I was born and raised in Seattle which I truly believe has some of the BEST Thai food. I am always on the hunt for a restaurant that meets that standard and today I found it. We ordered the pad thai, panang curry and crab rangoons and they were all 10/10. We ordered the hot + and I think next time we will try the Thai hot because we really like our spice and the hot + was still pretty mild for us but the flavor was there. Hands down the BEST Thai food in the Valley. The owner is very attentive to the ingredients and taste quality to recreate the flavors in Thailand--he also explains the purpose of each ingredient and how they enhance each dish. He recommended the M07 to our table and it is hands down the BEST curry I've had in my entire life. The food at Cafe De Bangkok is plentiful, bursting with flavor, and beautiful (even when it's take-out, which is how I get it). First time here, dining with the family. Found this restaurant on Yelp and was excited about coming here due to the high ratings. Service was excellent. Our appetizer and drinks were served within the first 15 minutes of being there. The entrées on the other hand took longer than expected. The anticipation of trying the food became more of an irritation. Only reason I'm not giving this restaurant five stars is the wait time for the entrées. Cafe de Bangkok has always been a favorite, thanks to the owner (Tom I think) and his service is impeccable and so friendly. Today our lunch was disastrous and I was here with my cousin who I was meeting after 6 years. Bragged to her about the food and how great service was, only for their server to mess it up! 1. Was served water almost 15m after seating. It was busy lunch hour so we didn't mind. 2. Took about 25-30 mins for our lunch combo to arrive. And when it arrived, the drunken noodle had egg. We couldn't even recognize it and blindly trusted since that's how it always is with the owners service. My cousin recognized it and it still took another 10-12 mins for the waitress to notice us and come by our table. 3. We're vegans (due to religious reasons) and have always eaten here as Tom is so accommodating and dishes are carefully made vegan. 4. So much went wrong today! Tom always gave Tom kha gai during lunch combo to us. Today the waitress said no, maybe owner can give you. She basically gave 1 spring roll instead of the soup. Took wrong order of the fried tofu (instead of spring roll and tofu) in the app section and only provided fried tofu. Egg in the noodles and she said oh I forgot to mention vegan. But this dish has egg so it's vegan I didn't put fish sauce. It took another 25 mins for the replacement tray to come by and no spring roll in that LOL 5. Thai ice tea part of the combo didn't come until we were 45-50 mins in and then had to remind her that Thai ice comes with combo. 6. She went on to charge us extra for the veggies and tofu when we said noodles and Penang curry combo with tofu or veggies. Lesson learnt and just disappointed with their service today and the egg in vegan dish! Unless the owner is around, not sure if we're going to be back. read more

My wife learned of this dining spot from friends and Yelp. My wife was born in Thailand and is a professionally-trained, chef. We are serious Thai foodies. Cafe de Bangkok is the real deal. We loved the food. It was so great to see all the unique dishes, 64 items on the menu alone, plus the great daily specials. The cocktail menu was another great surprise because they offer a series of Thai-themed drinks. I tried the Tom Yum cocktail. It was flavored with galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chili, and fresh lime. Amazing! No "Americanized" Thai food here. This spot serves up the authentic styles and present the medley of flavors that make Thai food so tasty. The owner, Tom, visited our table multiple times to elicit suggestions, comments, complaints. He honestly wanted to hear any suggestions. We could only tell him how much we enjoyed our entire dining experience and that we would order all the same dishes next time. Must have went on an off day because we were soooo disappointed with both food and service . We read all the great reviews and maybe has too high expectations .....we went for lunch but wanted to splurge off the regular menu. Appetizer combo - arrived cold and all the items were cold and the chicken satay was raw and uncooked on inside . Burner wasn't even on - wouldn't recommend . * when we mentioned it - the employees were definitely not happy with us * Pad Thai - was okay but noodles were super wet and on the soggier side. Yellow curry - okay but mostly potatoes and onions . I'm sad to say I've had better yellow curry . Rice was cold with a few hard pieces ( almost as if it was old rice ) . Service was ok - it wasn't busy but we felt more of a burden than a guest ( after we mentioned the appetizer platter chicken satay was raw and the rest was cold - they seemed mad and unwelcoming ). Today we ate dinner at Cafe de Bangkok for my son's birthday. The owner Tom was so friendly, helpful, courteous and even helped us to select an exotic Thai dish from the south. We previously lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand and know good Thai food. This restaurant has very authentic Thai food that was extremely delicious!! My son ordered Khao soi which is hard to find and his favorite dish!! I ordered Pad Thai seafood that was amazing!! Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious!! My Thai wife and daughter ordered a special, hard to find menu item that was so good!! The ambiance was perfect and the restaurant so clean!! I love Thai food. Today, I visited an exceptional Thai eatery- Café de Bangkok. This was a surprisingly fresh, unique and authenticate restaurant. The location is on E Gilbert Rd, just south of N Houston Ave. The restaurant is fairly simply, but with plenty of tables. The restaurant is well staffed, which is a nice change from most restaurants in the post covid era. When I arrived, they seated me immediately. I ordered shrimp wonton soup for the appetizer. It came out and was sizzling, literally. The metal bowl with the wonton soup was centered with an oil lamp which kept the soup hot. The lamp burned out in a few minutes, keeping the soup hot while we enjoyed it. It was simple wonton, which wrapped shrimp, and the broth was enhanced with fresh bok choy. At $17 it was unique, but at this price, only reasonable for purchase in a meal on special occasions. For the main course, I ordered three items: Jumbo Fried rice, Penang curry, and garlic & pepper pork. The jumbo fried rice was a dazzling dish of beef, pork, and shrimp slices amongst fried rice, egg, carrots, onions, cheese, peas and tomatoes. It was expensive (nearly $20), but sizzling and wonderful. The second dish, pengang curry beef, was nicely spiced but not spectacular. I would say the flavor was flat in terms of its texturea and the beef was dry. This was my least favorite of the dishes. I would not order this again with beef. Chicken might be a better match for this curry. The last and final dish we enjoyed was the Garlic Pepper dish. Normally served with beef, I had it made with pork, which was brilliant, juicy and spicy (i had this with 4 level spiciness). The amount of pepper, zestieness of the garlic and juiciness of the pork made this a stellar selection. At $16 this was my favorite dish. The staff was fast, courteous, and helpful. The prices were reasonable. The presentation was surprisingly brilliant. The tastes were excellent. I will return. read more

