I got the Huevos a la Mexicana. While the egg was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh and crisp, overall it tasted bland. Definitely recommend putting the rice, beans, and egg into the tortilla to compensate for the blandness. And drizzle some sauce on dat. I came in at 9:15 and there were only a few parties but 30 minutes later almost every table was full. My waiter, Arturo, was attentive and had kind eyes. The food came out real quick. read more

Went here for dinner on a Sunday and there was no wait. For dinner we ordered- Pollo en Mole Poblano. The mole sauce was good and the chicken was moist. The dish comes with rice and beans. Jibarito- the steak was good and the onions really complimented it. The plantain were crispy but a little too think. I really enjoyed the dish but wished it was not as greasy. I had grease slipping down the side of my hand every time I bit into the sandwich. Cocktails- Aloha Mexico was good- a summer drink with fresh pineapple. Visited last night; it was a quite day only few tables filled with customer and i believe we were the last ones to leave. Food was delicious; staff was very friendly. We ordered sangria which were not so impressive; I had their salmon and my friend ordered chicken burrito. Salmon was well done, thought edges were kind of dry. There was a cream sauce which was amazing; added a perfect touch. I also asked to replace greens with cactus salad which again was delicious. I would have liked more of it; picking thru i realized they bedded salsa and topped it with cactus salad. Chef tricked me but it's ok, I was happy they honored my request. If you enjoy spicy food, i don't recommend fish. Burrito will wake you up, fish is definitely flavorful just not spicy. I'm pretty sure i'd come back again. read more

In our 5 years of living in Chicago, this may be our favorite restaurant and surely the one we will miss the most when we move away from the city. From brunch to dinner, every dish we've tried is fresh, flavorful and great portions. The service is always exceptional. Highly recommend stopping in to split a pitcher of margaritas, the queso fundido and the fajitas before catching a movie next door for the perfect date night. This place is super solid in terms of both food and service. We've been several times, just us or with other couples, and it's consistently consistent. Being a pescetarian, I sometimes have limited options dining out. However at De Noche, I tend towards the chiles rellenos or chilaquiles and am never let down. I usually taste her (meat) dishes too, and they've always had tons of sabor (flavor). I think we've had nearly every appetizer as well, again with no disappointments. In addition to the food and always attentive-but-not-too-attentive service, the place is decorated and lit well, romantic even. It can get somewhat loud if you're seated near a large party, but that's part of the atmosphere. I should mention the drinks are all excellent too, with great happy hour deals. We've had the margaritas, mojitos, sangria, in addition to wine and their decent selection of beers. Modelo and Revolution on tap? Yes please! Oh yeah, the horchata is also to die for if you're going the non-alcoholic route, which we did one time ordering for pickup. We had wanted to come here since before we lived in the neighborhood. That we live five minutes away now makes De Noche an even easier choice. We plan to come back soon for their breakfast, billed on the sign out front as Cafe con Leche. Great place for brunch! I always go by one rule. If you see police officers eating at a restaurant you know it's going to be good. Cops don't eat at shitty places. I came here for a birthday celebration on a Monday just after 10 in the morning (we parked at the back of the building where parking was free). The staff was quite attentive to my party of nine. This place is called "Cafe con leche" so it certainly helps that taste of the coffee and expressos were good. The selection of food is as traditionally Mexican as it can get, and the food came out quick! While we all enjoyed our respective dishes--from the skillets to the chicken breasts, to the pancakes, to croissant--I do not believe the price of the food was justified by the foods' presentation. The decor of the place was impressive, and with the prices of the food, I was expecting better presentation of the food, but the presentation of the food was as traditional as the dishes themselves. I decided to try out de Noche restaurant to start the celebrations of my upcoming birthday this month. Myself and 4 other of my close friends always get together to celebrate our birthdays together and we like to try out different places... and living in the neighborhood, I thought that trying this place out was worth a shot. And I am so glad that we did! The pitchers - yes pitchers! - of mojitos were amazing! The appetizers and food were better than I ever anticipated... there was a lot of flavor on those plates. I was a bit surprised on the prices of a jibarito sandwich ($15) - where other places will give you the same sandwich for a much lower price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because our waitress was a little pushy. A few of us - including myself - ended up coming in earlier than the other ones, and even though we ordered a pitcher and an appetizer BEFORE the other ladies showed up, the waitress kept asking us where the other guests were and if they were on their way. We continued to let her know that they were on their way and that WE were early - the place was NOT crowded for a Friday evening at that time when were there - she continued to pester us about our other friends. Even going as far as asking my friend to "pinky-swear" with her about our friends arriving by 7:30pm. Besides that, I hope to be able to make it there again soon! read more

