Really nice cafe! Came in here today and I liked it. I ordered the veggie which is organic tofu with potatoes and salsa with bread. It's vegan too. There's only 2 vegan food items btw. My parents got chilaquiles. They regret not getting the veggie because the veggie is really good! For drinks, we got cranberry juice and coke. In total it was $46. It's pricy but it has good vegan options. However when I came in here, unfortunately there wasn't any live music. But there was good vibes. read more

Yummy food! The service was alright. Also, there was a sign that said seat yourself. But they insisted on seating us anyway. Slightly awkward as we were choosing a table and they directed us elsewhere. I had the banana nut bread pancakes with cinnamon butter. I've never seen pancakes come without a side though. That was interesting. Also, they were a bit stingy with the cinnamon butter Anyway, they were really good pancakes! I definitely had a food coma afterwards and had to sleep it off. Service is good, very friendly. I always get the Fat Boy and am never disappointed, I look forward to weekend brunches when I can go to Coda. The only thing that could be improved is the wait time, there is always at least a 30 minute wait on the weekends and some of the rooms are blocked off which doesn't make sense. AMAZING. Amazing. Sorry, did you miss that? Amazing. I went here for brunch over the weekend with some friends, and Café Coda was everything I wanted and more. I was torn between a benedict (which they are known for) and the chilaquiles, and our waiter, James, helped me decide on the chilaquiles. Wow. Just wow. If I lived in Chico, I would eat those chilaquiles every single day. Granted I'd be bigger than a hot air balloon, but it might just be worth it. My friend got the strawberry Nutella French toast, and another friend got the Fat Boy....shocker, both amazing. To top it all off, bottomless mimosas were something like $8?! This is one of my favorite places. It's a great place to meet with my friends. I also enjoying stopping by on my own for a quiet cup of coffee and a bite to eat. The people who create the meals and serve the food are genuine and kind. Oh and I almost forgot the music! Cafe Coda often has live music. Went for breakfast this morning after the great reviews from yelp. Had a pressed coffee and the chilaquiles. The coffee was excellent. The chilaquiles were okay. While the black beans and potatoes did not have a lot of salt, I appreciated that. However, they didn't have any real flavorful spices either. The red chile sauce was fantastic, but there was not much of it on the plate. A little disappointed. Lady had the benedict. Sauce was great and so was the bread. However, potatoes a little bland. This place serves an amazing breakfast! The moment we walked in the door, my husband and I were greeted. The menu has so many great choices that the waiter had to come back twice before we were ready to order. As stated by many other yelpers, the french press coffee is superb! My husband is a tea drinker and had a wonderful pot of freshly steeped tea. He had over 15 varieties to choose from! I ordered the apple oatmeal pancakes. The 'short stack' was 2 HUGE pancakes and I barely ate one. Even the cinnamon flavored butter that topped the pancakes was amazing. My husband had the cranberry orange french toast on fresh Challah bread. Also amazing! The service, food and beverages were all the best! We will be back when we are in town again. read more

There's not enough good things I can say about this place. I remember seeing construction going on before its doors even opened. I thought, "What the heck do these guys think they're doing?" But from day 1, I was humbled. A great vision was carried out from the start...and only improved since. Cafe Coda has a knack for not fixing what ain't broken. At the same time, they care about their customers' experience and are always open to feedback. Menu-wise, they tend to stick with their Greats. Yet they mix it up just enough to make you excited about the next invention. What gets me is the affordability, despite high-quality food! And though I'm an unabashed meat-eating monster, I appreciate their vegetarian and vegan options. Job well done. Let's all go there for lunch a bit more often. read more

Both were delicious.The service was faultless. There is only one thing that I would change. Tried Cafe Coda for the first time, and food was flavorful and fresh tasting. Coffee was delicious. I had decaf, and for it being decaf it was one of the best I've had. French press, great idea. I had the lemon poppyseed pancakes, herb potatoes, and bacon. My partner had the breakfast burrito. Delicious pancakes! Herb potatoes tasted fresh and vibrant. It wasn't too salty or greasy at all. My partner loved his breakfast burrito. He says it was the best yet. Food takes a while to come out, but its worth the wait if the food is made to order and fresh. Service was a little bit slow. Had to sit there for a while waiting for the check to arrive and for it to be picked up again, but I didn't mind as much. Definitely going back to try out their other tasty meals! read more

