine, for a burrito, but unspectacular, compared to our other three meals. Their salsa was also very flavorful, snd servings quite generous. Servers are always pleasant and the food is good portions but most importantly the flavor is so good! Very laid back atmosphere.

Their guacamole was delicious. Quality horchata. Nothing wrong with their salsa, but both green and red were what I would classify as hot. They did not offer anything milder. Tortilla chips were decent, though they did not appear to be housemade. The server was very polite and fast. They were not super busy for an early dinner. My chimichanga was not great. The ground beef lacked flavor. The blend of beans, cheese, and meat seemed off. I just was left feeling that it was overall mediocre at best. read more