We live close by and have been meaning to try this place for ages. This was our second time ordering take out and it was delicious. The order was ready when it stated it would be ready. The staff were friendly and helped me quickly. We ordered two entrees and one appetizer. The spring rolls were not my favorite as they were just too thick and tough. But the two vegetarian dishes we ordered were especially delicious. The veggie red curry with rice was perfect and the noodle dish was amazingly delicious. We would definitely order either of them again. We look forward to our next visit and also dining in soon! read more

For the Pad Thai lovers. I went on 12/23/23. Just had time to leave the review. It's really hard to find the original authentic taste of the sauce to make the dish. We went to Cafe' de Bangkok - Gilbert AZ / - yesterday just for something to bite. We ordered Pad Thai wraps with eggs & Tom Yum with fresh water Prawns in the special menu. WOW..wow..wow...both dishes were delicious. I didn't expect that the taste so...so..good just like we ate in Bangkok. The look of the dishes was so pretty arrangement and the most important thing was the taste so DELICIOUS!!! We're sure lots of people had tried this place and would feel the same way just like us. This is a good Thai food restaurant, the flavor is very close to what I had in Thailand! (I have been to Thailand many times). YELLOW CURRY - very tasty, not those heavy cream curry but with fresh yellow curry, it goes great with rice. I really like this dish, but they didn't put enough chicken in it, instead they added too much big chunks of unpeeled potatoes. I think it would be better to add more chicken, and peel the potatoes. PAD KEE MAP (drunken noodle) - this dish is really good, lots of squid and big shrimp, I like the wide rice noodles, add more flavor and better texture. MANGO SWEET STICKY RICE - great dessert, very good quality sticky rice that just melt in your mouth. Overall, this is a nice restaurant, big portion of food, interesting Thailand decoration, friendly service. Most important, reasonable price! read more

