('',) 3.5 stars to be exact, but I'm rounding up because I am a fan of their YOGURT Soju and BEEF tempura! -- Yogurt Soju: VERY GOOD! As a non drinker, this is the ONLY shot I'll be willing to take, so don't even bother asking me to drink. Thank you, come again! --- Peach Soju: YUM! ok, I lied. I'll take a peach soju shot as well. --- Apple Soju: bleh. taste like cough syrup (sorry James, we lied! Great place to hold parties, gatherings, you name it! They're very accommodating to whatever you request. Large space and even has live DJs on Thursdays & Saturdays. Haven't been on a Friday recently - so don't know if there's one that night of the week. Food is actually pretty good for a K-town bar & really cheap for happy hour!!! - Garlic fries (ask for a side of Tabasco!) - Tong dak (whole fried chicken) - Hot wings (w/ Korean spicy sauce on the side to keep the wings extra crispy) - Fried calamari (korean style so not over bready) - Beef tacos (just like Hoover & King Tacos...without the hot sauce but still yum!) Tucked into the corner of a strip mall at 6th and Alexandria, Bleu is quite popular. The bar itself is nice and there are comfy seats, couches and such as well. There's even a little stage for entertainment and the usual TV screens. I came here with some friends who were celebrating the launch of their new website. We slammed the vodka and other stuff, as well as having the obligatory fruit platter. The menu has some good choices. The tacos were also quite good; I believe they have different food specials on different days and there's even a 'Taco Night'. Normally, one wouldn't expect tacos at a Korean joint like this, but that kind of stuff seems to be becoming more and more common in K-town. The staff is nice (and pretty nice-looking, too.......). Cafe Bleu...its unfortunate how NOT busy it is now a days but at least one of the few places in Ktown I can get have a variety of options. Cocktails, soju, or hard liquor. Was K-town always this popping? I feel like I'm missing out, but thank god I discovered this little strip mall gem the other night. It's a cool, spacious, blue-lit lounge, with DJ setups and opportunity for large groups and couples to chill in large booths! The owner is friendly, the bartenders are attractive, and they serve food....I can't attest to its savoriness, but I know it smelled all sorts of good! Especially the garlic bread and seafood paella. The soundtrack is on point, its a great place to watch games, and most of the customers are happy drinkers. And guess what?? Parking in K-town was never easy! Went here with a few coworkers after eating some all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ @ Tahoe Galbi in order to further our drinking escapade on a Wednesday worknight. Isn't that how it is now? Start the weekend earlier and earlier... I can comment on everything besides the food. And it being a Wednesday night it was pretty dead but still had some life, probably the regulars. The service was okay but I think we were being hated on b/c none of us were Korean, although I think I could pass. The reason? We had some cigars (I don't smoke) but they told us we couldn't smoke it when clearly everyone else was smoking. They said we can only some cigarrettes. Can anyone shed light on this? It didn't seem fair to us. Music was mainstream radio. Things you would hear on Power/Kiis/Kday. Can't really comment on drinks b/c we ordered soju, the same bottle that they had back at Tahoe Galbi. As far as decor, maybe I was a bit drunk, but the couch I was lying on was sooo comfortable, esp. their big throwpillows. I wonder how clean, or rather, dirty that was. I better get myself checked. This is hands down my favorite kbar in Koreatown. Whether you are Korean or not, veteran or rookie, on your 1st round or last round, Cafe Bleu is the spot to go. Cafe Bleu is my favorite spot because they have the most reasonable prices for drinks and delicious food combined with the friendliest staff you can possibly find in Koreatown. Last time I went, the owner sat down with us and talked with our party making sure we were enjoying our visit. Although I usually get beer and soju, my girlfriend got their STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI last time and it was one of the best tasting drinks I've had, for real. We had to order another because I drank so much of hers she barely got to drink any. (Sorry!) One of my issues with Korean businesses in Los Angeles is that if you don't speak perfect Korean most places give you 2nd rate service. At Cafe Bleu, all the servers speak perfect English and are the most helpful staff I've had the experience of being served by. All in all if you're a noob to the kbar scene, this is a very unintimidating venue to venture out if you wanna get a taste of what Ktown is like. I highly recommend this establishment. I came here on a Saturday night. Sometimes you don't want to go hard in the paint. This is the place to go if you want to relax, enjoy strong cocktails, and complementary dishes. I haven't been to this place in years but whenever I pass by the place it tends to bring back memories of many drunken week nights of Patron shots after a stressful day at work. The food there is pretty good. I love their bacon wrapped scallops, kimchi pancake, and sweet potato fries. If you order their alcohol by the bottle they provide a plate of anju (appetizer) on the house. I don't know if they still do that considering how long its been since I've gone back but its worth it to ask. And if you don't finish the bottle, they'll save it for a week so you can come back and finish it. To me, this is one of the best places in Koreatown. read more

