4.12.26 - I usually love this place but there were a few issues with the order this time. It's been about 1-2 years since I've last eaten or ordered from here and decided to order to go for dinner. The web link on Yelp didn't work so I used menu photos from Yelp. 1. Item M14 -Gang Kiew Waan Roti from the photos says it's served w/ roti. But we were charged an additional $3 for roti, which was not mentioned to me when putting in the order. Only after we received our order and saw the receipt did I check Google. Web link on Google works and it appears they changed the name of the item and removed roti from the name. 2. To go portions are small for the price. Chicken larb was enough for like 2 people and had only one piece of lettuce. Papaya salad was also small and 1/2 the container was garnishes (carrots/cabbage). 3. For a noodle soup, any other place would put noodles separate from its broth. My khao soi came all in one container. Forgot to take a photo while it was in the container but there's an old photo of it somewhere on Yelp. 4. Crab fried rice had barely any crab. 5. There was no white rice. Places usually provide some white rice regardless if you order fried rice but I guess that's an extra charge here. 6. We ordered medium spicy for majority of the dishes because one person can't handle spicy but everything came out mild tasting. Even my khao soi, which I ordered hot spicy level, came out mild. 7. Thai tea was missing. After ordering, I asked the person on the phone to read back my order to me. She listed everything I had ordered including the thai tea. But after the order was picked up (not by me), the thai tea was not included in the order. It's a bit out of the way from here to there so no one is going to drive all the way back to get it. I went elsewhere close by for the thai tea. Such a welcoming atmosphere! Great selections-and unique. Our entrees were delicious and the service was top notch.
We came to Cafe de Bangkok a few weeks ago for lunch with the family. It is likely the best Thai food in the Gilbert area. The servers are always so kind and gives great suggestions. The place is busy but clean. We are seated immediately always. Recently I tried the crab curry and it is one of the most delicious curries I've ever had. The pad Thai is always great here. My family always enjoys coming here.
Not sure where to start, a nice authentic Thai restaurant. The server was very friendly. Kept stopping by and explain everything about the food , the menu and the ingredients. He mentioned how they used really authentic fresh ingredients. Their lychee mocktail was really good and it had lychees in it and not lychee jelly. The kao soi is definitely a must truly. We got the platter for the appetizer for everyone to share. However if you go small group and would like to chose one or two things from there. I highly recommend their shrimp. Their desserts were good as well, forgot the name of the other dessert it was the special that day, I think it was sugar toast or something with ice cream. Highly recommend trying hard as well. The place was clean and well maintained. For a Friday night it was quite easy to find and get a table right away.
It was a Monday night and my husband and I were in the area without the kids for a couple of hours... When I suggested Thai food, he was game so we searched the Yelp app for nearby options and came across this place! They were doing some decent business when we walked in but we were seated promptly. It's a casual but festive ambiance - definitely with a local, hidden gem kind of feel. Service was friendly and helpful as we needed some guidance on what to order - everything sounded great! We went with a green curry chicken dish and a pad thai (the non-street food version). Both were very good, although the pad thai was a tad bit sweet for us. Portions sizes and prices are reasonable and we had leftovers too... I hope to return to try some other options in the future. Enjoy!

As Thai cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines, I decided to have a birthday dinner here with some of my closest friends. I ordered two orders of chicken satay for the table, a duck curry for my entree, and I washed it down with a cherry temple. I also did a couple of sake bombs for my birthday and that's always a delight. The chicken satay was so surprisingly tender. I usually avoid chicken dishes while dining out in fear of dry, overcooked meat but this place does chicken well. I even let out an involuntary, "mmm!" when biting into the satay. As for my duck curry, it was a sweet dish. The lychee and other fruit in it comes off strong. Get it spicier to have a more balanced flavor profile. I would have liked more duck too but that's just because I love me some duck. Thai food isn't just food, it's a journey through flavors and this place does it well. The staff is super friendly, having taken a birthday cake we had brought to store in their fridge and providing plates and lighting the candles come dessert time. They also sing a fun birthday song!
I've been looking for a new go to Thai spot in Gilbert and I think I've finally found it. They have happy hour from 5pm - 6:30pm! There's an Early Bird dinner set which is a choice of a drink, one of the entrees and it comes with spring rolls and a Tom Khao soup. I got the Yellow Curry and it was so flavorful. One of the best yellow curries I've ever had! It's definitely a bit more on the spicy side. I got mild and it was more spicy than I expected, so if you aren't use to spice - definitely ask for no spice! The Pad Thai was also so soft and so delicious. I also loved the Tom Khao coconut soup that it came with. The place is well decorated and roomy and the service was attentive. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