Went here for dinner on a Friday night with a recommendation from my husband's coworker. The place I believe is locally owned and upon arriving we notice right away how busy it is. We didn't have to wait long though, we were seated within a few minutes. The dining room area is really charming and you can tell they put effort into making the place look clean and inviting. We ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp. I wanted so badly to love it, but the wrapping was hard and I couldn't even eat half of my order because my shrimp was raw! This is the only reason why I gave 4 stars vs 5. No, I did not inform the wait staff...I simply just left it alone. There was a total of 4 pieces, so we ate 2 of the four and inspected the shrimp before taking a bite. The sauces that came with the fresh rolls were good. For entrees we got the Pad Thai Hor Khai...this was something I haven't had before but it's essentially a Pad Thai that came enveloped in a Fried Egg. I attached a picture for reference. We shared that and took the left overs home as we had ordered so much food. I ate Yellow Curry with Chicken and my husband ate the Panang Curry with Beef Brisket. He also had beer. I attached pricing on all of this just in case anyone was curious. The servers were nice, even though they were busy the wait to get a table and the wait for the food didn't take too long as well. We pulled up to the parking lot and knew instantly it would be a great meal! It's a family owned restaurant. The service was great! The food was AMAZING! We got the appetizer sampler platter which was good... but the stars of the meal was the beef Panang curry and the fried chicken!!! WOW!!! The beef was so tender, the panang curry was flavorful - the best panang curry I've ever had. The fried chicken had a refreshing, aromatic, citrus flavor... unlike any sauce I've had before! It would have been better if it was at least warm. The sauce was very sweet. It came in a shot glass with a small spoon. I got the Bangkok Pad Thai spice level 3. It was good but too salty. Updating the review because of a service experience that was shockingly bad. We still love the food and experience overall but were very disappointed by our last visit. Brought two friends to this spot and raved about the food, really hyping it up. I ordered the pad kee mao with level 3 spice and my boyfriend said "same thing please". Our food was dropped off by a different member of the staff that told us one of the orders was very spicy. We told her we didn't order one very spicy, they should be the same, and she told us to take the chili flakes off the top?! My boyfriend tried to eat it anyways, but it was probably level 5 spice and just not enjoyable. The staff member gave him an eye roll when he called her back and said it was too spicy, and I reminded her that we wanted level 3 for both dishes. When he got the replacement dish, it was obvious there was no spice at all and the staff member said rudely "I hope you can eat it". Left a sour taste in our mouths as we generally do love this restaurant and are always bringing friends or family to try it out. Hoping for a better experience the next time we visit. read more

Food, service, ambiance were all top notch. This is the best Thai food I have had anywhere outside of Thailand and maybe even in Thailand. The owner and chef Tom waited on us, told us about his specialties, explained the ingredients he uses that sets his food apart from most other Thai restaurants. He told us how he uses his mom's recipes and imports authentic ingredients. He explained the differences in the curries he makes and how he makes them. We were a party of 8 and everyone agreed it was top notch. We want to go back weekly to try everything on the menu. read more

Where to even start? This place is incredible. The ambience is beautiful they always have soft music playing in the background. It is super clean and beautifully decorated, you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. Service is good and prompt. The real show stopper here of course is the food. This is THE Thai place to come to it is delicious. Some of my favorites are Guay Teaw Nam Tok, Kiew Goong Moe Fai,Nam Tok Nuer, and Pad Kee Mao. If I had been asked a month ago if I liked Thai food I would have said no. I now know that is because I hadn't had good Thai food. This restaurant is simply delicious and comforting. I am just sad it took me so long to give Thai cuisine another chance. On this visit we ordered curry puffs, TOM KHA GAI Soup, coconut shrimp, and sticky sweet rice for dessert. Everything from the first bite until the last was devine; I couldn't even pick a favorite if forced too. Recently I was feeling under the weather and the first thought for comfort was Cafe de Bangkok. Good food for the body that also nurtures the soul. The restaurant decor and ambience pulls the meal together. I love the mural and masks all along the walls. Great place for a first date, a family meal, or just solo. I believe our server was also the owner, super friendly and very attentive. We ordered 4 dishes; the papaya salad, Mongolian beef, green curry, and vegetable curry. We ordered them all medium spice level. Now, I like some heat but the papaya salad was quite spicy. Next time would probably order that at a 1. Otherwise, everything else had a nice heat level. This place is great. I'm not sure how long they've been open for business because I've only found them this week. The location is very inconspicuous and it seems to be closed when you first pull up so it can be considered a hidden gem. The food were phenomenal and the portions were surprisingly large for the price. The staff were accommodating, though seem to be low staffed as the place was pretty busy and the wait staff was getting behind on things to no fault of theirs. We had the tom yum goong hot pot, the red mountain chicken and the appetizer combo for the kids. Food was great, I made the mistake of asking for a 4 on the spicy level, though it was good and we finished the hot pot nonetheless and took the chicken home. The seating and decoration of the place is very welcoming and cozy. We came as a family of 5 with 3 young kids and they enjoyed themselves. Highly recommended for families. The wait staff was polite, attentive and took our orders in timely fashion. Our water glasses were refilled often. But the kitchen staff had to struggle with preparing our dishes. Our wait was longer than typical. To be fair, there were two picked-up orders, plus a table ahead of us. But the long wait time made me wonder if the kitchen was short of staff. The Tom Yum soup came as a hot pot. It had a good smoky fragrance and flavors. There was enough soup for three people. The Panang curry with beef had a flavorful sauce. The meat was tender and tasty. The temperature inside of the restaurant was quite warm. Could it be that the restaurant management was trying to save electricity? It was 113°F / 45°C outside. The elevated temperature negated our enjoyment at the restaurant. We may return to this restaurant to try other dishes, but during the cooler season of the year. read more
