Upon recently moving to Dutchess county, my husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant while waiting for our dog to get groomed within the hour time frame. Once we entered, the ambiance and decor of Puerto Rican trinkets, music and art really made us feel like we were in Puerto Rico (would love to visit there one day!). We made it to the brunch service and the specials/entrees they had for the Sunday time were incredible. My husband is Puerto Rican so he was thrilled to see his favorite dishes created with that home cooked love in each bite. Upon ordering, I got the Hot Honey Omelette which came with home fries, toast, and a side of meat. Extremely delicious ! My husband ordered the special which consisted of a toast with jam, sunny side eggs, avocado, a side of home fries and meat. Both dishes were very filling. We also got an appetizer which was delicious , if I was able to drink mimosas (first time mom status) then it would be wonderful as their drink menu is legit. So if you're looking for a place to eat authentic Latin food and booze with friends on a brunch or dinner date, I highly recommend Cafe con Leche. The menu selections are all mouth watering and our lunch picks were delicious. The carne guisada is a platter with rice, beans and plantains. The shrimp dish was generous and seasoned perfectly. I visited this restaurant last month as I was craving Puerto Rican food. I had mofongo con pollo and a Bad Bunny inspired alcoholic drink which was good but did not have a lot of alcohol. The mofongo was not dry like other places and the plate had plenty of chicken pieces; which I could barely finish. The server was nice and attentive. I don't think I would go back as it is very pricy, I paid almost $50 just for myself just for those two items. read more

I also tried their tostones with it sauces (very good), the alcapurria and the beef empanada with their passionfruit hot sauce and it was amazing, my family had the chicken empanadas and they said it was really good and preferred over the beef one. I didn't have space for desserts because I was super full but my family had the hot coquito latte which I had a sip for trying and it was really good. I hope I can come back and try some other foods. I have been eyeing this restaurant for some time. This weekend I was finally able to go as we were driving up to see the fall foliage. Super excited but disappointed. We started with the appetizer that had alcapurias, pastellios and yuca fries. The pastellios de perinel y beef was ok, nothing to rave about. I was so excited for the alcapurias and I was super disappointed!! It was dry, little to no meat. Drinks : bullet abs diet soda and home made guava mojito. The quava was supposedly home made, it was a strong drink but u did not taste the guava at all. Thank god it was a sting drink. Now let's get to dinner: we decided to get the piernel Mofongo. While it was picture perfect, the texture of Mofongo was soggy. Thank god thr piernel was delish. We could not enjoy the inside as I did not make a reservation so I can not comment on ambiance. Going to dinner for a farewell, we decided to try Cafe Con Leche. First and foremost, I have to mention the bathroom! Don't freak out when you enter the tropical oasis with raining sounds and a coqui in the background, I enjoyed the experience and the sounds but everyone else at the table didn't feel the same way. The place was packed by the time we arrived for dinner for a reservation at 6pm. Our meal was very satisfying, we walked almost rolling out of there with full bellies and to go containers. Their serving sizes can feed two people easily, their desserts were so good and the cafe con leche definitely a must try. Service was fine but definitely not worth the almost $100 we left not realizing that they apply a 20% gratuity to the bill. Since moving to the the Mid-Hudson Valley area one thing I've missed from the city that easily accessible was great Puerto Rican food whether it was from family's homes or from local eateries that offered that home cooked experience. I look no further Cafe Con Leche is that place that makes you feel like your Abuela (grandmother) or Tia (aunt) is cooking it up in the kitchen. The vibes in the restaurant with salsa playing in the background and the serenading sound of coqui's in the restroom make me feel like I'm back en la isla de encanto Puerto Rico! We had to start with some frituras(fritters) and on these I would be judging very hard. We started with a few pastelios de pernil, alcapurrias, and Bacalaoitos. The pastelios were very tasty pernil full of flavor and juicy. The bacalaoitos or cod fish fritters were that perfect greasy, salty, fishy, crispy goodness I was hoping for. Now the alcapurrias is where I judge most harsh, I've definitely had some of the best purchased alcapurrias and the best homemade ones from my great aunt straight from the island. Cafe Con Leche did not disappoint they were crisp on the outside full of flavorful meat on the inside for those of you that don't know of alcapurrias it's game changing dish and cafe con leche is great place to try them Puerto Rican approved! As for the