I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Nash Restaurant in Chico today. I came in at 1pm with 7 guests expecting to enjoy lunch together, but the noise level inside was overwhelming. As someone with Autism, loud environments can become physically and mentally unbearable very quickly. I politely explained to two different staff members that the noise was too much for me and asked if there was any quieter seating available. I was basically told the center room was the only option because parts of the restaurant close at a certain time. There was no effort to accommodate sensory needs or even try to help find a solution. Accessibility and accommodation matter. Not everyone experiences environments the same way, and dismissing someone's sensory needs instead of trying to help left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, because of the noise and lack of accommodation, I couldn't even comfortably sit and enjoy the meal with my own group. read more

The location is nice and there is plenty of parking in the back of the resturant. Walking into the resturant it was open and big but a little dark in the area we sat. The wait staff was pleasant but slow. The food was disappointing and just basic! The country potatoes sounded great and delicious when I ordered them but when they came they were salty and crispy all the way around. The salmon omelette with cream cheese is what I ordered and I was hoping it was going to be screaming by the description but it wasn't! So sad! The chicken and waffles is what my hubs ordered...oh wow that was sadder than mine...the waffles looked like frozen eggo waffles not even a big Belgium waffle literally....the chicken though boneless was meh. Went there for brunch with a few friends. It was pretty busy . Took a little while to get our order in and I was a bit worried at that point . The waitress was very nice and attentive. The champagne kept coming and then the food and it was excellent . This was by far the best chicken chicken fried steak breakfast I ever had . The chicken was crispy and moist. I think they were really trying hard to do a good job today. They weren't ready for the amount of people that were in town for the weekend of special events around the university. This place is really popular for their champagne brunch. But for warned when this place gets busy, it is so loud you can't even hear yourself talk. The weight was about 30 to 45 minutes to get seated. We all thought our food was pretty good. Except I was disappointed that some of my zucchini on my avocado toast order was dragging from my plate. I didn't order extra dark toast either. My friend had to send back his coffee because it was lukewarm also. Again it was super busy so I'd like to say they were doing the best they could. OK, first of all let me say this is only the second time that I've been to this place both times are pretty decent. Service was really good. Ambience was decent for that type of restaurant. Food was not bad. I really like the chicken fried chicken. Not a lot of places make it this way. It's usually chicken fried steak so this one was really better!! Potatoes were ok ! We came for Sunday breakfast and had about a 10 minute wait. The interior is cute and clean. The service was great, they were quick and attentive. First Nash's is a Chico Icon! Their champagne brunch was of legends, everywhere in Chico has scaled back on free-flowing bubbles. Secondly, we were a party of 19 to celebrate my nieces birthday. We made reservations so they knew we were coming. However, it took 45 minutes for them to take our food order. The drink girl was awesome & she pretty much stayed on top of it. Food took about 30 minutes to come out, not unreasonable with a large party. The hostesses brought the food out together when it was ready. One downside is those who ordered eggs benedict mostly had hard centers vs true poached. Only one out of 5 orders was perfect. This is a wonderful building and it has a nice spacious, openness and cleanliness. The staff were very efficient, however not overly pleasant. We ordered two dishes. One was the Reuben with the side salad? Both were very unremarkable. The Reuben came with 3 ultra thin deli, sliced pastrami, ther was no real sauerkraut to speak of, and the bread was burnt. It was very obvious the bread was burnt when it was served to me, and there was no effort to fix the burnt crust. The other dish was a special, called angel hair pasta, which came in a very small bowl Was completely dry except for the grease at the bottom of the bowl. Each server that came to our table was very personable. The food was delicious and they served huge portions. The house potato's and hashbrowns are super crispy. We used to love Nash's but it has gone WAY down hill. We went a few months ago and the service was painfully slow. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and we asked for the complimentary bread literally 5 times before they brought it to us. Food was ok when it finally arrived. We decided to try it again this week and were sadly disappointed again. Our drinks took forever to arrive, the server was pressuring us to order our food before we got our drinks, and the salmon was awful. It looked like it had been frozen and would be served at a grocery store deli for $10. Some of the servers are great and others are forgetful and aloof. read more

The most unique country potatoes I've ever had! I believe they're bartered, crispy in the outside and soft in the inside, I'm a fan of potatoes, so these were my favorite. Everything else was very tasty too, I really liked the Chicken Fried Chicken and the Carnitas Benedicts. I honestly didn't think the Benedicts would be good with carnitas but my son shared and I was wrong, I'm glad I got to try them. The service was pretty fast and friendly. The place seems very popular around the area, there were people waiting in line by the time we were leaving. First time there and wish I lived closer. Got the chicken fried chicken and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Almost the best part when I ordered my hash browns burnt they came out a perfect golden brown. The gravy was excellent and house hot sauce had great flavor. That drive down the esplanade, will give you the feeling your somewhere extremely beautiful, and such a beautiful city. It's located on 6th street and the Esplanade, hand a right and find their parking lot in the back. This place rocks to go to, and especially on "Mother's Day". If you haven't visited this place, be sure to put your reservations in, and get on down there. This place is the Chico, Ca staple for their amazing brunch's, or breakfast favorite. Oh... I almost forgot, "don't forget to bring your appetite, when you visit Nashes on 6th and the Esplanade. You won't be able to finish your plate. Worst experience yet at Nash's. Started off asking for 2 ice teas with no lemon, we got lemon. Then I ordered French toast and a side of bacon and a side of potatoes with no green onions. The potatoes had lots of green onions on them. The bacon came out barely cooked (and only 2 slices, when I paid for 3) then when I asked if I could get bacon a little more cooked it came out burnt. My French toast was soggy like they forgot to cook the other side. When they came back to the table I explained it she said "oh let me get that out your way" and took my plate. Then they dropped the bill off with the full price of French toast on it. Then went to the register. I explained to the girl and she said "I'll talk to the cooks" and ran my card for the full price of the meal. The meal I couldn't eat. This has been our usual spot for the last several years, but the last 6 months or so it has started going down hill. So sad. read more