Was very excited that this restaurant opened its patio. We arrived not really knowing how things work. Instead of the usual greetings, we get yelled at stating we must wear our mask before getting a table. Yes we knew we had to wear a mask if asked to. But we were outside, there were people going inside without masks... font know if that makes sense. But our waiter was very rude. I usually love the service always so attentive and friendly. He seemed rude with all his tables and got my order wrong, when I asked for what ever he didnt bring me he got very bothered.My husband had to explain that he messed up and I was just trying to get the side of what I ordered. I don't understand how this place is supposed to be one of the best breakfast spots in the neighborhood. It is so overrated while everything about it is terrible, from service to food! All the servers are in a hurry to get you out, they have bad attitudes and the make the whole dining experience awkward. The plates and cutlery were disgustingly dirty. The chilaquiles were terrible, nothing about them is authentic, the tortilla chips they use to make them are soggy, the sour cream seemed like it had been sitting on the chilaquiles for hours, the refried beans were canned beans and the steak was bland and greasy. I ordered a hot cafe con leche and they gave me cold milk with sugar. My sister asked for no onions and they put them in her dish anyway. OVERALL BAD EXPERIENCE. UNFORTUNATE. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Oh D'Noche you are D'Yes all the way around! Our service was sublime, allowing us time to peruse the menu completely. They even came up with ideas for me for non alcoholic fun drinks! We couldn't decide on an appetizer so we tried the sampler platter! My faves were the quesadillas and the calamari. Then I had my very first jibarito, and it was worth the wait. The sandwich was just mouth watering, flavorful and all around completely scrumptious. I couldn't finish it thanks to the sumptuous appetizers which was my only disappointment of the night. Chicken Soup! Jibaritos! I had heard some buzz about D'Noche, and after being quoted a TWO HOUR wait at Longman & Eagle at 530pm on a Saturday (ha, no) we trekked just a bit northwest to check it out. Pleasantly surprised, it's actually that lovely balance of casual but certainly not divey. A chill place you can show up as you are, indulge in some mid-scale Latin American food, leave with your wallet mostly in tact and....FULL. I started with the chicken soup and a cocktail (of course, right?), which was a huge hit. Piping hot, made from scratch, fresh veggies, pulled chicken. A heaping serving. I would surely order this on a cold Chicago night while sick or in need of warmth and comfort. Very good. The Bourbon Cider with Rosemary was admittedly unexpected, but I chose well. Chicken soup and bourbon, warms your insides right up, eh? And of course, I couldn't bypass a jibarito. This thing was a beast, served with white rice and black beans. A real treat, but messy. Do not order on a date in which you are not comfortable being sort of a mess. We split ours so we both looked sort of sloppy, so all is ok in the world. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this one a super solid 8. It also comes with a side of herb butter, which seems nuts since its already so rich, but to each their own. The mixta salad was also nice and fresh, much lighter and a nice plate to share as well. The guac = great. Our service was wonderful. It's got a small bar in the front (seriously go get that cider bourbon thing, now!) and there were 3-4 TVs, all broadcasting soccer. No pretense, no fuss, no muss...great food, pretty good prices: 2 cocktails, chicken soup, guac, jibarito sandwich with sides, big salad was about $55 without tip. Bonus, 10 percent off your bill with a Yelp check-in. Get after it! Moral of the story: Chicken soup will cure what ails ya. And they deliver! Drink the bourbon cocktail. They won't deliver that though, you'll need to go in for it. It's worth it. A very nice addition to this stretch of Milwaukee! read more