If you're 19 and wear sneakers with a baseball hat when you go out, this is the place for you Hellen Keller must have been hired to do the interior design in this place, seriously there are couches everywhere, forget about easily walking to the bathroom, you'll have to step over a group of kids that look fresh out of high school puffing vape pens. The friends and I will visit Cafe Bleu on occassion. In my opinion, Bleu is one of the better K-town cafes to go hang out at. Just like every other ktown establishment, the parking at Bleu and is never good...you should expect to valet in Ktown unless youre lucky or extra cheap. The place has actually gotten much nicer since the new manager Daniel took over. Bleu seems to be one of the more fun places to go, and they are usually able to pack the house on friday and saturday nights. They seem to attract a good looking crowd which is mostly a Korean/Asian mix of people...with a few non-korean stragglers. The service at Bleu is excellent, and the staff is attentive to the customers. Bleu also serves Korean and American diner/cafe foods like mini burgers, tacos, Korean fried chicken wings, fried rice, and other munchies. Their food seems to be better than most other k-cafes around town. Bleu is a pretty nice and fun place to go to watch a sporting event, to have bday parties, or just to hang out with the friends. The atmosphere is comfortable, and people actually mingle! There is no indoor smoking, so all the smokers go outside to smoke and mingle. Great place to go drinking or drunk. We always sit in the lounge at the back with magenta walls, comfy red velvet sofas and large fluffy leopard print pillows. There are flat screens mounted on both ends of the lounge and there's usually a game on. The boys appreciated this. Drinks: They have lots of differently flavored soju. Peach and melon are both good. You can't taste the alcohol and that makes it dangerously delicious. There's also a good selection of beers, vodkas etc. They even give you flasks of different mixers to allow you some DIY freedom. Cafe Bleu is the Korean gastropub. Food here is a great accompaniment to the liquor: Garlic fries are majestic. They bleed garlicky goodness. Pa Jun/Korean pancake is chewy and homey. Fried chicken! Can't go wrong here. Juicy fried succulence. Kalbi- Sweetly marinated tender beef. Atmosphere is chill, service has always been extremely friendly and quick. Valet is $2. Love it! read more

The drinks are weaksauce (tried margarita and vodka tonics), but I didn't come for the drinks. My friend said she was hungry and told me to meet her there. Why Cafe Bleu of all places? She said the tang soo yook was good and she liked their kimchee bokeumbap. She was right. I was surprised a place like this had decent food. This is the worst place for Happy Hour. I meet my friends there at 5:30PM and we are 3 of 5 patrons in the whole bar. The server says we cannot order liquor because the bar tender won't be there until 6PM. That is fine so we end up ordering beers. Admittedly, the garlic fries were pretty good, served warm and has that right crispness and garlic flavor. The tacos were gross because they served cold as if they took the carne asada out of the refrigerator and put it on tortillas. I order the mini-burgers. And then I wait. And wait. And wait. More patrons start to fill the bar and I am noticing they are getting their food before I got my mini-burgers. In fact, I notice everyone besides my party is being visited by the server. My friends wanted martinis and tried everything short of set the place on fire to get the attention of the server. I grow so frustrated that I walk up to the bar to order the martinis myself. Meanwhile the server walks by me two or three times without saying a thing knowing full well that I was now doing his job serving drinks. To top it all off people start smoking in the bar and I just want out. The bill comes and now the server is paying all his attention on us to make sure we pay the bill. Gaam's known to be THE place to be, but I rather much prefer Cafe Bleu. It's across the street, and it's better than Gaam because: 1) It's way less crowded 2) It's definitely not as loud -- you can actually hear what the person next to you is saying, and you can actually speak in your indoor voice to be heard! 