My favorite breakfast place in Chico! This restaurant is so full of life with all of the families and friends laughing and having a good time. I would give it an A for atmosphere! I usually expect to find this kind of food in bigger cities like SF or Portland because its not just your typical American breakfast food, which makes it special being in a little town. The prices are great and pretty average for any other place you might go in town. If you go at night the pizza is off the hook and they get great bands to play. My partner and I moved to Chico last July, upon discovery of Cafe Coda/Studio we find it extremely difficult to have breakfast anywhere else! The lemon poppyseed pancakes are divine, and the brioche cranberry-orange French toast is so good, I rarely order anything else! Both items are served with the best raspberry purée I have ever tasted, and I will often order a side to take home! Coffee is excellent, served in a French Press with large mugs! I have had several omelette creations as well, all made with garden fresh vegetables, and large portions. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the staff is attentive and very friendly. Do not miss this Chico gem if visiting; and if you're a local, you're probably agreeing 100%! read more

This place is hands down my favorite breakfast spot EVER. The atmosphere is very relaxing and all of the employees are kind and spread good vibes. I usually always get the A-Train and substitute the regular buttermilk with the lemon poppyseed pancakes. It's delicious! The one downfall is that you can pretty much always guarantee that you will have to wait for a table unless you go before 8 a.m. But on the other hand, they provide each table (and those who are waiting) with their own individual french press for coffee. Cafe Coda is my go to spot for sure, great food that you can taste the effort going into. The harvest hash and Athens are my favorite meals here for sure, but the French toast is also super bomb. The only thing I would suggest for the kitchen is a little more seasoning, there was no black pepper on my eggs, which when cooked over-easy tastes better cooked into the yoke. It's a thing I see a lot here in Chico where restaurants are afraid to season food it seems.....incredibly weird to me. Service is always great, with friendly employees and people. Really enjoy this place for breakfast. The only reason for three stars is the price for a CAN of soda, almost $3. It's expected to be that with free refills but not for one can. I can get a draft beer for that. This is my only grip. Really this is my favorite breakfast place. Just be reasonable with a can of soda. Food and service is excellent. read more

I used to love going here with my girlfriend. It was one of two places in town we always got good service. Then just one week the service went bad and never got better. Over about 6 visits the service just got worse and worse. Then one day the service was so bad the waitress was so rude I asked for the manager. We are getting ready to leave and he comes over. I let him know about my background and I let him know his waitress is rude and her service sucked. That busser helped us more then she did. At one point he just started to ignore what I was saying and when I pulled his attention back to me he cut me off chewed me out then left. On our way out we look over and he talking to the waitress and she marches over to us. She stopped us from leaving by getting in our way then chews us out.. She demanded to know what our problem was. WHAT? who does that? She then freaked out on me and started to give me all the details to her personal life. I told her I did not care do you job and if I was your manager I would fire you right now. Her manager just watched her chew me out and cuss at me. I have never been back. The food is good but it is nothing special. It is just a little better then Dennys. I bet if you switched out the food and put it on the hipster plates no one would notice. Another thing is live music. The music is so loud you can not have a conversation with anyone at your table. TLDR: The place is heavy on hipster. You are getting denny's food on a hipster plate. The manager is the type of hipster that thinks he is always right and is a jerk. If you say anything to the manager about the bad service he will confront you and then have waitress confront you. read more

I took my boyfriend there for his birthday, and the waitress charged my credit card the amount for the table next to ours, which had a much higher tab than ours! She overdrew my account and since it was a Saturday I had to wait until Monday to get the bank sorted out and MY ACCOUNT WAS FROZEN the whole weekend... During my Boyfriend's Birthday! Being a waitress for many years myself, I do realize that these things happen, however the owner was not understanding or accomidating at all. He wouldn't return my messages and acted like it was my fault this had happened. I will NEVER go back. read more

Went to breakfast with 5 of my friends today, the food we got was pretty good and the environment of the place overall was upbeat and lively but the service sucked. When we walked in to put our names on the list there was just a piece of paper next to a pen and we had to put our names and number down without being greeted by anyone. After waiting for about 30-45 min for a table a hostess came out and asked if we were willing to squeeze into a 4-seater table then we waited another 5-10 min before being seated. We somewhat expected the wait due to the big group of people waiting outside but we didn't expect such rude and impersonal staff. Our waiter gave us short and rude responses with every question we asked, didn't give us OJ when we ordered mimosas and when my friend asked for a refill while we were talking at the table after paying (and after having to split the check ourselves and him bringing the tab back to rudely tell us we were 47 cents short and walk away only to be gone for another 5 min) he said they don't give refills after the tab is closed. Overall, even though the food was pretty good, the service totally ruined our experience here and we won't be back for a while. read more
