This is one of your standard divey type kbars to drink at. There are a good amount of tables in the space along with seats at the bar. There is also a separate area with more loungey types of seats. Lights are obviously dimmed with a "bleu" tone and there's a huge screen in the middle of the bar playing all kinds of music videos from hip hop to kpop. It's like a smaller Gaam. My friends and I came here to pre-game before heading out to a club. We ordered yogurt soju (so good!), soju, and a few hite beers. Want to make sure you really get to where you want? Order the Apollo 13 at the bar. Service for us at the time wasn't awful. You definitely need to wave them down if you want anything but they were always quick to bring out whatever we needed after we got their attention. The valet/parking is a total nightmare - $2. Gets really packed and crowded but truth be told, anywhere on 6th street around this area with all the bars will be impossible to find parking on weekend nights. So last night was my first time at Cafe Bleu and wow It was so nice. The interior was nice and open. Its more like a lounge with sofas and tables and big projector screens and then there's the bar. There's a pretty large selection of liquor to choose from and the beer menu has all my favorites too! My bartenders name was Christina and she was super nice! She made sure I had everything I wanted/needed and she even helped suggest drunken tacos lol they were amazing. (Try the kabli tacos *drool*) All in all it's a really nice bar, the food is good, it gives off good vibes and the service is on point. I'm happy I found it. 10/10 would go again read more

It was getting late and we were looking for a bar to hang at in Koreatown. We stumbled upon Cafe Bleu and decided to check it out. It is definitely a lounge set up. They had nice comfortable areas for groups of people to chill in. The 3 of us decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was awesome and willing to try making anything as long as he had the ingredients. We ended up chilling here for a couple of hours. My lemon drop cocktail was delicious and all the beer was great. I used to come here pretty often. Had my last birthday here and my birthday this year. I loved the bartenders and the waitresses were cool. But the owner showed he doesn't give two shits about his loyal customers on my birthday of all days. There was an insanely drunk guy that was being aggressive towards our 10+ person group. We told the owner. The drunk guy left for a few. He comes back of course, multiple times. When there's a belligerent fool in your place bothering customers, a normal owner would kick that person out. But no, the owner let my night dwindle away because he couldn't get off his lazy ass to tell this idiot to leave. It was a good run, Cafe Bleu. Cafe Bleu is a great place to watch sports. They will always have the major sporting events on the big screens.. Think Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers, and the TROJANS!!! (YaY, go TROJANS!!!!) I cant decide if its a 3 or a 4 so I am going with 3 because parking here is a bitch. I didnt have any of their food so realize this review doesnt cover that... However it does cover the ambiance, the service and the drinks. The whiskey's were normally priced, but very limited in nature. As with most Asian bars that I have been to, they have significantly more scotch options than most places. Disappointing was the fact that the normal dbl oz on the rocks was a 1.5 on the rocks here for about the same price. It was also disappointing to see the stretch factor... but ohh well... what are you going to do, go elsewhere? not after you have fought for a parking space. It was super loud inside as K-Pop and Top 40 kinda music blared from the speakers with random video clips showing via projectors onto the walls. Over the bar was a TV as well. They have a lot of standard restaurant tables and then several low tables in a "living room" type set up. Unfortunately it is not so easy to chat on a Saturday night even thought it was maybe half full. The background noise was very loud and the folks I was there with kept saying WHAT at each other half the time. They had other spots that likely would have been better suited to a conversation, but we were too large to fit in that area. I'm on the other side of the bar to spend money and get intoxicated. That's how a bar works. Your mini skirt will not make me more patient. Your dashing smile will not make my whiskey more potent or a vodka tonic taste sweeter. No. It won't. Being a cute chick doesn't excuse you from providing decent service to your patrons. You may not skimp on the alcohol in my drink. You may not take your sweet ass time getting to the next customer. You may not gather all the other bartenders to help you figure out how to work the credit card machine while I'm waiting to be served. Give me the gray haired Irishman, the Adam Levine wannabe-gone-wrong or the toothless rocker chick with the muffintop as a bartender any day. These people don't rely on their looks to get by. And it's a guarantee that they'll be providing stellar service as merit for deserving a fatter tip. In summary, the bartenders at Cafe Bleu are cute. They are also retarded. Bring a flask or buy a slim bottle of Couvoisier from the 7-11 several doors down. Smuggle it in your pants pocket and casually