This review is for dinner only. This place has really changed and unfortunately, not in a good way. The food served is not house made. Bread served at beginning was cold and stale and appeared not to be homemade. Clam chowder tasted packaged - little to no seasoning. Hamburger patties for a few of us tasted frozen cooked. Stale buns. Wilty lettuce. Chili tasted canned. Entree of pasta with chicken wasn't too bad but cost $30 for boxed pasta and a regular chicken breast. Overall, for $100 I would have enjoyed In and Out far better and for 1/4 the price. read more

Atmosphere on the patio was nice. We had a party of 11, w/ kids, so we kept the serving staff busy. We had to ask for water & menus. Food was ok, had apps & they were good. Food was decent, but everyone was finished eating & my fish tacos hadn't come out. I finally got up & pulled our server aside to a private area to talk to her about it, and she was very rude & defensive, tried to gaslight me saying I hadn't even ORDERED the tacos, just the kids meals (which was my daughter that did that) & then she said, it was "ridiculous that I was getting upset over fish tacos". Unbelievable! Girl, please! You KNOW I ordered the tacos, you probly just forgot to put them in, then scrambled when u knew you'd messed up, but it wasn't my fault! And to talk to me rudely like that? You didn't even come & check on us, making sure everything was good, everyone got what they ordered, etc, or you would've known that I was STILL WAITING! Nahhhh Im good, delete my order & lemme talk to your manager, which I did. My daughter has been a server for yrs, & we both talked to the manager. I said, I just wanted this outcome to be positive, for her to learn from her mistakes, but talking to a customer like she did was definitely not ok. She was clearly either brand new, or just overwhelmed with our party & another party of 18 she had. Manager was understanding, reassured us she'd handle it, and took the tacos off the bill, & gave us a substantial gift card for next time. Not sure if there will BE a next time, but I appreciated the effort. Our family from out of town said they'd never be back, they visit often, but there are too many great places in Chico to waste their time on this place. Disappointed with the Valentine's service at Nash's tonight. My friends and I (party of six) had a 7:15 reservation. After being seated, our server took our drink orders and quickly returned to ask if we were ready to order food. When we asked for more time, she came back within minutes to take our orders. When we mentioned we'd be paying separately, she rudely told us they couldn't split payments that way. Even when we suggested splitting into two groups (two people together, four separately), she refused and spoke to us as if we were unreasonable for even asking. I ended up covering the bill, and when our food arrived 30 minutes later, three of my friends who ordered the smoked salmon salad said it tasted awful, which was disappointing given the price. Then, when we received the check, it was $202--much higher than expected. A few minutes later, the server returned, admitting she had miscalculated the gratuity, and the actual total was $160. The way this was handled was completely unprofessional. It was also never mentioned at the time of booking that separate payments wouldn't be allowed. Nash's, please train your staff better. As one of the most popular restaurants in Chico that offer the ability to host private events, you would think that they would have a competent event coordinator. Good luck trying to get ahold of Amy!! I've gone there in person 2 times after back and forth emails SINCE MARCH, showed up and offered to put deposits both times and she was nowhere to be found and emails were excuses and lacking communication. Bless the restaurant staff for having such great customer service and attempting to do someone else's job the best that they could. Nash's is great for the food and stopping in, the atmosphere is amazing and their patio is beautiful. That combination made us initially want our engagement event here, but with what we've experienced with the coordinator as far as half ass communication, pure laziness, having to practically beg her for an appointment to give a deposit and then her scheduling us when the restaurant was CLOSED (we drove 30 mins into town) only for the cleaning crew to let us know she meant to call and reschedule was just fucking DUMB. read more

My omlette was fantastic and wife had chicken and waffles that she really enjoyed. Everyone else had excellent meals including scrambles, pancakes and other breakfast items. The Hostess who sat my family and I for lunch yesterday on July 8th was so rude and unwelcoming. I asked her a question before she sat us and was met with a disrespectful attitude and what felt like animosity towards me. I also watched her toss down the check for this elderly woman and walk away immediately after without any kindness at all, and with the same attitude that she had when another woman from a different table said thank you to her for bringing them boxes, she didn't say you're welcome, just turned around and walked away looking angry. Nash's to me is one of the better breakfast joints in Chico. If you have not been here before, I highly recommend! It is ALWAYS packed so plan accordingly. If you have a big party of like 4+ be ready to wait 30-45 mins but if it's anything less you get seated fairly quickly. I believe we were seated within 15 mins of the Host putting down our names! Got our food probably less than 10-15 mins within ordering. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with country potatoes! Very good gravy and just enough breading on the chicken, potatoes are my favorite anywhere on how they cook them. Waitress are always attentive and have good attitude. For two entrees of chicken fried chicken and two lemonades it was right under $40 total. Definitely recommend it if you have not been here already.