D'Noche makes me happy. It probably has something to do with the name. One million years ago, I was a Disciple of Deee-Lite. Putting 'D' in front of anything was a way a speech (my go-to was 'Deee-ugly). But then Lady Miss Kier went to a bad place, Super DJ Dmitri couldn't stand to see where things were going and Towa Tei continued to terrify me. The '90s ended and my 'D' ways went the way of the Dinosaur. Until now. D'Noche manages to blend many things I love: putting 'D' in front of words, Latin food, Latin music, drink specials, cheese, and onions. This is going to end well. I came here one warm evening with the reigning queen of Detroit. We were in a chatty mood and wanted some good eats to nosh on and some strong DrAnks to put Down. We got our wish. On this particular Monday evening, D'Noche was offering a $5 Mojito special. Yes, please. And Don't think that because the DrAnk was on special, it was watered Down. Nope. It was strong, refreshing and Delicious (like the fishes). I should have stayed with the Mojito for my wallet's sake, but my eyes spied a watermelon tequila that I had to have. Wow. Talk about refreshing. I'll refrain from mentioning the DrAnks name, but it's a good one. Ask for the watermelon tequila signature DrAnk and prepare to send me payment and praise in thanks. Much as I've tried, though, man (and woman) cannot live on DrAnks alone. We needed food. We started off with the molletes. It sounds simple: toasted bread, refried beans, pico de gallo, and cheese (queso). It tastes incredible. Get it. The queen and I may have wrestled over it. She may have won. Don't judge me! Detroiters are scrappy. They bite. Wounds nursed by the sweet sweet taste of watermelon tequila, I Decided upon the milaneza sandwich. Again, could breaded chicken, avocado, tomato, onions, cheese, and refried beans on bread ever be a bad idea? No. The answer is, 'no.' To make matters even better, the torta came with a side of rice and (black) beans. Heaven. I'm in heaven. Loved it. Our waitress was chatty, smiley and fun. The restaurant itself is on the smaller size but that 'small size' lends itself to intimacy rather than crowding. In the warmer months, make sure to take advantage of the back patio. I was in the mood to sit in the front window and have all who passed take in my beauty. But, when I am in the mood to be incognito but soak up the sun, you'd best believe that I am making a b-line to that patio. Sitting outside on a beautiful day in Chicago at this lovely gem equals Paradise. Cafe con Leche in itself is already known for being the most delicious drink ever. So I had to see if the name of the place lived up to the hype, and boy did it live up to the hype. I was craving a much needed breakfast...so I decided to order Papas Con Chorizo,with an Horchata as my beverage. Papas Con Chorizo is a delicious concoction of (3) eggs have it your way with house potatoes, mixed with green pepper, onion, and chorizo. The meal is also served with fresh avocado and tortillas. The meal was a monstrosity of goodness, I could not even finish it. The Horchata (Sweetened Rice Milk) beverage is probably the best Horchata I have ever had. Not gonna lie. It's getting harder and harder to find a decent under $10 meal. It's got a bit of a diner + coffee shop + bar element. Got a torta de milanesa and it comes with fries. Good fresh chewy bread and hunk of avocado. Fries have an extra crispyness to them. I enjoyed my cafe con leche, the coffee reminded me a bit of cafe du monde that has chickory in it. Not sure what they use, but it's got a certain smokey flavor. You can add more flavors for $4 to booze it up. We walked into Cafe Con Leche and were sent further into the restaurant and...into D'Noche. But what a pleasant surprise! I got a Jibarito sandwich with grilled chicken, with black beans and rice for the sides. So much food and very filling. The sandwich was good - it had fried plantains in place of buns. It was a little hard to eat and the plantains were a little too hard and tough to chew. My friend got the tacos de camarones - shrimp tacos, and she said they were pretty good. Good things about D'Noche: the wonderful ambience when you come inside. I'd like to describe it as somewhere you can take a first date to or a small girls night out type of dinner. The decor is unique and inviting. Second, to everyone who checks in on yelp, you get 10% off your bill. Third, the food was good and reasonably priced. Oh and after 10(?) pm on Friday and Saturday nights (I believe) they play live music. The margarita pitcher is inexpensive ($22-25), especially when you plan on splitting the bill amongst friends. Not so good things: The service by our server was sub-par. A little bit more attentiveness would have been appreciated. Also, they don't allow more than 2 credit cards so between a party of three and checking in on yelp, they wouldn't allow us to individually use the 10% off (even though we all checked in and I didn't see a one per table disclaimer). In regards to the margarita, while it was inexpensive, it also was not every strong. I question how much alcohol was in it (I mean girls just wanna have fun on a Saturday night!) Would I come back? Yes. The food was good and I absolutely loved the ambience of the restaurant. What have I learned about my first dining experience here? Making a reservation here for a weekend doesn't hurt, don't sit in the corner by the door because of the constant wind that blows in, go on a Friday or Saturday for live music, and they servers offer free drink samples on their drink specials.