One of my local favorites in Gilbert! This place has always provided FANTASTIC food and service. As others have mentioned, the owner is extremely friendly and, if you've been to Thailand, he thoroughly enjoys talking about his home country with you. The restaurant has a very casual but real Thai feel. My go-to's here are the pad Thai, the yellow chicken curry, and the khao soi. DO NOT SKIP OUT ON THIS PLACE.
The flavor of the food here is spectacular! Everyone at the table was raving about their dishes. I especially like that when you ask for your meal to be hot there is actual spice to it. The only drawback was the fact that the air conditioning seemed to be broken and it was a bit warm inside with just the stand alone cooler, but the food more than made up for that.
This is my all-time favorite place to get lunch! And it's gotta be a dine-in lunch to get the full benefits! When you get the lunch menu, make sure to flip it over to ensure you're on the Lunch COMBO side (not the Lunch Special). The Lunch Combo comes with your entree, a free drink (I either get the Thai coffee or the Thai Tea), a cup of the Soup of the Day (the Tom Yum is my fave), and an appetizer! (I will say I've gone here several times, but went yesterday and the lunch combo has changed a bit. They used to have Chicken Satay (Gai Satay) on their appetizer list and I always got that. But now they've removed that option and I'm so sad :( Please add that back!! And it does seem the lunch portions have gotten slightly smaller.) But the food is still amazing. I always get the Rama Gai (basically peanut butter chicken) for the entree. Highly recommend this place for a lunch spot!
If you've eaten your way through Thailand like I did (five weeks, countless bowls of noodles, zero regrets), you know authentic Thai food when you taste it -- and Cafe De Bangkok is the closest thing to the real deal I've found in Arizona. Their Khao Soi is elite. Rich curry broth, tender noodles, perfectly crispy toppings -- it's the dish I dream about and the one I haven't found anywhere else. Their Chicken Satay with peanut sauce is dangerously good. You'll catch yourself contemplating licking the skewer. No shame, it happens. And the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups? Straight-up comfort bowls. Aromatic, balanced, and exactly like the soups I had in Thailand. Plus the owner is awesome -- super welcoming and always helping out, which gives the place that "family-run, heartfelt" vibe. The menu is reasonably priced; and I'd highly recommend coming for Happy Hour for the best deals! If you want real Thai flavors in AZ, this is your place.

The owner greeted us and sat us quickly. Very friendly. I ordered pad Thai beef - Thai hot and my wife ordered the shrimp pad thai hor kai -medium. We also ordered the sampler appetizer. Everything was amazingly good! Excellent service. The wife cooks in the kitchen and her husband runs the dining room. He asked our names and chatted with us about wanting to have quality, authentic thai food. This is our new go-to spot for Thai. Highly recommend! read more

