4.12.26 - I usually love this place but there were a few issues with the order this time. It's been about 1-2 years since I've last eaten or ordered from here and decided to order to go for dinner. The web link on Yelp didn't work so I used menu photos from Yelp. 1. Item M14 -Gang Kiew Waan Roti from the photos says it's served w/ roti. But we were charged an additional $3 for roti, which was not mentioned to me when putting in the order. Only after we received our order and saw the receipt did I check Google. Web link on Google works and it appears they changed the name of the item and removed roti from the name. 2. To go portions are small for the price. Chicken larb was enough for like 2 people and had only one piece of lettuce. Papaya salad was also small and 1/2 the container was garnishes (carrots/cabbage). 3. For a noodle soup, any other place would put noodles separate from its broth. My khao soi came all in one container. Forgot to take a photo while it was in the container but there's an old photo of it somewhere on Yelp. 4. Crab fried rice had barely any crab. 5. There was no white rice. Places usually provide some white rice regardless if you order fried rice but I guess that's an extra charge here. 6. We ordered medium spicy for majority of the dishes because one person can't handle spicy but everything came out mild tasting. Even my khao soi, which I ordered hot spicy level, came out mild. 7. Thai tea was missing. After ordering, I asked the person on the phone to read back my order to me. She listed everything I had ordered including the thai tea. But after the order was picked up (not by me), the thai tea was not included in the order. It's a bit out of the way from here to there so no one is going to drive all the way back to get it. I went elsewhere close by for the thai tea. We came to Cafe de Bangkok a few weeks ago for lunch with the family. It is likely the best Thai food in the Gilbert area. The servers are always so kind and gives great suggestions. The place is busy but clean. We are seated immediately always. Recently I tried the crab curry and it is one of the most delicious curries I've ever had. The pad Thai is always great here. My family always enjoys coming here.

Not sure where to start, a nice authentic Thai restaurant. The server was very friendly. Kept stopping by and explain everything about the food , the menu and the ingredients. He mentioned how they used really authentic fresh ingredients. Their lychee mocktail was really good and it had lychees in it and not lychee jelly. The kao soi is definitely a must truly. We got the platter for the appetizer for everyone to share. However if you go small group and would like to chose one or two things from there. I highly recommend their shrimp. Their desserts were good as well, forgot the name of the other dessert it was the special that day, I think it was sugar toast or something with ice cream. Highly recommend trying hard as well. The place was clean and well maintained. For a Friday night it was quite easy to find and get a table right away.

It was a Monday night and my husband and I were in the area without the kids for a couple of hours... When I suggested Thai food, he was game so we searched the Yelp app for nearby options and came across this place! They were doing some decent business when we walked in but we were seated promptly. It's a casual but festive ambiance - definitely with a local, hidden gem kind of feel. Service was friendly and helpful as we needed some guidance on what to order - everything sounded great! We went with a green curry chicken dish and a pad thai (the non-street food version). Both were very good, although the pad thai was a tad bit sweet for us. Portions sizes and prices are reasonable and we had leftovers too... I hope to return to try some other options in the future. Enjoy!

As Thai cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines, I decided to have a birthday dinner here with some of my closest friends. I ordered two orders of chicken satay for the table, a duck curry for my entree, and I washed it down with a cherry temple. I also did a couple of sake bombs for my birthday and that's always a delight. The chicken satay was so surprisingly tender. I usually avoid chicken dishes while dining out in fear of dry, overcooked meat but this place does chicken well. I even let out an involuntary, "mmm!" when biting into the satay. As for my duck curry, it was a sweet dish. The lychee and other fruit in it comes off strong. Get it spicier to have a more balanced flavor profile. I would have liked more duck too but that's just because I love me some duck. Thai food isn't just food, it's a journey through flavors and this place does it well. The staff is super friendly, having taken a birthday cake we had brought to store in their fridge and providing plates and lighting the candles come dessert time. They also sing a fun birthday song!

I've been looking for a new go to Thai spot in Gilbert and I think I've finally found it. They have happy hour from 5pm - 6:30pm! There's an Early Bird dinner set which is a choice of a drink, one of the entrees and it comes with spring rolls and a Tom Khao soup. I got the Yellow Curry and it was so flavorful. One of the best yellow curries I've ever had! It's definitely a bit more on the spicy side. I got mild and it was more spicy than I expected, so if you aren't use to spice - definitely ask for no spice! The Pad Thai was also so soft and so delicious. I also loved the Tom Khao coconut soup that it came with. The place is well decorated and roomy and the service was attentive. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

One of my local favorites in Gilbert! This place has always provided FANTASTIC food and service. As others have mentioned, the owner is extremely friendly and, if you've been to Thailand, he thoroughly enjoys talking about his home country with you. The restaurant has a very casual but real Thai feel. My go-to's here are the pad Thai, the yellow chicken curry, and the khao soi. DO NOT SKIP OUT ON THIS PLACE.

