worst service ever! took 20 min at least for our drinks then another 20 min to get our food order . we got our food but they forgot niece (19mth olds) CHICKEN NUGGETS , so while we are eating she's screaming for food hungry . after 15 min I go ask where's her food . the lady lies to me saying o just in a min , while she's just putting in the order because she forgot . so while we are still trying to eat and get looks because the baby is hungry screaming , 15 mins go by and by this time we're done . she comes over with an extremely hot hot plate, while we are all done we just asked for our bill . we learned they charged extra to literally cut our burrito in half . it was just a terrible experience for ok food . skip this place . read more

Cafe Bravo was overpriced, the food was of unknown origin. The waitress answered that the owners are Mexican. The food is spiced and of Brazilian, Peruvian and Latin American origin. I have never paid $15 for a burrito that didn't seem connected to anything Latin American. Stick to Taco Trucks. They know who they are at Taco Trucks. This food has an identity crisis and covers its insecurities with huge portions of soggy burritos. The service and homemade chips and salsa were the best part of the show. read more

Food is ok and we live in Oakdale so we come here. Very annoyed at the service the day of this post. If you are going to advertise all kinds of deals for the Soccer match then at least have the required amount of staff to handle the non soccer fans just wanting lunch. Just enjoyed our valentines day dinner here and have to say it was by far the best steak I've enjoyed in Oakdale. Actually the best steak && lobster I've had period. If you go here you have to try the specials. They're not on the menu yet but they should be! The filet mingon melts in your mouth, and the lobster was phenomenal! The service was great, very friendly and hospitable from the hostess to the buss boy! I've been here before and nothing on the menu has ever let me down but my favorites would have to be the coconut shrimp appetizer and the chipotle shrimp enchiladas! Amazing if you haven't been here, try it! You won't be disappointed! read more

The best Latin American food in Oakdale and Modesto area. Not Mexican food only, but a little of everything. So if you just want a good Mexican restaurant, this is not you place. But if enjoy the entire Latin food spectrum this is your new spot. I love the variety of flavors and sauces. A little pricey, but well worth it. Cafe Barfo first of all when we walked in the place smelled like a cat box. Ordered a steak came out about the time everybody else was done eating. My steak was ordered med well, of course it came out raw. On top of that it tasted like shit! Overpriced trash! read more

This is our favorite restaurant in town. Service is always great. Staff is super friendly and quick to fix anything that isn't quite right. Food is great. I didn't really care for the "mexican food" at this place. I ordered the fajitas and it was a plate filled with veggies and about 4 peices of meat. The flavor also doesn't have the spices of real mexican food. My husband ordered a burrito which was quite large and he liked it, but it still isn't the same as authentic mexican food. read more

We have been here many times, but have not been in a while since we live about an hour away in Twain Harte. Went to Modesto to do some shopping and made another stop. Better than I remembered!! Service is good, and food is so flavorful. I wouldn't say it's traditional Mexican, but it takes many of the traditional mexican flavors and adds a twist. Love this place! Me and my boyfriend come here all the time. Try the Chipotle Melanesia in a burrito, not on the menu but it is SO GOOD. The chicken mole enchiladas are also one of my favorite things here, very different from normal enchiladas. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. On the way home from Yosemite. What a great find! Wonderful Tex-Mex. Flavorful and ripe produce. Nicely grilled meat, good use of fresh herbs, more than adequate portion size. My family and I decided to come by to have some dinner. The last time I came here was about 8 years ago, it wasn't bad. But this visit for me was a disappointment. I ordered the combination entrée with chicken carne and shrimp. I was expecting it to be very good, but it needed some more love. It looked like they just slapped everything together in a few minutes and served it to me. Our server was very nice! Will not be back again.. just one word of advice to the owners get a cook that cares about what they put on the plate. read more

We come from Modesto to eat here, i know it's not a long drive but we have endless latin restaurants here and we ditch them all for Cafe Bravo! The food is simply amazing. Shrimp enchiladas with Chipotle is probably the best dish imo. read more

We had been frequenting Cafe Bravo for months with friends and family. In June I was charged for 3 beers and I had only 2. I questioned the server and she returned 15 minutes later and I was accused of lying because the manager had reviewed the VIDEO TAPE of our table. I keep very good track of how many beers I have because I am the driver. I don't like being called a liar and I don't like being videotaped. read more

We pull the two-year old and three-year old kids out of the car on a Saturday night and walk up to the hostess. We are very hungry, and we are looking forward to dinner. It looks busy, but not busier than I'd expect for a Saturday night. The lady tells us there are no seats available. I figured that would be the case, so I smile and say "That's fine", and she repeats in broken English, "There are no seats". My wife then says, "We don't mind waiting until something opens up," and the hostess says, "No, you cannot wait. There are no tables available." We look at her like we can't believe she is saying we have to leave. Since her English is spotty, we figure we misunderstood. As it turns out, she really meant we could not wait for a table. It was 7pm. Am I missing something here? She told us to leave! So, we pack up the kids and head off to one of the other 25 Mexican food restaurants in town. With so many Mexican food places, you'd think they'd be a little more courteous to people. Eat somewhere else. We sure will from now on. read more

My experience with Cafe Bravo yesterday was the deal breaker for me to never come back to this place. The server Wendy W. was more focused at the bar area with her friends then she was tending to our table. I ask for some sour cream once my meal was served and was not told that for a spoon full size I would be charged $1.75 for it. There are no condiment prices (EXTRAS) in the menu. The waitress should have stated that there was an additional charge! She was more tuned into her friends at the bar. We complained about her and asked that the $1.75 be removed. I was then told by Wendy W. that I must pay my bill or she will call the police!@#$%^&* (FUNNY , I NEVER SAID THAT I WOULD NOT PAY THE BILL, I just wanted the sour cream that was not disclosed to be removed! I asked to speak to the owner, he said that he does not have to disclose that there are additional fees in the menu or at the table, he can charge what ever he wants, IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE DISCLOSED??? He stated that I should be Happy to receive the free chips and salsa provided! ( I WONDER IF HE IS AWARE THAT MOST MEXICAN RESTAURANTS GIVE CHIPS AND SALSA FREE OF CHARGE??) Word of mouth is a powerful thing, shame on this establishment for it's below par customer service and gratitude that it shows it's patrons, after all we are the ones that make or break a restaurants business! read more
