I'm embarrassed to say I've lived in Belmont for over 22 years and have just tried this restaurant today. I'm not really a breakfast person so that's perhaps why! But today my son and I got some breakfast and lunch to go and I will say it was all super tasty! We definitely will be back! He had the steak and eggs, and then the American breakfast. I've lived in the area for more than 20 years and am always on the lookout for good breakfast and brunch spots on the weekend. Somehow, I completely missed Cafe Bliss until now--and I'm kicking myself for not discovering it sooner! We stopped in for the first time recently, and the experience was wonderful. The staff, which is mainly the family that owns the place, were super friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the personal touch and care they put into running the cafe. The food was excellent. I ordered the corned beef hash, and it was delicious--perfectly seasoned with great flavor. My wife had the chorizo omelet and loved it. The eggs were cooked just right, and I was impressed by the variety of options on the menu. They really seem to cater to every type of diet, which is great to see. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that I've only been once, so I want to return a few more times to make sure the quality is consistent. But based on this first visit, I'm already looking forward to making Cafe Bliss a regular weekend spot. Since I am not that much for cooked breakfasts of which there is a large selection, I love their yoghurt parfait. It looks always nice with the carefully layered creamy yoghurt, granola, and fruit. So good and plenty of it. There is inside and outside seating. Pay attention to the specials blackboard at the entrance! Inside, Cafe Bliss has the feel of a European Bistro. The service is always very friendly and very attentive. As a matter of fact, once we lost track of time, chatting for an hour+, enjoying breakfast and never were given the feeling that we overstayed. i never would have known about this place had it not been for yelp! this cute little cafe is located at the carlmont village shopping center, but it's around the corner facing ralston, so i never would have seen it since i always enter via alameda de las pulgas. note that they only open for breakfast & lunch, 8-1430 daily. the waitstaff appeared to be mother & son and they were super sweet and prompt in taking our orders, presenting our food, and bringing us the bill. i ordered the mediterranean savory crepe, which had eggs, artichoke, eggplant, sundried tomatoes, olives, basil and feta cheese. i requested egg whites and light on the cheese for a healthier option. i also opted for salad on the side in lieu of potatoes. my plate was beautifully presented and it also tasted great! healthy, but very filling! the thin crepe was filled with lots of fresh veggies, and just a bit of cheese, as i requested. i probably could have eaten two of these, they were so delicious! the salad was just the right size for a side salad and it was so pretty, with the specs of tomatoes and red dressing (guessing something vinaigrette since it was tangy). the mother even took a photo for us, upon request, since our friends were dressed up for halloween :) my breakfast experience was well worth the $17.95 (before tax & tip) and i'll definitely be back to try some of their other breakfast options and maybe even lunch. i noticed the beautiful coffee cake sitting on the counter by the register and unfortunately, i was too full to order a slice after my meal...something to look forward to next time! read more

The crew there don't seem to know their way around a breakfast place. The eggs we ordered over medium we're definitely over easy but the problem is, we got an argument when we questioned what is meant by over medium. They happily replaced the egg, over well however. My wrap was too full of potatoes. The bacon was cooked but not warmed up and far from crisp. There is very little personality in this place. They need someone to come in there and lay down the law. OVERALL: Stopped here because Lorenzo's across the street was closed. I never thought to go here and wouldn't go back. Lackluster, expensive food, with no ambiance. FOOD: I had the turkey club, which was not actually a club but just a sandwich. It was $13 I believe, which is very expensive for two thin slices of bread, a slice of tomato, lettuce, turkey, and a piece of bacon. It was served with salad that clearly had a store-bought dressing. Nothing special about any of it but at the very least it satisfied my desire for a sandwich. SPACE: No ambiance. Very dark inside. This is the kind of place you would go to if you wanted a low key and solid breakfast with your spouse or family member on a lazy morning. Overall it was well executed with good yolk texture. Potatoes were crispy. Staff was polite and very attentive, making sure to check every was okay often and reading your body language. I honestly couldn't tease out why the rating isn't higher for this place and I really tried to look for flaws. I can only chalk it up to the fact that many yelpers and perhaps a younger audience may come here expecting an exciting trendy dining experience like something you'd find in San Mateo. (Many of the written reviews also seem to be more than 5 years old.) This isn't that kind of place but it's a solid breakfast just the same. I'm not sure how I noticed that but I'm glad i didn't put it in my mouth. The bacon gets two thumbs up from my dog. For me, the eggs and potatoes were okay. I was disappointed that my toast didn't have butter or an option for butter (I checked the bag multiple times). The place was pretty busy for a late Saturday morning with customers hanging out is the sidewalk/outdoor seating... Good for families and dogs. They were two employees, one cooking and one taking orders, serving and making drinks. My husband's coffee was always refilled and the staff were very pleasant. The place does have a charm to it. Two cons were I thought the prices were a little high, plus they could use an update on their utensils as my fork and spoon were out of shape, and there was a thin but long crack in my mug.
