Cute Greek restaurant, almost all cliches are in effect. Grumpy Greek owner who seemed strict with staff. Sassy staff which provides great service, and a crowd, so while they are all wearing masks and cleaning up between patrons, I would not say that there is 6 feet distance available. So if that is a personal concern, know that up front. I had the southern Benedict. The biscuits were made from scratch but were really only average tasting. This is disappointing because biscuits from scratch are usually a benchmark of a great bng. The sausage patties were good, defiantly premium quality.. The gravy was very space. It was good but not amazing. Still for a traditional biscuits and gravy it is a 3.5 so I will round up. Skip the coffee it was not good. Price was cheap, and overall good experience but not a must stop. I would go back and try something else. read more

2nd day in Indiana so I had to eat & try this spot. So glad I did. Found a parking spot on the street. Nice exterior. Upon entry a gentlemen welcomed me & guest. The overhead music was playing jazz music, perfect. Soft music before coffee = yes. A nice server took order. I did forget her name. Food came within 10 minutes. I ordered the egg white omelette w/Swiss chees, ms, & onions, which was divine. The potatoes were delish plus pancakes. Coffee was delish & they offered flavored creamer. I even took a cup to go. Our server was superb. The tab for my order & guest's order was under $22!!! Unbelievable. We paid $40 for sub pair food & service recently at another place. Darn!! So worth it here!! The earth tone colors, great service, delicious food, & jazz music = a superb experience. I took a take out menu for my files to re-visit on my next visit. Keep up the great job guys!! read more

We drove to Hobart as a way of just getting out of the house and seeing the area in this weird pandemic window. Cafe 339 had a couple of outside tables, so, feeling "safe" we sat down to some of the best sandwiches ever. I got the Rican panini, while my husband got the grilled chicken. We did not share. We couldn't! We both became incredibly protective of our food - down to the last, excellent french fry. Food delicious. Service is delightful. The check came in at $18. It was a bargain. read more

Café 339 is one of those places were you feel at home. The food is comforting and the people are friendly. I was quite impressed! When you're not local, sometimes you don't know what you're getting yourself into in terms of finding non-chain/familiar restaurants, but this one is a winner. EAT HERE. You'll be glad. We had biscuits and gravy, potatoes, country fried steak and eggs, pancakes - and mimosas, of course! Our server, Michelle, was so nice; we'd go back just to sit at another of her tables. First time here and the stuffed French toast was SO GOOD! The owner was very welcoming and attentive. unfortunately I couldn't say the same about our waitress, she might have been having a rough day. Everyone has one ‍ it would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for that and also their card machine broke while we was there. We had to walk about half a mile to the Chase Bank to take out money and walk it back. I feel good customer service would have at least discounted something for our troubles. This little cafe has an AMAZING menu and staff. Dimitri is sweet, funny, and so helpful. Our out-of-town group of five got brunch with mango mimosas and bloody marys. Nice location with beautiful lake park and renovated downtown with a nice walking around the shops and ample off-street and lot parking. Cafe 339 is a certainly a local favorite with only restaurant on Sunday morning with people waiting outside in cold. We were greeted with a very friendly smile and served and well taken cared for during our brunch. The prices are reasonable and quantity is good. I ordered their Eggs Florentine (Eggs Benedict with spinach), which comes with a side of potatoes. I would say that it was nothing special. The yolk was cooked almost all the way and their homemade hollandaise sauce was nothing to crave about. I had to spice things up a little by adding extra table top condiments. The owner was very friendly and almost everyone around me seemed to enjoy their food. I will give it another try before completely remove it from my list of places to visit again if I am in neighborhood. But my first visit was certainly a disappointment. It is worth a try to see if you can find that factor that had made so many locals regular customers here!! read more

The best customer service and fluffy omelets!! The pancakes are nice and tasty! Wish the dining room was bigger but it all seems to work. There is outdoor eating in summer months. Came recommended by the waitress. We both ordered two skillets mine had gravy and hers was Roman which had Italian sausage. This place is the closest I've come to having my grandmas country gravy. Not exact but getting there. It's needs a bit less flour and a little more sausage/bacon grease and they've got it! Way better than floury gravy mess at Cracker Barrel etc. this actually had some flavor. Skillets were super filling and eggs were cooked perfect. They have a great looking menu. I ate breakfast at Cafe 339 and it was good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was pretty tasty, the portion was huge, and it was only $4.95. When the server brought out my food she also brought a bottle of Tapatio hot sauce to the table. I appreciated this because I always ask for hot sauce. The service was really good and there seemed to be a lot of regulars there for breakfast. I only wish they had more tea options. I was hoping to order a chai latte, but unfortunately it wasn't on the menu. They had coffee, juices, and some breakfast cocktails, but were seriously lacking in the tea department. I will definitely be back to try some other breakfast dishes. read more

Stopped here today for breakfast after reading some of the reviews on yelp. Parking was on the street which sometimes can be a pain. The place is very clean and cozy staff is friendly and started filling up fast after I sat down. Today I ordered the Country Eggs Benedict which was Eggs Benedict served with sausage patties instead of the traditional ham and sausage gravy instead of hollandaise sauce. Gotta say I did enjoy this version the biscuits were good with the sausage gravy and they gave you a good portion. The gravy was pretty thick which I like. The coffee was good and they kept you refilled. The potatoes where also very good seasoned good and cooked great! Overall I enjoyed my breakfast will be back. I think you get a good breakfast and great portions for the price. I'll be back to try other breakfast items and hopefully to try some of there lunch items. It did look like they serve dinner some nights and even had a little bar. The only thing I didn't like about this place it only had street parking which is out of there control and small unisex bathroom other than that this place is a hidden gem! read more

A friend recommending Cafe 339 and so we had breakfast there during a fast trip to NW Indiana from California. Very friendly service, the owner came over and chatted us up, he was genuinely friendly. The waitress was great and the woman who was at the cash register when we paid at the end of our meal was wonderful too. The background music was awesome and unexpected. Jazz and Greek music. Very eclectic mix. Loved it. Decent food. I had eggs, bacon, potatoes and a side order of the biscuits and gravy. The potatoes are sort of odd, not really hash browns, not really home fries, but tasty. The biscuits and gravy are good. Everything could have been just a bit warmer (temperature-wise). Coffee not bad but they only have Coffee Mate, which was disappointing. My partner had the biscuits and gravy, eggs and a side order of fruit, which she really enjoyed. Fruit was fresh and delicious. I intend to return to try some of the lunch items. Definitely the best breakfast we have had in NW Indiana. read more
