A sort-of-Southern, sort-of-health food version of a classic NY deli, we loved sampling from their extensive menu. Her avocado toast was great, while my trio salad sampler with egg, shrimp, and some of the best tuna in town was perfect, served on salad with the best sweet vinaigrette. I'm giving this location an extra star because of the food alone. I had to stop on my way to work to take a call and decided to order. When I walked in it was almost like the staff was surprised. The cafe opens at 9 AM so I'm not sure why - it was 9:25 AM. After looking around, it was clearly their time to prep lunch orders for delivery and checking their laptops. About all the dining area was set-up with stacks of food and boxes for the deliveries. Other employees were heads down on their computer at tables too. Maybe the dining room wasn't open but no one said a word. I asked for a coffee drink (mocha) and was told only regular coffee and half & half. Okay. Then to eat - they made it clear there's no breakfast, only salads and sandwiches unless I like lunch for breakfast. Ok again. I found the Brunchy Toast to be similar to breakfast ingredients so I ordered that. I found a table that was somewhat free and opened my bag to take my video call. It's a cafe right? The host comes by to ask surprisingly if I wanted to stay - yes, I do. A few moments later my food arrived however no serving utensils came with it. I took a 15 minute call and drank the coffee because I literally had no fork or knife to eat. I got up after my call ended to ask and the reply was plastic or silverware? Um, I'd just like to eat my food. In short, the food here is tasty and high quality. Great presentation and flavors for the avocado toast. I took my salad to-go and ate it for lunch. I had my meal delivered because I am sick and this place did not disappoint. Half asleep, I ordered a quart of their chicken noodle soup and their walnut chicken salad. I had my food within 20 minutes at my door step! I'm not someone who likes salty chicken noodle soup, so if you feel the same way, this soup is perfect for you. The chicken is well seasoned, the broth is too, but definitely less salty than your usual chicken noodle soup. Which I think makes it so great and unique. And my usual sandwich was good as well!! I visited Cafe at Pharr on a Friday afternoon in hopes of grabbing a egg and potato salad sandwich, but they were, unfortunately, sold out. I heard from a friend that they were very good and wanted to try it for myself. I ended up purchasing a shrimp salad sandwich for myself and a spinach salad (without bacon) for my girlfriend. I found the shrimp salad to be very bland and somewhat misleading in its description. It was less of a shrimp salad and more of a few shrimp stacked on top of some tomatoes and lettuce. As far as flavoring, I was grateful to have been at home because I was in desperate need of salt and pepper just to add light flavoring. And I am one of the persons who refrains from adding additional salt and pepper to their food at any restaurant. My girlfriend enjoyed her spinach salad and found the dressing accompanying the salad to be quite flavorful. So there's a possibility that my sandwich was just a bit off. Absence and complete disinterest in basic customer service. Placed an order for take home items when the cashier noticed me still waiting for pre-prepared/packaged items he asked co-worker/"manager" if it was ready. She looked around and then remembered where she put it and seemed hurried but I ignored it. I asked the cashier for napkins...with my togo order,..and she overheard me, looked around again hurried and was visibly annoyed by the request. She proceeded to give me ONE NAPKIN by tossing it across the counter. I watched it slide off the counter and looked at her (giving her an opportunity to apologize/correct/adjust etc). She just asked "Do you need more?" with a bad attitude. I was offended and told her..."you didn't have to throw it" she grabs more napkins slams them on the counter and walks away. I was going to leave but assumed that this was a customer service training over site and elected to speak to the manager I hopes that other customers would not have to be subject to this passive aggressive treatment. The cashier asked for Tina and the co worker said "I'm the manager". Obviously I preferred to speak to Tina because the coworker is the problem (you can't QA/QC your own work). She walked around the corner and came back smirking saying you can wait over there she'll be out soon. She has now added insult to injury to make me "wait" when I saw Tina already and knew she was available. So I approach Tina to share my concern and she was dismissive and disinterested. I asked what would be done about it and her response did not seed any confidence that it would be addressed. I get it...this is Buckhead during lunch hour. Restaurants are short staffed. And you may not have many customers in my demographic. But I'm not expecting an extra mile...not throwing things at people or apologizing for mistakes is humanity 101. It's learned in kindergarten. If this disregard is the attitude of management, I'm concerned about the example being set for the rest of the team. Oh and the cashier was polite and the only person on staff with any hospitality. I got the Celery Chicken Sandwich ($8.29), which came with grapes and a yogurt roll. I thought the plating was as if I was making this for my child, they could have done a little bit better with the plating. The chicken itself was dry and I didn't like how there