entrees as if we had much room left. We had the pernil and I love that they make sure there is a crispy piece of skin in each dish which is the most crucial part of every pernil. The churrasco was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. As for the mofongo just feed me that for life and let me move in from there. As for the service, it was great the hostess and wait staff were great very welcoming and very accommodating especially since we were there for a birthday dinner. The bartender also same service great welcoming and fast service. By the way coconut mojito after coconut mojito just keep bringing those refreshing bad boys! As a party of five we were greeted and seated within minutes of arriving. The wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered an appetizer to share and everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the green dipping sauce! Our meals came in hot and crispy plantains. Meats were all well seasoned. The food here is really pretty freaking solid. I thoroughly enjoyed the mofongo, and my dining partner raved over the pernil. Weirdly they have brussels on the menu as an app (I mean I'm guessing it's weird, doesn't strike me as terribly typical Puerto Rican cuisine!!!) but welcome to 2023 in America and brussels are still having their moment, and I can't say I'm too upset about that. Especially not at CCL, which makes a very tasty twist on the good old roasted Brussels! The space (which once upon a time was the short-lived "West Main," a failed attempt at upscale...) is, well, cozy. It's a bit loud, maybe a little tight. But nicely appointed enough. The service staff are great. Very friendly and efficient. So yes, CCL will be in the rotation for the foreseeable future. When this place first opened after their cafe closed, their food was pretty good. The stewed beef could've used less tomato sauce but it was edible. The alcapurria was decent but very small. I'm from the Bronx so wasn't used to the small size or price! The flan was amazing. The rice being small grain, I wasn't too fond of that --I like long grain better. Now they're in a new location, and I'm not sure if they changed their recipes but I really didn't enjoy the flavors too much. Not sure I'll return anytime soon. read more

The brussel sprouts are my favorite especially when you add bacon. These are my go to for happy hour. As for the drinks, the Parcha Mojito is by far my favorite drink when I come here. The ambiance of the place is really nice and old school Puerto Rican restaurant vibes. The service was horrible. We sat at our table for almost 25 minutes before anyone even brought our water. Every time we needed something we had to flag someone down to help us. Considering the fact that I drove an hour and 15 minutes to get there it was a bit frustrating. The mini jibaritos were delicious but they are massive. The churrasco was good and well seasoned. The chuleta was fried too hard and over seasoned. The white rice and beans were delicious. Moving from the city to orange county I was determined to find an authentic Spanish restaurant. After trying a few mediocre/ bad spots, today I found cafe con leche. The place is located very close to the water and you get good vibes from the minute you park. Walking into the restaurant you get a feeling of being in Puerto Rico. Phil and his staff greeted us with open arms and a complimentary alcapura!! (I was secretly doing a happy dance) which was the best I've tasted in months. I ordered the drink of the day which was the coquito iced latte, it was different but in a good way. Appetizers/Entree Moving on to the menu, we ordered different things to explore the menu. (See pictures) firstly I wanted to try the Tostones Rellenos, those are Mini Plantain Cups each filled with Pork, Chicken and Shrimp, all were so delicious and fresh and the mayo ketchu sauce to compliment the dish was a plus. The "Tripleta" was super tasty and juicy with (hence the name) Roast pork, steak, ham and melted swiss with lettuce, tomatoes and potato sticks topped with a homemade secret sauce), the side of yuca fries was crispy, and seasoned perfectly. The rice being served in a metal pot was a great touch. Between the Ambience, great flavors and the old school salsa playing in the background my husband even got chills thinking about our trips to Puerto Rico. I have to add a star for their good plating presentation as well, and we were served enough to even take home to enjoy later .... Phil (the owner) and his staff (melodie) were very attentive and we all even shared personal stories like we were visiting families. The question isn't will I go back, but when will I go back, and the answer is Very soon indeed. I'm hoping to purchase a cafe con leche cute pink tee shirt next time, they were out of stock today. I went to cafe Con Leche (CCL) last night with 4 additional friends. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by an enthusiastic and welcoming staff of individuals. Setting a great vibe from the moment we entered. Jennifer our waitress patiently walked through the menu in detail providing us with the variances of all items on the menu.
