I had attended a pitch my friend event at this bar, and was convinced on my unofficial visit that I must return and officially engage with the environment and props of this home-down like bar. Why? I am told that one has not truly lived until they have yee-haw-ed in genuine response to a cowboy cannon event, for instance riding a bull hard and not falling on the mat or having the right beer in hand while lassoing the right heifer. It looked like a fun place to have a drink because it embraced the cowboy themed hard and had some Dave and Buster like games around. It was easy to see how someone could have a good time in this place so I wanted to join in the fun and tumbleweeds. My friend Conrad and I had just eaten in a nearby Korean eatery. And for those who know Korean eateries, one knows that they can easily lead to a food coma, if not food stupor. And I could not imagine a better place to mosey a food come along to its end, than while I sprawled on hey stacks. When Conrad and I arrived it was early. Like a few people were there but there was no crowd or bounce. I ordered a Buckin Bull, a house classic drink. And it was good enough that through out the night I had three more. I really cannot describe the drink in specific detail, like it flavors note to a descriptive degree. Rather I offer that it was smooth and clear in its kind of subtle bubble gum taste. Not sure why I landed there, but, that is what I kind of tasted, a dull yet lovely sweetness. I took my drink to one of their couches, where the strings lights are. The place transported me to multiple places that are all made better by the glow of twinkle lights on strings. I was in a Texas backyard feeling summer heat while critters hid under a broken pick-up. I was at a Baiyou, in a grassy plane next to swamp water hearing jokes told in Cajun tongue. I was at a place where banjo music lofted, cicadas hummed, and a summer breeze was cut. I understood why people who live in small towns do not need much more than a drink and the night to have a good time. Relaxing, looking at the string lights was a practiced that slowed time to a pleasant still. Conrad was not finding the peace of the moment, he wanted to play games. We knocked some clowns down, I played connect four against a digital player and got served. He and I settled on a Jurraissic park games. We had plenty of tokens, and we sat there and tried and tried to beat a triceretops from throwing us off a cliff, but we could never stop its charge. Our jeep fell of the cliff time and again. But it was fun trying to stop the triceratops. Especially when feeling good from the liquor of the place. The games do not break the Cowboy reality of the place, they make it better for the space is a themed bar that expands on its theme to satisfy different customers. This I think is strategic, rather than betraying the vision in boots. At nine on Saturdays this place has line dancing. We happened on this happy coincidence. So, Conrad and I then sat in hay and viewed professional line dancers practice their craft. It was fun to see them practice. The line dancing was not corny. It had energy and surprising movement. People did not do-si-do, but they did slide electrically. It was different than what I expect to do in LA, but also not. Like there would be a bar in Koreatown where line dancing occurs alongside bar games that border on the childlike and peer kitsch. It all worked not because it was so random, but because it became something collective that could be understood by many as a whole experience, not, a series of cowboy parts. I did try line dancing but it felt weird because I felt everyone had some experience with the process of line dancing. So I felt out of step with everyone. Still, I tried. This place also has a second floor. Conrad and I sat there while it was black. Meaning it had no lights. They have a balcony too. So there is a lot to do in this place and easily lends itself to a good time. Maybe one day I will ride the mechanical bull. Insane perhaps. But needed for a complete life. Yes. read more

TRUST ME JUST GO! This place is a reliable fun time. There's always something going on like arcade games, card/board games available, line dancing, and even a MECHANICAL BULL so it's real easy to stay entertained no matter what kind of mood you're in. I've taken my man here for date night and gone with friends but honestly I could go here by myself and still have a good time (coming from an anxious person). I also like that there's an upstairs balcony for when I need a quieter spot to step away for a bit. The bartenders, Alex and Taezon, were the highlight for me. They were running the bull the times when I went and they were hilarious, friendly and easy to talk to. Made the whole experience feel welcoming and low-pressure which made it easier to enjoy the moment. They were so cool I wanted to get their names so I hope they get recognition for all the work they do. Genuinely my favorite bar in LA. If you're looking for a certified good time, you need to check Eastwood out. Visited a couple times, and each visit has been incredible. The employees are all incredibly friendly and do a great job explaining all the fun activities here. The entrance to the bar feels like a Western film set. When you step into the bar, it's like you're walking into a completely different world. I love the cowboy theme so much. There's even a mechanical bull! You definitely will not be bored here because there are a plethora of things to do. First, the dance floor is always so fun. There are line dancing classes and plenty of enthusiastic dancers. The music is so good and very diverse - I've heard throwback hits, country music, cumbia, and more. Next to the dance floor is a vintage photo booth for cute photo strips. There's a whole section of arcade games, like basketball and air hockey. If you want to take your own photos, there's a ton of fun decor and cute backgrounds. My work had our holiday party here. It was chosen purely for the games we got to play. I was smart enough to carpool with some coworkers. We rolled 5 deep and ended up getting lucky finding street parking. We took over one corner - the area by the entrance. Our party was so large we couldn't all place our orders