I keep seeing my fellow Yelpers Yelpin "Yo - Randi - Cafe de Bangkok is amazing - Go Eat There!" so I did and guess what?!?! They were right!!! Clean eating area - 5 stars Clean bathroom - 5 stars Fresh tasting ingredients - 5 stars Menu suggestions by staff - 5 stars Consistent service throughout meal - 5 stars Reasonable prices - 5 stars Reasonable portions - 5 stars Since this was my first visit, only the basics were ordered.... Fresh Rolls with avocado, Yellow curry with chicken and another chicken dish with a sauce and veggies and some Thai Tea First the fresh rolls came out and they were HUGE! WOW! The crisp, bold, vegetable flavors really made these enjoyable and a great accompaniment to the Thai Iced Tea. I could see myself just ordering these 2 things as a future meal here. Our entrees came just before we finished the rolls, which was perfect timing because they were hot! The yellow curry had a deep, creamy flavor that ended with a kiss of heat (level 3). Ill try level 4 next time. It was even more enjoyable because the chicken was not overcooked - thank you! The #23 krapow gai kai dow (Thai Basil Chicken with a Fried Egg on top) was equally as impressive in flavor and the chefs cooking technique. The amount of basil and sauce was not overpowering to the perfectly cooked string beans, garlic and peppers. This orchestra of flavors carried the tender bites of chicken perfectly from the plate to my chop sticks and then to my mouth. As my brain eagerly awaited an encore presentation, I looked around the restaurant to see everyone else experiencing a similar concert of flavor and their reactions with a smile! All you need to do is read some of the other reviews to see how awesome Cafe de Bangkok is... but I'm writing this anyway! Their Thai tea is the best Thai tea that I have had... ANYWHERE! And you cannot go wrong with any of their curry dishes... and same goes for the mango and sticky rice! For that matter, everything else I have tried is terrific here! Service is attentive, prompt, and friendly. 5 star meal!! Loooooved their papaya salad, pu goong ob woon sen, and red curry!!! Papaya salad was not too salty and it had just the right touch of lemon for a pleasant zesty kick! The pu goong ob woon sen gonged me in all the right places and the red curry had all the right flavors! Simply one of THE best Thai restaurants I've had the pleasure of sampling! Don't forget to leave room for dessert cuz their mango sticky rice will make ur belly pop! Our server was such a doll as well!! I got the famous Buddha belly after my meal, but oh so worth it!! read more

A friend of mine suggested this restaurant. It has lived up to the expectations. All the dishes that we tried were good. I loved the Fried rice. Spring rolls were surprisingly good with the dipping. Curry puffs were similar to Indian samosa. Drunken Noodles were okay. The service was good. The staff were very knowledgeable. It has got a reasonably good ambience. I was very hungry and the food here satisfied my hunger. I was very happy with the food here. read more

Hands down one of the best Thai Restaurant here in Phoenix. The owner is very amicable and is very attentive, he will give you personal recommendations. The place is kind of hidden at night so pay close attention for the sign. We ordered the Chicken Satay which had amazing flavors as well as the Tom kha Gai which was delicious as well as a soft shell crap curry which was spectacular. Highly recommend this place. Took pics of most of the food but not at of the food. Ordered most of the food medium spice and it was perfect. read more

Absolutely amazing Thai food - probably the best I've had. I was so excited to try another version of Khao Soi, and this one was pretty decent. Knowing nothing else, it's a really solid version, but I do prefer one other version better - I'd still have no problems ordering the one here. Massaman curry and pad see ew here are top tier, my favorite of all the other restaurants I've tried. The curry was extremely creamy and flavorful and the takeout containers was full to the brim. The pad see ew looked a little on the smaller side but was more than enough. Noodles were cooked extremely well and the flavor was perfect. I couldn't stop eating the food, but once I did, I was already looking forward to the leftovers. Opening times on the weekend are a bit late, by the time you've called in, driven over, and driven back home with takeout, you won't be eating until close to 12:40pm or so, but it's worth it. They offer curbside pickup, but the inside is spaced out well if you want to pop in. read more

I only give them 4.5/ 5 stars because I walked in for lunch and the place was a mess with tables not cleared for the next guests to sit. We had a wait a few minutes to enjoy our delicious meal. I came with vegan friends and the chef accommodated their food prep alternatives like no fish sauce in the dishes and using tofu instead of meat. The ambiance is casual and in the true sense of Thai culture decor. The servers are very nice and explained the menu to us and we appreciated that. I love Thai foods but not the spice, so I always order mine with no spice because the "spice #1" is still to hot for me. Come and be impressed by the Thai flavors in dancing in your mouth with every bite. read more