The flavor of the food here is spectacular! Everyone at the table was raving about their dishes. I especially like that when you ask for your meal to be hot there is actual spice to it. The only drawback was the fact that the air conditioning seemed to be broken and it was a bit warm inside with just the stand alone cooler, but the food more than made up for that.

This is my all-time favorite place to get lunch! And it's gotta be a dine-in lunch to get the full benefits! When you get the lunch menu, make sure to flip it over to ensure you're on the Lunch COMBO side (not the Lunch Special). The Lunch Combo comes with your entree, a free drink (I either get the Thai coffee or the Thai Tea), a cup of the Soup of the Day (the Tom Yum is my fave), and an appetizer! (I will say I've gone here several times, but went yesterday and the lunch combo has changed a bit. They used to have Chicken Satay (Gai Satay) on their appetizer list and I always got that. But now they've removed that option and I'm so sad :( Please add that back!! And it does seem the lunch portions have gotten slightly smaller.) But the food is still amazing. I always get the Rama Gai (basically peanut butter chicken) for the entree. Highly recommend this place for a lunch spot!

Love this place!!! I have been here twice and both times I have been incredibly impressed by not only the top notch food, but excellent service. The staff makes you feel right at home and they really add to the overall dining experience. The decor in the restaurant is also very soothing. Back to the food... it is insanely good! While waiting out the Covidacalypse bunker-ed down in the Gilbert suburbs we ordered from CDB the other day off of one of those food delivery companies. The food was amazing .. I had Yellow Curry with their signature bread and the largest Goi Con (spring roll) you've ever seen. So good. Decided to stop in today and get some more. They were incredibly kind and wonderful people. With everything going on in the world right now and restaurants being hit so hard, I want the most money going to our local spots. I ordered the Green Curry this time and was blown away. Best of Luck to this hidden gem and making it out of this quarantined nightmare. With food as tasty as theirs, I know they will. Vacationing from small town Minnesota (where really good food is a four hour roundtrip drive), I like to splurge when I am on vacation. It was a Friday afternoon. I really did not want to leave the rental (or be in a crowd). Saw these folks offered free delivery, had great food, and had what I wanted. I placed my order online and within 2 minutes the owner called to finalize my order. Food was delivered at the time promised and very hot! I received everything I ordered, including the extra sauces. After looking at what I ordered, I thought maybe I ordered too much food! In started with the pad Thai as I figured the rolls could be put in the fridge for later. The rolls by themselves were a meal! Do not the picture size of the pad Thai box fool you! Eating out of it was like the magician with the endless string of handkerchiefs! The dish was so flavorful with perfectly cooked plump shrimp. I am glad I ordered the Thai iced tea as it was near dessert quality with its flavor and sweetness. I am looking forward to dining here again next summer. A perfect place for out of towners and locals. Support small businesses! read more

My wife and I have revisited Cafe De Bangkok twice recently. Dining inside with their recently remodeled dining room was enjoyable. We ordered spicy eggplant and green curry with chicken and the food was outstanding once again. I believe this is the best Thai food in the East Valley, if not in all of Phoenix. This restaurant deserves your support. C'mon Gilbert, Chandler and the rest of the East Valley support our local business. You will not be disappointed. read more

Tom Kha Gai soup #13 was awesome. We also had the curry. Ginger and basil chicken dishes. It was so wonderful we returned two days later with a new group and recommended it to our family for future visits Tom owns the place and is kind and very informative. This place is unprofessional and overpriced. I called the day before Memorial Day to see if they were open for lunch the next day. A lady answered the phone and said she did not speak English. Why have someone answering phones who cannot answer questions in English? First red flag. We arrived during the lunch hour on Memorial Day expecting to eat from the $8.95 per item lunch menu as advertised and were told by the rude waitress they "don't serve lunch today because a holiday. Only dinner menu" Another restaurant attempting to fleece customers on a holiday as their dinner prices range from $18 to $35 per entree. I wanted to leave, but my friends wanted to stay. I ordered a large bowl of Tom Ka Gai soup ($18). It came in a tureen with the flame so high and leaping out underneath that the soup was boiling heavily at the table. The waitress walked away and left it that way. I called her back to extinguish the flame so I could eat the scalding soup without getting burned. She walked over, took a huge breath and blew out the flame like birthday candles spreading her spittle and germs across the soup. At this point I had no desire to eat the soup and left most of it. About a half hour into the meal, she came over and told us they were closing soon and we had to leave, even though two other tables were still sitting there eating. With the tip, my total was $23 for a bowl of soup I could not even eat. With first-world prices and third-world service, I see no reason to return. read more