wander to the set of couches in the lounge area towards the back. I love this place!!! This is probably the only bar in ktown that is a guys bar. This means that it's usually a bunch of guys sitting at the bar and they don't seem to care that there isn't much eye candy. They're just drinking and enjoying a game or chatting up the bartender. I personally love this place because it's chill and the food is great. I've watched quite a few games here... mostly Lakeshow, superbowl, big mma and boxing matches and the vibe is lively. Just a quick tip.... for big games, call ahead and reserve a table because this place gets PACKED. On to my favorite.... the food! Everything I have tried here is delicious. Some of my favs are: Tacos: I usually get the regular beef tacos but I've tried the chicken and galbi ones too. YUMMMM Ham and Egg sandwich with fries (random choice but pretty legit!) Came here on a first date. I thought that it was ideal for this due to the dim lighting, cool booth seating, and selection of delicious and reasonably priced menu items. I got a rum and diet, which was good, and fried calamari, which was also good. There was a lot of fried calamari and it was less than $10. I came on a week night and it wasn't too crowded, not sure how it gets on the weekends. There is bar seating, booth seating, and table seating, so there are plenty of options. I really like this place. It's got a great happy hour until 8:30pm and is one of the rare places in ktown that has a full bar. They've got a $99 Maker's Mark special which is a good deal, especially compared to Gaam across the street. It's also the perfect place to watch the game since they have a huge projector as well as a few big screens. I took one star off because of the service. When there was only one waitress for the entire bar I went up to the bar to get a drink. I thought the bartender would be nice since he seems to enjoy having his pictures on Yelp and stuff but even when he wasn't really busy he ignored me and was busy trying to push off handling credit cards to the waitress. I honestly felt bad for her. Our group felt sorry for not making a reservation so we were gracious even if we waited 40 minutes for one drink because the lone waitress was clearly trying her best. There was also a drink dropped and though they replaced it at no charge, it took the waitress probably 15 minutes to clean it up. I'm giving it 5 stars since: 1) It's really one of the only real bars in Ktown. 2) White people feel welcome. 3) Black people feel welcome. 4) Other Asians feel welcome. 5) There's rarely violence, drunken idiocy, or "uncomfortably Korean situations" there ...even with all these other ethnic people rolling up. WTF? This is a bar and everyone seems to be writing about the food. The food is the condiment to the drink in a bar so I'll begin by clearly displaying the angle I'm writing from. Bleu is probably the only real BAR in Ktown. A lot of places will claim to be a bar but they're more of a lounge, an open space for private parties (until a drunken brawl starts), or some weird place where no one is a regular and everyone there seems to be meeting the person they're having an affair with or a private eye who they've hired to bust their other. Cafe Bleu has always been a bar and that's why I enjoy it. It's mellow and rarely overcrowded. The people there are civil and it's not often there's a confrontation of any kind. They have good prices for drinks, their bottle service is tops and they don't "lose"bottles. Their food is decent and better than average, and they have a large selection of snacks and booze. It was probably the first liquor sipping joint in Ktown to have Casadores, Casa Nobles and other decent tequilas. I know they were the first to serve multiple single malts like Oban, McCallan, etc and the only bar that really put in any effort to order what customers requested. It's not a pick up joint, although it happens. It's mostly a place where a few friends gather to have a few drinks, catch up and relax over MMA, a Laker's game, or just a easy going night. I read a few of the regulars complaints about the scene changing and yeah, I agree that the crowd is different, but it's still a decent place and still the only real bar in Ktown. Where else are you gonna go? It's still a "home away from home" for a lot of the people who've been going there for years. Even those of us who don't go out as much anymore. They've been one of the few places where even the most ghetto, militant, black panther card carrying-friends and country-banjo playing-redneck-ass friends of mine have felt welcome (not together of course). read more

