My wife and I have revisited Cafe De Bangkok twice recently. Dining inside with their recently remodeled dining room was enjoyable. As it was only a few miles away, I decided to give it a try...and I'm really glad I did. I decided to go with Tao Hu (Fried Tofu) for an appetizer. It came with a delicious sweet and sour sauce with peanuts. The main dish arrived a few minutes later...the Kra Prow Gai Khai Dao! It really had quite the name...but the description on the menu provided an accurate description of the entree. It was a chicken dish with sliced chili, garlic, green bean, onion, and basil leaves...served with a small bowl of rice. The flavor was immaculate! Every time we go, my wife and me, it's the same consistent quality of food. The portions are generous and prices very fair. The servers are always friendly, though sometimes seem a bit overwhelmed with their take out orders. I've seen the poor owner handling all the calls and taking care of dine in guests. However he does it with a smile and it's hard to ding them for trying so hard to ensure all guests are taken care of, I'm sure they did great during Covid with take out. When you dine in their " early bird special" us great. I believe it runs between 5 and 6:30, great pricing and the presentation is nicely done. What really does it for me is that I'm a fanatical fan of restaurant food that comes out "piping hot " , my wife thinks I'm insane but my daughters know that the way to my heart is piping hot food, that burns my mouth, love it. They always use that term whenever they go out to eat. Then I'm convinced it's not reheated from a microwave but made fresh as the order is entered. Don't look for some fancy fine dining snobby appeal, just enjoy really good Thai food. We are lucky to have them in Gilbert, as the only other Thai restaurant I enjoy is Malee's in Scottsdale. Malee's has more exotic cocktails but they don't hold the exclusive reign of best Thai food in the Phoenix area. Check them out, they won't disappoint! read more

This place is a secret gem! The very kind owner was our server, and despite him being the only worker on the floor, he handled all 7 tables during the lunch rush with precision and kindness. The food was robust with flavor, and even the tea was especially tasty! The lunch meal came with a delicious vegetable tofu soup. We had the Kra Pow Gai Kai Dow (sautéed chicken and veggies with a fried egg), and the Panang Neur with chicken (Panang curry). SO SO YUMMY!! We also had a Thai tea and a regular hot tea. Best Thai I have had. I was waiting for my car to get new tires so I wandered in here for lunch. Glad I did. The Thai ice tea was perfect. I usually am not a fan but it came with the lunch deal so I got it. This tea had a mild sweetness, not overwhelming. It was very smooth and refreshing. The coconut soup was great! It had a drizzle of chili on top which made it look very appetizing and taste delicious. For the entree I tried rice with a fried egg on top, along with a variety of vegetables and chicken in a red spicy sauce. Great colors, fresh and flavorful. This is probably the worst thai food we ever had. We ordered a creamy milky pang nang curry. No veggies at all only no more than 6 pieces meat..... no pepper, no carrot, no eggplant. Nothing else. Tom yum soup 99%is mushroom, 6 exact 6 pieces small size shrimp for 14.99 I believe which is quite expensive for the food you are getting. Taste is sour water. But most disappointing part is when they serve the soup, we have a toddler who is touching around the lady put the soup with fire in the middle of the pot right in front of him! What?????
