We keep coming back here! It's now a ritual Sunday before football starts . We now get breakfast burritos and coffee. As always the staff is great and helpful with your order and questions. Had high hopes for this place. Wait time was INSANE. I get they're not fast food, but an hour to get our food is crazy. Staff was not professional when asked for update on order. People that ordered after us got their food first. Asked a few times for update and staff was rude. One worker had the nerve to say we had not been waiting that long. Another customer that arrived way after us even told us on his way out, now that you're no longer hungry you get the food. There's other places with better customer service. read more

Giving it a 2/5 due to service and food management. While being there I noticed multiple health code violations. Cross contamination while cooking on the stove, scooped items from one pan to another. Open to-go food containers on counter top next to cleaning items Cashier was touching the cash register, money and then grabs a muffin (no gloves, tongs, or pastry bag) and walks it over to microwave. The perfect breakfast burrito does exist! I asked for a breakfast burrito without all the fillers (rice, beans or potatoes), they nailed it. It had veggies, egg and ham. Light and the perfect size. The hot sauce has a good kick. Their cafe de ola is delicious, even offered iced. They have offerings like choco flan and other pastries. Highly recommend swinging by this spot. read more

Walked in and was greeted immediately from the crew here. It was a hot day so I got the Horchata Frappe and let me telllll you. PERFECTION. Perfect combination of sweetness and cinnamon. Great pick me up for the middle of the day and the medium size was a bang for your buck. Place gives me authentic coffee shop vibes with vaulted ceilings and Spanish style furniture around the walls. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I was so happy to find out that Cafe Canela was still open when I recently moved back to Lynwood. I first started going when they first opened when I was 15 years old an am now 39. I brought my fiancé and he loved it! He became a regular and would go often without me. The last time he went, he stated he overheard the baristas call him a 'maricon', which means fa**ot, in English as they made his drink. They thought he didn't understand Spanish and he was so upset when he told me the story when he got home. He asked me what that word meant, just to be sure because of how in disbelief he was. Never in my life have I been to an establishment that was so bigoted and unprofessional to a HUMAN BEING and in front of their face. This is so upsetting because I was so happy to introduce an old favorite coffee shop of mine and were looking forward to having little dates there. Management, please do better on the hiring process and ensure this type of behavior never happens again. read more

I been coming to Cafe Canela for a long time, and the ladies that work there are always very nice, I love the Champurrado, all the food that I have tried is always delicious, fresh and made to order, I usually get the torta de pierna, chilaquiles , molletes and the cafe de olla is really good!! read more

Stopped by because I really like and support this local gem. Sunday morning around 9:30. Line was long. Service was fairly quick and cashier friendly. I ordered a chorizo burrito . I'm not sure if this is grease or butter or moisture, but. It makes for a messy experience. This has happened before. Last time, they drained the filling before putting into the tortilla. I know Cafe Canela reds these reviews... Can you please drain the filling before putting it in tortilla? Otherwise an overall great experience. read more

Customer service is great here. On my 1st visit the coffee was okay but started to get too sweet for my liking after a few sips. Decided to give it another try on my next visit and it just was not it. I do plan on coming back and hopefully give a better review based on the food because everything is literally made to order and looks like your abuelitas cocina. Brought my dad here for his first time and boy was it a horrible experience. The delay. The wait. The food. Just was not worth it. I really love the hibiscus tea and my dad did also say he enjoyed his smoothie however, when we ordered the cashier took the money and then said it'll be a 20-25 min wait, in which myself and dad agreed to. Fast forward 12:33 we barely receive our food. Our food was really cold. It took about 45-55 mins for them to bring our food. COLD food. The waitress who brought our food kept rushing in, and didn't provide 2 utensils. We ordered two plates which we should've gotten 2 to begin with, my dad then got her attention and asked for a spoon and she gave him a fork. The tables were not wiped off. The food and drink were amazing. I got chilaquiles and a cajeta iced coffee. The wait time was not bad at all. They even brought my food to my table outside. The ladies working there were nice. Although, I will say that I asked for my food "for here" and it was still served in a box. Not a big deal because I was alone. However, I did notice a family in front of me sitting down waiting for their food and their food was also served in boxes. Again, not a huge deal to me because I was alone but if I went with family plates would have been nice not sure if they offer plates. All in all, I'd definitely go back. read more

I will be coming back for that horchata latte! It was one of a kind. I also ordered a bacon breakfast burrito. It was very fresh and loaded! I was full with just one half of the burrito. The only thing it was missing was salsa. They only had 1 type of salsa which was VERY hot, so if you wanted a slight kick you would be out of luck. Same thing goes for the wifi, they won't give it out. And even if you're a paying customer, you still have to put a quarter in to use the restroom; which I find ridiculous. However, the surrounding area makes up for anything that could be wrong with it. It definitely feels like a piece of Mexico got ripped out and plugged into Lynwood haha read more

The best chilaquiles I have had in years. It was so full of flavor with every bite. The tortillas on the side were a nice touch to make a lovely little taco of beans, eggs, and a fried tortilla marinated in delicious sauce. The cafe de olla was the perfect mix of coffee and sweetness and I appreciate that they had an almond milk option! I cannot wait to keep telling people to try this place and taking more people. Came for breakfast. First time here, and would definitely recommend. I had the huevos a la mexicana, and She had the chilequilles both came with a side of beans and tortillas. Simple but delicious. They have a large selection of coffees and atoles, So i ordered a small cup of cafe de olla and champurrado. Both were flavorful. They have unique drinks to offer and they're delicious! My hubs had Atole de Cajeta and I had a Champurrado. The service was okay. I wanted the Atole de Fresa but they didn't have any and when I asked the lady HOW sweet the Atole de Cajeta was she just said "sweet." . The cafe was super cute though. The beans were cold and lack a bit of flavor the Chilaquiles were ok the texture and presentation was spot on, but lacked a bit a flavor as well. My co-worker has the breakfast burrito and he said it was Horrible. He also had coffee and said it was cold, all I had was water. The customer service was decent and the place was nice and clean. Not sure that I would come back again. The prices were not too bad.

The drink was the perfect temperature- it was hot enough so I could blow into it and not so hot that it would burn my tongue. I also ordered a raspberry, white chocolate and cashew cookie to share with my fam once I got home. Yes, we were able to share and enjoy 1 cookie. It was delicious. We've never had anything like it. Their theme is Friends and being a fan of the show, I think there is potential to get more creative with their decor. I do like that they have books and boardgames for their guests. They also keep the music level down making the coffee house a very cozy place. I want congratulate Cake and Coffee House for creating a such special menu. I'm looking forward to $5 crepes on Fridays and more yummy drinks from you guys in the near future.

I would have given this place 4 stars if not for a serious issue with communication and attention to detail from the staff. Our waitress was great, but I ordered a soy latte due to lactose intolerance. When the drinks arrived, mine had whipped cream, so I asked for a second one with soy milk and no whipped cream, my fiance kept the first drink. I overheard the waitress clearly repeat the order, but the bartender said they were out of soy milk--and admitted the original drink had been made with whole milk. This was extremely concerning. I was served dairy without being informed, which can make me sick. The waitress was apologetic, but this kind of mistake should never happen. Staff should never substitute ingredients--especially allergens--without communicating with the customer first. If I had a dairy allergy rather than intolerance, this could have been a much more serious situation. This felt careless, irresponsible, and unprofessional. Clear communication about ingredients and substitutions is essential in food service.