This is a unique Thai restaurant. I would call it "New Thai". The spin they put on Thai food was very new age. I got the Khao Soi. It looked delicious, sounded amazing, but tasted gross. I don't know how to describe it, but it was wayy too salty with fish sauce, and the texture of the noodles did not compliment the dish. It was like wavy egg noodles. I expected rice noodles. I added eggplant to the dish, and for the first time in my life, I was served ultra thin slices of RAW eggplant. It was totally flavorless. I sincerely expected large chunks of grilled eggplant like every other Thai restaurant I've been to. The drunken noodles, with a level 1 spice (mild), was searingly hot and barely edible. Apparently, they don't know what mild actually means. I would rate their level 1 as a level 4/5. I should have said "no spice". My main gripe is the service was very poor. It took 5 minutes for us to get seated, 15 minutes for our order to be taken, and 40 minutes to receive our meal. Way too long. They did not come check on us even once to see how we liked the meal or if we needed anything. And I seriously needed another napkin. We got 1 little napkin each. I guess they are rationing? Other tables were waiting a long time as well for their food. They need to hire at least 1 more server. I'll try them again since I took the risk to try something new, because you never know until you try it, and the noodles were good minus the spice, and minus the inedible pieces of hard lemongrass in it that I had to repeatedly spit out. We went to Cafe de Bangkok for the first time on July 04, 2023. We were craving Thai food and was very surprised to have found a Thai place we could come back again and again. Tom is the owner and he just happen be our server also. He's very nice, attentive, and very knowledgeable. We may have ordered too much food for two people, but everything was delicious and I love left over. First Time for us to visit this Thai Restaurant, the ambiance is casual and comfortable, nice soft jazz music, the lighting is also favorable - not too bright nor dimmed, just enough to be able to read the menu. The moment we step in the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by the food server and seated right away. My husband and I perused the two page menu and found authentic Thai cuisine. We decided to star with their combination appetizers that had coconut shrimps, spring rolls, chicken satay, chicken curry puffs, and cream cheese wonton. We also tried their Pad Thai Hok Khai - it's a pad Thai version in a bowl shaped egg omelette, in addition, we had ordered their yellow chicken curry the meal was very tasty and delicious and their serving is a bounty good not only for two but I would say at least 4. Such a good dining experience for sure will come back to do it again. read more

We Stopped in for lunch today because our normal spot to get together is just open for Togo orders right now because of COVID. I have never been here since the restaurant change because we didn't hear much about it. But Now I am kicking myself on what I have been missing out on since it's just down the street. The food here is amazing along with the friendly owner. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants, this is now one of my favorites and will be my 1st choice to recommend. The flavors just linger, making you want more. The soup of the day was just rich in coconut flavor with the vegetables still al dente. Spring Rolls were crispy, Cashew Chicken #11 had a sweet with heat spice to it. Absolutely loved my Pad Thai which had raw veggies on the side with lime, it really added that extra zip to the dish. Of Course Thai Tea is always a dessert. You must really come here a keep this place open during this difficult time. Believe the 5 star reviews because those are the truthful reviews! I have eaten Thai food for many years, in many states and all over CA. This is hands down the best Thai food. You can tell that care and love for true Thai food ingredients goes into every dish. We always order 3-4 items and have so much food left we take it home and enjoy the leftovers. Some of our favorites are Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Kha, Green Curry with Roti, Panang Curry, Pad Thai and the mango sticky rice dessert! Everything is fresh, presentation is beautiful and if you speak with the chef you will see the heart behind every dish. If you want a wonderful meal in a clean and kind environment this is your place! read more

Visited here after workout so I was super hungry. I'm usually a big fan of Pad Thai and Thai curry but my personal opinion about this place is not 10/10. I may not be well qualified Thai food reviewer but their Pad Thai was too salty and curry tasted just so-so. read more

Came here after my husbands co workers suggested it. We went in for lunch and there was only one other customer besides us. The tables were socially distanced and we were seated by the window. We ordered a pat see ew and yen te fo and Thai tea. The Thai tea was delicious! Perfect balance of tea to milk ratio. It's always a hit and miss at restaurants as some places the tea is to strong or they put to much milk and it's super sweet. Both of the dishes we got tasted good and nice serving size. Our food came out fairly fast and our server was nice. I would definitely come back and like to try some of their other dishes. read more

Crazy f-ing good. I usually get pad see ei, but saw the pics and reviews of the curry noodles (khao soi) and HAD to get them. So amazing BF got the Pad Thai and it was just the way I want it - nicely blended flavors and not too greasy. I've been disappointed SO many times when ordering Pad Thai - not this one! Wanna try EVERYTHING on the menu now. read more

My mom had been wanting to come here. We finally made it. It is a nice place and bright and comfortable ambiance. Clean and fresh. The staff was not bad but not good. I am was in this industry back in college and our wages depended on good to outstanding service. So, needless to say, I am a customer service person. So I think this is where the two extra stars could have been gained. The food was typical thai food. Good flavors and healthy portions. Did I mention we are also Thai? So the flavors were what we expected and some dishes a little American fusioned and not as authentic. read more