weren't even any little chunks with my chicken salad, it was very puréed. I was overall a little disappointed. Service was great, workers were very kind ! Not too impressed with the decor as well, very simple, plain. Yes, I had lunch here on Tuesday. Of this week. And now it's Thursday, and I finished lunch here again just a little bit ago. Whatever could prompt me to double-dip?? Well, David K. had never been, for one, and when a fun dining companion wants to try some place new, how can I pass that up?! My comments for today, short and sweet they will be. Obviously, good company. And I am pleased to tell all you meat-sandwich-lovers that the roast beef is delicious!!! I got it with Swiss added, on the same good French bread I had the other day, and it was perfect - medium rare meat (and lots of it!), fresh lettuce and tomato (hold the mayo and mustard for me), and all-around just right. Not being a big tuna or chicken salad lover, I can't personally vouch for David's tuna salad sammy, but he gave it two thumbs up during the meal! Tip - go on the "late" side, around one, to avoid the rush. Easy to get both a parking spot in the often-crowded lot, and no wait for a table if you're dining in. They're known for their chicken salad which comes in three flavors: walnut, curry, celery. I always go for the curry chicken salad which has a subtle curry flavor that isn't overwhelming. They also offer tuna salad, egg and potato salad, and shrimp salad which can be on a sandwich or salad. Their salad dressing is also to die for -- I can't quite describe the flavor other than it's a subtlety sweet olive oil based dressing (not cream based). Once you've decided what you want, make sure to order some extra yogurt rolls. They're a flaky pastry filled with a mixture of cream and yogurt. They're addicting! read more

I had heard and read about Cafe at Pharr for several months now, and although I'm generally not a fan of deli sandwiches, curiosity got the best of me. So when my co-worker asked me where I wanted to go to lunch on a Tuesday, the first place that popped into my head was Cafe at Pharr. It's super close to work (walking distance from my office), so it was convenient, too. We arrived around 1:45 pm, and there were maybe three tables of customers. I'm sure it was busier during the lunch rush from noon to 1 pm. Anyway, we were glad we went at the time we did so that we could take our time to eat and then stroll back to work without having to rush. As soon as we walked in, the employee at the counter asked if we would be dining in. When we said we were, he told us we could choose where we wanted to sit. Once we chose a table, a server quickly came over and handed us menus. I vaguely recalled reading about Cafe at Pharr's "amazing" chicken salad sandwiches, so I knew I wanted to get one. There were three options - Walnut Chicken Salad, Celery Chicken Salad, and Curry Chicken Salad sandwiches (or you could have it as a salad). I was SO tempted to get the Curry Chicken Salad sandwich but ultimately chose the Walnut Chicken Salad sandwich. When the server initially asked me what type of bread I wanted my sandwich on (white, Wheat, multigrain, baguette, or croissant), I chose the multigrain to be "healthy." I quickly changed my mind and chose the croissant after my co-worker ordered his sandwich with it. Although I knew the croissant would have many more calories, I couldn't help it because it sounded so good. After what felt like less than five minutes after ordering, we got our sandwiches! * Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich ($7.50) - The menu states, "Entrees include chilled seedless red grapes and yogurt rolls." However, I didn't realize that sandwiches were served with grapes and yogurt rolls, too! Sweeet!!! =) I have to admit, I was initially disappointed because I thought the sandwich was really small. Yes, I knew it was going to be on a croissant, and croissants are generally small. However, as soon as I had my first bite, I knew this sandwich was worth it. Per the menu description, the Walnut Chicken Salad is made of "All white meat chicken blended with crushed walnuts and golden raisins." I don't usually like raisins in my food (I prefer eating them alone as a snack), but MAN, the golden raisins were great in the chicken salad! And the crushed walnuts were good, too, but I wished there were more mixed into the chicken salad. The grapes and yogurts rolls were a nice little "dessert" to enjoy after gobbling up my sandwich. Apparently, while ordering his sandwich, my co-worker (who doesn't like grapes) had asked our server if they could substitute the grapes with more yogurt rolls, and they did! I thought that was nice of them. The grapes were sweet and good, but the yogurt rolls were great! They're basically like little croissant rolls with a creamy yogurt filling, which were served cold. You get two little "slices" of the yogurt rolls. While I enjoyed them, I thought they would be super amazing if they were frozen! Froyo rolls... Mmmm... =) Overall, Cafe at Pharr gets 4 stars for their delicious Walnut Chicken Salad sandwich and tasty yogurt rolls. Although the sandwich was very good, I didn't think it was the BEST I had ever had, so I couldn't give 5 stars. Since it's so close to work, I'm sure I'll return. Came here for lunch based on the rave reviews they received on Yelp so I was looking forward to a good experience. Sadly, that was not the case. The gentleman at the counter was not friendly at all, and when I asked what he recommended, he looked at me like I had two heads before stating, "well it's either a sandwich or a salad!" This is always my first lunch stop when I am back in Atlanta for a visit... When I lived in ATL, I was addicted to Cafe at Pharr. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu... everything is fresh and delicious! They make their own bread fresh daily... Sandwiches, Salad Plates, and even some hot entrees to choose from. I recommend keeping it simple and getting a sandwich or salad plate. The salad plate comes with lettuce, tomato, carrots, your choice of (tuna salad, celery chicken salad, walnut chicken salad, or curry chicken salad)... + some yummy yogurt pastry bites and a small cup of fresh grapes. It is the perfect lunch. Today I had the walnut chicken salad. Sometimes I have them add avocado. They also have a homemade fresh ginger dressing. It is a perfect ladies lunch spot, but I know plenty of men that enjoy it also. Great for catering and they are always friendly and fast! They now have at least 3 locations (Cafe Pharr Out and I believe the newest one is also called Cafe at Pharr but it is on Roswell Rd. in Buckhead!) Now that I live so far away, I sometimes think about having Cafe at Pharr ship me some of their walnut chicken salad or tuna salad... those are my fave. Light, fresh, fast, and delicious. This lovely cafe is located right down the street from our office. Kelly M. & I love stopping by during our lunch break for their amazing lunch options. During our last visit, we introduced another co-worker to their fantastic sandwiches and black coffee. The service here is always great and the only draw back is that it's sometimes difficult to find a parking spot during the lunch rush. They are located at the end of a strip mall right off of Peachtree Rd and not only do they attract the folks of corporate America here but they also welcome the "ladies who lunch" of Buckhead and everyone else in between. When asked, they confirmed that all their bread is made fresh in house, every morning!! You can easily taste the "freshness." :) If you haven't checked them out yet, be sure to swing by and you won't be disappointed. My husband and I found a Half Off Depot deal to this place and since we had passed it recently (on Roswell), we decided to give it a try. Imagine our surprise when we found out the Roswell location was closed. So then we drove the 2 miles to the Peachtree location. Imagine our surprise when we found out it was only a lunch place. GAH. We finally stopped by a few days ago and I was completely unimpressed. After looking at the meals at the other tables (all sandwiches), I promptly told my husband that I didn't want a sandwich because it "doesn't look good". I got the curry plate and my husband got a chicken salad plate. Well, when I got my food the first thing I said was "this does not look good". It was just chicken and carrots in some sketchy curry sauce. What curry only has ONE vegetable in it?? The rice also tasted a bit funny and the portion was ridiculously small for the price ($9). My husband's salad looked plain and unappetizing. His came with the "famous" yogurt rolls which were literally disgusting and some grapes. Overall, this place is a major ripoff. I would've never tried it except for the Half Off Depot deal and now that I have tried it, I will never be coming back. A better than average, and healthy lunch spot. They have four locations, and this Peachtree location is relatively new, after moving last year from Pharr Rd. Today my wife had the curry chicken sandwich (~$7.50), and I had the curry chicken salad plate (~$9.50). The chicken is chopped very finely and mixed with curry and perhaps a yoghurt or mayonaise dressing. The sandwich comes with thick white or whole wheat bread (untoasted...wonder if it could be toasted on request?). My wife combined the two halves and thus skipped eating one slice. My salad was the same chicken, which I thought was a little dry, though it was mild. The dressing for the salad was like a mild sesame/poppy dressing and was very flavorful. The management is very accommodating, as they let me use my groupon/half off coupon though it expired earlier this month. I've been here before, and will return. read more

I like this place for lunch. I've never eaten inside before but I've come to pickup takeout. Sometimes the parking lot is packed and parking can be tough. I've also gotten it delivered to my job and it arrives quickly. If you're in a pinch for time and need a quick lunch this is your spot. I almost always get the Curry Chicken Salad which comes with grapes and their Yogurt Rolls. The salad dressing is amazing with it. The portion is just enough to get you through the day without feeling too heavy. The chicken salad is not very wet with mayo which I like. And I thought I didn't like yogurt until I tried their yummy yogurt rolls. Don't skip those. Their catering set up is good too. I just realized today that I've ordered lunch from the Cafe At Pharr 53 times in the past 8 months and I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. I tried their new chopped salad today with grilled chicken. It was very good and a nice change from their Walnut Chicken salad, which is probably still my favorite. Their salads aren't as exotic as a lot of salads you see on menus these days, but to me, that's a good thing. Sometimes salads are too complicated and the ingredients overwhelm each other. Not here--they are very balanced and most importantly, always very fresh. That's what has kept me coming back. Also, their items seem very healthy.