3) The waitresses actually care about you -- they checked up on every so often and MOST IMPORTANTLY, 4) They have BOMBASS garlic fries and WATERMELON SOJU. Whoot!! Watermelon soju is hardly served anywhere (it's usually just the original, peach, or strawberry), but they have it here! It's not served in a watermelon, but hey, I'm not complaining. Price is a bittt steep - it was $13.99 for a small/regular, which is about 8 "shots" each, whereas other places like Gaam is about $11.99. Garlic fries though, were bombbb and that's why they're known for them! The fries are steak fries, and were perfectly crisp on the outside, and mushy on the inside. Mmmmmmm. Nice selection of alcohol and an extensive whiskey bar. The food is more than bar food and the staff is great! This is one of the longest standing bars in Koreatown and is more of a sports bar rather than a grimey hostess bar. The only reason I come to Koreatown is to eat and the occasional bday at Cafe Bleu. This place makes some strong ass drinks!!! I got an amf and i literally thought i would go adios. I never tasted this strong amf in my life!!!!! literally!!!!!!!! All my life (well , im still in my early 20s) i've been used to the watered down amf from clubs! But not only the amf, my friend's drinks were also pretty stiff. Cafe Bleu is awesome! This place is a good example of bars that stay in business because they take care of their customers. There are bars in K-town that are shady and take advantage of drunk or non-Korean customers, but not Cafe Bleu. When we walk in, we're greeted by the bartenders and the waitress. This place is more Americanized since all the workers speak English. One of the rare places in K-town where customers don't smoke indoors, which is good for the non-smokers. The waitress who served us was very nice and attentive. She works fast and we got new rounds of drinks right away. The 2 bartenders working that night were pretty hot. They had great personalities to go with their looks. I've never been to the happy hour but I hear it's pretty bomb. It seems like a good place to watch the game. Drink prices are pretty good. I ordered henny/coke the whole night, but decided to go with henny on the rocks. It was the same price as the henny/coke! Sweet! Plus we got free garlic fries. The tacos were pretty good too. We ended up here to watch the WBC final. I have to disclaim this review as I am a bit biased because I went to college with the owners and I know them well. First, this is not your typical Korean bar. The owners tried to create a Hollywood lounge like atmosphere. I would say good job. Now, lets get to the service. I've only recently dared to venture K-Town's nightlife, but, armed with my younger (more experienced) companions, I'm starting to open my slanted eyes to a whole new world... I actually found this place comfortable (physically-with it's plush seating and in vibe), with an efficient and energetic staff. Plenty of "talent" at this place if you into pretty Korean girls. It's also pretty ritzy for the area. If I were you, I'd order some easy drinks (beer selection isn't great) and then ease your way into other groups. The food isn't bad. If I were you, I would definitely get the garlic fries, even if they're frozen fries, because they saute loads of real garlic and give that to you. It's pretty hard to flag down someone to help you, so be aggressive. They have plenty of other food options too, so come for drinks, girls, or food. read more

Come to think of it, Bleu has been around for a while. The parking situation blows. They share the valet lot with all the other restaurants and shops including 7-Eleven. Good luck with street parking because it's almost impossible at times. One night I was cruising in the area, already liqoured up from a nearby bar. I cruised over to two other bars right in this area and both didn't want to serve us because they were closing (1 something am). I strolled into Bleu and saw that people were still rushing the bar. That basically made my night. Simple and straight to the point. Packed with loud music (mostly Korean) blasting away. Came here this past week with several other Yelpers for happy hour. We were a group of five and were seated immediately around 7 p.m. Happy hour ends at 8. The HH menu is very expansive - there are a lot of choices, which is nice. I ordered the fried calamari and got a "bleu" berry mojito. The mojito was only five dollars. My friends ordered the nachos, dukbuki, seared beef, and we also split an order of the wings. The wings were 10 for $5, which is a steal, and the rest of the menu is reasonably priced too. I liked the calamari, but my complaint is that the pieces weren't very big, and they don't give you that many pieces. Sometimes I felt like I was eating just fried batter. The plate size compared to the other dishes was a bit disappointing, too. And this isn't just a $5 dish. The nachos were standard, as were the seared beef and dukbuki. The blueberry mojito was too sweet and and too much ice - tasted more like syrup than any cocktail. The wings were decent, although some of the pieces seemed irregularly sized - it's hard to complain if it's only $5. Overall although the prices are great, the food was not near any wow factor for me. Service: The waiter was kind of hard to get ahold of. You sometimes really had to work to flag them down. This was the case even though they weren't super busy - they just seem kind of oblivious and understaffed. Bottom line: An A-OK reasonably priced HH in Koreatown. read more