at the same time. The folks at the bar took our orders in 10 min increments. I'm assuming because there was nearly 50 of us. Each of us had a card with enough points to play a ton of games. I ended up playing the ones I'm familiar with to keep it safe. Food wise, I ordered the burger. Didn't get to partake in their libations as I'm currently not imbibing. Also got to try the wings and pretzel. The service was good. Our orders came out fairly quick. Staff were nice and friendly. A huge plus is how spacious the place is. Who thought a western/cowboy saloon type bar would be needed in koreatown?! Honestly went this past weekend and it was pretty fun. The venue is bigger than I thought and split into a line dance section, an electronic bull riding station ($5), and the main bar with some arcade games. There are reserved tables so if you have a larger party and want a guaranteed table, it's better to go that route, but since it wasn't that packed that day, we were able to grab a table fairly easy. For the drinks, pretty well stocked bar. There are some specialty cocktails available and they were not bad, but mostly on the sweeter side. Few beers on draft. My experience at Eastwood was amazing. I went on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. To start off the staff was amazing, so friendly from the moment we walked in. We even had a situation and a security guard handled it gracefully. Food was awesome. We ordered the tater tots and nachos and were surprised by how good they were. Drinks were also good, too strong for my liking (said no one ever lol). I enjoyed the ambiance and being able to play games with all my friends on my birthday. It's a great default option for a relaxing drink in Koreatown, with good vibes and a ton of space. I've also discovered, in a super K-Town turn, that one of the founders of Eastwood is the first cousin of two of my best friends, and we used to run into him at Cercle circa 2008. Eastwood is a western bar on Western, a country-themed joint in the heart of the densest neighborhood in the second-largest city in the United States. There's a cute speakeasy-style entrance, through what looks like a general store lined with boots and cowboy hats. Then, a cavernous bar and restaurant with a ton of seating, plus an arcade and a giant back room for parties and other events. There is apparently line dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, if that's your jam. I've had a bunch of drinks here and have been very pleased with the cocktails. The Cactus Queen is an excellent margarita with Cazadores reposado, prickly pear, lime, habanero bitters, and Tajin. Fruity with a nice kick. The Thirsty Horse is another fantastic margarita variation, with Lobos joven, lime, hibiscus, white grapefruit, and black salt. The Oh Darlin' is a refreshing gin drink made with Hendrick's, cucumber, kiwi, and lemon. There's plenty on the whiskey side, too, including the boozy, smooth Buckaroo, made with Traveller whiskey, pecan liqueur, and orange bitters. It's been a long time since my Cercle days, and I'm glad there's still a place for me to drink on Western. I'll be back to Eastwood whenever I need an easy cocktail spot in Koreatown. read more

Eastwood is a vibe. Came for girls night Friday night. We had a 7:30pm reservation so we could eat before the games and line dancing. There was no line so we walked right in. The place was pretty quiet at that point. We ordered a Cactus Queen, Thirsty Horse, and Golden Hour which were all delicious!! We also ordered a burger (lettuce wrapped) and fries. Burgers are never great on lettuce but the truffle fries and regular fries were delish. By the time we finished eating it was probably 9pm and it was super busy but I didn't notice lines to play any of the games. We all had a blast and the arcade games were great. Shots seem to be doubled here, which is nice, and the glasses are a nice size. Decent prices for the drinks, and you get a good pour. I will say that you will be waiting a bit at the bar as it can be crowded in that area and take a bit to get to the front. But once there the bartenders are attentive and quick. I also LOVE that there are WATER stations throughout the club so you don't have to keep waiting at the bar just to get a drink of water. SO SMART. The Mechanical bull is fun. Only $5 to ride, and the fall area is super soft and feels safe. The dance floor line dancing area is really fun. I enjoyed the music. It was a nice mixture of country with some other genres, but mainly country--as it should be. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Didn't try the food on this visit but it smelled delicious lol. Main gripe is just that the bar gets a bit too crowded so it can be a minute waiting to order a drink, but other than that it's a lot of fun for a themed bar. I had the daisy dukes, and there was no tajin around the rim, also the flavor seemed off. Their drinks are mediocre. We also ordered food. The regular and truffle fries were good. The wings however, were lacking flavor. We ordered three different flavors and they all were pretty bland. The venue itself is nice but the music and vibes aren't quite there. While we were there we heard some of the songs 2-3 times. The DJ had a few people on the dance floor but it remained empty for the most part of the night. My party wanted to ride the mechanical bull but they were told it was not working. Lastly, the bathrooms started out clean but by 10 there was no toilet paper in half the stalls. Welcome to Koreatown! We visited during their soft opening period. Right off the bat we were greeted with smiles from extremely friendly staff. Everything is clean and looks very nice. The games feel spaced out enough that you should never be on top of others. The mechanical bull riding was so much fun! After you sign a waiver, you get your chance to hold on as tight as you can! This is so unique to Koreatown. We got the chance to chat with the GM and hear about his story and vision for this establishment. We even did a round of shots together! The food menu is pretty limited but it all sounded delish. We did order the bourbon apple churros and they were fabulous! I'll come back just to eat these again. The prices seemed pretty reasonable.