Any way, back to the review, I love the food here. Every time I come here I order the kimchi pasta. It has seafood in it and yummy chunks of kimchi in an Alfredo cream sauce! Their nacho fries are bomb too.. As well as their chicken wings! Come here for happy hour!! It's definitely worth the price and come any time for the kimchi pasta, it's not on the happy hour menu but it's well worth the price. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for some football and sausages. For a place that touts itself as a late night lounge, it converts into an excellent Sunday football hotspot. There are several giant flatscreens and comfortable couches that you can practically melt into. Good drink specials, including $1 shots for those of you who haven't finished the Saturday night festivities. I tried the garlic fries, sweet potato fries, and spicy sausages. [insert inappropriate joke here] The garlic fries were delicious and covered with garlic. The sweet potato fries were toothpick thin and crunchy. The sausages were hands down delicious. I'm afraid to use any adjectives because they'll only serve as fodder for some dirty jokes. Ok, I'll say, Best Sausages Ever. Single-handedly pulled the rating up from four to five. Cafe Bleu is a very chill place if you wanted to just grab a drink, mingle with friends and listen to music. I actually like the music here as they don't only just play Korean songs like other establishments. Not a place to dance but, you can bob your head ever so slightly. Being less hectic than Gaam (across the street), I always suggest this place if friends (not from k-town) choose Gaam (which they always do) to go hang out in. They usually end up preferring this place better. The bottle combo specials is worth it if you have a large group It's located right at the corner of the 7-11 parking lot. The vibe is cool and the staff seem all laid back. Garlic Fries are unearthly savory and delicious. Just be prepared for some vampire-slaying breath. Get them especially when you and your friends are drunk because they get better by seven-fold. Tacos are pretty good too. I usually go watch some NFL games or NBA games here, which is around happy hour. Only bad thing here is that I've seen some fights go down outside and there is spit everywhere where people smoke. In my opinion the ONLY spot in K-Town, that's genuinely "K-Town" without needing to know how to speak Korean, or have your Korean buddy get you in and order for you. EVERYONE in K-Town comes here, and for good reason. It's a classy spot that's clean with great ambiance. Drink prices are fair, bottles are relatively cheap here, and the happy hour has some great deals on drinks and food and it even extends till 8:30 pm on weekdays. The food isn't quite Gastropub status, but it's really solid. I especially love the Kogi Tacos, Garlic Fries and the Spicey Wings. The plaza Bleu is located in is kinda sketch; sure. But you can say the same thing about any place in K-Town. Sometimes fights go down, but whatever, man. That just means people are drinking and having a great time. So don't be a pussy. A great venue for a quick drink, happy hour, late night Soju debauchery, and more. It gets really ratchet on Friday and Saturday nights, too! Will definitely come back. read more

Probably because anyone can just go up to the bar and get their drinks rather than there being one large tab at the end which usually leaves the few sober people paying for most of the bill... Whenever I feel like going out on a Thursday night, I always come here. In my experience, Koreans don't celebrate Thirsty Thursdays (aka college night). When I lived in San Diego, Thursdays were almost as big as Fridays and Saturdays. At any rate, the food here is pretty good. We always get the Hite special where you can choose two things that are under $15. So I've tried a lot of the dishes, my favorites being the spicy pork bbq and special fries. This is actually one of the few fully stocked bars I've seen in Ktown. Crazy I know. I guess the biggest downside is that even though the place fills up on Thursdays, it's mostly full of DUDES. I am adding another star to my original review because of an incident last night. I went to Bleu with some friends to talk. It was packed because of the Pacquiao vs Marquez fight. We got a table anyways. The excitement in here during the fight was pretty good. I used to watch football games here all the time but fight night was something else. We had fun, I took care of the bill. When I got home, there were items that we didn't order added to my bill. This usually makes me mad because shady Korean owners always try to pull a fast one on you. But I called and they said the manager would call me when he got in. I got a call soon after. The manager looked into the matter. He was very polite and apologetic once he realized the error. I am convinced that it was an honest mistake. He remedied the situation immediately. I went here for a Kollaboration Press Release event. It's great to see Asian American talents partake in such an event! I have nothing much to say about the place itself. It's not much of a "cafe" but more of a bar if anything. It does have an ambience, but I've experienced better honestly. PROS: The couches are pretty comfortable, but so is the one at home! (okay, ill be nice). The vallet parking isn't expensive ($2). CONS: The food (fried rice) was a bit heavy on the butter / oil. The salad needed more green other than the iceberg (who uses iceberg these days?). The parking lot is small and you HAVE to vallet unless you park on the streets. Open really late. Yawn. Came on a friday night at 10pm and it was pretty dead; there were just some KTOWN-the-show-esque people who all knew each other. We sat down in a booth and ordered a water melon soju (I've been craving it since Pocha 32 in New York). Watermelon soju was horrible and expensive - tasted and looked like pepto bismol. We couldn't waste alcohol so we struggled to finished all of it before asking for the check. We just wanted to pay and get drunk somewhere else so we asked for the check.