Delicious food. Wonton soup, papaya salad, curries and especially the Mongolian dish we ordered were very tasty. Beware - level 3 spice is pretty hot! Otherwise very friendly staff and we would definitely go back. read more

My daughter said when she took her first bite of Massaman curry with beef, it took her back to memories of eating in Thailand. it is that authentic and delicious!!! Khao Soi is also a favorite and is a dish that you don't find in your average Thai restaurants. Cafe de Bangkok was perfect choice for my sons wedding lunch. The food was AMAZING and they went way above and beyond with service and even decor in the wedding colors. it will be a treasured memory for us...and of course, we will go back again and again for the food! read more

This is an authentic Thai cuisines restaurant. Foods are so delicious. Highly recommend "seafood drunken noodles/ Crab fried rice/ Chicken Satay/ Red Snapper special house sauce/ Padthai and of course is Tomyum". Service is great. The owner always check on us after the meals. If you want the real Thai foods, you need to try this restaurant in Gilbert. read more

I grew hungry as lunch approached...a quick scan of Yelp led me to discover a new Thai restaurant...Cafe de Bangkok. As it was only a few miles away, I decided to give it a try...and I'm really glad I did. I decided to go with Tao Hu (Fried Tofu) for an appetizer. It came with a delicious sweet and sour sauce with peanuts. The main dish arrived a few minutes later...the Kra Prow Gai Khai Dao! It really had quite the name...but the description on the menu provided an accurate description of the entree. It was a chicken dish with sliced chili, garlic, green bean, onion, and basil leaves...served with a small bowl of rice. The flavor was immaculate! I washed down the mean with a delicious glass of iced tea. All in all...a very delicious meal! I would recommend this restaurant to others...give it a try...you will not be disappointed! read more

So good! Wife and I have ordered twice from here since the lockdown began, and it's the best Thai in the area. Service by Tom was amazing. He was very friendly and on his game, fast with the food and helpful with recommendations (favorite foods and how to select spices). Even taught us a little bit of Thai language (hello and thank you). The food was amazing. We had chicken pad Thai and a combo lunch item called Rama Karv (spelling probably not accurate). They came with rice soup.... which was actually onion soup, and so delicious! The Pad Thai was perfect. The other dish combo came with yummy Thai ice tea, 2 spring rolls, rice and a chicken peanut sauce main dish. It was also very good. The servings were large, so we took half to go for dinner ! My wife and I would go to Mint Thai weekly. We shied away from the new restaurant, as we mourned it's closing. OUR LOSS. The new menu/chef is amazing. So far we have had two visits with 6 different menu items. All of them superb. Thai is back on the menu! read more

Every time we go, my wife and me, it's the same consistent quality of food. The portions are generous and prices very fair. The servers are always friendly, though sometimes seem a bit overwhelmed with their take out orders. I've seen the poor owner handling all the calls and taking care of dine in guests. However he does it with a smile and it's hard to ding them for trying so hard to ensure all guests are taken care of, I'm sure they did great during Covid with take out. When you dine in their " early bird special" us great. I believe it runs between 5 and 6:30, great pricing and the presentation is nicely done. What really does it for me is that I'm a fanatical fan of restaurant food that comes out "piping hot " , my wife thinks I'm insane but my daughters know that the way to my heart is piping hot food, that burns my mouth, love it. They always use that term whenever they go out to eat. Then I'm convinced it's not reheated from a microwave but made fresh as the order is entered. Don't look for some fancy fine dining snobby appeal, just enjoy really good Thai food. We are lucky to have them in Gilbert, as the only other Thai restaurant I enjoy is Malee's in Scottsdale. Malee's has more exotic cocktails but they don't hold the exclusive reign of best Thai food in the Phoenix area. Check them out, they won't disappoint! read more

Ridiculously slow and rude service. It took 40 minutes to serve some simple Thai food, 20 min to get the coconut water I ordered and 15 minutes to get the check, especially when the restaurant was not busy. Total amount is $46, I paid $60 and didn't receive any change afterwards. Had to go to the counter to check, the girls at the counter tried to keep the $14 as tip, when I didn't say "keep the change". This place is the worst restaurant in Arizona. read more

This place is a secret gem! The very kind owner was our server, and despite him being the only worker on the floor, he handled all 7 tables during the lunch rush with precision and kindness. The food was robust with flavor, and even the tea was especially tasty! The lunch meal came with a delicious vegetable tofu soup. We had the Kra Pow Gai Kai Dow (sautéed chicken and veggies with a fried egg), and the Panang Neur with chicken (Panang curry). SO SO YUMMY!! We also had a Thai tea and a regular hot tea.
